10/10
This is by far the best place to get all news Apple!
Dark mode icon
Please add the dark mode icon. It sticks out like a sore thumb on my screen when in dark mode and I don’t want to delete the app from my Home Screen but I may Edit: still nothing Edit: still nothing… Edit after app update: still nothing.. Edit after another update 12/23: still no dark mode icon. Smh
Please Update
For being an Apple centric app, think it’s time to update it with compatibility for iOS 26… it’s been over a YEAR since its last update. App icon is driving me nuts being blurry and not matching the rest of the Liquid Glass theme.
Mehh
I applaud the ‘we’re against tracking’ message just after downloading. But to then only have a paragraph of an article before paywall puts me instantly off ever using this app or the browser website. What’s the point in smart phone nowadays when you’re constantly tracked or forced to pay ‘to not be tracked’ allegedly! It all just reeks of pish!
Love it but…
I find the app a lot better read than the desktop but subscribing to premium cat be done! I press subscribe and nothing happens! want to be a premium customer but….
Update
Newest update has the Dark Mode icon and fixed the bug that wouldn’t let me subscribe to Premium. Updating my rating to 5 stars 🔥
Can’t Subscribe
App won’t let me subscribe to get rid of ads
Pretty cool!
I’ve always liked 9to5mac and I always read the articles online. I just found out there was an app instead of reading it online. I will try it out and see how it goes.
Can’t go through the subscription
When wanting to subscribe to the 9to5 Mac subscription service. The app decides to crash.
5 stars
Only three stars as you can’t subscribe
No premium upgrade ?
As a reviewer just stated , i cant upgrade to premium. It crashes everytime . Best Apple news app hands down. Why wont you take my money ? 🥹🥲
No Dark Mode Icon Support?
How does a media app focusing day and night on Apple, its hardware and software, design standards, etc. still not have a dark mode icon in 2025? I’m pretty sure I’ve seen articles and social media posts from 9to5 complaining about “that one app” that breaks the home screen when dark mode icons are enabled. Newsflash 9to5Mac: your own app is part of the problem. Part of what you write about is Apple’s attention to detail and critique 3rd party software when it doesn’t adhere to standards. We’ve had dark mode icons for how long now? How do you still not have one? It’s honestly a ridiculous oversight for an organization so focused on this stuff.
Pretty good, some suggestions
The app is good for browsing articles but it is annoying to have to open my browser to view articles since I don’t subscribe. It would be nicer for everything to be in-app.
Buggy mess but ok
It has quite a bad design, and there are lots of bugs, but it does the job
Mac User
9to5Mac App is a pay for use platform App. I find it is not worth the money. There are plenty of free Mac New Apps that I find just as informative. Free version leave you hanging. You need to pay for to read the full story. App leaves you wandering, will I enjoy the articles?
App crashes - please fix
The app crashes every time I try to upgrade to Premium :( I already emailed the developer twice but haven’t received a reply. Still giving 5 stars because I really appreciate the work – but please fix this!! I’d love to pay, but I can’t.
Pay wall
Hides most things behind a pay wall
Excellent, but with Subscriber Bugs
This is the best Apple / Mac news app around and I’m supporting it by subscribing. However, although I subscribe, the app still thinks I’m a free user and limits the articles I can read. I’ve emailed several times about the problem and get no response. Again, I have no problem being a subscriber and I’d like to be one for their entire suite of apps, but this bug needs to get squashed, otherwise there is no point in continuing.
Change it back
The updated app is annoying. It no longer has day breaks in the feed, which I used to know if I was caught up. And this new forcing me to open in browser or “Read ad free” is ridiculous. I can read the article on Facebook easier.
Losing Steam
This has been one of my absolute favorite apps to use over the years. The app not only provides valuable updates and news, but also takes chances on reporting early rumors, allowing for discussion. But recently, the app has become a money grab. We understand that developers and contributors need to make a living, so I was fine with the app going behind a paywall IF you blocked direct ads through the iPhone. Otherwise, it should have remained functional. Now, every story has an advertiser, including the most recent one which blurs out images of all the stories. These are all distracting and has taken away from the purpose of the app.
Great app
Great app, I’d like to be a pro member!
Kicks me out
When I try to subscribe it kicked me out of the app. Every time. All my devices.
More modern
Much more modern design, glad to see the article titles quickly came back. Hopefully the dark mode bug is fixed for good! Now just need to make the restore purchases button work!
