Love it! Beginner pathway
I am learning so much with this program. I been learning for 2 years but this is the first time I feel like everything is coming together. I’m excited to see how well I will be playing in the next couple Months.
A11Y/UX/usability needs improvement with VoiceOver:
Hi. I have asked a few times internally and have just been told Accessibility improvements are coming. Still have seen zero improvements. I am a paying member and can barely use this iOS app and Web app. Biggest pain points are bad accessible names, lack of element semantics, bad container grouping, focus management, announcements. When I open one of the course cards with VoiceOver on, I cannot interact with the entire next page. The video auto plays and I have zero control with voiceover. I cannot interact with the entire explore page from the bottom tab as voiceover reads it as one giant image container. These are all fast easy fixes. Please just devote a sprint or two to make this usable for VoiceOver users.
All the piano professors are men, but good app
Is it hard to find women teaching music ? Give it a try !
Good content made infuriating by app design
I’ve been playing for a long time on and off but have never put in time to understand what I’m doing properly. Trying to change that now. The content on Pickup seems good for that but there are some incredibly infuriating design choices on the app that make using it really difficult. They need to hire a UX designer fast. No matter how good the content is havibg multiple lesson videos playing simultaneously or the unpredictable controls to get the tabs to show make it a real pain to work with.
A bit too jazzy
Good lessons though
Great app
This app is easy to navigate and constantly getting new content. The instructors, particularly Karl and Molly, are outstanding. I’ve learned a ton.
No screen tilting??
I am trying your app on an iPad; how ridiculous is this that I cannot follow the content by tilting my iPad 90 degrees????
Experiences may vary
Great courses for some instruments at some levels, okay at others
Busy Work
I’ve used pickup music for a couple of months now and it has some decent content but it’s all jam packed with stuff to keep you busy instead of actually teaching you how to play. Molly the CAGED instructor is insufferable she’ll do all these crazy riffs and licks but not explain anything so you’re sitting there like why don’t I sound like that. Wouldn’t doubt if most beginners shy away for this alone. I’ve learned quite a bit but not how to apply it which is like most YouTube tutorials. If you are willing to shovel 179 dollars a year for this you are essentially paying for YouTube content with a pathway that leads to the same end goal. Knowing but not knowing how to apply. When I first opened this app I was ready to give it all the money I had but now I’ll probably be looking elsewhere :(
Navigation sehr unkomfortabel
Also immer hin und her. Besonders schlecht gelöst ist dann, dass der Playbutton genau unter dem Button für Vollbild ist.
Greatest guitar learning app
I’ve used JustinGuitar, GuitarTricks and WorshipArtistry, an PickupMusic is the best. The guided learning plans, and teacher feedback has helped me immensely. For the price of two guitar lessons with a live teacher I am receiving a year of lessons on guitar, bass, piano and soon drums. What a phenomenal learning experience.
App can be better, but courses are great
I have improved my skills since signing up. It motivates me to practice more and more importantly, gives me songs and techniques to work on. The app can be better though. Especially exercise page. I don’t like how they organize the exercise page, where I often tab the wrong place and jump to different places of the video. In addition, once I hide the video to check on the sheet music, I can never get the video back, unless closing and relaunching the exercise page.
Direktes Feedback
Schade dass die App nicht zuhört wie bei Yousician. Dann wäre es echt perfekt.
Love This App!
Corbin Jones is the best teacher you’ll find! This app is perfect for new and old players alike. I took a 12 year break from playing music live and needed something to get me back into shape. Not only did this app help brush off the dust, I actually feel like I’m better now than I was. Worth the money.
Very approachable
I love how this app splits up lessons, it’s very approachable. I’m picking up guitar again after a long time away and going back through the beginner course has been really fulfilling. My only gripe so far is that the tabs sometimes don’t scroll into view quite fast enough.
No landscape mode
Only 3 stars till landscape mode appears.
Love this app so much
I’ve been using this app for a few years now. It was great when it first came out and it’s improved a ton since. Cannot recommend Pickup Music highly enough.
Great Program, App needs adjustment
Hi - great program and love that you made an app available. Feedback: I am unable to put the exercise videos in landscape mode on my mobile device, so it is difficult to practice and watch the videos on the go. iPhone most recent iOS - thanks!
This is it!
I gave this app another try and it turns out the confusion I first experienced was all me. This is what I have been missing in my learning experience.
Looks good but does not start
I tried to click through the first questions but it always freezes at the ‘Did you know?’ Site with the graphics. I can’t click further, because there is no ‘Continue’ button coming up. I would love to use the app, please fix it :-) (I use IOS 18.5 on iPhone SE)
Really cool
It helps you feel like your building and growing instead of just learning bits and pieces of your favorite songs. I like it a lot actually. It is worth the money.
Promising app
I love Pickup lessons on the browser and am definitely excited for the app. The only feedback I’d give is to include landscape mode and the ability to adjust the text size or scale/chord diagrams (as of now they are too small to see). Otherwise, great work so far!
Really loving this all
I think this app is fantastic! I’ve been playing for over a decade and the coaches still all provide really great tips and feedback and the videos are super top quality. I’m loving it and that I’m learning new stuff in what feels like years!
Great structure to learn guitar
The course itself is amazing, but they just need to improve the app, can’t work when iPad is horizontal properly, just videos rotate.
Super helpful
Love pickup music. The subscription is a little pricey but compared to in person lessons it’s cheap and the results are undeniable. Leave your guitar out so you can grab it and do a quick jam and you’ll progress.
More Video Options
I would love to see a full screen video option. There’s no way to rotate the screen to go full screen, or to hit a full screen button. Ultimately, I’d like to stream it to my TV.
Amazing
If you want to learn. THIS IS THE APP- they better never lose this app. I love it so much
