Dan f
Awful- especially for a Buddhist app. They’re charging extra money after their initial $29.99 charge in July. Now they’re charging me $24.99 and $39.99 in August just a few days apart
Move the button
I tried purchasing the subscription but the text at the bottom blocks the continue button and i cant get past the screen because of it. I recommend fixing the screen so the button is more accessible.
Listener
I was hoping they would add new stories every month. It seems the content creators gave up on the app.
The Raft
An amazing story for thought provoking processes of life!
Misleading Subscription System
This app has a confusing subscription system with multiple plans. I thought I had canceled my subscription, but I only canceled the yearly plan and was still being charged for the monthly plan. That kind of setup is misleading and makes it far too easy for users to continue paying unintentionally. Apps with confusing subscription practices like this should not be allowed on the platform.
Disappointing
I really don’t know why you’re still piling bad reputation for yourselves, I paid for the monthly subscription and got billed twice in a space of 4 days. Which is not right. Thankfully my bank blocked the payment and notified me which now my card is blocked. That’s it. It’s nice having your stories. Bye.
Not enough user options
The stories are really great but this app gives zero options for the user. The stories just continue one after the other….no option to play just one. Not renewing unless updates are provided.
Amazing stories
I am so impressed with these stories. I actually don’t listen to them to sleep, I listened to them while I walk my dog and they are a trusted companion along with my 4 footed friend. And, each story has a powerful message that is relevant in today’s chaotic world.
Be warned billing is a scam
Be aware that even if you pay for the subscription initially through the App Store, they automatically enroll you in additional subscriptions that have to be cancelled via the website. Cancelling through the App Store doesn’t make a difference and they’ll hit you for $80 in additional subscriptions even if you cancel through the App Store before the trial period is up. Total scam.
Should be free
Something feels a bit off about paying for Buddhist wisdom for well being… it doesn’t align with Buddhist values of generosity and helping others without gaining benefit from it.
Too rushed
The rate of speech is too fast . Some of the stories give me anxiety because they are talking way too fast.
Nice
I initially had problems logging in after purchasing through Instagram but I then found the log in details in an email in my junk folder. I like it, nice stories. Some timed meditations would be nice too.
SCAM
They mislead you. Charged my account $39.99 a month, 3 times, and wouldn’t let me cancel my subscriptions. Had to call my bank to report the fraudulent charges. That’s not even what I signed up for. Disgusting. Worthless app and stories.
Unauthorised charge
Signed up for a year subscription, very surprised that a few days later I’m charged a monthly premium subscription. Be very wary of this app, for unexpected charges. It certainly wasn’t obvious the extra “sign up”, not sure if this happened when I logged into the app for the first time.
Feature request: Ability to change speed
This is a great app, but the voice speaks too fast. I would like a way to slow it down.
Simple inspiring stories
The app provides one with simple inspiring stories of the Buddha’s teaching.
Weirdly charging with no connection
All of a sudden, I’m being charged for a subscription I don’t even have
Stopped at OnBoarding
I gave this two stars purely based on on-boarding. I didn’t go further than that because it makes you pay before you have experienced anything inside the app. There is no free trial, there is no free content so the only way to find out if this app is for you is to fork out £40 for the year or £7 for a month. I will never know, but I hope one of the stories in this app is the Buddhist teaching to live in poverty…a lesson the creators of this app could learn something from as the only reason to not offer a trial is greed. I wouldn’t buy trousers without trying them on…I’m not paying for a subscription without seeing what’s involved in the app and the content you are asking me to purchase.
Doesn’t quite pull it off
Can be majorly improved. Firstly, many stories are read too fast to squeeze them into a short space of time which is the opposite of relaxing. The ones that aren’t read so fast there is no way to save them or favourite any. And as someone else mentioned, you are asked questions but you do t get any difference in the stories. I ended my subscription because of the first two points.
Pithy
Not what I expected. The ‘teachings’ are shallow and offer no insights to me. I wish I had not subscribed for a year.
Disappointing
This is such a nice idea but a terrible app. You answer questions when you sign up, one being how long do you want the stories to be, I said 20-30 minutes which was one of the options. But there’s no option once you’ve handed over your money to filter stories by length, no indication how long any of them are unless you click and play, and every one I’ve briefly clicked has been between 7 and 11 minutes. Awful waste of money, really disappointing.
Good stories!
I love the app, they are wonderful stories to listen to and even get to sleep with. The one problem is that they don’t seem to update them too often (if ever?) Despite having a “recently added” tab, it seems you’re paying for a subscription to a limited resource. There are no dates on any media so you’d have no way to know other than the recently added items you’ve already heard.
Complete Scam
Signed up for free trial and after exploring the app I decided to cancel the trial subscription. Found out later (similar to others) I had been signed up for two different subscriptions despite getting confirmations they were cancelled. Took 3 emails to get a response from the support team and then 4 more emails repeatedly asking for a refund which I should not have had to do given the fact that I cancelled the trial subscription. This company is a scam and is not in line with Buddhist teachings.
Overpriced.
I just had my discounted first month and got hit with the full price monthly renewal. It’s totally overpriced for what it is. Just go and buy some Buddhist books or look online. And I’m a practicing Buddhist so if I think it’s overpriceds god knows what others might think. Well apart from the fact that there isn’t one obvs
Charges
Make sure to pay close attention when signing up. Although it may seem like you're only subscribing once, you may actually be signing up for two subscriptions without realizing it. This lack of transparency is quite frustrating, especially when you enjoy the stories. It's important to note that they continue to charge you even after you've canceled your subscription.
Still be charged after canceling
I canceled my subscription in May, with a cancellation date of May 31. Was charged again in June with a new cancellation date of July 31st. I cancelled the subscription within the application and I’m still being charged. What do I have to do to make it stop?
great concept – not so great delivery
I was hoping these Buddhist stories would be delivered in calm, slow, dulcet tones that would help send me off to sleep. Unfortunately, the narrators voice is the opposite. My annual subscription has therefore been a waste.
Beware!
Despite canceling my subscription multiple times, this company continues to charge my credit card (caught by my bank). Very sad these practices hide behind the Buddhist image and practices. Shame on you all.
Be careful of auto renewal
Was charged a high $60 auto renewal. To be fair they did refund when questioned
Scam! Beware!
This app charges you a renewal subscription even after you cancel. Do not download and do not give them your CC info!!!
Subject: Request for Full Refund – App Subscription
Hello, I just subscribed to your application, but unfortunately, it does not meet my expectations. I would like to request a full refund for my subscription. The subscription does not appear under my Apple ID settings (Subscriptions), and within the app itself, I only see the option to stop the renewal after one year—which is not what I want. I do not wish to keep the subscription and would like to cancel it immediately with a full refund. Please let me know how to proceed. Thank you, Francois Mathieu