Good content but poor font size
In the free version of this app it is not possible to resize the article font size, which is too small for comfortable reading.
Premium version
Now that I have subscribed, it still keeps trying to get me to subscribe. It should know enough to remove that.
Love It
I love 9to5Mac. The news articles are on point and very informative. I’m a firm Apple fan and get the most important news and product updates there. I highly recommend it.
Apparently you have to double pay on iPad and iPhone
After purchasing a premium membership on my phone, apparently it doesn’t extend to any other devices, so I plan to cancel my subscription now.
The app is not loading stories anymore. Please try and fix that. Thank you
App not loading stories
Gets worse every update
Recently developed connection issues - Especially when using a VPN. The comments and sign in page just don’t want to work so I don’t be bothered sanymore. The ‘journalism’ (said ironically) is so poor and the spelling and grammar so bad! They seem to be dragging the bottom of the tank for even the smallest marcel of nearly irrelevant news; then write 1000 pre-stored phrases to link together randomly some garbage apple fans will read for mi g enough to be advertised to.
New update mixed use
New 3.0 update has gone so minimalist all the stories are just a single image with zero text making selection unworkable. Email to lead dev and 3.0.2 arrives with the actual tittle Text reappearing so usable again. Takes up more space than did before and still missing search box. But at least it’s usable again
I love the new UI!!!
Long time user and the UI change is an appreciated update!
Used to be good
I have been a loyal subscriber to 9 to 5 Mac app for years, but for he past 6+ months I have to go in and click Renew Subscription every time I open the app. I reported it to support months ago, but no response. What’s the point of the subscription then?
Very good for tech news.
The tille says it all.
Go back to using the website
Most of the images don't load. No matter how good my internet is. It completely ruins the experience and I now find myself using the website on my phone instead. Disappointing and quite embarrassing especially given the brand. 9to5crap
Having to switch “Dark Mode” off
I am having to switch of dark mode to be able to read articles.
Everything Apple
Great app if you are a true Apple fan and enjoy keeping up with all the latest Apple news. I love this app.....
Teaser
Does not give complete stories. Redirects to websites. Mostly pure click bait. More annoying than helpful.
Good app
It is a good app I've been waiting for it for a long time but there is no support for 3D Touch
Great to keep you updated but...
Overall the app is great but is painfully slow at times. One of the most annoying things I've noticed is when orientation lock isn't on and I turn my phone to landscape - be it by accident or not, and then back to portrait the app goes back to the home screen and won't allow me to click any of the articles. I need to close the app and open it again for the app to work. If you fixed these it would be a great alternative to having to visit the website which I'd rather do at this point to not have to deal with these bugs.
Notifications
Stopped working got top stories? UK version would be so good and worth the subscription
New design is terrible (fixed)
The new design forces you to open every article to read and decide if you want to read it all. Previously each menu picture would have its text title making it quicker and easier to decide if you wanted to read the article Apologies, the text is back, it must have been a short lived bug
Killed app from limit rate
You gotta be joking with this limited reading articles and after 3 I have to open in the browser. Literally barely open the app now. Just keep the ads in the app. Another thing opening the comments brings it up in safari. Like who thought this was an improvement. Was the app just abandoned?
Great App but....
I love the app and I love the Mac news. I would have given it 5 starts but the only problem was it's not loading fast enough even when you pull down to refresh, and when it does refresh stories are old. I compared it site vs app
Quite a Poor Effort
This app leaves much to be desired vs the mobile web experience. - refresh times are VERY slow - there's no visual indication of last refresh - it's not auto refreshing at launch - pull to refresh seems to only work some of the time and is inconsistent in its visual feedback
9to5Mac
Useful information and breaking news provider but SOLELY targeted at US customers relating to pricing, etc.
Brian Badonde is a legend
Great app
Get Apple Insider Instead
This was a good place to get news. Now it’s worthless. Get Apple Insider. It’s free and and has better information.
Pretty good
The way the app works is great, I haven't seen many bugs, but would appreciate it if you would add a favourites list, native comments section, and remove the adds, or instead give us an option to get an in-app purchase, to get rid of them.
Ads. Deleted
Good app spoiled by ads. Thanks to Safari's content blockers I don't get ads on the web version. Deleted.
Not bad
I’m a fan of 9to5Mac in general however I’m going to cancel my subscription before the trial ends as I’m always receiving the server error notice. Otherwise would have rated 5 starts. 👍
