Most Used App!!

Cuts down my grocery shopping time in half! I scan and it shows me the products which align with my healthy goals and gives great substitutes for guilty pleasures! Love it!

Does not include GMOs or ingredients from Bioengineered sources

App does not identify or include GMOs or ingredients coming from bioengineered sources and rank them as negative. Leaving customer to have to read entire label to discern if they are there defeating the purpose of a quick scan from App.

New listings

This is a great app and I use it regularly and recommend widely. I have noticed that when I tried to add a new food, I had progressed to nutrition table and as it was not present, the addition was not accepted. This was frustrating when trying to help the community. It might be better if the criteria needed to add a product were listed on page one so that the frustration could be avoided. Otherwise a very helpful app.

Great concept but…

I love this app for what it’s about and I use it to help with my decision making. However, I have learned that some things are not for me. Like it rates seed oils higher than natural fats because it’s less calories but doesn’t take into account that seed oils are toxic. Just use it to educate yourself.

Explains reasoning

I found a shampoo product on sale that I wanted to buy, but checked this app with the barcode scanning feature first. In the paragraphs that explain the reason the ingredients are ranked lower, I found out that one of the ingredients was connected to infertility risks and aggravates eczema conditions, which I have, so I was able to avoid that hassle/irritant because of it.

★☆☆☆☆ United States · v5.3 · 3 Sept 2026

Not accurate

I noticed that the standard for how they determine if something is safe is a bit extreme. I scanned many items and started to notice that something was off. For example I scanned a jar of Polaner all fruit jam that is sweetened with only fruit juice and it labeled it as bad. When I read the description saying why they labeled it as such and they said that it was high sugar and had additives. The amount of sugars in the jam was 10 grams and the additive they flagged was pectin which is an ingredient necessary for jam and jelly production and occurs naturally in many fruits. The icing on the cake was the safe/ healthy replacement jam they recommended was one that was made with cane sugar that had a higher amount of sugar than their recommended 9 grams and is less healthy than jams naturally sweetened with juice. So to sum it up this app runs on extreme standards that they don't even follow on their recommendations.

Great app very great free use. Only 4 stars as they pointedly don’t include alcohol which is silly especially due to the heavy metals that have been increasingly common in alcoholic beverages

Cannot search items unless you’re a member

Silly that you can only scan things but a limited amount unless you’re a member. I like the app and its purpose but I feel that giving at least 3 free searches would be a kind gesture and get more memberships. Not everything is easily scanned especially if you’re not in a store and want to do research before purchasing an item.

Yuka is the best app I’ve ever seen for health. You do have to look at the details but the fact that it recommends alternatives for the food it’s the best part.

Invite a friend???

I think this is an excellent app and would have given it 5 stars except you only get to view 3 categories for free. You have to invite a friend in order to see them all. No thanks, I am not giving out someone’s email just to view more categories. It says you can pay and maybe that comes after the invite a friend thing but I am not seeing any way to pay to unlock the other categories. DELETED!

Scan Results

On iPhone 16 scan results are hidden at bottom of the screen. This requires you to scroll up to uncover the rating. Pain in wazoo. Used to work fine. Soft reset iPhone 16, reinstalled Yuka app. iOS 26.6.1 up to date. No help to fix hidden scan results. Still have to swipe up results window is a pain.

Recommended lotion w/cancer chems

This app, so far, has done 2 things which I disagree with and have deleted the app. 1) it recommended Aveeno oat lotion as a “replacement” for a “Poor” rated lotion I had scanned. Aveeno is known to have cancer causing chems in it. So…..? Huh? 2. Saturated fats (dairy, meats, fish, etc) are rated a “Poor”. Which they are not. Just seed oils. So I don’t trust them. Great app, could use clean up

I use Yuka and absolutely recommend to friends. I would like to see this app cleaned up a bit. Users submitted pictures of items and when you search up a product you can sometimes see different ratings for the exact same product. With conflicting rating it makes it difficult to make an informed choice. The creaters should sweep the app and correct these conflicting ratings for the same product

More filters needed

I feel like this app has great potential but a lot of things that says are bad for you are listed as just a common allergen. If there is a way to add filters to help find or search for specific ingredients and all their other names, I feel like I would use this more because there are some products that are amazing and worked very well and are not bad for you, but because there are some common allergens it’s rated slowly on this app

Price hikes, no cruelty free qualification

This went up in price from $8 to $10 to now $15 in about two years (2024-2026) while the catalog was still heavily expanding and lacked tons of basic brands and products. Of huge significance to some of us, Yuka still has NO cruelty-free marker or notation for animal testing. Its recommendations for “cleaner” subs are often nothing like the original search and yield literally no benefit to the discerning consumer who already knows better. Moreover, there are misrepresentations about the better-scoring cosmetic products since the statistics purport to assess safety through ingredient examination of previously tested ingredients that are toxic, banned, or whatnot without ever disclosing the exact amounts of the ingredients. This is a problem because some of the j ingredients are not bad at the percentages they are in the formulas and only pose mild threats when they aggregate on your skin, for example. This is coming from someone who’s been “natural” for almost 2 decades now. This is totally overpriced for what it is now. If you must, download it for a little bit and figure out what works for you. But don’t rely fully on their representations without doing your own diligence. It’s lowkey fear-mongering.

Could be improved

It's a good start to help decode ingredient lists, but Yuka gives excellent ratings to products containing things like maltodextrin, natural flavors, or canola oil—which are highly inflammatory for your arteries and joints. Very Good (NAA)

That is Very Good, (but Not Always Accurate). Today was the first time I decided to challenge YUKA‘S nutritional facts reporting. They must comply and be confirmed by Health Canada before the labels are approved certainly on this side of the ocean. The saturated fat reported by YUKA was double that of what was actually listed. Aside from the Guar Gum which is minimal risk it could’ve indexed much higher had the saturated fat reading been accurate. However, I am so glad that this platform exists and I’m hoping they have a system in place to correct these small missteps in accuracy. I do see many discrepancies… But if all users take the time to report them, they will eventually get it right. Keep up the good work. (FYI: I am a recovered diabetic, and a cancer survivor and ingredients matter a lot to me after a life of questionable nutritional choices.)

Bad

Untrustworthy app. It contradicts itself constantly. One thing will be “excellent” or “good” and when I go to rebuy items I recheck on the app and all of a sudden the same thing is “poor”. It’s happened several times. It is also saying that terrible ingredients are still “good”, ones that still cause cancer etc.

Not good at rating products

App is very unreliable for products since it only tells you how “safe” they are. It doesn’t tell you if it can cause acne, fungal acne, irritation, rosacea, etc. It brainwashes people into believing every natural ingredient doesn’t have any negative effect on your skin. For example, myristic acid gets rated “risk-free” when it can literally cause acne and fungal acne. Please STOP using this app for beauty products as it’s highly unreliable.

i think the app is amazing especially when on a weight lose journey it has helped me swap a lot of food for better healthier alternative but the only thing i do not like is how some food they reccomed the swap is nothing like the food i am having for example if i scan a crackers and cheese it will say it is not good then tell me to swap to sour bread....... or milk chocolate pretzels to Ancient grain twist. other than that i would reccomed the app if you are trying to loose weight 🙂
