Use the app, lose weight
The title is basically a summary of this review. I have had countless months of jumping from this app to that, but EatThisMuch has helped me lose 30lbs and counting. Don’t rely completely on it, it performs best for you when it’s part of your system, albeit a very important part. You still need to understand your journey, workout and be disciplined. But what this app does miraculously is remove decision fatigue. It empowers you to have the diet plan that works FOR YOU and doesn’t try to change your preferences. Thank you to the creators of this app, it has helped me a lot.
Meal planning by a lunatic
I’m really losing patience with this app and about ready to request a refund. It’s just one series of useless recommendations after another. The same disgusting recipes pushed over and over no matter how many times I block them. Two smoothies for breakfast then three smoothies for lunch. 6 1/2 servings of Greek yogurt in one sitting. What is this supposed to be?
Additional Feature PLEASE!!!!
Could you please add a feature where we can create recipes by multi selecting foods already logged into our planner? I hate having logged something then when I make a recipe need to look up and enter the weight of each item AGAIN. I find it easier to log individual foods to see if they help me hit my goals but I can’t see that while I compile them all into a recipe first. I would appreciate being able to do it after as well. TLDR: pls make “ create a recipe “ able to use items I’ve already logged into meal planner. Thank you in advance
Bizarre recipes
The concept for this app is perfect. I just wish the execution was the same. With recipes such as Romain lettuce and lemon wrap for dinner turkey, hummus, and pickle sandwich for lunch and bell peppers with peanut butter for a snack. I couldn’t find this app very helpful. It was as if they weren’t thinking about the combinations of food as much as maybe just perfecting the nutritional and caloric content. If they can find more palatable recipes I’d give this five stars!
Pantry Doesn’t Have Impact on Meal Plan
I used this app years ago, and loved it. It seemed like the app worked perfectly when it came to generating meals based on pantry items to minimize grocery costs. However, I’ve bought a subscription to start using again recently and it seems like something isnt working right in the app anymore. Putting items in your pantry and generating a meal plan based on it, even with groceries as the generator focus seems to have no effect on the meal plan results.
Perfection ❤️
This app was exactly what I was looking for… automated recipe planning with automatic grocery list building based off your week, pantry management, and syncs with Apple health for tracking. My only complaint is the pantry management system could be more automated, but honestly I’m just happy it checks all my boxes. Well worth the subscription if you love tracking your macros 😊
Budget?
On advertising this app, you talk about being able to provide the app with your budget, however I don’t see any function on this app for that. Is that a switching bait tactic? I also see once I generated my meal plan for the week it generated the wrong number of yogurt. It’s telling me 11 cups and there’s not a single place for my weekly meal plan. Nowhere in there is anything anywhere near 11 cups of yogurt that is insane. This app is buggy. I think I had this once a few years ago. The name must’ve changed, but I have the same problems. Every time I go grocery shopping I would buy things and it would be a waste of money because it generates the wrong things.
Need recipe ratings
The app needs to let us publicly rate and review recipes. Some of the recipes are horrible. However. It is amazing for tracking calories and planning meals. The groceries list feature is the best!
Regret
I did the free trial and it signed me up for the year subscription without me realizing. My mistake, but it’s expensive. Halfway through the year and I’ve used the app once. Not worth it and would love a refund.
Cheapest generator for meal planning is still really expensive on groceries
Wish the cheapest grocery list and meal plan generator wasn’t also very expensive. A set budget option would be nice.
Awesome app!
I really don’t know what I would do without this app! It is perfect for planning and tracking meals, creating a grocery list, even finding new recipes, adding your own recipes, and tracking macros too. Seriously could not live without this!
Recipes are horrible
I wanted to like this app as I have been looking for a healthy meal planner. Unfortunately the recipes are difficult to follow, out of balance, and flat out don’t taste good. Really bummed out.
