Not working for me
I just came to write a review and give the app 3 stars when I realized there is an update. Installed update and will try app again. But, up to this point it will not run a Full Test but says interrupted/failed. Hopefully the update will address this. Update did not address Full Test issue: Test interrupted. A network error occurred. Working now. After switching Automatic server location off and manually selecting a different location than Charleston, it now seems to work. Have it four stars for now.

Invasive, spying, unethical app
I’m in the process of migrating to a new phone and doing a cleanup/update of apps. When I opened up the nperf app, an apple pop-up appears straight away saying “nPerf wants to paste information in your clipboard - Allow/Don’t Allow”. I tapped “don’t allow” since I had a password in my clipboard. Luckily Apple started to prevent apps from automatically pasting the contents of users’ clipboards a few years ago, but before Apple made this change goodness knows what data nperf had gathered from all of its users’ clipboards. After reading other reviewers comments about nperf continuing to tracking users’ locations even after denying it access, I will not be continuing to use this app in the future, and will not download it again.

Inaccurate
I have been using nPerf for years; however, I will be deleting it as the video tests have been highly inaccurate lately. The videos load completely and don’t begin playing for several seconds so the app rates the streaming portion of the tests as poor, this has been consistent even though by data speed is nearly (or greater) than 1 GBPS and I have 4k quality streaming with my plan. Perhaps they are being paid by other carriers for higher results?
Not working.
I have been using NPERF testing for a long time and never had a problem. Since a change of internet provider, the test says zero download every time I use it. Can anybody help please. Obviously I know the internet speed is good because all my appliances work and other speed tests are informing me that I am getting in excess of 200 mbs upload and download. Thanks, Steve

This app looks convincing but when you register it takes your card details for “age verification”, promising zero charge. My bank instantly spotted it as fraudulent at the same time as I did - it had rerouted me to something like “cheeky dates.com” and I immediately deleted it. I’m now changing my bank card and details. DO NOT USE THIS APP!

Install to find out what the premium subscription is for??
I’m no stranger to nPerf and have several of my own servers running. It would be nice if this developer would spell out a few things, for example: What features are limited (if any) without a premium subscription purchase? Does the premium subscription purchase affect the tracking of performance data, collection, sharing, etc? In other words, does the subscription afford one the ability to perform tests with privacy? Is there a mechanism to use one’s own nPerf servers for testing, and if so, is THIS data tracked and recorded as well? In trying to find a testing app that provides data privacy for test results, there are just too many free apps (without ads even) and no IAP because of the lucrative market for the metrics. (I’m assuming this anyway) Some clarification in the description on the function of the premium subscription and how it relates to privacy would be especially appreciated. Thanks for making this app available; I hope to be able to use it.

Not working on iOS 17 versions
WiFi or Mobile. IPv4 or IPv6. Readings are now failing or unstable. Doesn’t seem to effect apps by other providers.
Pretty darn good
As a communications field engineer I like the convenience of using my phone for general testing. For more advanced purposes I would use my laptop of course. This app has a lot going for it and is on par with Ookla speed test results. Nice to see jitter data along with the u/d speed. I do like the ability to specify speed vs streaming and browsing tests. I would like to have an option to taylor the data package size for more lengthy testing Also a great addition to have in a future release would be the ability to view RSRP0 and RSRP1 dBm data when testing the cellular signal.

Tracks your location even when opt out and uninstalled
I didn’t get what I wanted out of this app so I uninstalled it. Now I find that even though this app is no longer on my iPhone, it is still tracking my location (iOS 16.1). I re-installed it to deny location services, but iOS still reports it as tracking my location. And it’s ALL the time. Not good, dev. Please exclude devices that have uninstalled your app from data collection.
Unclear
It is unclear what is the grey shading shown on the 3/4/5g coverage maps. The key shows a grey cell bar with a “X” over it. Grey shaded areas are shown in a few locations on the map. Does anyone know what this grey shading indicates? Please can you make the key/legend clearer so people know what this is. Thanks

The App/website map is not up to date
I decided to use this product so I could test at my various locations and add them to them map and see them. But the app hasn’t been updated with new info since 7/23, which at time of writing this review is 2mths.

Streaming modes a bit limited for 2019
Considering iPhones and iPads can stream and cast to FullHD and even 4K devices via AppleTV it would be useful if the app had these higher definition streaming measurements as well, even if the stream has to be reduced somehow for display on the device whilst running the test. Also I have noted that the browsing tests seem to be affected by certain ad-blockers so a way to either bypass these or detect them and suggest they be disabled whilst testing would also help in getting more consistent tests. Otherwise this app has proved very useful in determining if a network is capable of allowing me to watch Netflix or other sites when away from home in places like hotels or holiday resorts.
Used to be a great app
Now the wiki page which used to take less than a millisecond to load on most robust networks hesitates. Same with Facebook and other browser test. I try to replicate on iPhone, pc or other and the pages come right up. Please fix! Paid Tool gave me a ballpark of the user’s experience and now it’s useless. - Hopitality User Experience Engineer.
Crippled on iOS version
I have this app on my Android phones and tablets, it’s brilliant, one of my favourite apps on Android. I don’t care for the speed tests, on Android I use it for “active mapping”, for plotting cell signal strength around my town and when on road trips around Kenya. I bought a new Apple iPad mini last week and excitedly installed this app….only to be disappointed that it does not have the “active mapping” feature. Please bring active mapping to iOS. I want to help you plot your maps…which you can sell to cellular companies.

Excellent at both WIFI & CELLULAR network checks. Only 1 thing... Carrying a Xs and it doesn’t check the 720p streaming line.... only checks WIFI with 720.... minuses that 1 star😬
Not a Coverage App. Just Quality Checker
Very thorough quality checker, if you don't mind burning through a lot of data for a bunch of dudes that aren't paying you for it. As for their coverage maps, they can only tell you about coverage where someone has used their app. If someone didn't have their app on their phone, then it's shows no coverage. That's far from an accurate representation of actual coverage.
