The app is so much better than logging in through the browser! Setting up auto pay was a breeze. Finally, something that makes things easier.

Terrible customer service, calls non primary family members to contact for a debt. How rude.
Automatic log out
I will get more notifications if the app wouldn’t automatically logged me out. That can be a real hindrance when you want to be on time with your payment payments.

This has really helped me to be able to get my children through school. I have kids still in college a set of twins one at PVAMU and one at LSU. I don’t know how I’m going to get them through but with the help of Sallie Mae. Thank God for the support.

Sallie Mae takes advantage of kids trying to goto school. It’s gross.
App doesn’t work
App always has some continuous issue, each update gets worse, they need a new web developer that actually knows how to fix bugs. I only use the website because it doesn’t act up like the app. I have experience in front and back end web development and its basic troubleshoot bugs, the developer needs replacement. Sorry not sorry, can’t even log in on the app for this new update 😫!

Sallie Mae has been my partner in funding my daughter’s education. From super simple interfaces and processes to quick payments to the school and easy tracking. At times when payments were a little late they contacted me to resolve any issues with understanding and empathy and have kept me on track. I recommended Sallie Mae to any parent looking to be at ease with funding their child’s schooling. It helps me sleep better at night.
Account Issues
This app will not allow me to look at my savings account. Upon logging in, it informs me about loan payment issues that require the website (I don’t have a loan through Sallie Mae, I have a HYSA) and pressing the “x” to leave this notification simply takes me back to the login screen. There is no way to view my account. Disappointing to say the least!

Can’t access app. (Update)
Opening the app it tells me there is an update and and can’t proceed. When you follow the link it takes you to the App Store where it says it’s already up to date. Can’t even log in. Update: not even 3 hours later it has been fixed. No problems now!

Going downhill
They took away Face ID, although there is still a setting to select, it does nothing. Tried to give feedback from within settings in the app and the size of the feedback entry screen is such that the submit button is out of view and must be scrolled to. But window just snaps back and scroll button doesn’t stay in view. Impossible to submit feedback.
Not good
I’ve never been late then I have an instance in life where it’s tough and I’ve been offered no help. I’ll never recommend Sallie Mae to anyone ever not even my worst enemy. Horrible company.

Wouldn’t recommend
Harasses to the point of filing claim with Fair Debt Collections Practices Act. Calls more than 7 times a week and asks for permission to call again, and when refused, still calls. Makes a payment, calls 2 days later asking for payment.
