Awesome news
All the news from all the sources in 1 place.
5 stars to 1. No updates in 2 years
The title says it all and for the last week just won’t load. When it worked originally, for years there were regular updates and good news source without having to pay each one a subscription. But lately in last year or so it only provided free news sources and limited mainly to the UK and sports. Waste of money and ultimately it doesn’t load for me and support? If you read this- I have unsubscribed until you fix these issues. No updates for 2 years, seriously? Cash grab or what?
Excellent
Content and presentation is excellent! Two drawbacks 1) service is slow to present breaking new news, other news feeds have new news many hours (like 18 hours) before it shows up on inkl 2) the price is steep for news that is no longer “new”.
Good idea poor execution
Great idea but in the end App UI and core features awful to use - thumbs down article and similar keep showing up - Small buttons make it impossible to thumb down an article in a single shot of it worked - This is 2026 if you can't figure out an easy way to use and customize the UI you're cooked.
No distractions, but limited sources and no support
The great: I read more news with inkl because I’m not carpet bombed by ads. The not-great Sources are very limited. 50% of the top 10 articles I see for many of the topics I follow come from a single publication. The even less great: I contacted support 3 times over the last month of paid use and haven’t received an acknowledgement or reply. I don’t know if anyone is on the other end of this company.
My trusted news aggregator
A service clearly built with passion and care for the user, the news is filtered and refined from many sources.
Can’t leave
Poor customization. Poor functionality by design. You can buy subscription in app, but you can’t cancel. Designed to be a bad experience.
Heavy UK focus
5 stars for the design of this app. 5 stars for the thought process and journalistic integrity. Beautiful interface and no annoying ads. However, it’s heavily UK focused, especially with sport. Every other story was on formula one racing which I have no interest and even though I kept hitting the thumbs down to see less content it still heavily focused on UK and needs more US focus in news and sport. I’ll come back later for a second look down the road but for now didn’t serve my purpose.
Mostly amazing
Argh. I’m sorry I have to update my review after using this app for several months. It’s a great concept, but the execution is unfortunately very poor. If there is curation, I don’t discern it. It just feels like any other news feed, only with lower quality sources, and stale topics. There are a few great sources, but the large majority I’ve never heard of. One I see often I went to the website and it’s just a news feed with no other information - sketchy. Also, some “news” clearly is paid advertising, like for VPNs.
Needs more work
I want to say I love this app, but it just refuses to personalize to my news interests! I can’t block certain topics I don’t care about, like sports and media. Thumbs up and down doesn’t appear to do anything (and is poorly implemented because the button ‘safe area’ is so tiny).
inkl
A good variety of articles and a good set-up.
A CRUEL JOKE
This app claimed ‘ your trial has ended ’ , immediately after I installed and signed in. It’s a scam.
Good on world, needs to improve on Australia
Delighted to have access to global mastheads, from both the right (like The Telegraph) and lefty specialist journals (like Politico). But the only Australian newssites it opens up are from the left-of-left, like Crikey. The Guardian and the ABC I access for free already. No sign of centrist media like The Age, or centre right like The Australian.
Meh whatever
Nothing unique about this app. Rather useless, at least half the curated articles are from news sources behind paywalls. So.. you can’t read any of those articles. Basically, useless.
Excellent app and great layout but
Some of the news sources isn’t working since December 2023, I tried emailing them about it several times, they never replied. Very unfortunate really.
Loads of content worth paying for
The more I use Inkl the more I discover. The sources are wide-ranging and many are major newspapers and journals. There are numerous options for personalising content through sources, categories and topics. You can stick to the extensive tabbed sections (National, World, Leisure etc) or explore the amazing Explore section where you can access a daily bulletin, specific sources, people in the news, and more.
Articles not accessible due to paywalls - requests to cancel ignored
The advertised outlets on inkl still have paywalls for articles and are not accessible. Despite repeated attempts, they have ignored my requests to cancel and refund suscription.
Great App — room for improvement
I would absolutely love if there were actually many more customizable options. inkl touts customizability, but I don’t feel there is that much of it here. Apple News, for instance, allows you to customize the topic of their widgets, but inkl only allows “lead stories,” which I’m REALLY not a fan of because they’re all stories I don’t want to hear about. I don’t care to constantly read about politics, business, and Covid-19. I’d also like the ability to change the fonts!
Stale news
Over the past few weeks, their feed updates maybe once in 2 days. The headlines/feed remains static for 2-3 days. Think I will cancel the subscription.
