Please add ability to input standing charge
Looks ok so far although I think the home page should have shortcuts to key functions. The one think that could be good is the payback comparison where daily savings are measured against overall investment - only works for people with no standing charge which isn’t common in uk so please add that function in

You fixed it in prior version, and then you reverted to the issue with 7.2.5. Why?
Pretty good, with a few tweaks needed
This app is heaps better than it used to be, and is miles above the Powow one my solar installer uses. I can control my battery pretty well. Two suggested improvements: 1. On the graphs, the colour for solar is almost identical to the colour for import from grid - both shades of yellow - what’s with that?! Import should be grey. 2. It would be good to have more granular control over the battery discharge times. I would like to set both the time AND the level to discharge to overnight, so I can let it use some but not all of my battery overnight, and save some battery for the peak morning times.
Not very good since update
Used to be really happy with this app, latest update has completely changed the layout and names of things, why they made these changes is beyond me, seems they have over complicated something that doesn’t need to be

Die App läuft äußerst stabil und ich bin sehr zufrieden mit der Nutzbarkeit. Das Einzige, was ich mir wirklich noch wünschen würde, wäre die passende App auf der Apple Watch!!! Damit könnte man immer und überall seinen Systemstatus abfragen. Also gern nachreichen. Danke!!!

Funktioniert seit 3 Jahren ohne Probleme
Ich verwende die App seit nun drei Jahren, in der Zeit gab es einmal einen Ausfall der Server, dies wurde aber in der App, als auch im Inline-Portal erklärt. Das kann passieren und war ja nur wenige Tage ein Problem. Das dann alle Torstens und Jürgens unzufrieden sind und schlecht bewerten hilft keinem. Ich kann an der App nichts negatives berichten, auch der Support hat mir bei einer Frage schnell und einfach weitergeholfen. Es gibt regelmäßig Updates und ich bin zufrieden.
Doesn’t work
The app logged me out for no reason and now I have to work out how to get back in, why?
Lacks functionality
The upgrade ruined what was a good app. Previously it provided useful information but now it seems limited, hard to find and difficult to read the graphs …
Software
Notifications do not appear when there is a fault, when there is a power outage, the data is inaccurate and lags.
Latest update
I do not like the latest update, you have taken a simple, easily read page and overly complicated it. Why, to add a fancy house? If it isn’t broken, why fix it?
Alpha ESS G3 Smile
The Alpha ESS app is excellent. The graphics are clear and intuitive, making it easy to see at a glance how much energy the solar panels are generating, how much electricity the house is using, and whether you’re importing from or exporting to the grid. I also like that you can enter your electricity tariff to calculate your estimated savings and the payback period for your investment. It’s a really useful feature that helps you understand the financial benefits of the system. The only improvement I’d like to see is support for more advanced charging schedules and better integration with UK smart tariffs, allowing the app to optimise charging automatically based on electricity prices. Overall though, it’s an excellent app that’s easy to use and gives a clear picture of how the system is performing.
Limited control! Needs to be sorted
I am bitterly disappointed in the way my batteries and this app work. I purchased these and the app should be fully functional for my personal use if I choose. Instead there is limited functionality and problems with it controlling my energy usage from the grid or my batteries. I personally believe the government needs to put in place regulations that protect the owners of these batteries! It’s not a great solution to our power issues! I would not purchase again!
Please change decimal places
The app is great. Just change it so the %ages and kwh figures are all fixed width at 1 decimal point. The constant flux of 1, 2 or no decimal is jarring and ugly. Otherwise its good.
Latest update more confusing
The latest update has made it harder to understand what it discharging at what time and when to charge. The self consumption just does “magic” but still discharges everything to the grid…
Widget no longer helpful
I’d like to see the widget return to providing the current state of charge, grid draw and solar generation. Also, it would be good if you could change the font size for the figures in the app - they are currently too small for my vision.
Sehr gute Applikation
Läuft als Apple Variante sehr stabil und schnell. Sehr vielseitige und genaue Übersichten. Tiefe Steuermöglichkeiten über (Einstellungen-Zahnrad) im eigenen System funktionieren problemlos. Stetige Updates und sehr hohe Verfügbarkeit geben volle Punktzahl. Bitte weiter so!
Can’t get it repaired
The installer won’t fix or reset it or call me back SOLARMAXX is a terrible company and the app is no use to me if the batteries don’t work.no contact info for the app either so I can reset the thing none.
OK but could be better
I find the app works well for me. My issue is the data and its lay out. The available data is poorly displayed. Other battery providers appear to have better apps that are more modern in comparison. I’m sure with a bit more effort AlphaESS could update the app. The Hive app you’re involved with is better. Edit: Thank you for the extra charge time this is very useful for anyone who is on the Octopus Cosy tariff. I have been changing this manually every day which has been a pain. I have added an extra star to the rating but there is still more improvement to do?
Graphing repeatedly fails
Over the last month, the graphing data disappears for hours at a time, sometime reappearing after an issue is lodged, sometimes not. Not very stable. Much prefer old interface with more info on the screen rather than a large ‘House’ with spread out data. Would be useful if cloud system errors were shown rather than having to lodge an issue before data gets restored. Nearly given up relying on the app for reliable system status.

