Even though I paid $19.99 for a year of premium, the “change key” feature doesn’t work which was the whole reason why I got the app Update: customer support helped me figure out how to change the key and it works great so I upped my review from 1 to 4 stars. I would do 5 except the UI is confusing and the UX is kind of bad because of that.

Indispensable tool for teaching
I use Capo on both Mac and iPad to take apart songs and guitar breaks for students and band mates alike. It lets me get recordings in tune for headache-free practice sessions.
Great idea horrible execution
Waste of the subscription price. Ive been paying for years, got a new ipad and it won't restore the purchase. Still works on my mac
Update: Give it a good look. A few issues.
I lost my overlong, detailed assessment here just before publishing it & won’t try to recreate it in exasperation, will instead just say: A slowdown app with region loops & more. Give this app some attention. It is well-designed, has some nice features. There is a lot here whether you are learning songs entirely by ear, aided by guitar tab, in std tuning or in some of the most frequently altered tunings, or are left-handed. Can also apply to more instruments than guitar. The problem is it seems to tied to iTunes purchases & sometimes rejects even those if they were bought in the days of FULL fidelity.
Not with monthly.
It is a tragedy how app makers have got into the way of thinking that they can make novelty app and then acquire a huge subscribership. One time purchase with upgrade options for later purchase is still a viable revenue stream for Capo. For instance if one million people payed a one time purchase of $50 that would be 50 million. But 100people times 29$ a month is 2900 monthly a perfect amount for a california lease payment. There are far more people willing to pay $50 one time over the very few people who will want an exorbitant monthly charge. This is not a critical app to pay the amounts they are asking unless your use of the app to help you keep your job. But alas it’s a novelty luxury app for a niche of guitar players that want to play music that is sometimes not accessible by the ultimate guitar app and it’s vast tablature data base. The extra feature of the app exluded from non paying users is not worth the hundreds and thousands a year. Capo is a little full of themselves and they won’t get the money they could have as long as they see themselves as valuable as photoshop is to photo editors. Ps ive used this app for years since 2018 and I love it. But capo also wouldn’t recognize my purchase and wouldn’t let me stay grandfathered in so basic features I used for years got turned off when my phone was updated and apple forced the download of their newest version. Don’t look for too many new innovations cause the lack of subscribership won’t be paying for it. My phone shows an original purchase date Dec 2 2018 and Capo will not honor my early adoption and I am cut off from even the most basic features. I am baffled. My energy in this post could have been raving in favor, but regrettably I will say it’s sad that they won’t follow their own policy of grandfathering in original users.

I take a lot of my demos into this app to set the correct tempo. It’s a great tool, and it’s amazing how the voice does not distort. Highly recommended

Good app, but lacks a few features
It’s a great app for practicing. One can easily create loops and slow tempo. I wish they also had an option to remove vocals like many new apps do. And I wish it wasn’t a subscription app. I purchased it a long time ago but have no intent of using the new features if I need to subscribe. Yet I would be happy to buy an updated version.
Very disappointed
It can’t even get the cords right . It need a lot of work . And you need to add note Recognition and where it’s able to pick out every single instrument and be able to edit them . Being a musician I can distinguish every thing that is going on and what instruments is playing what . It don’t even include bass . If this is the best that can be done .. there is no use for AI .
Not authorizing
I purchased the app years ago. It’s good. Couldn’t detect chords well for some of my jazz compositions that brought me to Berklee. I liked it for practicing and quickly getting pop chords. I just revived my iPad. The App Store showed it ready for download. I had not used the app in a few years, but saw it in my purchases. But now is asking me to get a subscription, it won’t re-authorize my purchase. Got it from App Store Thank you for your help
Essential practice tool
Sound quality is vastly superior when slowing down music compared with other options and easy to use.
Doesn’t work as advertised
I got this app to learn popular songs, but it only works with audio files on your device, not syncable with streaming services. Disappointed, but at least I didn’t pay to find that out.
Fantastic learning tool
This is one of the best and most useful apps for learning songs I’ve ever used. Only problem, which I hope gets fixed soon, is it keeps hanging up or freezing so I can’t get out of the current song. I then have to shut down my iPad and relaunch it to move forward within the app. Otherwise, it would have a 5 star rating.
Doesn’t work
Even when i buy tracks from iTunes the app doesn’t let me to load the track. When i go to show in music , my downloaded music are there on my ipad.

Wonderful helpful app
When I’m trying to learn something by ear I need to slow down the music while keeping audio quality … capo is great. YouTube has limited ability in this and the audio quality degrades. Also Capo transposes, and offers chords. I can’t count on the chords 100% but they get me on the right track… my ear is my weakest link and it keeps improving. Capo helps tremendously.

Useful App but missing one vital feature!
I’ve just downloaded this as my go to tuner app is no longer available on apple. It is really helpful and very accurate but what it needs is a feature where you can see all notes played in real time. Basically a scrolling screen of notes being played not just chords. Would be more help in working out the melody lines and solo work on instruments. All in all a good app to get you started in working out song structures etc

Can’t stand subscriptions
I am pretty sure I paid for this at some point, I have the desktop version as well. I certainly don't mind paying for upgrades when new features are released. But removing functionality and putting it behind a subscription model is one way for sure to lose me as a customer. I am thinking that is what has happened here. I went to see if I could rescan a song I did a long time ago (it did a poor job the first time around) and it warned me that I would lose the saved changes unless I subscribed… OK, time to look for something else that can do this trick. I only use it very rarely to try to figure out chord progressions on my own songs that I recorded long ago and forgot to document, so I can always just do a little more work and NOT pay a crazy subscription. Oh well.
Great app for transcription but no Spotify support.
Great features and tools for transcription. One major issue is that it’s not integrated with Spotify or Tidal. The reason given for that is not clear either. They should just offer it as an in-app purchase at least.Amazing Slow Downer is integrated with Spotify. This is frustrating because I have to pay for a track first on iTunes Store in order to use Capo.

