It will be really great when you can link , mirror between several devices on one account.
Cannot make a PDF of the journal plus Print Promise not realized.
Either provide the print function or drop it. Stop advertising that it will be coming! At least allow a user to make a pdf of the journal?
Paper alternative
So this hasn’t been updated in a while, no new features but a good alternative to Paper. Glad I found this and hope it gets an update.

Impossible de désactiver le dessin au doigt sur iPad, pas de raccourcis, l’écriture est pas précise et fonctionne une fois sur dix… Impossible de personnaliser ses paramètres, si l’application était plus friendly pour les utilisateurs elle serait vraiment top mais ce n’est pas le cas.
Best writing experience but…
I love writing the writing experience on this app. Definitely great for that. BUT it needs a full screen view mode without any of the menus!!! Please do that. Also double tap to undo would be clutch.

Not Great
I downloaded this to use as an art journal and I regret spending money on the subscription. I can’t set an image as a background, clip a page to stay in the boundaries of the page, or lock parts while I adjust others leading to me accidentally moving something unintended instead and I can’t undo movements. The pens and brushes are a joke and there seems to be no easy way to access any sort of settings. Tried adding text and when I went to select fonts the list was empty. Don’t spend money on this. It’s not worth it. I wish I could get a refund.

Great! Wonderful app but small issue. :(
The app is really good! I love it, the page flips are really neat, and it’s just fun to use. I’ve been using it for quite a while. However, Why the heck do people need to BUY BRUSHES?! You have to get a PRO version of this app to use 99% of its content! That’s fricken stupid and I have to pay for my favorite one! WHY WOULD I HAVE TO PAY FOR A BRUSH THAT SHOULD BE FREE ANYWAYS?! THE PENCIL ONE IS FRICKEN SWEET AND I HAVE TO PAY FOR IT?!?! I’m not spending money on 6 BRUSHES! Plus, selling data isn’t very pogchamp of you tbh. :/
Update on False Advertising
It is now 2024 and there still is only a promise of future printing of books. This is a BIG DISAPPOINTMENT. Otherwise I like using it.
A wonderful app!
It’s so easy to assemble photos, sketches, and writing. I enjoy using this app with the pencil & iPad but it works ok with fingers only. The only thing missing is output of the entire journal and that’s under development.
They don’t update or improve
Don’t get me wrong. I love trace and I use all their apps pro subscription. For years I have been suggesting improvements to at least come close to moleskin flow or paper or even apple note.but nothing ! No updates no improvements. All pens are not scaled well for the size of the paper so you can really draw anything on one side. It’s just really poor compared to other design & art journals
Great app but could use a few improvements.
Great app. Been using it for a whole day straight and can’t put it down. Could easily be five star with just a couple of features. 1. Full screen mode. Seems like something that should’ve been there from the beginning. Feels a little cheap in its current state. Full screen mode would help it feel more like a full sketching app. 2. Option to hide menus. When making the sketchbook as big as I can sketching, the menu often gets in the way. Should be a way to temporarily hide menu. 3. Double tap to use eraser. Another one that seems very basic. Almost every notetaking and sketching app has this. For me, eraser is just as important as pencil. With these three things added, this would easily be a five star app.
Needs a few things...
This app needs the ability to insert pages, rearrange them, and for once and for all, come through on the promise to be able to have a journal printed through moleskin!

Great app but is missing that sketchy pencil feel with options. Like a sharp, slightly used and dull pencil which procreate has.