Pleasantly surprised
I don’t usually review apps unless they’re awful, but I’m really enjoying this one and wanted to put my thoughts out here in case others find them helpful. First, I’ve been using it for 3 weeks and have lost 4 pounds already. Data is the most important factor for weight loss. If you don’t know what’s going in your body, you can’t make good decisions. This app is great for tracking calories and macronutrients. Second, I used to despise cooking. It felt like a long chore with just a tiny reward at the end that didn’t justify the time spent. My FAVORITE thing about this app is the ability to choose from and add your own recipes. I set my food budget low, with fast and simple meals and the app literally does the rest. I find cooking enjoyable now that I have recipe suggestions and instructions right in the app. It even builds you a grocery list and keeps track of the food in your pantry. Finally, the app is easy to use. Sure, there’s some extra tapping through menus that could be streamlined, but the barcode scanning and food/recipe databases save me so much time every week! I plan to keep using the app and look forward to seeing how the devs make it even better in the future.
Not good for vegetarians
The app is a bit difficult to customize first off. There are a lot of customizations available but it’s hard to configure it all well. The recipes for vegetarians just aren’t good. Eating just a block of tofu for a meal— even if it has sauce— is just disgusting in my opinion. The meal options were just not varied and good enough to warrant having this app unfortunately. I hope they improve the vegetarian options in the future.
Not for me
Well-designed app and UI. Recipes can be lackluster and repetitive.
New recipes
I enjoying this app because it provides me with new recipes, I haven’t tried yet.
Tons of tracking
Bye bye personal data!
Best Meal planning App
PROS: This is the only app that's just worked for me. It gets me and I get it. It's a great app just give it a shot CONS: Bad UI/UX , if they improved the UI/UX I think the Apple would be well received by many.
Ok
Worked ok but it got to be the same food and recipes over and over again. Seemed to be a lot of work to enter my own recipes and ingredients. Stopped using before my subscription ended.
Almost great but recipe import broken
I really enjoy this app. However one thing missing from its repertoire are Asian recipes. I tried to add some using common cooking blogs I use to cook my own and unfortunately didnt work. If this could be fixed the app would be perfect
Eat this much! Great app
Super flexible love the option for alternate menu choices and the ability to change servings and the update for shopping lists while tracking what is in my pantry. Added bonus app works across android and IOS. Lost 20 lbs without trying, easy recipes, options for amount of time to prep meals and can even plan special meals using recipe options. Love it!
Useless
This app is honestly useless. It’s impossible to sign into. I’ve tried using my Apple account and 3 different emails, the app simple won’t let me log into it or make an account. I regret the time and phone space I’ve wasted on it.
Please add these
I’d 100% give a 5 star if you would add a few changes. I would like to create a meal from the foods I have under breakfast/lunch/dinner, etc. so where it says add foods or copy. I’d like it to also have an option to “make these foods a meal” so I can use it later. Even better if you can select foods not to add into it the saved meal. Other than that, a massive time saving feature in my other apps like the lose It app is the ability to speak what I ate in one swoop vs typing it all in. Then it allows you to swap or edit if the program misunderstood you and change the amounts. That’s all for now. I hope to see these soon! Great app!
Tried it, Not a Fan
Tried it and was disappointed. Recommend to download Mealime. Much better, user friendly, and a lot cheaper with better meals.
Suddenly won’t load
I’ve been really enjoying this app and using it daily for six weeks, but suddenly it has stopped working tonight! It seems to have logged me out and is getting stuck on the login screen.
Better and Better
I appreciate the constant improvements they make. A really simple straightforward way to stick to your diet
Misleading Free Trial – Charges You Immediately
I downloaded EatThisMuch because it advertised a 2-week free trial, after which I could be charged weekly or annually if I decided to keep it. However, the moment I clicked “Subscribe,” they charged me right away, without giving me those two free weeks. I contacted support to dispute this, but they told me the product is non-refundable. So be careful — despite saying “2 weeks free,” you’ll be charged the second you subscribe. There is no actual free trial. Not happy!
