Great app, great service!
Does it all, names, sorts, and gives updates on care.
Crashes all the time
Used to use this, great concept. However now the app just crashes all the time, updated and the same thing happens…
Really helpful!
Love this app - experts give timely response to queries and the “to do” list for plant care is really handy and helps me keep on top of what to do and when to do it. Also helps me to learn about the conditions my plants will thrive in which is super helpful for someone who is new to gardening as I am!
Abandoned?
This app was looking so promising: had everything I was looking for in terms of care advice and reminders. But this morning the navigation bar disappeared so I can’t access anything except adding a plant or my profile settings. It also didn’t recognise/load my attempt to add a monthly subscription (App Store says the purchase / free trial is active). I tried emailing all *three* different addresses provided for support, and all of them returned a delivery failure message. I’m writing this review in the hopes a dev will see it and fix the problems because this was looking like such a great little app!!
Good app but needs improvements
It’s a good app and brilliant if it did what it says it did Brought some new plants from the garden centre the other month and tried scanning the code on the plant Try to scan the smart plant Qr code and it crashes the app And trying to find the plant that yours looks like or the actual spelling on the plant tag in the app and there no pictures or the correct spelling I’m looking for The plant it seems to find is my Venus fly trap Please give this app a big bug fix and improvements
Great app for a newbie
Love this app. It’s really helped me keep up with looking after my plants in my newly refurbished garden. Never been much of a gardener, but since lockdown started appreciating my garden more and needed cheering up. Every time I buy a new plant I add it to ‘my plants’ and I get care info to keep each plant cared for step by step, let’s me know when to repot, feed, prune etc by notification. Just the job for me.
Crashes!
This app worked great for me for around a year. Now I can’t do anything on it. The app opens but any option I click on just crashes the app immediately. It’s frustrating as I had all of the my plants listed in there but can’t even access the info now to make a note of it elsewhere before deleting the app. Really pleased I spent money on it for a year and took time logging all my plants, not!
So Far So Good.
I’ve had this a couple of weeks now and paid for the top subscription. I’ve got loads of plants inside and outside and so far the specialists have been responding quickly and effectively. What I’d really love is extra plant specific little tips in aid of being told the next step for the plants in ‘My Care’ ie: How to trim, what Mulch to use, What Sunlight does it need to be rotated to, more plant specific timescales of watering and feeding ect, ect.
Contact crashing
I’ve loved having Smartplant and have paid the subscription for at least a year . Now, every time I try and use it it crashes and I am left looking at my iPhone menu page . I can’t even access the plants already identified. I have deleted and reinstalled app . No luck . I’ve cancelled my subscription.
Used to work but now crashes
Crashes after selecting a photo.
Great!
First day with the app and loving it so far! Bit nervous about keeping all my lovely new plants healthy so it’s nice to have reminders set when you need to water and the helpful tips are great!
Scam
Downloaded the app and used up my 2 credits so I have decided to go premium as I liked the idea of how the app works (not great by any means but ok for one) and thought it was genuine as the app was recommended on the plant I have purchased in a well known shop. What a mistake! I have paid for premium (money has gone out of my account) but the app did not do anything and still just told me go premium! So I decided to email 3 of their email addresses but they all had a bounce back. Massive scam!
Really useful tool
I’ve really enjoyed uploading my plants and getting the missing ones identified. The app doesn’t always do what it promises though with reading passports/barcodes.
Terrible
Your app is terrible. I can’t even use the search bar. No keyboard appears.
Excellent concept
The concept of the app is brilliant and when I first downloaded it I was using it nonstop. But after buying the subscription for a couple of months I found it less and less helpful. For example, I found some sort of fungi growing on my balcony and they told me they don’t know anything about fungi and that I’d need to go to a specialist. Normally that would’ve been fine but I wasn’t paying monthly to have that lacklustre answer - in short, I’d suggest to use the app but don’t pay for the features as it’s not worth it. Or use an app similar that’s free or cheaper. Another factor was I was told I’d pay 99p in the first month and then 3.99 in the following. Instead, they were charging me 4.99 the whole time and that was not made clear. The app itself is slow, glitchy and often crashes. Again I believe the app is an amazing idea but it needs to be worth the money they charge. I feel sorry for the people who signed up to the MUCH more expensive subscriptions.
