Quite unstable
Not sure I understand what’s happening with this app! It works one day and then looks all messed up the next (yes I do updates regularly). Also the posted photos of the kids are so horrible to view unless you download them to your phone if you need to enlarge and find your kid. Strange that in 2026 an app behaved like this

It works as advertised
New update feels sloppy
The initial tutorial got stuck had to force kill the app, then why do i have to click two times on every video to watch it. the favorite icon disappears every time you click it. if you refeesh now (pull from top) then app takes you to somewhere down in the oage and doesn't remain at the latest update. the close icon is so hard to find. I am curious if guys cut corners to make one of those hybrid apps to save on development cost
No scroll feature for uploaded pics
Once the daycare uploads pics for a day each pic needs to be opened up and closed separately to view it in full screen on iPhone which is so annoying. Also the Feed doesn’t auto refresh unless the page is pulled down. These are very basic UX features to include in an app.

Awesome
We have been using Lillio for our Catholic private preschool for over a year now. It has been AMAZING from the parent check in to daily reports. We have 94 children enrolled. And would tell everyone to purchase it your money will not be wasted.
Hate the UX
Our daycare moved from Famly to this app and I hate it. Photos are all low res and they try to sell you high res ones. Seriously? The feed is not user friendly, you have photos mixed in with updates on diaper changes, no real time nap info. You can’t send an attachment via private message unless you start a new message. Wish we used the Famly app still.
needed feature
there should definitely be a feature where you can just communicate back-and-forth with the teacher in the classroom without having to start a new prompt every single time And the messages should say stored in the chat .. not having to go through the director and a teacher every single time
Report/activities too delayed
Activities should be visible as soon as they are entered by provider. Daily Report should be sent as soon as child is signed out. Waiting until 6:30pm is far too late for the daily report.
Very Clunky & Non- Intuitive
As a parent the most important are the photos. That part of the app is not nice to use. These are the following issues: 1. The photos take a long time to load 2. The photo gallery doesn’t allow you to swipe through photos 3. In order to download photos - you have to press two different buttons. Previously there was a simple button for downloading. Seems the latest update made it more cumbersome to download on iOS 26. 4. The downloading of photos and videos takes a very long time. 5. Videos have similar issues of the user interface and requires several presses to play or save a video. (Please note that I also have the month subscription so I can download the HD photos.) This app would benefit from a user interface overhaul to make it seamless to use. And the fact that there is a gallery and you can’t simply swipe through is kind of embarrassing and unforgivable. Looking forward to seeing these issues solved.

Glitchy
Customer service is lovely but all of my parents are having major issues with this app. Additionally, we were grossly misinformed about the functionality of the app. For childcare providers, who don’t have a competent sales person, parents are not able to sign their children in and out.
Creating full access app for admins.
Messaging is a little challenging for Admin. Wish Admin had a full access app instead of having to open web browser. It is also difficult to know what messages have been opened and responded too

I use to love it until the new update, and now it looks funky on my phone!!! Please fix it!!!!!!!
New Update doesn’t give real time updates
We are receiving our child’s entire day’s updates only after he has logged out for the day. Keeps parents guessing, we just don’t know what is happening until the day ends. Absolutely terrible decision to change the earlier approach of real time updates.

Inaccessible
I’m sure the app is great once you’re on it, I receive very detailed emails and reports regarding my child but am entirely unable to access the app on my phone. I’ve reset my password, phone, and reinstalled all to no avail. The app still claims I have an invalid username or password.

As a teacher, trying to keep up with taking pictures through out the day, it’s very time consuming to not be able to upload more than 4 pictures at a time. Ironically I spend more time on this app instead of teaching and watching because parents want to see their kids. I personally would not want my kids teacher occupied with technology instead of engaging in the classroom. Can we please be able to upload at least 20 photos at a time? I know other school to parent apps have this ability.

I don’t have kids of daycare age. I recently got several emails with pics of some random person’s kid at daycare. A company transmitting photos and information about your minor children should really take the simple step of requiring email confirmation!! Absolutely UNACCEPTABLE!

Developer needs to make photo icons larger on feed and add names next to photos for each entry. I have multiple children and can't tell what update is for who because the photos are so tiny.

Location services
Can you get rid of the location services needed for check in? I’m usually forget to check my kid in and remember to do it once I’m back at home. Now I can’t do that anymore because I’m too far from the school. Like the app otherwise but not this new feature.

It’s a nice daycare app but as a dad not sure if I’m allowed to use it as it seems only focused on moms
Daily Daycare Pictures
I LOVE receiving almost daily pictures of my two toddler grandchildren while they are enjoying and learning new skills at daycare. It allows me to stay involved in their lives even though I’m not with them. Thank you so much!
Photo Subscription service charge
This has been a good app for my child’s daycare, however, this recent change to charge the user to download high quality photos veers away from the company’s mission statement and isn’t going to sit well with its beloved users. I hope others that feel the same way voice their opinion. If it’s an issue of hosting the data (according to the company’s response to another user’s review here), then why not host the photos for a limited time then purge the photos? If the company is looking for a revenue stream, why not offer something tangible like a print or canvas of the photo, partner with Shutterfly or something similar. I’m sure there are many other cost effective solutions out there that don’t involve charging the parents more money for a photo that a daycare professional took not a photographer.

I love using this app as a teacher and a parent! It is extremely user friendly on both ends. Is there anyway to create a way to switch between the teacher side and parent so I don’t have to use a browser?
Blurry photos :(
Overall HiMama is great. However, recently photos have been very blurry with zooming in. I talked to my child’s teacher and on her end the photos she posts are crystal clear. I noticed this about the time that it was announced that the upgraded photo service was available for $3/month for “highest quality” photos. Looking back at photos that were uploaded months ago, they are all now blurry as well when they were sharp before. This is upsetting. :(

Photo Subscription
The overall design on the app is good and easy to use and communicate with my child’s daycare. I have a issue with the company charging a monthly subscription fee to be able to download high quality photos of my child. The daycare is your client not the parents but greed makes them want to benefit from both ends.

Photo Access Permissions
Why is there no option to “add only” for photo permissions? iOS settings > Security & Settings > Photos. I have no desire to give HiMama access to any of my photos. If I select “selected photos only” there is a bug, where it automatically gives permission (access to HiMama) to any photo I take after I select, “selected photos only”. (Even if I deselect all photos) Brightwheel has the option to “add only” and IMO is essential for an app like this. Thank you.
