What people like
- Helped couples pay off debt together

- Simple interface makes budgeting easy
What they complain about
- Bank connections keep dropping constantly
- Customer support never actually responds
- Transactions often appear with big delays
- App crashes or fails to open
One issue with the latest update
You used to be able to type in your amount and go up to the right corner and hit done. Now when you do that, you just canceled your transaction and you don’t realize it. So now you have to hit done in the middle and then go down to the bottom and hit save which used to be delete. It’s very dumb that that was changed. Other than that, I love the app. I’ve been using it for 8 years or so.
New update is terrible!
Nothing will load as I’m trying to enter an items on my budget sheet and if it does load, it doesn’t do my updates and it glitches
Great App, Too Many Rules
I have used this app for almost 7 years and it has been a powerful tool. It seems that in recent years, more and more rules have been implemented which make it harder to use. If I want to change the name of something this month, I don’t want it to change every month. I like this app a lot but am considering switching (which would be a huge effort) because I want to have more autonomy over my budget.
Zero customer support
I’ve experienced many of the issues in this review - duplicate transactions, banks disconnecting, transactions not being cleared when deleted or categorized. I was willing to keep trying but I have created multiple support tickets and literally no one gets back to you. I like the UI but I am in the process of transitioning to another app. Edit: after nearly 2 weeks, still no support despite multiple tickets. Completely unacceptable that the app barely works and customer support is nowhere to be found. Furthermore the app doesn’t support analysis past 2 years, so insights is useless in the long term. I am in the process of transferring the data to Monarch and will drop everydollar as soon as it’s done. What a waste of my time and money.
Works well until it doesn’t!
Im glad I downloaded the free version, its great, but it crashed after four weeks and I can’t login anymore. It has been three days so far, I found another expense tracker. Again, its great if it works! Again, it’s the best app, if it’s working! Maybe stick to the free version until you can trust it enough! Nevertheless, I’ve deleted and downloaded the app multiple times. I you must be online to login expenses.
Awesome! And needs a yearly budget feature!
I have been using this app for years and absolutely love it! I would love to see them add a yearly budget within this app where I can add line items like “Christmas” or “Kids Soccer”
Don’t misfile something
Don’t misfile any transactions. If you do, you can’t change it without deleting it.
The best budgeting app but Plaid needs to improve ALOT
I love this app. It has completely simplified my finances and taken so much tedious guesswork out of budgeting. HOWEVER, for the budget to be the most accurate you really need your accounts to be connected and automatically update through plaid. Plaid seems to be very delayed especially with Chase bank. Sometimes I have to wait more than 48 hrs for posted transactions to come through and that is very very frustrating and makes for lots of waiting to get the budget updated. This delay really needs to be fixed
The app badge is screwed uo 👎🏻
This app is mostly good. But the app badge is really screwed up. It shows that there are transactions to log when there are none or else the number is wrong. If there are any, after I log them, a couple minutes later the badge shows that there 3 new transactions, but there are always none. It does this consistently. If it shows a number of transactions to log at other times (not the 3 it shows right after I’ve logged all transactions), the number of actual transactions is always one fewer than what the badge indicates. The badge is almost always wrong now. Completely unreliable. Irritating. I pay a LOT of money for this service, so please fix.
Could be better
I REALLY wish the paycheck planning feature allowed you to select the dates AND the specific amounts that will be deducted on each of those days instead of assumed it’s equally divided. i.e. if I have $150 in monthly subscriptions and they come out on 4 different days, the app assumes $25 is coming out each day when that isn’t the case. So it’ll say you’re at risk of overspending when you’re not. It defeats the entire purpose of the feature if it’s not accurate. Now I have to do more mental math when that’s the apps job. Especially if I’m paying to use it.
Bring back raw transaction data
I find knowing the date the transaction originated to be more important than the date it cleared. The raw data indicates the transaction date and the date shown by EveryDollar can be off by days. With the raw transaction data, I am able to correct this.
Latest Update is Buggy
Can’t open the app with prompting an update after I updated.
Extremely helpful but…
The app is extremely helpful and I highly recommend it. Only negative is transactions from the weekend Don’t show up until Tuesday sometimes Wednesday. Find myself having to reconnect with my bank, which is the process.
Same problem again!
I love this app, and i would love it more if it would open. Reboot and reloading didn’t work, checked settings and software is compatible 15.6 or newer. Help Please!! It’s the 1st of the month!!