This app is great but all my music is on Spotify and the app will not work with anything but music from iTunes. This makes it useless to me

Such a valuable tool!!
I grew up dropping the needle over and over to learn guitar parts and solos. It was painstaking and difficult but that was the way we did it. Today, Capo makes the process of learning parts seamless and so easy — input the source material, take control of tempo, key, etc and set up regions for looping, all of which takes seconds to do. Amazing. Also a great tool for developing original music.
you can't access your itunes library
I have used Amazing Slower Downer and saw this come up thinking I could access any of the songs in my itunes..... wrong! unless I am wrong someone please correct me.
This App Grows with You
If all you want to do is slow down a tune you are trying to learn and find the key and chords, this app will do it easily. But the more you know about music, the more uses you will discover, as you explore its sophistication. Capo Pro is a real bargain. If I were tasked with improving this app, I would start with a more organized and detailed user guide to match its innovative structure and potential.
Excellent- but not irreplaceable
This app truly changed my life as a non-professional musician. I’ve enjoyed its features and its improvements and have been a staunch advocate for years.. But to charge a yearly subscription of almost £10 makes no sense. There are many free or inexpensive alternatives out there. Get used to the different UX and live happily ever after. Big head, wrong pricing. Farewell Capo.

Program works great. Calling a required subscription after the trial period is over isn’t an in-app purchase that adds value to a free program.

Love the concept but it's a poorly executed app. Definitely expected more from something with this price tag
Good, but needs work
I like most of what this program offers, but, the chord predictions provided by the iOS version do not agree with the chords predicted by the MacOS version, with the latter being more accurate. Given that I purchased this app years ago, it is particularly frustrating now to need to subscribe to the MacOS version of the app to find the right chords. Also, the functionality of the iOS version is less than that of the MacOS version, which likely explains the difference in subscription fee.

Using it for singing practice
I’m an capo user ever since the original version which is no longer supported. I don’t use the chord analysis function, but mostly loop functions with a lot if region in every for my singing practice. One thing that was in the old version that I miss is the ability to press at the beginning of a region and then a second time at the end rather than having to move the border around. If you could find a way to implement it back that would be awesome.
Useless....
This app is very poor. There are a lot of nice features as it details in the description. But the simple fact of the matter is, it's an app that is supposed to detect the chords of your selected song. Put simply.... it very rarely does. I have used ultimate guitar tabs app and it's absolutely spot on. And then I compared the same songs on this app and it's so far off the mark its untrue. Guitar tabs is not a chord detection app. It actually gives you the chords or tab for your chosen song. Way way more accurate and nowhere near as expensive. Stay well clear of this one.
Becoming my go-to transcription app
So first up I have to fess up that I don’t actually play guitar just now! (I am a keys guy). However, there are so many good things about Capo - an attractive UI (so much nicer than Anytune), good edit ability, simple straight forward integration with iOS, great timeline features and fairly accurate chord detection (not that this is the point of the app IMO, so it’s a bonus!) It scores higher than at least two other similar apps I have used as far as transcribing music goes. Unbelievably Capo is unique among similar apps by being the only one I have tested that actually has editable beat and measure markers - a fundamental thing for any transcription resource! Is it perfect? Well, no similar app is. It would be nice though for the looping features to be a bit more advanced in terms of repeats for example and my ultimate request would be an easily visible overview of the sections I have set up within a tune - would be awesome. But for what it does, Capo fairly rocks. It has crashed on me but the support team have been awesome, grateful for the crash logs - clearly wanting to make the app even better. Keep it rocking Capo, especially for non-guitar bods like me! 😀

Best tool for learning I have ever used.
Tone deaf
Capo is supposed to be able to detect chords to songs and when I read that I thought it would be the right chords but I was thinking like a fool. The slow down feature is the only usable feature of this app. Update: after the recent update Capo did recognize the the first chord of AC/DC Highway to Hell but after that it totally failed. Good thing they named it Capo instead of Capable.
Had a problem initially, but it was my issue
I didn’t understand the need to create a “project” and tried to go directly for my music. Since a project can only be in a few places and although you can see your music, you can’t select it until you have started your project. You also have to be sure to start your project in an allowed location. You can start it in Dropbox, for example, but it will fail on the import function for the song. With some helpful guidance from the Capo support, I got going. I’ll have to read the documentation carefully (i.e. better). In my first project, it seemed to analyze the song pretty well. The second project song was not analyzed in some long sections, but then again, it was Pink Floyd. I’ll try this out (with the 60 second limitation) for a bit, but it’s likely to be a purchase and keeper for me.
Still poor implementation!
The whole concept is great but the app is very frustrating. The abilities to loop in sync with beats, slow down and transpose are brilliant for learning a tune. But by now the app is not well implemented at all. First of all it's not responsive. When swiping through the waveform, it doesn't respond 5 times out of 10. Other buttons are likely to stick as well. By the way it's the same on both my iPhone 5s and iPad 4. As for the chord detection, well it works. But it's really not meant to be accurate so I don't care.
When it ain't bust, don't try to fix it!
All the very useful song graphics / album covers have gone, and I'm left with just the Capo logo, and a displaced title. What's that all about?
