Excellent Walking app
I really enjoy this and it gets me walking to find out what happens next in the story. I would like the option to play the audio clips automatically but this is a minor point. I especially like the throwback touches to Zombies Run - curly wurlys , a sports bra and of course familiar voice actors (Sam Yao 😃).
Poor effort.
Doesn’t have any Apple Watch support so have to physically hold the phone in hand whilst walking. Having to look at the screen every few mins to click the next story is lame. Useless app
Great app but...
This is actually a great app - really engaging ... but please make the audio play automatically as you reach the next story points .... that’s my only criticism
Can’t purchase - just an expensive subscription model
So initially a great app. I liked the cheesy storyline of being an unwitting spy, carrying a parcel for 500 miles & it was just something different to listening to music & podcasts Also impressed it had been built in conjunction and sponsored by the NHS In the App Store it also says you can buy the app for £4.49….. Once you’ve done the first 4 missions - which I did over the course of 2 weeks on and off - it asks you to pay for it. No problem, happy to pay, errr where’s the purchase button. Nope, their minimum subscription is now £5.99 a month. However their support site & website still talks about purchasing it but nope supposedly changed the model in Dec 2019 I don’t want to join a running club to be chased by Zombies & I want to do the app in my own time. Not have to pay £33 for a 12 month subscription (which I guesstimated it would take me at least) instead of a £4.49 one off purchase So guess I’ll go back to listening to millions of songs & podcasts instead and then listen to the Proclaimers once my phone tells me I’ve walked those 500 miles TL;DR Great potential - shady pricing model for 5+ year app.
Good Game just 1 suggestion
I really like this app and I’ve been using Zombies run for about 5 years now as well, but I wish in The Walk I could play music from a different app as well and when i hit a checkpoint in game, it would stop my music so I can listen to the checkpoint audio without having to manually touch an episode. This way I could listen to music while on my walk as well. Overall good app.
Amazing motivational app
Brilliant app! Excellently voiced, I really loved all the characters. When is the sequel out? 😬 I’ve walked over 50 hours thanks to this app and dropped two dress sizes. I work in nutrition and will be recommending this to clients 👌
Frustrating pricing option
I really enjoyed the first few free chapters. I was happy to purchase further until I realised this was subscription only. Not interested in the complete bundle with the Zombie options. Just want the walk. Disappointing as not worth it as a subscription.
Great fun!
Really good motivation to get out and moving - really really wish it had an auto-play option that unlocked and played the clips as you passed checkpoints tho - having to look at and hold a phone all the time is a bit annoying
I really want to like it, but...
The story seems good so far, but it doesnt play automatically. So you have to stop and figure out ehere you are and press a little thing. To me it ruins the whole point. And if you are walking in the sun you cant always see the screen. I hoped it would be like zombie run. I dont understand the pount of it if it make you stop and fiddle with it.
I like the premise
I like the premise of this, making getting out for a walk more enjoyable but for 2 days in a row now I’ve started up the app and my current episodes (the sentry challenge) progress has restarted despite not being past the 24 hours.

So much potential
What could be great is just poor. Instructions are lack lustre and no interaction between targets. I don’t know whether I can listen to my own music to fill in the gaps between missions or whatever. Tried once and reset as instructions were poor. Tried a second time and being honest thoroughly dull. Don’t bother
Great story!... but...
The Walk can be gripping - with neat twists and detail creating an excellent adventure. The voice acting and effects are often first rate, and the maps help submerge me in the world game. If you're looking for something to spice up your daily stepcount, this is an excellent option! But… There are times where the game doesn't hang together. In one episode someone declares “we’re back on the road”, talking about walking along it to blow up a car... but on the map we’re not on the road, and not heading that way. Mostly it's well tied together, but sometimes it isn't, and that's really jarring. On a more personal note, I’ve come to this from the excellent Zombies Run. What I’d love would be a “Zombie Run Mode” focussed on in-game play -automatically playing audio clips when you reach them, only showing items when you were near, only progressing “in-game”, and not demanding every kind of access to notifications / motion etc! Personally I don't want a stepcounter - I do want something that gets me out of the house for a good walk… so it makes it less the game for me That said, I do want to find out what The Burn are up to - so I guess it's got me hooked for now :)
Misleading!!!
I started the adventure due to being in quarantine, nowhere did it tell me that after 5 of the episodes I would have to pay for the rest. Imagine getting someone involved in a walking story just to spring on them that to finish the story they will have to pay, when they more than usually don’t have the funds too. Very misleading I’m more than upset. Thinking of deleting the app altogether now. Time wasted.
Good, but could be better…
I love the story line, but being a dog mom with two large dogs it’s difficult having to stop to play the unlocked clips. I’d love to have a hands free option that plays the clip as it unlocks. I’d also love to be able to play my music in between clips like I do with ZR5K and Zombies, Run!

