App is great!! at taking your money
Non refundable tickets and surcharges that are straight up robbery. Unreliable service and trains that stop halfway through the platform then leave. The mta is robbing us all
Terrible policies and app
Check out the average score of this app in 2026. Averaging just aver one star and MTA leadership doesn’t care because of its monopolistic hold on commuters. No company could treat their customers like this and continue to operate. Janno Lieber should learn to listen to customers. Your fare policies penalize the rule followers. Scammers will always scam. You are not reducing fare evasion.

Looks a little dated and clunky (doesn’t everything in New York?) but seems to be reliable and hasn’t let me down yet!
Really
Be careful of the threatening emails from the MTA if you don’t activate your ticket before getting on the train. I was running late and just made my train. As I sat down and before the train left the station I activated my ticket, but I still got a threatening email. Really MTA?
location
i know this is my fault but this app should really know my location and auto select the closest station to be the departure point. i CONSTANTLY miss trains because i forget to invert the stations i am leaving from and arriving to.

This app is easy to use and has a pleasant appearance. Everything loads easily. Things like the day pass ticket are well explained. It is very helpful that you can see a layout of the train. It’s also helpful that the full schedules are linked in the settings

Needs improvement
MTA should provide refunds, especially for newer riders that made avoidable mistakes. It shouldn’t hurt to be more considerate for daily passes, especially if you simply bought another one by an accident.
Out raged
So they hack the fare up and you would think Ohok after a certain amount of rides you get a free tick. Your ticket doesn’t last long. It’s a rip Off especially when you don’t have to be back to work within the 13hrs they give you to use it.The free ticket should at least expire after 48 hrs
Great app
The team at MTA really knows what they are doing with software. Their apps are easy to use and full of relevant information. And the information is thoughtfully laid out with details like arrows indicating train directions or times of connecting trains.
What a PAIN!!!
This app has been absolutely nothing but an absolute pain in my A*$!!!!!!! When I buy tickets, it signs me out right after. And then when I try to sign in so the conductor can scan my ticket, it says it blocked ALL REQUESTS from my device!! Now I wasted my damn money! Why pay if the app isn’t even gonna work??? might as well EVADE THE FARE!!!!! the MTA is trying to DRAIN your WALLETS and YOUR SANITY!!!!!
Very funky policies
You can only purchase 1 ticket in 15 mins to credit towards rewards program. If you purchase multiple, it will not credit it. It is forcing you to purchase right before you ride.

Only use it to check train times and purchase tickets and it works… So no complaints!
REDEEMING FOREVER
After redeeming a reward, it’s stuck in the “Redeeming” state indefinitely (just showing the loading icon), which prevents me from starting the next 10-ticket accumulation reward program. Please fix!
Frustrated
Tourist traveler. Enjoy the app but it’s not set up for users who do not have a credit card registered in usa.
Annoying
The app can be a little temperamental when you purchase a ticket then the conductor tells you that you have to pay extra because it’s peak! Yet the ticket you would have purchased 2 mins before he gets to you! It’s annoying
Poor Customer Service, Inconsistent Policies
Better to buy a ticket at the ticketing counter - they are refundable up to 30 mins after purchase in the event of train changes/service disruptions, etc. If you buy on the app, they don’t allow changes/refunds after 2 minutes and offer ZERO customer service at all if you run into any issues. Consider it a theft device.

Illegally fingerprints your device
Found out today that the app is in violation of Apple’s policy prohibiting fingerprinting devices. After submitting a valid dispute for a ticket the app scammed me out of, the app blocked my device, not just the account, to try to pressure me into dropping the dispute. This would only be possible if the app is in violation of Apple’s policies. Meaning this app is likely also illegally pulling other information from your phone.
