Speed Test SpeedSmart Internet reviews
4.7 out of 5, based on 177,037 reviews.
What people like
- Helps you fix weak WiFi signal spots.
- History feature proves your ISP is lying.
- Results are clear, simple, and reliable.
- Works perfectly ad-free if you pay a small fee.
What they complain about
- Scareware popups claim your phone is hacked.
- Ads interrupt you constantly and are hard to close.
- Too many trackers require tedious manual opt-out.
- Tests often crash or show zero speeds now.
Always reliable and informative!
SpeedSmart is my go to speed connectivity app! The app works flawlessly, ad free, every single time I need it. The history list is super convenient and the map feature unintentionally gives me a list of alternate providers 😜
Add megabyte per second testing then I make this 5 stars
Bye
First thoughts
This is the second app I’ve tried for checking down and upload speeds. Both return similar results. This App displays them better and calculates average values. I’m still relatively new to this App, with other things to discover.
Spyware
They have a thousand trackers in this app they want you to consent to sending all your data to. You cannot easily opt out unless you spend 15 to 20 minutes manually unchecking them all. Avoid this like the plague. Google can now easily do speed tests - no app is needed in 2026
Was good, now ads have taken over
I paid for the app and lately now to see my results, am getting ads that sometimes will not go away.
Great WiFi Utility
Useful and easy to use
Stopped working
This has always been a reliable app but for the past week it is no longer measuring up- and download speeds, only ping. Speeds are always zero. What gives?
Testing 1 2 3
A useful tool to check the speed claims of your internet service provider. The adverts are a small inconvenience.
Works great except for the porn ads
The app does exactly what its supposed to do. But everytime i use it, I get a line of porn ads at the bottom of the screen. Once I dragged a finger across them and opened a porn site with people in action. If this garbage doesnt stop, this good app will be gone from my phone.
VPN
There is a difference in speed where the user has a VPN App installed or not. Speeds are faster if you disable your VPN than if your VPN is running.
👍👍👍👍👍
👍👍👍👍👍
Really? Porn ads! Gross
Works great. But the porn ads are a bit much!
Top 10!
Vraiment wow!!
Won’t show results history
Great idea but no good if I can’t view the results history.
Speedsmart tester
I’ve been using this app for several years and have recommended it to friends & colleagues. However, and this is for the developers, I think the app might have been hacked. 1. Several weeks ago I started getting alerts every time I used the app that my iPhone storage was nearly full and that my phone would work more slowly. It told me I should run a cleaner that it was linking to. This is not the case and I didn’t run the link, 2. Today when using the app (03/05/26), I’ve had a warning though the app that I’d been visiting adult websites and I should click on a link to visit the Apple Store and install an iPhone cleaner as my phone was compromised. This is nonsense as I’ve never visited such sites and I didn’t run the link. My phone is an iPhone 17 running IOS 26.4.2 and all apps are up to date with the latest security patches. To be perfectly safe, I’ve reluctantly deleted the Speedsmart app and installed a different one from another supplier. If the developers can sort out the problem within Speedsmart I’ll gladly come back.
Speed test
This speed site is great! It lets me know when I have a problem.
Appears to be a virus
I used this app once and it told me my iPhone had 72 viruses. Of course I do not and I did not allow it to “fix my phone”.
Does what you need it to do!
Really simple and reliable app. Gives clear results and has great way of storing and displaying results (new and history). Only negative was ads. But for 79p you can get rid of them! Worth it!
Invasive Advertising
The speed test element of the app is simple to use and fast. As soon as the test is complete you are then made the victim of a full screen advert that drags on appears to lock you out of being able to use the app again and even your phone until the advert ends. Highly irritating!
Speedtest
Wire fi not so good
SpeedSmart
This works great for checking wifi in my condo. Was able to change router location to get reliable wifi throughout my place. Highly recommend.
WiFi speed is awful and not what I’m paying for.
Terrible speed
Excellent
Good tests and clear results.
Too difficult to reject cookies
In the Eu so I gave up on the consent form and deleted the app
Speed test
My speed is seldom above 30 mbps while I am contracted to receive 100 and is very erratic. Test results today are: at 1729 / down 17.7 / up 19.9 12.03/ 59 / 48 11.54 / 11.4 / 13.9 11.53 / 14.2 / 21.5 10.01 / 45.6 / 45.4
Easy, fast and free
Use it, no complaints
Rubbish!
Upgraded and the speeds are worse than ever! Rubbish
Pretty good
It’s a free app, but it does what it says. I stream tv and if ever the picture gets pixelated for more than a few times. I just run this app and see what is going on. I have 1 gig internet so if it’s saying much less of 1 gig, I usually just have to reboot the modem and router.
Brilliant App
Fast intuitive reliable speed test. Love it.
App not working
As been good for a long time but this app is not working for the last 2 week
Great speed tester
I have had this app for years and love it.
Getting pop-ups
Why is there pop-ups I can’t get out of?
Easy first go to for speed checking.
Great app, we use it to keep tabs on BT, whom have control of our internet, slow speeds of are the norm for us. So it’s good to check. UK. User. Also used the app in Egypt and Portugal and it works fine. AC & JC
Was great
App worked really well for a few months. Now tests are way off. Tried uninstalling and downloading again but it didn’t work.
What we call an app to test another app In a way
Why does it feel like this is supposed to be a game like a game to play
Speed test
Love this app. Helps tremendously when trying to sort out issue with things connected to the internet
Makes you watch ads
Makes you watch ads. I deleted this app❗️
Speed test
Awesome
Crashes
The “improved” version does not complete a cycle test. It crashes repeatedly.
Quick
It’s a fast result but the ping result is too fast and doesn’t record at the end
Buena
Buena
Fraudulent extortion advertisement practices
Pop ups try to extort users by using a pop up stating “account locked due to visiting adult porn sites “ then redirects them to the app store in an attempt extort unwitting people to buy a cleaning app ! Bad business practice !
Good test app
Use a lot at work for testing areas of WiFi. Works well only dropping a star because some of the ads that pop up are pretty scamming
Annoying notifications
There’s an annoying notification asking to perform a test everyday and we cannot get rid of it. Really annoying.
Stopped working
Used to work really well. Just migrated to the NBN. Hasn’t worked since.
Must have app
Great app + history from past tests great - never a problem —- highly recommend
App feeds malware ads
This app has delivered ads for what is at best scareware (or malware) claiming nonexistent device hacking.
Easy to use
Also gives a history of results that you can use to fight your broadband providers perspective of what they think they are providing
Makes me wonder who pays for this
When things are really bad the tests do not work or do not register Oddly this app works great when service is good
Servers
It doesn’t have a server for Perth, Western Australia closest is Adelaide this isn’t a exact reading