Bad update
As a user for 6+ years, changing the location of the save button and putting the exit button where save was is truly WRONG. Expenses that I thought were saved were now erased, this could cause someone to believe there was more money available to be spent. Do better with your horrific updates.
Great overall app!
My wife and I use this, game changer. We follow the Ramsey way it has helped us stay on track and also see the future of our finances.
Always something wrong
Now it’s unusable. Says to update but just goes back and forth between the App Store and the App. Honestly this app sucks. It takes forever for the purchases to populate. This is supposed to help us budget not cause a bunch of issues. Uninstalling and unsubscribing.
Focused on debt repayment
I’ve used ynab for over a decade and really love it because it is great at tracking transactions. One thing i wish every dollar had was the persistent notifications about categorizing like ynab because i rarely sit down and work on finances and ynab constantly reminds me. It’s good for my spouse and me but every dollar is appropriately focused on building good habits, excellent for the majority of Americans
Paid version not worth it
Continually drops bank connections and no refund offered after 30 days. If you download, don’t shell out the $80 to link banks.
Great concept, but app needs work
I’m very grateful for this app, and at the same time I have various qualms with its many quirks, which are numerous enough that on the daily I tend to ask myself if it would be easier to write myself an Excel sheet for this purpose. And I pay for premium. For example: the default view of this app should not be the “today” page. This is a learning summary page. It should be in the back of the deck where I can access it when I want to learn or view summaries. In fact, you should probably just get rid of it all together, since you have other tabs dedicated for those purposes. The most useful page on this app, to be used on the daily, is the budget section. A most common use case is for me to want to buy something… Not know how much I have left in my envelope for that thing… And eopening my app in order to get answers. That is what prevents overspending. Instant information sharing. Not Some page doggedly trying to get me to use the tutorial system. This brings me to my second criticism: why do the pages not seem to speak to each other consistently? If I’ve created dozens of budgets in this app, why am I still being asked to “get started on my first budget”? There does not seem to be any manual way to correct this misinformation. I simply must go through the tutorial in order to get rid of that call to action. so now, not only do I have an annoying default page that I have to scroll past in order to get to relevant information, but the information it’s giving me isn’t even valid. third, and this is a big one: assigning transactions to envelopes takes way too long. Here is the process: 1. Click transaction. 2. Visually find the small, nondescript section that allows you to assign it to an envelope. Click that. 3. Click the search bar. (Because nobody wants to visually scroll past dozens of fund titles, guys). 4. Search for the right envelope. click it. 5. Press done. to go back to the data page. 6. Press done AGAIN to fully assign the transaction. I understand that you created the fast track function to try to make this better. But let’s be real, it’s only correct about 30% of the time. And in a world where we can simply swipe left or right to find a love match, I simply must believe that there is a faster way to getting this tedious process done. Here’s a suggestion that won’t require a complete architectural rewrite: 1. Click on transaction. If we must default to the transaction data page, fine, but the search bar is on that page. Furthermore, the search bar is immediately in focus, allowing us to 2. Instantly start typing the name of the fund. Similar to Excel‘s filter function, funds that are caught by the search are instantly selected. 3. Big, noticeable, DONE button. Not some tiny white font up in the corner. That’s it. onto the next transaction. There is so much needless stuff shoved onto this transaction data page that could be moved to a second page. you need some of it to remember what the transaction was about. But…a “share transaction” button?? Big and bold, where the “DONE” button probably should be? while the “done” button gets shoved into the tiny upper-right corner? a check# section? even notes are unnecessary at this stage. You’re trying to be helpful, but at the cost of slowing down a daily, predictable, repeatable process that you’re also asking everybody to invest in as a habit. In other words, it’s bad design to code for the exceptions rather than the most common use case. there’s additional stuff… bank transactions still take way too long to show up, funds are clunky to work with, the app consistently signs me out… for reasons unknown to me… every couple of days I need to sign back in… Like I said. I’m grateful for it, but it needs work, and I’d love to see some of these essential, time-eating design flaws getting addressed, rather than a new dark mode.
Easy to use budget app
I am using EveryDollar app for two years now, and I’m very happy with the constant sofa upgrades to make it easier to budget.
Better on computer
The computer/online version is great. The mobile app sucks at syncing data across different devices. Many times i have had to re-reconcile various transactions because of a failure to sync correctly from the mobile app. Watch out for duplicate transactions!
