What people like
- Great for beginners and experts alike.
- Beautiful design and easy to use.
- Helpful content improves your daily practice.
What they complain about
- You lose saved favorites after updates.
- App resets while you are reading.
- Daily reminders send wrong quotes.
Enhances the physical magazine in so many ways!
Wonderful content - I love the magazine and the app complements it - bringing teachings alive!
Terrible update
Recent update appears to have combined Daily Dharma and Triangle, in an attempt to get paid subscriptions to triangle. In doing so it has eliminated a ton of functionality from the Daily Dharma app itself, including the ability to look at past days, see popular daily Dharmas, etc. Depressing to see a cash grab like this that makes things actively worse from a Buddhist org. I'd pay something reasonable for the old app, which should've been the move.
Listened to feedback
Used to enjoy Daily Quotes, then they forced an update which erased all saved favorites. Deleted app. Update: The app moderators replied directly to this review and explained that they have expanded the availability of non-subscription content. I respect their individualized reply and I will reinstall the app to explore what is available. Added a star due to their thoughtful reply.
Update disappointment
The loss of the daily dharma favorites as well as the ability to scroll back for previous daily dharma quotes is very disappointing. I’m likely to not use the app much anymore.
Good but could be great
I love the content in this app but, it resets way too fast. I’ll start an article and have to put my phone down for something for a few minutes and, when I come back, the app is reset to the Home Screen and I have no idea how to get back to my article.
A Variety of Perspectives
I am grateful to have access to the Daily Dharma. Each day I scan the intriguing titles of the articles and gravitate to the one offering illumination to the moment I find myself in. It is a Blessing to have such freedom within the Teachings.

Lost wisdom
I’m very disappointed that in updating the app I lost years of bookmarked Daily Dharmas. It was so lovely to be able to reflect back on the quotes that were most meaningful. This is a lesson in impermanence, but I still wish all the prior wisdom was still available.
Limited selection
The app shows a limited selection of curated material taken from the magazine, which can only be read in the browser. It make sense to have the full magazine and past issues available in an app.
Opening to awareness
I am learning so much about improving my awareness of how I cause suffering, to myself and others. Thank you, Tricycle!
Bad update
This update really convoluted things, as well as not being able to conveniently scroll through past days. I doubt I will use this any longer.
Excellent app with a wide variety of offerings
I love this app! In addition to the daily dharma quotes, which you can save to favorites and scroll through past quotes, the app contains a variety of accessible Buddhist teachings in various formats including audio, video, articles, and more. Great for beginners or longtime practitioners.
App needs bug fixes
While I enjoy the app’s quotes, the app itself needs bug fixes. 1) FAVORITE QUOTES: The app stops saving favorite quotes after you have saved about 20 of them. 2) DAILY REMINDER: If you ever turn on the daily reminder feature, it stays on, even if you turn it off in the app settings menu. Also, when the reminder activates, the system notification banner shows old quotes —sometimes the same quote every day— instead of the current day’s quote. 3) NO IMPORT/EXPORT: There’s no import/export feature for your favorite quotes. So if you ever have to delete the app and reinstall, you’ve lost all your favorites.
Best start of any day!!
Short or long, the teachings of so many teachers is a blessing.
Interview with Jane Hirschfeld
Once again, a magnificent period of sitting at the foot of a master, a poet and interpreter of life. In words to shake my cobwebs and present a new way of being through her writing. James teased Jane to insights new to my ears.
A wonderful resource
I have really come to enjoy this app. It is choked full of helpful information that has been invaluable in my practice.
Subscription joinup
So much more enjoyable now that our subscriptions link from website to app more easily. One less thing to be mindful with. Keep up the extraordinary work. Rory
Wonderful App Design
App is so beautiful and easy to use! And has really great quotes! The best way to start your day with
Morning contemplation
Love starting my day with thoughtful quotes from Buddhist teachers