Great meal editing and nutrition stats, boring food
I’m very torn about my experience so far. If the recipe quality and meals were better then I would rave about the app, but the food is not that great. I do love the meal plan, edit and shopping list features. I know I can add my own meals, but I am trying this because I don’t want to do all that data entry.
Exclusions don’t work. Lame.
My son has a lot of food allergies and eating for our family is not a fun experience. Meals are always the same boring stuff and we have to do a lot of meal prepping. Friend recommended this because you can put the food exclusions in and it supposedly generates meals around them. But it doesn’t. For example, my son is allergic to blueberries. Listed it as an exclusion. Saved it. Meal plans listed a blueberry smoothie multiple times throughout the week. Attempted to “regenerate” meal plan, but then other eclipses with his other food allergies would appear. So basically, it’s a no for us. Might work for someone who doesn’t have so many allergies.
Good
It is a good app but it does not allow you to batch cook, you have to be able to spend time cooking every day. If you have the time I’ll recommend this app and if you don’t I would even bother
Macros!
This app has made hitting my nutrition goals so easy. So far, every food I’ve looked up is there with the matching calories, protein, carbs, and fats. I love that you can set your goal and check to make sure you’re hitting it with the meals I make. It’s perfect.
No meal planing
I loved the idea of the app and was so excited until I saw you have to pay to make a plan for the week. What’s the point of the app then? I’m not going grocery shopping every morning just to use this app. Extremely useless and disappointing
Looks nice but one thing..
I noticed there’s only a completely lazy option with a desk job or hard core workout with a physically demanding job..I don’t go out of my way to exercise but do physical factory labor job so I’m not sure what one applies to myself. But the app looks good otherwise.
Eat this much
I looked at this app, I exercise and pretty active, I am also a qualified PT. If I ate this little I guarantee I would be starving. 1300 calories per day… not sustainable for me…
Not sure yet. But maybe?
I've used the app for a week. And I was asked by the app if I like the app. I would say it's ok so far. But I also only started dieting and don't hate my life completely.... so only time will tell if I hate the app one day
So easy to stick to goals!!
This app makes it so easy to hit targets and adjust as you go. With the diet restriction options, grocery list, and being able to swap meals or have leftovers, it’s the only food app I’ll ever use
Meal Planning Locked Behind Premium Paywall
The most basic feature of a meal planning app should be the ability to plan your meals for the week/month. This feature is locked behind their premium paywall. The only thing you can “meal plan” for free is the current day. What is the point of that? How will I even know if I have the groceries I need for that day if I can’t look at the plan ahead of time? I’m all about paying for premium in apps that have extra helpful features, but don’t bait me into a “free” app only to lock the most basic reason I downloaded your app behind a paywall. You could even lock meal planning beyond a week (like month plans) as a premium feature. That makes sense and is worth paying for, but limiting the meal planning to only the current day makes this app completely pointless. So annoyed I wasted time setting up an account.
Grapefruit
A little suggestion to the developer-add grapefruit to the fruit exclusions list. When I add it manually it does work. Grapefruit is not allowed for many on cholesterol medication.
Be aware (hidden charges)
Every time we use a subscription on iPhone, They can be seen in: Settings> name> subscription. However this app does not show! I was surprised to get another charge today since this app was not part of my subscriptions. This is wrong, and it needs a fix.
Missing Feature
Missing the ability to add meal plan to calendar. Biggest issues for me is, it’s not easy to import recipes.
Love this app
Way better than MFP, actually plans out meals for me with my restrictions. Easy to use as well
Completely Useless
At the start I liked this app, however after using it, the app continually tells me to go out and buy $100+ in groceries every week when I have food in my pantry. Last week I needed by some 4 chicken breast for food. The market was having a deal and I got $2.50 off/lb so I doubled up and put them into the freezer. Same with my BOGO broccoli. I add the 10 breasts to my pantry and know I’ve been trying to get the app to recognize that I have food in my pantry. But instead it constantly suggests other things like T-Bone steaks, yogurt and peaches, tuna, and everything but what I have in my pantry. What was the point of adding things to my pantry if you are going to use it? What happens when the store only has 5 chicken breast in a package and I only need 4 for the week? The app doesn’t recognize it.