Entering Budgeted Expenses
I’ve been using the app for a year now and I really like it but the thing that would make this much more efficient is the ability to just check off when a bill/budgeted expense is paid. Every time something is paid you need to hit the plus sign and type the amount in again even though you already did that at the start of the month. I understand sometimes the amount might change, but most times it doesn’t, so to have both options and the ability to just hit a toggle or a check mark and have it marked off would be quicker and more efficient.
No scheduling option 👎
The app does not allow to schedule repeated monthly expenses, they must be manually entered each month. For that reason alone I will not be using this app. Follower of Ramsey for 17 years, but this app falls short
Double entries
Like it, but using linked accounts and it keeps putting entries in 2-3 times over several weeks. Super annoying
Best budgeting app I ever used!
My husband and I got serious about budgeting about 10+ years ago. When we finally decided to hop on board the Ramsey plan, having an app to help with budgeting was VERY helpful. As we have gone thru different seasons- ie, moving, starting a family -it has been critical in us tracking our numbers as well as helping us keep in line with the baby steps. Highly recommend !!
Frustrated and Disappointed
Entered all my information in 3 different times. Every time I come back to the app all my data is gone. Who has time for that?!?! I assume it’s because I’m using the free version. Not much incentive to actually pay for it! So frustrated and disappointed.
It keeps getting worse
It used to be incredible and it’s still decent but the ads and “fixes” are becoming less user friendly. It’s also not been working on my phone for 3 days.
Reorder
I used to love the ease of this app when it comes to reordering my budget. After the up date, while I can still re-order my budget, I can’t see the balances/total. Therefore, I cannot reorder for my big ticket items to come first. I used to be able to move everything around while being able to see the balances/total.
Best budgeting app
EveryDollar has been absolutely wonderful- I’ve tried a number of different budgeting apps (including spreadsheets) and none of them were really what I needed. EveryDollar has helped my husband and I pay off debt, get on the same page, and start dreaming together. It’s been so so helpful!
Cost money
So I’m trying to pay off debt and learn to budget. Of course I listen to Dave Ramsey, he’s helped me tremendously and I thought I’d download his app as he talks about frequently. Well…it costs money. I’ve been unsubscribed to many subscriptions for a long time…to throw that money toward my two remaining loans. I’m not about to throw even a penny toward another subscription to help me budget to pay down debt quicker…that makes absolutely no sense. I’m disappointed to say the least. And no, I didn’t even attempt to use the app-I stopped right at the “yearly or monthly subscription fee”. I’m sure the app works, but my money toward my debt is more important than this app.
Long-time user
I want to be able to see the “summary” wheel for each month vs. only the month I am on. I like seeing the pie chart of wants vs needs vs investing vs debt and it bothers me that I can only see it on the current month. However, I do LOVE this app and use it all the time. Thank you Dave Ramsey group for creating it!
App Doesn’t Work
Got this app for my husband and I and it was working well at first. UNTIL we were looking for a transaction to come up that just didnt show up. We now have to comb through all our transactions and manually add the ones that EveryDollar misses. Defeats the purpose of making a budget if random transactions don’t appear at all in the app. We contacted support and they said sorry it’s been a month since you’ve paid the subscription - nothing we can do. We deleted and re-added our bank accounts, tried everything we could think of. Also we realized the app gets the totals of the categories wrong sometimes. We did the math ourselves and it added up incorrectly. Again - what’s the point of this app if it’s incorrect?? Would not recommend.
Great app - don’t like the update
Love the app. Not enjoying the most recent upgrade as the buttons for entering a transaction have changed. It used to “save” on the upper right hand corner. Now the “save” is at the bottom and the cancel is in the upper right corner. Small issue but I have canceled so many transactions with this new change. But overall, love the app!
Complete Garbage
Spent 15 minutes entering my budget only for it to tell me ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. Very helpful Every Dollar app. Scam artists.
Extremely helpful
This app is very well thought out and has helped me with my budget tremendously by being financially conscious. Even though there’s some small little details that I think would be nice to edit, all in all, this app is phenomenal. I highly recommend it to anyone that is interested in becoming more financially responsible with your money. Huge shout out to my professor for recommending it to me.
Told MasterCard Connect was an option
In the response to my first review with complaints about Plaid, I was told there was an option to use MasterCard Connect. I waited to try it until the end of the month, but one day into switching, it told me it wasn’t working and to connect with Plaid because I’d have a better connection. I sincerely hope y’all figure this out. I’ve been a member for almost a decade now, and I’m honestly considering switching to a different app/service.