Please enable choosing a font style
Just downloaded the app. The font is unbearable
Brilliant
Inkl provides access to a wide range of popular and important sources. By contrast to Apple News, Inkl allows users to print articles or save to pdf. Highly recommended.
Another bias-spin news site.
I had high hopes of finding an additional unbiased news outlet. Inkl claims to be one. But the article titles are left sided click bait, and the content is no better. I just finished reading the Dr. Ford vs Justice Kavanaugh piece. Wow, what a biased spin. Absolutely no mention that the three people she asserted would have knowledge of the alleged incident all vehemently denied knowledge of her claims. And these were her hand-picked star witnesses. Where are the ethics and editorial reviews of these articles?
Great - with some gaps
Great service which I very much enjoy. But for Australian news it is heavily focussed on SE of Australia. Hopefully will change
Poor story browse/navigation screen layout
Most recent updates (May/June 2022) changed the browse story navigation layout by restricting story list to a left panel (on iPad). This diminishes browsing usability. Makes finding stories to read more difficult. May cancel subscription for what was otherwise a good way to access news. Please restore previous full screen story browsing list view.
Good start
But if I’m gonna pay for a news app your gonna need to give me some AI features like summarize page.
Best news app ever
I couldn't afford the 10+ news services I wanted to get a broad global view of what's going on. I'm still paying for The Guardian and New York Times, but really like the curation and variety of INKL. Highly recommend this app
Ran away?
I tried to email them to cancel my account everyday for 2 months. No one responded. Rediculous.
Good, and improvements possible
Very good collection of news stories from around the world. Suggestions for improvement would include: More mainstream sources (eg here in Australia there’s no feeds from the Fairfax press or The Australian), and Less 24 hour news cycle stories and more considered opinion pieces
Keeps crashing…
I really wanted to start using this app but I can barely make it into my third article without it crashing. I’ve gone as far to delete and re-install and everything, not sure what’s going on. Any help would be appreciated!
Good, but …
I want news without ads, and am willing to pay for it. I assumed that’s what I paid Apple News for, but it’s riddled with ads. But what’s the deal with not showing the date/time of the articles? The intention appears to be to mask how long it takes for articles to appear. In my opinion, the lack of dates compounds the latency problem rather than masking it. I also don’t see how I can get Washington post or New York Times articles, even with my own subscription. Inkl could have additional subscriptions for each premium newspaper, which would be worthwhile to have all news in one place, and without ads. I love the idea, and the price is more than reasonable, but I still have to use another news service to get timely news. And if I’ve already read the news that pops up on Inkl a day or two later, I’m not likely to want read it again. For this reason, I’m not sure if I’ll continue.
Burst the bubble
My news feeds elsewhere tend to fit how the algorithms perceive my political bias. INKL provides me with the opportunity to burst that bubble and read different perspectives from diverse published sources around the world.
Paid for subscription, no subscription, no response
First of all the news is great. Good enough that I wanted to subscribe. So I paid. And nothing. I sent a message through the app to ask that my subscription be activated. Nothing. Another message through the app. Nothing. Another and another. Nothing, nothing. I sent a message from my personal email address. Nothing again. Another, asking for a refund. Nothing. A terrible service. It took my money and gave me nothing. EDIT: Sent email to developer, and still no response, no refund, nothing, days later. I was also charged for a second month of a subscription I’ve been trying to cancel for weeks. I’ve also sent more messages through the app and from my personal email address. This is absolutely appalling service.
Smart News at your Fingertips
I love to be informed but sitting quietly with a stack of newspapers isn’t achievable. I love that Inkl gives me that chance to inhale the headlines on the fly and to actually read if the time permits. Yes please!
False Advertising ?
Inkl: Your news without paywalls ? Monthly Subscription: 14 dollar paywall ? All fine to get people to pay for their news, and charging more then Netflix charged until a week ago is fine as long as people understand and agree that the service is worth paying for. But telling people to sign up for a news without a paywall and then charging $14 (Australian) a month smacks of the dirty practices that you would expect from a bad used car salesman, not someone providing a news service for the customers benefit. The fact that other App developers are using the same practice is not an excuse. Not saying that the news you provide is not worth what you charge, but if you were more honest in your marketing then I might consider giving you a better rating.
Still good but not as good after ap update
This news ap used to be completely on point—not a ton of news every day but what you got was always quality. The best feature was “good news” which had positive articles about science, culture, art, etc. Inkl must have changed the algorithm recently though, because now there’s a lot of celebrity click-bait in daily news, “good news” is full of weight loss articles, and “science” has dozens of headlines about The Mandalorian, legos, etc that just happen to mention the word “space.” Still better than Apple News though.
