Compatibility
This app is compatible with IOS 26.4. I have Beta. The Piano App at this date, is not compatible. I hope it will be soon.
Discontinued
It doesn’t work anymore
Outdated interface but works ok
I often use when I practice with Roland F140-R. The only tedious issue is when using the Metronome because it does not retain the value if you switch or minimize the application in your iPhone. For example, you had fix the Metronome in 90 but you switch the Application and it goes arbitrarily to 135. For the rest, It does the job.
Cool features but terrible UI
This opened up quite a few features I didn’t know my FP-10 would have. However the UI is just awful. It looks like it was made back in 2009 and never updated.
Could be great!
Love the additional worlds this opens up for Roland digital instruments. Just needs some major TLC. Please update this Roland!
Fix these bugs
I clicked on every single one and it just was loading and about a day, It was still loading, 0 stars if possible
So far so good.
I got immediate Bluetooth connectivity with my FP 30. That made me happy. I went through each of the icons in the app to understand their functionality. And I did a couple of basic recordings which worked well. My only confusion right now is how to change keys in the Rhythms section. I don’t understand the explanation offered on the Roland website. Will continue to figure it out.
It’s like…
Kinda buggy
Some great features, but needs work
The Piano Partner 2 app has some innovative controls and some developed features, but there are two issues with it: 1. It doesn't allow you to save recordings to an external device, (or at least explain why it can't). Recording playback slows down and acts very strange when the app is minimized. 2. Bluetooth problems. For about a year, I couldn't connect with Bluetooth, but it was fixed once I realized the bluetooth settings on my FP-10 were turned off accidentally (it uses white keys and function button for the bluetooth settings and is not very obvious when it gets changed, which probably causes a lot of confusion for people). Also possibly fixed in updates, but it's hard to tell.
Cool app
Nice work on this app
Worst app ever
Don’t waste your time downloading this app. Save yourself time and frustration trying to connect to your Roland piano. All you get is “Cannot connect. Try again later.” I’ve tried several different devices, both android and iOS and none of them worked.
Expands the features of your Roland FP-10 but says incompatible with FP60X...
A must-have app to use with your Roland FP-10 or other digital pianos. With the FP-10 it enables you to easily change voices, reverb level, transpose, adjust key sensitivity, volume, choose different keyboard modes such as split or dual voice (as well as assign voices and adjust the balance or octave shift of them). Above all else it gives you access to additional sounds on the FP-10. Overall a great app but let down in that it only works in landscape mode! When using my iPad to read sheet music and then wanting to change the settings of the FP-10, it is very annoying having to keep rotating the iPad to use this app. Hope this can be address in the future. Update - So far I have been unable to connect this app to the FP60X. It keeps saying this piano is incompatible. The older piano partner app works though but is rather limited. Anyone know how to fix this? Also annoying the app only works in landscape and on a 11 inch iPad Pro.
Disappointed!
I am very disappointed, when I open the app it crashes, it takes 3 or 4 attempts to get it going. Using the app is the only way to know the metronome tempo, which is a bit silly. I am learning to play and need the metronome daily for practice and to see my progress. It’s just a bit of a faff! The rest of the app is ok, the note reading and ear training are fine. The recording is ok but it’s not easy to find specific recordings afterwards.
Has a piano partner mini game!!
It's so good that the game I play in Roland piano partner was so good!!!
Very happy with the app
Works perfectly with GP-607. Additional Rhythms would be appreciated :)
Not great
Can’t even conenct
It has its prose and cons
When I record something it puts it in a different instrument but it is useful because you have access to more sounds and you can see all the songs there sheet music. It could use some fixing, but over kinda good
Issues getting sounds from Rhythms & Flashcard
App connected to FP-90 using iPad Air on 14.4.2 via USB connection. No note sounds in Flashcards, no sounds in Rhythms and error messages saying notation can’t be displayed in Scales. So far not very useful - although I did discover the app will play Flashcards in disconnected iPad.
Won’t connect
Every single time i want to use my piano with this app, i have to delete it and reinstall it, otherwise it just wont connect to my piano. I have the FP-10 and though its connected to my ipad, it wont connect to the app. It just says scanning. The only way i can fix this is if i delete the app and reinstall it. Please, for the love of God…. Fix this
Great app
It got me to start playing and recording new song ideas again.
Horrible app
This app is too difficult to use. It doesn’t automatically connect to the piano when turned on. I have to manually select it every time. The front on the sheet music is too small, and there is no way to zoom or adjust it. I am using my iPad and it’s still smaller than standard sheet music. The play through of the songs doesn’t allow you to start playing from a particular measure. It will only start playing from the beginning. Doesn’t matter that I’m working on page two or three. Super frustrating.
Things needed with the app
The App seems to work ok. But the orientation of the screen should include portrait as well as landscape, I use a sheet music app in portrait on stage which having to turn the iPad from portrait to landscape is annoying. Also the contrast with dark gray on light gray doesn’t help when in contrasting light that you get with on stage isn’t helpful.
Crashes constantly
This app has such great potential, but unfortunately it seems to crash constantly for me every few minutes sometimes. So in its current state it’s pretty unusable. The developers seem to have given up on the app by the looks of things too.
Saving new default settings
I have not been successful in getting my Roland RP-102 piano to save my preferences as new default settings (the piano’s manual describes how to use the ‘function’ and ‘volume up’ buttons to do this). Since the app is designed to change these settings, why isn’t there a button in the app to save a new default? Seems like an obvious oversight to me…
Great app if you understand basic technology
Great app if you know the basics of using technology.
