My Alert system not working
Unable to set alert in my alert section. Please fix it asap. I need to receive daily alert for the bus route to make sure bus is coming on time.
Terrible UX
Coming from the Metro North app, this app trails behind. Why can’t I buy tickets directly from the trip scheduler? Why can’t I save a train I’m taking? When buying multiple tickets, activating them should be shown together, not separately. Why is it buggy when planning a trip. Why is there a welcome pop up EVERY TIME I open the app? Why aren’t activated tickets not in Live Activities? Not sure why this app received so many high ratings. Maybe people don’t take Metro North often. App gets a star because they’ve updated the UI, tells me it has an active developer team.
UX needs some work
Listen, the UI upgrade was great. But the user flows are overly complicated. At the very least, give us the opportunity to buy our ticket from the trip planner section, not just view the route. I’m not sure the rider tools page is even necessary - you have duplicate links for service alerts, and for the trip planner itself.

it just feels like this app could be better
somehow it doesn’t feel innovative, but it is simple. BUT how come when all the trains have ended for the day, they can’t just show me the trains for the next day. I don’t want to use the trip planner! it doesn’t show me the full schedule in comparison to train tab view!!! and why doesn’t your ticket attach to your train so you know when you’ll arrive at ur destination like the previous rendition of the app?? do better NJ transit, still love you though.
How can it be this bad?
The old clunky app worked better than the newly updated app. Now when you buy tickets with it, it’s a gamble as to whether or not they will show up in the app after purchase. This creates an awkward train ride and an angry conductor.
Used to be better
Before the new update the app was easy and intuitive. Now after the update I have click like 3-4 times just to look at my favorite bus stop. Before had a favorite tab . My cache and over memory gets deleted randomly just inconvenient things always happens with this app. UI sucks honestly . Whoever approved it must not take the bus. But overall once you learn it’s okay . That’s why I put 3 stars

Complete Trash
This new version is nothing but a redesign. It made everything a jumbled mess where you have to search in multiple different places. Plus push notification alerts have not worked since this update. Absurd. What are these developers even doing? The entire NJ Transit organization from Kris down to the mail clerk is Incompetent. Over a month since the last update was released. Just shameful.

Redesign isn’t getting better
I’ve tried to get used to the new redesign but it has genuinely not gotten better for me. What used to just list the local stations now automatically makes my starting location my current address, which is not helpful because then it just tells you to walk to a bus stop or train stop to get to the train station. Would love if I could set it to automatically select the nearest train station so I don’t have to manually enter it and find it on a long list every time.
Cannot view flexible schedule
I like that I can add my favorite train stations. When searching for a time the schedule gives you only 3 trains around that time. Nothing before. I would like to have the option to view earlier trains or later trains without having to go back to the previous page and changing the time.

Need Penn Station Info
All aspects of app are great except Penn NY track information. Pushing track to app as an alert would be extremely helpful. As of now, you have to at the right place/right time/right screen to get track with limited boarding time.

Not an efficient app for NJ transit riders to 1. coordinate various boarding stations 2. Prepare for getting off two stations ahead, especially for someone w/ disability. 3. Does not have an at a glance info re: estimate arrival time or upcoming station stops. Whoever designed/developed this application does not appear to be a rider of any public transit system, definitely not NJTRANSIT. This new app misses some major points, or helpful info that was on the old application nor is it user friendly. It feels cumbersome and inefficiently!

weird app
almost everyone i know has had difficulty with the sign up. if you don’t have notifications on for your emails then it’s impossible. whenever you leave the app it will time out, making it impossible for you to sign up
Worst app
It’s amazing how the quality of this app gets worse every year. I thought on my android it was bad but ever since getting the new iPhone the user experience has gotten significantly worse. The team that maintains this needs should be let go. Just use AI to create it. It would be better than this mess.
Essential feature removed
Please bring back the old station-to-station schedule view! One of the most useful features of the NJ TRANSIT app was being able to select two stations (e.g., Millburn → NY Penn), choose a future date, and simply see all scheduled trains for that route that day. The new Trip Planner is not a replacement for this. It requires searching around a specific departure/arrival time and makes something that used to take seconds unnecessarily difficult. Commuters often need to look ahead at tomorrow’s schedule and quickly compare all of our options. Please restore the ability to save/favorite a station pair and view the full schedule between those stations for any selected date. This was an incredibly useful, simple feature of the old app and I really hope you bring it back.
Not for tourists
Good app to buy tickets but schedules do not reflect reality. Disconnect between real schedule and the app. Waited 2:30 hours to get to a low service stop. App said there was a bus every 20 minutes
The worst app!
I’ve been using the NJT app for many years, never had an issue with it. But since it was upgraded, there is ALWAYS a problem with it. Every week I have to deleted and open in again, when I ask for a code send to my email it takes for ever or never get it. It’s so frustrating and inconsistent!!!!!
Complicated system
Why do we have to choose our exact travel to buy any tickets! It is complicated to find all the right names of stations and ferry drops, etc and we have to use the exact path chosen later on…
Worse than ever, developers asleep at the switch
Buses disappear from the app minutes before their arrival, no warning, no explanation, no alert, leaving people stranded and unsure what to do. The maps and “view stops” features haven’t worked in months. If a bus is late by more than an hour, it will not show up in the tracking for the stop - you have to look at later stops and then do some math to figure out when the app “would have” guessed the bus is. Atrocious and easily fixable.
Crashes when paying with PayPal
App crashes whenever I attempt to pay with PayPal. Also, no explanation of what it means to "activate" a ticket just purchased. No FAQ.