System down
Very disappointed. The app only worked for 1 day after installation and now on the 2nd day no data showing at all. I cannot monitor my solar production, battery status, or energy usage. Not sure if the system is down or if there is a connection issue, but the app is currently unusable. Please fix this as soon as possible.
Appears to be much improved
Got an Alpha ESS in Feb 2023. All elements of the app seem to work ok, can charge and discharge in 15m intervals, force charge, can’t force discharge more than your current load. The only way to feed-in (sell to the grid) is by having a full battery and excess solar. But that’s fine as I’m not on Octopus Flex where you might want that. Each screen has improved with each update, refreshes quick enough, and whilst it’s never going to be 100% accurate, it seems good enough to tell whether your equipment is doing its job and saving the planet….
Should have left it alone
I was very happy with the app until the April 2026 update. It may have been required for bug fixes but they shouldn’t have messed with the UI. Apart from unnecessary cosmetic changes the new version provides less information than the previous one. Where has the feed in amount gone?
Tiny Font
The app displays the equipment operation very well. The only complaint I have is that the font is so tiny I need to find my glasses to read. Completely unnecessary.
Extra charge period
The app works really well. I would like to request a 3rd charge period as the Octopus Energy company in the UK has a ‘Cosy’ tariff of 3 reduced cost periods in every 24 hours. A 3rd charge period would remove the need to manually change the timings on the app every day. If you need more information just let me know. Thank you.
Terrible app
I have had the battery for 6 months and the app hasn’t worked correctly for nearly the entire period.
A useful app
The main improvement I would like to see which is missing from this update is the ability to set the charging and discharging times in 30 minute increments.

Hate the new look and layout. It was very clear and easy to use. Now it sucks. Please change it back. I don’t know what “user feedback” you listened to!

I find the app very good. Would be even better if we can set half hour settings and have the option to remove the decimal point in display.

Too many errors on the new app. The old one was working fine without any issues.
Limited charging
My issue with the app is there is only 2 charging periods which means you cannot optimise Octopus’ tariff structure. I have contacted the multiple times, and they tell me it’s not possible due to the kit I have. This is rubbish, an manually I can do this so there is no physical restriction. Last time I contacted them they said “don’t contact us again”!
Great app
Since having my solar and Alpha ESS battery system installed, I find myself staring at this app regularly, it’s almost addictive. The layout and graphics are all just right and give me all the control that I need over the battery.
Not working
Not working now won’t let login. Want verification code sent via email but doesn’t send an email.
App Faults
On the whole the App is great, the main bug is there no half hour setting for battery charge/discharge, so on say Octopus Go tariffs (00.30-04.30) you can only charge for 3 hours not 4 hours as it’s only possible to select full hours EG 00.00 or 01.00, such a small change would make a big difference, also there’s a bug that reports 1.2KWH feed in or grid consumption randomly even when off grid, it’s always 1.2 KWH too strangely, great easy to use app apart from these minor issues.

Feed-in Setting Has Disappeared
In the latest version, the Feed-in Settings (under Function Settings) have disappeared. What happened to them, they are vital to those who export electricity? This is a really important bug which is quite concerning. Overall the app has a lot of useful data, but the UI is not very intuitive. This is especially the case if you have two batteries in series - for some items you need to select the Host battery/inverter, others the Follower, or maybe you need to select the whole system. It is not clear which to select, nor is it obvious whether the data shown is for part of the system, or for the whole system. Function Settings should also be easy to find whichever option is selected, and not only visible when the Host battery is selected. As an app developer myself, the best advice is to sit down and watch non-engineers play with it. The problems, and also many of the solutions, will become apparent quite quickly and you will be able to dramatically improve both the UI, and your app review score.

Works for me
I had the Alpha batteries installed 4 days ago and installed the App at the same time. Seems to be working well for me, monitoring the battery level, PV output, demand & grid input. As with a previous review the time input of whole hours is a negative, especially when using Octopus Go with cheap rates being 0030-0430, but otherwise good.
Third charge period
This app needs a third charge period for the UK so we can charge these batteries.

Apps decent appart from setting charging times can only be set on the hr! Even though it allows 15 mins to be selected! After you save it reverts back to every hr