App won’t open
I can not open the app.
Fp 90
V 2.0.12 works perfect.
Volume Slider & Connection Issues
The moment I increase or decrease the volume slider with this app, it just takes off on its own in that direction. Please patch this issue as this is a major problem that occurred following the most recent update. Also, app disconnects via Bluetooth or Hardwire for no reason at all. I certainly expect a much more dependable robust app from Roland than this very poorly maintained software. Please invest some dollars and effort into the software so we can utilize your digital pianos without constant issues.
Stops playing drums when in background
And you can’t set different volume for the drums and the piano, so you get the drums very loud in your headphones. Could have been a good app…
Great!
Great app, love all the great features it adds to my rp102. Thanks a lot!
Useless
This app worked for a few days then suddenly stopped 😡 Useless app. Comes with lots of frustration. Roland is focused of selling products, they don’t realize that this simple “app” can turn away potential customers, so they decide to do nothing about it. What could possibly be the problem? I really don’t understand.
Unable to export recordings
The app is quite easy to use, so far the only function that I notice is missing is the option to export recorded music to my phone and share. Or is there another way that I’m not aware of?
Disappointed you can’t save recordings!
I would rate this 4 or 5 stars if you could save recordings! The piano model I have does not allow on board recordings so for the app to not have them either is really annoying! I hope you can fix this! Please, and thank you!!
Please make Roland apps and products accessible to users who are blind/visually impaired
I would respectfully like to ask the Roland company to please consider users with visual impairments or no usable vision. I have found neither your apps or the roland go to be accessible. I would like to use it on its own and if not I would like to use it with an app. Unfortunately because I have no vision I am finding this very difficult.
A great addition to my Roland HP605
The functionality of the app itself is great. Setting up the bluetooth connection (as ever) can be a challenge. Just read the manual and you’ll be OK. My only criticism is that the presentation of the musical scores for inbuilt tunes could be better. Otherwise, for a fee app this is excellent. I look forward to Roland releasing v3 with even more functionality..... More rhythm options? Better score layout? Audio/Midi recording for replay away from the piano?
No update
Don’t buy Roland pianos that use this app because you can’t rely on the app. Last app update = 2 years ago. Nuff said. I now can’t connect my phone to the piano and lost half the piano functionalities.
Works Fine
This works fine with my FP 10 and gives me access to instruments found on the FP 20
Pretty awful
The features would be great if they actually worked without the app either crashing or disconnecting from the piano. It might be better and more stable with a hard usb connection; I haven’t tried but as a Bluetooth to Bluetooth it simple doesn’t work. Very poor, needs some real work.
Can we have dark mode?
I like being able to select instruments quickly and visually with this app, however there are two issues. I seem to have to pick my Piano from the drop down each time I launch this app rather than just auto detecting via Bluetooth. The app is also so bright when you want a dim atmosphere. Please give us dark mode!
Love this App, a must have!!
Won’t buy a piano without this capability again. The whole family enjoy it. We are working towards becoming the modern day Von Trapp’s. A special mention to the the Roland FP30 which has been a god send too. Can’t believe a piano at this price has Bluetooth. First Roland purchase and am now hooked!!!
BUG太多了吧
你们这么大一个公司连一个好用的软件都开发不来?
A very useful feature
Just bought a F140R and downloaded the app. It took several attempts to get it connected to the piano but once connected it works fine. It would be nice to be able to see the piano’s inbuilt rhythms as well as the ones contained within the app, hence the 4 stars.
Recording crash
The app crashes on both my iPhone and iPad when attempting to record from the keyboard.
Needs a serious overhaul
For whatever reason, when I try to look at the scores available for playing along with there is an issue with the metronome. I set it at one speed, and then when I push play on the recording the metronome fluctuates between many different speeds, making the play along feature practically useless. I love my new FP-10, but I had much higher expectations of this app.
Wonderful way to interact, fun training aid
Set up took a few goes initially, but that’s the case with most bluetooth things regardless. Once connected via ipad it just works beautifully. My 9 year old loves practicing with the quiz flash card games and the rhythm function. Fantastic with FP-30. Only comment would be to update the metronome control so you can set an actual bpm (not just faster/slower). Keep up the good work, thanks!
Junk
Won’t even connect via Bluetooth to my new Roland piano. I’ve tried everything several times. This piano goes back to Costco with no box. Ha ha ha Roland!
Great but....
...it can be so much better! It works really well with the FP-30 but at times it needs to be forced closed and relaunched to allow you to adjust volume or look at songs, beats etc. It's worth 4 stars but if the note practice section was more customisable it would be worth all 5!
Limited app
Good Points: Training feature is good, helps to train your ear too. Recording feature is great but... (note bad point) Bad Points: Recording feature stands out, but you CANNOT transfer or share your files. Moreover, you cannot appear to review or play your recordings without the piano being connected. Totally pointless!!! This feature is so important when learning to play a piano. Connecting to the app is totally not logical and more information could be provided. Music could be more modern and more inclusive of different genres of music. I feel Roland is a quality brand but this app does put you off somewhat.
Very limited on the FP-30
There is only one good feature on this app which is the rhythm section which tracks your piano chords and provides a decent backing with drums and bass. The rest of the app is a waste of time, and so much more could have been done with it. The songs section is basically whatever came already loaded on your Roland piano, same with digiscore, which on the FP-30 is a collection of difficult classical music that you would need to be an expert to play. So poor it has to be given away.
