Very good, no ads
This is a nice drawing app, and I really love the smooth animations. To those people who keep talking about how this app has “too many ads”, the app they’re mentioning is wrong. There are no ads here, and I look forward to seeing future improvements along with more brushes. While I do like the animated library, I feel like we could also have some still brushes.
Love/Hate Relationship
I want to love this app SOOOO BADLY. I was genuinely so exited to use it. Charging for extra brushes with more effects? Fine, I get it. Making the charges subscription based? That sucks, but ok. CHARGING A SUBSCRIPTION JUST TO SAVE THE THING YOU MADE??? ABSOLUTE BS. PLEASE. I am begging the creator of this app to PLEASE stop being overly greedy
Wish it had more brushes

Almost there
We saw this app recommended to us on instagram, it looked super cool, and is! However, definitely needs a few improvements. You cannot erase single strokes, it removes the whole selection, which is frustrating. Also, you cannot hide the background, to create GIFs on a transparent background. I would have loved an option to have one still brush to create stable under layers. The brushes they do have are amazing and really fun to play with. Can’t wait to see how the app evolves!

You can make a still brush by setting the speed on the particle brush to zero and also really good app for drawing
huge letdown
i saw this app on instagram and i figured it could be a cool new way to do animated commissions. boy, was i wrong. there was no options for any still brushes, ALL OF THEM ARE ANIMATED, which was not said here nor on the ad on instagram. secondly, there are only a few brushes you actually CAN use, and the rest are hidden by a paywall. and lastly, you can only have such a big canvas. if it exceeds anything over 5000 pixels, the app seems like it’s going to combust. you’re better off using the animated features on ibis paint or procreate, or drawing something on an entirely different app and putting it into this one, then adding your animated affects. 2/10.

I wanted to write a review, because I can see how much potential this app has, and I also see people just writing “it’s bad because it’s paid.” as an artist I’m actually excited to see this app develop, and I will be keeping it on my phone to see how it’s going. right now I cannot recommend it; this is an art app that does not function like an art app. as far as I can see; the eraser does not function like a eraser tool, as it only erases your entire stroke, not parts of the drawing like a normal art app. every time I close and reopen the app, my art could be there or it could not. there is no way to easily resize your brush. there is no undo/redo button. when doing lineart with sharp angles, the brushes struggle to stay accurate. there is no bucket tool, and the brush tool struggles to fill in large areas. I am pointing out all of these things and giving the app a 2 star rating, as I want to see it get better and I hope that the dev sees and maybe can make some changes to make the app better 🙏

False advertising.
I understand that they need to make money, but only a few of the brushes are free, and the only good ones are behind in app purchases. On their YouTube channel they fail to mention this.
Just okay
Very limited brushes, no static brushes, and it’s a monthly subscription vs a one time unlock. I’ll stick to procreate. But loved the idea of this.

A free app with no ads!! It’s easy to use once you know where everything is :3 also, so many moving brushes!!!!! :0 A few brushes that don’t move would be cool, but the animation is the whole part of the app :D overall, pretty cool! Definitely check it out ^_^

No undo option?
Sorry it’s incredibly frustrating having to delete a whole piece because there isn’t a undo option bc I accidentally brushed on the wrong spot And the eraser works for the entire line not an individual space ): I don’t want to rate bad since this is new but I do ask for an undo option in the future if possible
Great concept, poor execution
Feels awful to draw with. Non-fluid brushes (makes sharp corners when smooth curves are attempted to be drawn), frustrating selection of brushes (none of the free are good or customizable enough to be good), no redo button, and the eraser deletes an entire stroke rather than a section of a stroke. Completely dropped the ball. I hope to find a better example, as I was excited for this concept. Disappointing.
Great potential
Very cool potential, but ditch the subscription and do simple purchase options like procreate.
Eraser!
I really like the app! Its super easy and fun but the only thing i find as a downside is that i cant get a precise erase:( if i try to erase smth it erases the entire line i just drew not the spot i wanted, along with that i can zoom in a lot which isnt very fun. I really enjoy the app otherwise!
Work process vanished & laggy processing
All of my process just disappeared after 2 hours of work, I think this is a bug due to multiple layers of colour and it got really laggy, it’s best if you can fix this problem, I really love this app untill errors started to glitch, thank you…
Over all great idea!
I like how it's free with no ads and all the tools are easy to use. Also, I love the idea of animated brushes, I'm obsessed! However, I wish there could be brushes that were still for some contrast. I think it'd be nice to have animated details without it being the whole drawing, and I can think of many possibilities with that concept! Otherwise, I think this app is quite innovative and I can't wait to see all the things people do with it.
Needs Mouse Support
I wanted to love this app, but is works terribly when using a regular mouse and keyboard. Even enabling alternative inputs, where the brush actually draws on the canvas doesn't align to the position of the cursor. The animated brushes are a great idea, but I can't use this for anything serious on my macbook the same way I can with comparable design software. I was going to send a support request, but that interface is also lacking. Would love to see improvements made, it is a great idea.

