Outstanding safety
How is this app still so rubbish?
I’m trying to plan a journey for five days from now, using well established bus and train routes and nope… nothing populates. Whoever is building this app needs to engage a proper user experience designer to do some user testing and fix this. It’s 2026, people. Get with the times. It is (again) an easy delete for me. I’ll use Google maps instead to figure my travel out…

The app is good and helpful but when I put my email in to make an account it said “Email already in use” I’ve never made an account with that email.

the live data function doesn’t work half the time. i often have to restart the app several times. it has been like this for a while and i thought an update would fix it but no
Time shown is deceiving
The timing shown for buses is horrible. From the schedule one of the bus will get cancelled and the live time for the cancelled bus will show “in 4mins” for the next 15 mins until the next scheduled bus arrives.

It is a bit complicated but gives a lot more features than the website
Useless use Google maps
Absolutely useless. I am visiting from overseas and got this to help me get about. Does not know business names or motel names. Google maps does and gives all the public transport options.

Inconvenient
The timetable in this app often differs from the actual bus arrival times. This happens quite frequently, so I would like you to fix it immediately. Also, the fact that the arrival times and routes change on weekends is very inconvenient.
Slowly getting back to it
This is an update to my original review from early 2025. The app still isn’t quite there yet but at least the T&Cs on-boarding issue has been fixed and I can now also use FaceID.
Great App
This Transperth app is great to use because it gives you real time bus and train traking and when it arrives as well as planing journeys to a place. This has been the number one app to use when catching public transport. So this app gets a 5⭐️ review.
Good until it isn’t
Great app when things are running to plan. Several times though I’ve been caught out by a stop or service not in use - yet the journey planner still tells you to effing use it!
Great but buggy
Well designed, easy to use and very handy but frequently freezes so Google maps is actually more reliable. Needs update and bug fixes to become indispensable

the strongest gripe i have with the app is that sometimes when journeyplanning, routes just dont appear at all although the website displays possible routes
App freezes
The app freezes after I enter a new card number and tap Add. I see the form with the data I need to fill but the UI is completely unresponsive. So I can’t add the card and configure auto load. Please fix.

Awesome app!
I'm spending some time abroad in Perth, and this app has been really helpful for getting around the city! I haven't experienced any of the problems that the last reviewer had, and it does remember even if I close the app. My only suggestion would be to make it show your current location on the map, like Google Maps does. Do that, and it'll be 5 stars!
Map display freezes

This app provided my needs to get from A to B. Wish it’s functionality was better and probably won’t take much to get there. One gripe though is that the journey planner would tell me to walk 18 mins to my destination (when it’s storming), because the next linking bus for my journey is not within a few mins of the train arrival, however if I wait 9 mins I can catch a green cat to my destination and be bone dry. Google maps fills the gap. This is annoying.
Impressive
During three weeks recently spent in Perth this app was invaluable for organising travel from A to B. The map provides walking routes to your first connection. The approximate times given for services were so accurate that I’d rely on those to get off a bus in the suburbs where I didn’t know the surroundings and it never let me down. Having come from the UK where you catch a train or bus running on time once in a blue moon this seemed like utopia. Keep up the amazing work Perth.
Unable to put money on card
Put my credit card into autopay but it doesn’t put anything on my smartrider card and doesn’t show any message why not

App was fine, I don’t update apps until I know it’s safe because they often have errors, now Transperth app forces update and breaks live times via qr codes.

No stars
No stars for our present day bus drivers. They never stick to the bus timings/ schedule, have less courtesy and compassion is outdated if not non-existent!!!!. Why bother about Apps live or dead(non functional) . It takes drivers to run the buses on time and keep to that schedule… and not apps suggesting where they are. Get with it or change the drivers to those who respect a proper work ethic and have responsibility to get the public to where they need to be. WAIT for IT!!!!…. None to beat bus drivers who say “ too much traffic “ when queried why the bus is 10 to 15 minutes late😂😎👏. Well, that’s what’s called ‘ a lame excuse’ to save your 🙈❤️
No other options
The app is antiquated and has not kept up with the times and technology - you should be able to do so much more and self serve. But there are no other options, so hopefully it is improved over time.
Can’t link my order card
Tired of this. Tried to add my smart rider a lot of time and the error keeps coming as incorrect DOB, on our records DOB do not match. Can’t Direct debit or auto load
Disappointed
While the app works well with basic information, there is much about it that is to be desired: – when I tried to edit my profile, the app would not save any of the changes. Very poor! – The auto load payment, was not added, to my credit Total on the app. – I come from London where we have the oyster card: why not borrow some of the features of this card which actually work well?
Broken
Every time I try to use a function that calls back to the server I get a handy error message that says “unknown error”. When I reached out to support they said that it happens on some phones and they don’t know why.
Mostly unresponsive
As a solo traveller I require these sorts of apps to help me get around. This app is unresponsive about 80% of the time and in that other 20% it is slow. The only reason I gave it 2 stars is because when it actually works it is a great help. The use of it is spot on but too many issues make this app almost impractical.
Rubbish
I can’t progress past installing it. App has sat at installation for days, have uninstalled fully twice and still can’t progress the installation.
It would be great if only you could add credit