My one stop news app
Inkl is now the only news app I have on my phone. I was looking for a news app that would provide a more balanced and varied non-biased daily news stream from across the world and now I’ve found it. I had a few subscriptions going before Inkl so now I’m saving money too. A little side bonus!
App crashes, can’t open an app
Can’t open an app, it crushes and I don’t know how to re-install it or make it work.
Great start
Impressed with this app. I look forward to seeing Inkl develop. An earlier morning edition and the ability to zoom images would be great additions. Still working through its functionality but so far so good.
Since last update a few days ago I keep getting a notification badge with no way to get rid of it.
I have a notification badge that randomly appears without a notification and no way to clear it other then shutting off the notification or badge. Please fix. Otherwise an awesome app.
Widget not working
The apps widget isn’t loading anything. Aside from that, its designed well. Will update this review following the trial.
Best News App
I’ve been looking for something like this since Zite was bought out by CNN and Flipboard, and then ceased to exist. Great interface, easy to use, quality content and a good combination of machine algorithm and human curation. Thank you for your app. My only caveat is the subscription price. I’m lucky enough to be using a student discount but if I wasn’t it would be harder to afford on a low income.
Won’t let you unsubscribe.
Think carefully about signing up as they are world class spammers. Only gave them one star as it’s compulsory.
Useful news aggregator
I’ve been looking for a news aggregator for awhile. This app is great at providing a wide range of articles. Even just reading the headlines gives you a decent idea about what is happening in the world. The only feedback is that the news is not really personalized. So I am still having to manually search for some topics. However, I am still new to the app and it might improve as I use it.
I wish I could give you guys 5 Stars!
This is a really, really nice news aggregate, but I need to see a few more features before I pay $10/mo for it. It would be nice to have a time and date stamp on each article so we know, just by scrolling, if it’s today’s news, or yesterday’s news. It would also be nice to have a feature to ‘hide’ certain articles that we’ve read, or articles that we just don’t want to see, because of ‘personal ‘triggers’, or news that is ‘offensive’, or hits ‘too close to home’. It would also be nice to be able to save the “saved articles” offline so they can be read on the airplane, or without an internet connection. Many of the ‘on’ ‘off’ buttons on the settings tabs, that allow or disallow certain topics simply don’t work. I’ve turned off “our picks’, ‘business’, and ‘analysis’ tabs, and the tabs still don’t go away. The emailed morning edition’s articles redirect to the website, not to the app, so if I click on the link in the email to ‘read more’, I need to login to the website, because the link isn’t directed to my INKL app…. It would be nice to have the link from the email to open up in the app, so I don’t need to sign in every morning to read the article. I’ll easily pay $$$ for a great news app with more features, but right now, the price is just a little too steep without the additional features that I need in a news aggregate. I'd easily pay $5 /mo for INKL as it is, but yeah…. $10/mo right now is just a little pricey, for the limited features and limited functionalities. My 7 day trial expired today.. I really, really wanted to subscribe, but the price is just too steep for the limited features, so I won’t be able to join right now, but I’ll check back often, and when more features become available, I’ll definitely look forward to becoming a paying customer. ❤️
Great app - 1 major flaw.
Love the app and the news selection BUT there are no dates on news items so I don't know if an item is a week old or an hour old, unless I click through to the source. Frustrating on a busy morning.
Great coverage and variety
I often find news items on INKL that don’t appear in my various other feeds so I find it a go-to app when I want a wide range of news items. Well done guys!
Promises but doesn’t deliver
I was quite excited to be signing up to inkl as a student - a really great deal. Though after a month of so the app seems to really only provide stories from a left-of-centre perspective. Whilst I consider myself a Agrarian Socialist I’m also looking to engage with a more diverse set of opinions. I’d rather go for Apple news where you get curation but can also read whole issues.
Text size
Excellent app. However, I find the ‘Normal’ text size too large. Am I the only one? I’m thinking that a ‘Small’ option, with a sans serif typeface (similar to the one used for the preview of articles, under the header) option would make a huge difference.
More of the same untrustworthy junk
Decent articles. But their choices of what to push on notifications are pushing a lot of pure fear and manipulation.
Great app
I’ve really enjoyed using this app as a source of news. Unfortunately, my prepaid $10 has run out and I just can’t work out how to prepay any further. The app seems to only want to offer me a much more expensive monthly subscription. If the prepaid option still exists could someone let me know how to access it? If it doesn’t then I guess I’ll find another source for news as $14 a month is not good value.