Not so private journal. PRIVACY
If you are looking for a personal journal don’t bother downloading this app. Apparently you give all your journal entries to Morpholio and third parties (selling your data/idea/inventions). This can be found in their privacy policy. Also their contact information in the privacy policy page is invalid so we cannot reach out to validate this. —— Morpholio reserves the right to use images, graphics, text, video, audio or any other content that is posted, uploaded, displayed or stored on Morpholio products, applications, software, and Services for any purpose as Morpholio sees fit for the purposes of promotion and advertising. This app is necessary!
I love this app. It's incredibly useful for writing down creative ideas. Two things I truly hope to see included in the future: ability to sync notebooks between devices, and a simulated bookshelf for your notebooks. I feel with those additions, this would be an app very close to perfection!
False Advertising
I have been using this app since late 2017. For three years they have been advertising “print to Moleskin—Coming Soon.” In the app itself they say, “email us to let us know you want this feature.” This feature has never materialized. It’s false advertising...don’t; fall for it. Meanwhile, there is no way to output your journal as a whole, you can only save images one-at-a-time. My sketchbooks are over 300 pages each, so the idea of archiving them a page at a time is ludicrous. I like drawing in Morpholio a journal...it’s light and easy. However, having an app that you can’t print (or PDF) from is a fatal flaw. The company must remove the false advertising from the App Store—and Apple should ding them for the false advertising.
Bring in features from Trace
I use Morpholio Trace constantly and love it. I wish that this app had more of the features from that application. Things like single finger panning and double tap on Apple Pencil to change tools would make this go from decent to invaluable. Also switching between apps of the same family should be seamless and I consistently find myself forgetting which app is open and trying to use certain methods and techniques from a different app. Make the user experience more universal across apps.
Ridiculously good
I NEVER leave reviews, but had to for this. It seriously just ticks all of the boxes I’ve been looking for. Clean and attractive set up (not bright or obnoxious like others), flippable pages, changeable backgrounds, AND nothing important is hidden behind a paywall. Any paid features and extras, not necessities, which is a great change. My only feedback/suggestion would be to perhaps add the “smoothing” effect that some other handwriting apps have? Definitely not needed, but it’s just about the only thing missing.
Another data grab
App simply shows you a couple of things and then locks up on a login screen. Why do I need an account for a notebook app?
This needs a lot of work before it is worth the effort and cost
I don’t see any features that justify a subscription cost. It’s exceedingly simple and lacks the basic function you would associate with any premium app of this nature. I’m not saying that from a freemium reliant point of view. I have Procreate, ArtStudio Pro, Affinity Photo, fully unlocked Infinite Printer, ArtRage, Forger, Sculptura, Putty. My review is from the perspective of being fully willing to spend money if it’s justified. The account is primarily separate from the app. If you want to discontinue the auto renew, you have to log in to your account, separate from the login using the app, and it isn’t an intuitive navigation. It may not be intentional, but it could definitely take advantage of people that get frustrated trying to unsubscribe and end up giving up. It doesn’t incorporate any Apple Pencil functionality, which is a staple in a premium app or service. You can’t set your finger to have a separate function when an Apple Pencil is connected. Where most apps will let you pan around or change pages with a finger and only write in the page with the Pencil, this app requires the use of a manual toggle that activates the Drawing tool or the page turning tool. All screen touches with fingers leave a drawing mark. If you like to set your hand on the screen and draw with a pencil, you’re going to leave a lot of marks that you don’t want to. It is such a rudimentary program that I can’t actually believe that it has a subscription. You can get a 1x purchase app with everything this has, and about 100 more functions. If you want to pay for the bare minimum without Apple Pencil support, this is the app for you.
Print to Moleskine feature?
Love this app. There are some small gripes and it could definitely use an update, but overall, it’s a great app. Still waiting for the print to Moleskine feature.....
I’m blown away!
SUCH an intuitive interface. I’ve been looking for an app that I could sketch up my woodworking projects on, and CAD is just too much. This app is PERFECT. I love the ruler, the grid background, the variety of colors and pen styles, and the ability to pin pictures and post-its. Seeing all my customers’ pictures next to my design really helps me dial into their style. Couldn’t be simpler, even without a pen. I wish I would have found this app sooner!!
Just OK
This app has not been updated in over a year. Several other apps are way ahead of this one in many features. This app could be great and I see much potential but looking at the current options it has a long way to go. You need to be able to sync to other devices. Until there is an update I would suggest elsewhere.
Review
The app is good. Though it lacks basics of sketching features like working in layers, ability to move your sketch from next page to other, etc. ALSO IT lacks ability to overlay and sketch on an image . The inability to move or cut paste content from one page to other is also a major issue. The limited number of brush choices is also a drawback when one talks of sketching. Paying that much for an app that lack such major features is a huge negative. A lot of scope of progress urgently required !
This app needs some love
Where other Morpholio apps have progressed, adding custom colors and palettes, decent export capabilities and bug smashing, this app sits on the shelf. You can’t export to an image: you must use e-mail, and it forces you into Apple mail instead of something better. No way to export an image to Photos where you can have more fun with it. No! You must do a screen capture! Ugh. Since I’m sketching from life, I want to mix my own colors: there’s never the right color in the palette. Their palettes are predetermined according to someone’s idea of what I need, not what I really need. Worse, analogous colors are spread randomly across all palettes - so if you want olive green (does it even have olive green?), go hunting! If you want tints and shades, forget it unless someone thought them useful. If we’re talking real sketching, I’d have blendable colored pencils, markers and/or watercolors in my kit. This app just doesn’t work that way, alas.
Heaven
I have been journaling, sketching, etc, in paper notebooks all my life. A few months ago, I found that I could no longer have a paper journal that would remain private (snooping family member). No more journaling for me. Depression followed. This app on my iPad with the Apple Pencil has saved my sanity. I can hand write and add photos, draw, paint, collage- everything that I used to do- I just do it digitally now. It’s as close as I ever expect to get to the “real thing”- and my digital art skills have vastly improved. I love it.
Forces You To Provide Info for an “Account”
I wish I could say that I loved this app; I was ready to love it. Unfortunately, the very first thing that pops up is a message telling you that it “works best “ with notifications turned on, and then prompts you to allow notifications. Not cool. I don’t WANT notifications from ANY app. So, notifications declined. Next thing, you need to sign up for an “account”. Why accounts? Well, there is a clickable link that allows you to ask that exact question! And it tells you basically that it will “work best” if they know your personal information, such as your email address. Certain features, “like productivity sharing” and “morpholio cloud storage” need you to have an account! Well, Morpholio, if I want to share my stuff with someone, I will do it my own way, thanks, and I already have enough of my OWN storage; I don’t need yours. And you don’t offer to provide me the tools WITHOUT using those “features” that require me to provide my personal data to you. (Yeah, yeah, I know, you’re not going to sell it to anyone, right, so you say. But I still don’t want to have to give it to you, because I like my PRIVACY.) So the fact that your app is ONLY available to people who give you their personal information really begs the question, “What ARE you going to do with all that personal info you get when someone opens an ‘account’ with you?” You COULD let people use the digital sketchbook tools WITHOUT an ‘account’ but require them to have an ‘account’ if they WANTED to share or use your storage or print out their books. But you don’t. This tells me that the ONLY reason you offer this supposedly nifty (I wouldn’t know) app for FREE in the App Store is so that you can GATHER OUR DATA once we download it. And I don’t know about anyone else out there, but I am frankly SICK AND TIRED of having to give out my email address for everything from ordering a sandwich to clipping a coupon, to opening a supposedly “free” sketchbook app! And then to have to go and click “UNSUBSCRIBE” in all the millions of emails I get from all the companies who thought it was in my best interest for them to have unlimited access to my email inbox. ENOUGH ALREADY. Folks, something is NOT FREE if you have to “PAY” with your personal information in order to use it, and then “PAY” again with your TIME in order to get them to stop emailing you, and possibly KEEP “paying” when their database gets hacked or they DO share your information with undisclosed third parties, and your other accounts get compromised and you’re forced to change all your passwords and so on. VOTE WITH YOUR FEET, people. Stop acquiescing to everyone forcing you to give them your information! There is just NO LEGITIMATE REASON for this practice. Facebook has made you all into compliant zombies, and now every other “Developer” on the block asks for your personal data. Just SAY NO.
It’s just ok
After reading the praise and great reviews of this app I tried it and even signed up for a premium subscription... I wish I hadn’t. My biggest complaint, using an Apple Pencil on an iPad the palm rejection is mediocre at best. I constantly find the page zooming and marking from my hand and wrist which has been an exercise in frustration.