Kinda disappointed
I’ve recently started using zombies run and was hoping this would be the same but for walking. I’m really disappointed that you have to keep getting your phone out to open content it is really annoying. Also would be nice to be able to listen to music without it cutting out every time the story starts!
Restore purchase each time
I’m currently on episode 7 and I’m finding the app very motivating. However, I wish I didn’t have to go through the restore purchase rigmarole every time! Otherwise a fun way to walk and while in virus lockdown a great way to do 5 miles indoors.
Disappointed
I wanted to like this app - the premise of having to walk to get a story is great. But it works so poorly on my iPhone 6s. The map is slow in responding. I am on episode 5 and twice it has lost my days data making me wait again to get the story. If I read that they have fixed these issues I will try again.

Really motivated
I'm recovering from a chronic illness, and this app is really helping me stay motivated, without overwhelming me I love that you can pace your self through the day.
Disappointing
App doesn’t track accurately, is very buggy and not at all integrated in the same way Zombies, Run is. The story is good but the fact content is one minute long and you have to go into the app to listen to it each time is just a hassle when you when you want to be walking along enjoying the story/the walking. Also notifications don’t seem to work meaning I’ve missed out on supposed “bonus” content. Overall, the app is clunky and not that easy to use. Also, as someone who lives in Scotland, those Scottish accents are dreadful.
Music is shame
Already am enjoying this app but it’s just a shame it doesn’t want to pause and restart my Spotify whilst I’m walking. Other than that really cool!
Good idea, but flawed.
I'm trying to show this app some goodwill as I absolutely love Zombies, Run! and use it daily. However, this still needs work. Why? 1) No music integration - what if my headphones are in and I'm walking? Wouldn't it be nice if the story unfolded without me having to tell it? Also, if you are playing music, the story kills the music off whilst it's playing, but doesn't bring it back. 2) The app really hasn't been tracking my activity very well at all. Just walked for 15 minutes. The little dot where I am moved about half a minute. Now have walked for 20 mins today and the little dot isn't even at 2 mins. 3) It also seems to gobble battery regardless of what's said in the notes. 4) Sometimes, I've gone into the app after walking and it seems to have forgotten that I started the episode, so have to kick it back into action again. NOTE: I've changed phones. Now on a 6S from the 5S I had previously. The app has lost all responsiveness and the screen seems to update once every 15 seconds so you can't scroll through the map or get it to do... anything really. Any chance of an update?

Lady Walker
This is making me walk more than normal so it's doing the job. The app is a little temperamental but when it sticks too much I exit the chapter and start again. Sometimes it's the only thing that gets it going again. Am halfway through, and my guesses on who are the baddies are so far good, but even following the cues I have no idea where this will end.
Really wanted to like this..
I deleted this app for two reasons: 1 - it doesn't seem to work with the iPhone music player very well (so either there is silence between story points, or I have to manually go into the app every time), and 2 - having to stop walking every few minutes to check my phone for new "clues", etc, is really inconvenient and kind of annoying.. I love Zombies, Run! If these things were fixed I would probably redownload this
Logical Next Steps...
It is disappointing that this app has not been upgraded to work on the Apple Watch. It seems like a logical pairing. Something for future consideration
Great
I am a total book worm, so to be fair the immersive, interactive game meets audio book approach was always going to work for me but this is wonderful. I was already walking quite a lot but since I got this I've increased, and it's nice having something that tracks my journeys too. I haven't some across any bugs so far, I'm about half way though. Big thumbs up from me!
Buy an audiobook instead
This app is advertised as a story (and game) to listen to whilst walking but you have to get your phone out every 5 minutes to unlock 1 minute of content. It would be much better if it autoplayed as you unlock new sections of the story, preferably with music integrated as you spend most of your walk with silence otherwise. Tedious and disappointing.
Great story but buggy
I'm currently 6 episodes in and the story is interesting. The idea behind the app of it works in the background whilst you do other things is great, only occasionally opening it up to listen to some story or find collectables. However the game is buggy and sometimes needs you to minimise the app and reopen it for it to work properly. An update hopefully would fix this but there hasn't been one for a while. It also doesn't record how far you have walked, just the time and number of steps. An estimated distance would be nice. If you want to walk, and to slightly increase it The Walk isn't a bad app. It's just not perfect, which is a shame from the creators of Zombies, Run!
A bit of disappointment...
I am just getting back into fitness and in the between days of the Zombies, Run! 5K Training I thought I would try this. I did the first episode today and I have to say I really don't care for it. The story is interesting and I like the concept but I don't like the interaction of this. I liked that Zombies,Run! Tells you how much longer to things and the audio allows for my music to be played in between. The Walk doesn't allow me to do that and I constantly have to be staring at my phone. Would it be that difficult to start an episode and have the characters say like 'oh it should just be ahead a couple of minutes' and then play the story audio as you get to it? I want to walk and enjoy it, not walk and stare at my phone. Kind of wish I didn't spend the money on this...
great writing but no music
I loved Zombie run, and this seems to have a similar high level of writing, but without the option of integration of listening to music and auto play when you've walked to goals, you're stuck getting your phone out of your pocket constantly to check if you can get the next bit. renders it unusable for me.
Fantastic App
Saw this app as a suggestion in The Metro Newspaper and on the App Store. I like novelty and I like earning things, and having an audiobook style spy thriller is a fantastic low cost way to keep me engaged. I walk for a significant portion of my travel to work each day and on day off I tend to wander so what better way to be rewarded for my everyday habits. With in app medals for: 1. Completing an episode (certain number of minutes of walking) in 24 hours 2. Not remaining still for 3 hours in a single period 3. Viewing and unlocking all the extras and pinpoint extras in the episode. It encourages you to continue to walk. The early episodes are generally 30-40 minutes of walking, I'm currently on Episode 18 and if you take every detour to collect the bonus items it takes 140 minutes to complete. So before you know it, your increasing your exercise amount without even noticing it. Superb. Only thing missing is some form of monetary reward for the medals. 10p for medal 1, 20p for medal 3 and 30p for medal 2, cash out via PayPal/Amazon Vouchers once reached £10 would be good.
What is this about?!
After reading the reviews thought this app sounded as if it was worth downloading. Umm no - it is, in my opinion, boring. The voices grate on your nerves and the story was totally uninteresting. As a pedometer for steps and time walked it seems ok but then I can get that on my apple health and other apps that are not as expensive as this app. I just don't get the point of this app at all.
Love this game!
Walking a certain distance to unlock the next chapter is a good idea and fun to do. The story was so engrossing I sometimes walked about in my flat to get the next part! The supplementary audios are also entertaining in a twisted way. Occasionally the app would slow to a crawl but restarting it should take care of that problem. Also you don't get notified when a chapter is ready to play despite setting the notification. Now I've finished I think I'll miss the characters. Hope there's a sequel...
Disappointed
Very disappointed with this. I personally don't need an app swearing at me. I also don't love that it is buggy about tracking my movement. It also is a huge battery drainer.
Bugs
Found this app really good until I got to a later (?) stage of the game/story (perhaps as another reviewer suggested, the change to IOS 9). Now it closes itself frequently and the actual app is slow. Please fix because I've enjoyed it so far!