Simple and Easy Recipes. Strange portion sizes
I really like this app so far. Most people probably came to it out of weight loss desires but my husband and I are both underweight but interested in eating better and possibly getting into a healthier weight range. I thought the calories and macros were interesting. I stayed for the truly easy recipes! Oftentimes recipe apps are filled with weird things that are too hard and I wouldnt like. This app seriously has easy, basic, but yummy suggestions! Many are 5 ingredients or less. Also lots of smoothies too if you’re into that. My only complaint is the portion sizes are often odd and so you have to be careful not to waste food. One recipe asked for 3/16th of a tortilla?? It’s hard when a food comes in one size (a lb of beef, for example) and the app has you use 1/4 lb and not any more for the rest of the week. Just something to keep an eye on. Healthy shopping is already expensive without wasting any. I think it’s up to the consumer to adjust and change recipes to use up the rest of the portions.
The idea is okay, but the foods are ridiculous
I’m sure the menus work great if you’re a stay at home worker or parent, but for the average working person, the diet is absolutely ridiculous. The meals are just plain silly. Every single portion is a multiple ingredient meal, taking time to cook every one. There’s nothing simple about it, and the money I spent trying to follow this diet for a week was astronomical. The idea is good, the execution is a fail.
Great but There is a problem
It's a Great planner, but every time I add a photo of a product to help the app update, it shows for a while, but when I close the app and open it, the photos are gone. I'm not going to add any more photos until you fix it. Thank you
Amazing! Lost 20 pounds
Love love love this app! Helped me lose a ton of weight by planning out meals for me
Pay $60 4 Premium, then Pay $60 4 Premium
What an absolute rip off! Paid $59.99 for Premium back in July. Now the app tells me I need to “Upgrade to premium for more features!” Paraphrasing: “You know! The ones you already paid for!” Seriously?! You sure you wouldn’t rather repossess my car?! Perhaps you’d like the deed to my house?! Why don’t YOU eat THIS much! If it was any good it might almost be worth the hassle. There are good recipes in there, to be sure, but they’re buried under a mountain of mediocre or even bad ones. The planner relies heavily on protein powder. The whole reason to have a meal planner in the first place is to eat mostly whole foods and not rely so heavily on protein powder!!! There are usually three items in any given daily plan that rely on that ingredient. Look, it’s cool having recipes for that kinda thing, but if your daily meal plan has more than one item with protein powder in it, you’re doing it wrong! I thought I’d be able to add some of my own recipes, making it easier to set those meals and generate a grocery list, but holy cow was it a monumental hassle trying to create them. I’d say the only worthwhile thing about the app is being able to peruse the recipes for ideas and inspiration. As far as I know that part is free, but I’d gladly pay a modest annual fee of $5-$10 for the privilege. I definitely will NOT be “upgrading” to “premium”, however, especially in light of the fact that they’ve basically already stolen $60 from me.
Love it
It’s great and easy to use. I wish it had an option to move meals to different days and even swap entire days to a different day. Also, if it alphabetized my favorites, it wou led make it a lot faster and easier to find certain items.
App is glitchy
The information is good but app keeps glitching and doesn’t work properly for me. Sometimes it never wants to open and other times the app freezes. The difficulty to manage the glitches ruins the user’s experience
Super High Sugar Intake
This app isn’t telling me how much sugar I’ve been eating and it’s letting me eat over 130 grams of sugar a day! And there’s no way that I can restrict sugar intake in the app either. Also, it keeps giving me repeating meals over and over again. I would like my money back if possible because I payed 60 dollars and I do not want to keep it for a whole year. Overall this app is nice, but I am really concerned about the sugar intake because that is not healthy at all but i’m just eating what is put on the planner for each week.