Misleading. You must sign up.
A "journal" implies private, personal. Disappointed and mislead. If they said upfront that you must subscribe, I would have not installed. And I will pass on giving my email to a company that uses this sort of deceptive tactics.
Journal is great. Sharing of notebook not so much
This would be my firms go to note taking app if we could share and collaborate project notebooks.
Need 2 options
Almost what I’m looking for in art journal. 2 things absolutely needed in order for me to renew membership- 1) Text block edits. What in the world?? Journal and you can’t add to text block or edit text once you accept it on the page. Another head scratcher 2) can’t sync your journal among devices. Can’t even back up and add to other devices so you can view your journal on the go on phone.

For a long time user of the paper version, this app hits the perfect balance of digital tools with analog usability.
Palettes?!
Are you telling me I've got to buy even colors!? I understand that developers need to make money on its products, but this is more than ridiculous. If thats the scheme, they shoudn't offer a free app

Good concept, but key limitations hamper its usefulness
There’s lots of good to say — good writing and decent sketching (if you take into account it’s a journal and not a full-blown sketch app). But one of the big advantages of a digital notebook over a paper on is the ability to transport, export, and exchange information with other tools and across devices. Unfortunately, Morpholio Journal has very little of such capability. There’s no ability to export the journal to my Mac, for example, and I can only export individual spreads as jpegs. So it’s very much as if I’m using a paper notebook, except my paper notebook is better for sketching and writing. Robust exporting capabilities and the ability to port the njournal over to my Mac would be big usability improvements. I still use the app, but I continue to wait for the one app in this category that satisfies the core needs in a digital sketchbook-journal.
Easy to Use
It's beautiful, versatile and easy to use. Only been using it a couple of days - but so far it's incredibly useful! I see amazing potential and have very high hopes. Will re-review after a few months.
Very Misleading.
I've been searching for an app that I can write my poetry with. When I clicked on this app it said JOURNAL. But I thought is this the right type of journal? So I looked in the description and it clearly says "Images or TEXT to capture and develop your most important thoughts" What I was dismayed to find is that this is NOT a journal for writers. Just for drawing and the like. The description is very misleading. If you are looking for something to even to just write any of your thoughts down. I do not recommend this app. Honestly I wish I could rate this lower than one star.
Deleted sketches
I liked the app it was great for sketching however all but one of my sketches disappeared. When I tried to work on the only one that remained, part of that sketch disappeared too as if I had used the undo button. I can't trust it will save them now. Deleting the journals is also tricky.
Almost
Thought this was exactly what I needed, but ... the clear button is right next to the undo and I discovered that it’s easy to accidentally erase a lot of work and that there’s no undo for the clear. Not sure I can safely use it so ...