Good excuse to walk
Nice idea. Gets you walking, gives you a good story and puts you right at the heart of that story. Each chapter is a walk to unlock audio story clips, find items and click on landmark icons to give more detail. I do my app walk while I walk the dog, or do the shopping, or even 'potter' around the house. It also will work while using the wii fit+ free step game (while watching favourite tv show). Only downside - it sometimes sticks. Just switch device off & on to unstick.
Disappointing
After the thrill of Zombies, Run! this was a let down. It's not intuitive at all to use, and it took me an entire episode of missed checkpoints and features to figure out even the basics. The app essentially requires that you have your phone in hand at all times, which simply isn't practical. I just started a "challenge," but the instructions were unclear and now I can't seem to go back, which means I'm likely to fail the challenge and have to go back. I'm looking forward to the return of Zombies, Run! I the spring. I like it much better.
Would be a five star app with one small change
It's pretty unreasonable to expect someone to drag their phone out of their pocket and keep checking it to see if they've reached the next part of the story. Please add an autoplay option to make it continue the story when you've walked enough!

Waste of money.
If you're looking for something to motivate you then this isn't it. It doesn't do anything. I walked miles and it recorded nothing and didn't unlock anything. However, if you want something to drain your battery at an alarming rate and to be patronised by the developers for actually expecting it to do something, then it's perfect.
Good story
Love the story But it would have been better if it was like zombie run with the story clips automatically cutting in It stays running in background so the app uses notifications to tell you how well you are doing though out the day.
The Walk
I must say I am disappointed. I thought I could walk with my iPhone in my pocket and it would perhaps alert me when I'd reached checkpoints, but no, I need to carry my iPhone in my hand and constantly check it and manage it with bare hands. It's winter! It's -20 C! I froze my hands, dropped my iPhone in a snow bank when I fell on the ice, missed all the points of interest in the dark, (It gets dark at 3 PM) killed the battery, then lost all the data for my return trip. Now I can't seem to grasp how to even proceed with the third episode. I'd rather just simply go for a walk without the bother and frustration.

I wanted to love this app but am finding it quite un-user friendly. The story is great and I love the idea, but find it annoying that even when you've walked enough to listen to several parts in a row, they don't play automatically, you have to select the next bit to play. The map interface is clever but makes it difficult to see which is the next part to listen to. Also even though I walked 43 minutes today, because I hadn't selected the next episode it doesn't seem to have counted towards getting to hear it. The 43 minutes seems to have been added to an episode I already finished. Great concept but difficult to use.