SO FUN I SEE GREAT POTENTIAL ON HORIZON
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I absolutely love Amber Draw and I think a lot of people are missing the point of what makes this app special. I’ve seen several reviews complaining that there aren’t normal, non-animated brushes, but honestly, the entire purpose of the app is to create motion. There are already countless drawing apps available for static artwork. Amber Draw is trying to do something different by making it easy to bring illustrations to life through animated brushes, and it succeeds beautifully. What I love most is that it lets me add movement to my artwork without needing to learn traditional animation. Animation can feel incredibly overwhelming and time-consuming, but Amber Draw makes the process approachable and fun. I can create a finished piece of artwork and then add motion on top of it in a way that feels intuitive and creative. For people who want static elements in their work, there are workarounds. Since the app supports layers, I often combine it with other apps in my workflow. I’ll create artwork elsewhere, import it, and then use Amber Draw’s animated brushes to add motion effects. Thinking a little outside the box opens up a lot of possibilities. The brush customization options are also better than people give them credit for. They aren’t overly complex, but you can get some surprisingly unique results by tweaking the settings. The concept actually reminds me of the old Tilt Brush experience in VR, which I always thought was incredibly fun and inspiring. That said, my biggest request is simple: Please give us more brushes. A much larger animated brush library would take this app from great to incredible. I would love to see dozens or even hundreds of additional animated brushes added over time. Even better would be support for importing custom brushes or creating our own. As someone who owns thousands of brushes in Procreate, I know I’m a bit of a brush addict, but expanding the brush ecosystem would completely change the game for this app. I’d also love to see an eyedropper/color picker tool if one doesn’t already exist. When I’m painting over imported artwork, being able to quickly sample colors would make the workflow much smoother. Right now I work around it by copying hex codes from Procreate, which works fine, but an eyedropper would be a fantastic quality-of-life feature. Despite those requests, I genuinely think this is one of the coolest art apps I’ve seen in years. It gives artwork a unique sense of life and movement without requiring advanced animation skills. It feels fresh, creative, and different from anything else out there. It even scratches that nostalgic 2000s digital-art aesthetic that’s becoming popular again, which I personally love as a ’90s kid. I really hope the developers continue supporting and expanding this app because it has enormous potential. You’ve already earned a lifelong user in me. I’ll keep using it regardless, but if you give us more brushes, I’ll probably never put it down.

Brushes locked behind subscription
This would be better if it was like most drawing apps that just cost a one-time purchase and had everything unlocked. Making an art-tool a subscription service is always a bad look.
Needs a lot of work
It’s a great idea but needs a lot of work to make it a better app. You can only erase an entire line you’ve made not segments like normal drawing apps. You can adjust the brushes to make them not animate but there was no description to let you know, I just figured it out. This is bare bones, but I still love the concept so I’m going to hope this develops further!

So I just did five stars for you to see this. K, so I saw this app and I was like oh this seems super fun!!!! I downloaded it. But when I drew…. Everything was moving! I mean, can’t you just have some brushes that don’t move. I just want to make Lloyd from ninjago with only his powers moving! I also have a few suggestions…. Such as can you make a thing we’re you can see other people’s drawings? Also, can you add some backgrounds you can choose from. And please,pleaseeeeee! Great app! But.
I think it would be great if there were an opacity option for layers since some artists, such as myself, need a sketch layer before beginning to create the final piece of a drawing/animation.
Decent but need more free brushes
I enjoy the concept, but I think adding more brushes/unmoving brushes to the app for free would be nice (specifically the jitter brush)

Really cute and I see a bunch of possibilities I’m giving it 3 stars only because I’m tired of seeing subscriptions in my art apps. I will gladly drop a one time payment but the subscription are killing me. I also don’t like that there’s no way to fiddle around with it and make your own brushes. It seems like that won’t be a thing do to the brushes being behind a paywall.

Lacks some key features like -merging layers -transform controls like rotating and scaling -brush shape or editor -layer ‘speed control’ -rasterizing -etc

Fun but hard to use
It’s a good art exercise but very hard to use the way the eraser is and lack of settings. I wish I could merge layers and a selection tool would be nice too :,)
Free version is limited
Only like 5 free brushes and they’re not great for drawing with. Kinda fun to mess around with for a minute, but if anyone plans to download, be aware the app requires a subscription for full use 💀
Subscription models are anti artist
Great idea, but I’m not paying a subscription for it. I would pay 10-20 dollars for a one time purchase of this software in a heartbeat. I have bought procreate and both versions of HEAVYPAINT for 10 dollars each. I also agree with others that having some still brushes would be great for sketching
It’s good but I have some recomendations
I Love the concept. It’s really fun and I enjoyed testing it out. But there really def a few features I recommend. As an art program it has the basics, but it would be super helpful to have a kind of laso and a resize tool. I dont know if its already in there (if it is then I honestly have no idea where its at) But as I was drawing I found myself needing a laso/resize tool. (laso Fill too could be an added bonus for blocking out shapes) Later down the line you could eventually add in a timeline for animation, The brushes give an already animatic feel and they could save a lot of time.

Great Start
Would love more features for the app. For example i feel the popularity with totally explode if you allowed users to make and upload their own brushes. I have a great idea for a fish brush that would look so cool. Also I hate subscriptions. Even if its cheap I dont like continuously paying money to maintain access to brushes. If you want to make money I think brush packs are the way. Premium brushpacks that are regularly released I would love to buy. Maybe people can sell custom brushes on a marketplace you host and you get a cut of the profits. One last thing would love a slider to fade out the ends of the brush stroke

Needs more variety
It’s a nice app for simple art but It’s almost a waste. The brush variety is very limited and somewhat crude. When there’s an update, I’ll redownload the app.