Smart plant
Been great so far.
didn’t work :(
i don’t know if this is an error with my phone but the app didn’t work for me, i signed in and i clicked to scan my plant and it just would not let me. I’ve deleted the app, refreshed my phone and still nothing 🤷♀️
really nice
i live the idea of having actual human plant experts look at your plants instead of a AI that can be more easily mistaken. had to cut off one star tho because the app seems to run pretty slow, it takes ages to load plant photos and info. make it faster! then it'll deserve even a 6th star ♥️🌿
Crashing?
When ever I try to load the “care” tab, my app crashes 😞
Really good up until latest update
I was a keen user of the app as great for organising plants and getting care advise....until the recent update of being able to organise by area. A bug I think but my care items went from only being able to scroll to a point before kicking me out of the app completely to now not being able to access the care tab at all. It tries to load and kicks me out. I have tried to contact support numerous times with no success. I have tried three times via the app, three emails sent and I tried on the web form and had nothing back. I pay the pro rate so will be cancelling if I don’t hear anything soon, a shame as my gardening interest has increased massively since adopting this app as an amateur gardener.
Nice an easy to add on plants.
Nice an easy to add on plants.
Useless
It doesn’t find the plan when u scan the barcode and even when you search the name still can’t find the right plant also doesn’t tell you how to look after it
Not fully functioning
Looked good initially but the bar code scanner isn’t working and frequently finding known varieties are not in the database
Ok app
So far I’ve had mixed experiences. I had pretty accurate plant identification although not 100% more like 90%. One time I got a pest reply in 2 hours which was brill but I’m still waiting on my most recent question about soil pests 2 days ago. The identification there isn’t as quick as it claims to be. Also I’m having some technical issues with my credits as it says I have credits but then says I don’t when I try to use them. If this app was free I’d give it a higher rating because it has some food elements but the parts that you pay for are actually worse than the free services.
Handy app to identify plants
Having moved to a new house with a massive garden and not much gardening expertise this app has really helped me to identify the plants in my garden. Would have struggled without it
Took my money but never upgraded me
I upgraded my account to premium, paid for a year but they never upgraded my account. I thought it might take a few days to update…. Still nothing. I tried to contact them via their support emails provided, the emails bounced back. Unfortunately a waste of money.
Review
I use the app quite a lot, but it seems slower than it used to be when it was simpler. There is a lot of buffering, as if it needs more ‘oomph’. The responses are quicker though, which is a big improvement. I’m not sure the responses are from a real person, but sometimes it’s nice to see a name. On the whole, your suggestions, checked against RHS information, are pretty accurate. I think my star rating at the moment would actually be 3.5stars.
Great app
I have been using this app for about a month and I am very pleased with its accuracy and great response time. I will be putting it to more difficult tests as I get my plants identified and labelled
Not worth downloading
Once I downloaded the app and created an account, I tried using the barcode scanner to add my plants that I had bought, however they never showed up as being added into the app, after then trying on a different device it still didn’t work. It was also not something I would have thought to have to purchase a subscription for just to add the plants on. I personally wouldn’t bother with this app if you are looking for an app to help keep on top of your plants.
Planters Guide
I love the format of this app. However, I am having trouble adding or finding out how to add the location of my plants. And when I scan the barcodes to add a plant to my own garden, a screen flashes up saying ‘finding plants’ but it never does and I end up having to so it manually. That is a little tiresome. Everything else is as it should be and has been helpful to me.
Grow your own
Excellent app, a must for all green fingers and newbies
Not working
Scan a code and the app crashes
List subscriptiom
Really like ld it but it appears to have lost my subscription.....
Fantastic App! 😍
I am finding this app so useful! I’m identifying plants by using the “ask the expert” feature, and they respond so quickly. The experts are all so pleasant! I’ve uploaded my plants from my garden into the app and it formulates a to do list for me - I love the app and am so glad I came across it!
Useless App
Purchased some indoor plants for the first time from Homebase. So downloaded the app as all of them had the smartplant label. The app doesn’t recognise the plants using the barcode as it should, not does it recognise the plants from their botanical names, so completely useless as a means to monitor their care. What’s the point of an app that wants to charge you to do something it actually doesn’t do at all, not even badly. Good job I didn’t subscribe first. Don’t waste your time with this one.
Excellent
The interaction with an expert that helps you identify is great
Crashes
Was excited to use but scanning qr codes crashes ! Please fix or I’m deleting this app.
