- Favorites feature is hard to find
MTA Trains
Delays
Question
Can the brain trust behind this app explain what purpose “favorites” has in the “new” version? If I only get nearby stations and every single train at said stations, why is “favorites” still an option other than to mock me?
Dessy
It works quite a few times but the only thing that irritates me are the delays . One day they’ll say the bus comes in 5 mins and once it passes it never arrives 🤦🏽♀️
Unreliable
Unreliable just like the Mta. They have times where buses and trains are supposed to leave and they don’t line up. Wrong trains come, buses don’t arrive, timer just keeps feeding us lies.
Please fix widget
Great app, simple design with the most accurate timing. PLEASE FIX YOUR WIDGETS! As of now, the widget only sorts buses by line, not by next arriving, and only 2 fit on the screen. Please allow sort by arrival time so I don’t have to launch the app. Widgets are very important, please fix.
Great upgrades
I love how they continuously improve the app features. Well designed and very easy to use.
Fix Location
Since the latest update, the app shows the subway line that is one stop away; not the subway closest to current location.
works better for trains than buses
Decent app but the b44 line rarely shows up when the app says it will, no idea what's wrong with the b44
Official app is correct 50% of the time
Half the time, the app works fine and is good at tracking buses and subways, the other half it is wildly incorrect, has incredibly out dated information and tracking buses that don’t exist. Support team always takes a minimum of 10 minutes to respond and don’t seem to know any better than users do.
Plan Trip broken
Trip planning used to be fantastic. The new app is terrible. The planner only shows two options now and departure times are incorrect because they include walking to the station that I start from. Departure also don’t update when refresh is selected. Favorite stations are not an option anymore for the trip planner
Deserved the FIVE STAR review.
One of most useful App i have seen so far on the App Store or anywhere else. It shows you exact time and if there is a delay or alert that is on the track you are traveling from or to. I choose to give Five Star.
No Service/Wifi on Trains, Useless
The app needs service or WiFi to use… there’s no service or WiFi on the trains or the stations, when you would most need the app.
EDIT: widgets back
widgets are finally back - thank you. please add notifications of delays and it will literally be perfect
Doesn’t give accurate information
I had to to send information to the app many times, the app is fine when there is no delays, but it is slow on updating when there is some delays.
street name font too small
street name font too small, does not enlarge, train / buss separate if i take a buss i don’t know what train is close by. timing is as good as the station but doesn’t notify that train is not going to stop (express on-local track).
Useful Widget
The best feature of this app for me is the countdown timer widget. I haven’t found another transit app that has a similar widget that you can configure for a specific station.
No schedule?
This is not good. Why isn’t there a schedule? The mat’s Justine website is far better than this app. What a waste of a download.
Widgets are back
Widgets are the most useful feature, so they're nice to have back. Route planning feels a bit obtuse, and I wish I could view all of my favorite stations on the Subway screen rather than only what's nearby.
Poor info
Would be better if it had up to date info and info on delays. It often doesn’t even suggest the best route or an opportunity to give feedback if the subway doesn’t come or bus never arrives. This new app is a downgrade from the last one.
Not Workin
Is for AAR… I updated today & now my AAR is not workin & i can not book my rides which i need.. PLEASE FIX IT.. THANK YOU
Perfect.
No notes.
Doesn’t work on cellular
Prior to the major update to this app it worked on cellular only. Since the update it won’t load bus or train information unless connected to wifi making it mostly useless
So much better than the old one
This one is actually usable! I would like to see the railroads reintegrated though, along with ferries (although that isn’t an MTA service so that’s understandable)
Bring back the old app
The old app was so much more straightforward and intuitive. It allowed for more search flexibility and wasn’t tied to location date. Shame!
Not as useful
Why can’t you purchase tickets from the app?
Nice
Deleted the “Transit App” after the MTA app upgrade
Worse
This app is so dreadful you cannot even rearrange your favorites, not in favorites—duh—or search. Hmm where else could it be? Just a terrible app not befitting of even the MTA.
Subway map issue
Cannot open subway map when offline
Terrible redesign
The 2025-26 redesign is an unusable mess. It depends heavily on location and has poor real-time access while in the subway, which was better with the previous version. You lose a lot of the system map, while you’re traveling in system, making it harder to anticipate upcoming stops on unfamiliar lines. Findability is really poor. It’s also difficult to find line-specific maps. If a long-time New Yorker struggles with it, I don’t know how a tourist would succeed in using this version.

Fake updates
How do you publish that widgets can be added when the function DOES NOT WORK?! My phone and apps are up to date, but that widget addition eluded me. Horribly managed app
All in one plate!!!
Everything at one place Subway, Bus, Fares etc..
constantly crashes
App constantly crashes when trying to look when the next bus will arrive. I think an institution like MTA can do way better!
Good

Design DISASTER (and how to fix)
The old version was so much better! Why does the MTA always need to ruin good things? Here is what should happen. -Make Favorites lists prominent and fast loading! Right now I can’t even find my Favorites. -Make the bus and train directional icons bigger and scalable with zoom, bc they are like 2 point font sized now, so you cannot see which way they’re traveling. -Make arrivals show based on real time! Don’t even bother listing the always-irrelevant published schedules. -Make it easy to look up a full Route. (Let me know if you want more ways to make MTA work better.)
Amazing
This app is utterly amazing! Never failed me once over my 14 night stay in NYC. Took all the stress out of getting from A to B
Not paying for the train anymore
Please go ahead and jump the train. Paid and waiting almost an hour for a train that keeps getting delayed?
Absolutely great
Yes, it can be improved. But this app is great.
Terrible - Google Maps Always Better
The app doesn’t connect when you need it. It does not give the best options. It is strange how GoogleMaps uses the same info, but finds more and better routes. The app is all around terrible.
