Best app to improve reading, also best app to improve and learn English through reading.
Finally a rival in quality to the work of Ea Nasir!
Thank you for your contribution to the erasure (that means getting rid of) of literature (books), and in increasing (making more) of illiteracy (people who can’t read) in America! As we all know illiteracy has been increasing sharply in recent years, and your app is a fantastic contribution to helping ensure that these numbers only keep rising. In addition to the hard work you have done to help increase illiteracy, you are also doing so much to erase literature. By “dumbing down” great works, you remove so many layers of meaning from the texts as to render them almost completely different books. For example, in Moby Dick, the last sentence of paragraph one states that everyone harbors a desire to go sailing, if they only knew. However, in your wonderfully reduced version, you remove that pesky viewpoint, and just say that many others feel similarly. I really appreciate all this hard work you are doing, with any luck we can eradicate all human writers in the next 10 years! In honor of your accomplishments, I award you one star.

Cool idea
I love the idea of it. But I won’t use it until it has a lifetime option. I hate subscriptions.
MY FAMILY LOVES THIS APP
Hello Magibook team I am very happy for your success in Magibook. Please share this info on Reddit I will share the same information because this app is amazing for beginners to advanced readers! Thanks for making it possible my mom loves this app too!
Great idea but….
Here are some of the words used in the lowest level version of the book, “The Life and Adventures of a Cat” - are you ready? INGENIOUS, INTERWOVEN, DIVERT, APT, CLOY, DEXTERITY. These are just from the two pages open in front of me. I’m not cherry picking. The next page? It has these words: “encreased,” that’s right, not even increased, and my favorite early elementary school vocabulary word, “TERRAQUEOUS!” Is this entire app a prank?????
I don’t want to buy anything
I don’t want to buy anything and I am stuck on the free trial page and I have it on my phone and there was a “x” in the corner on my phone and not my iPad
😭😭😭
Do I need to buy the membership, just to read the books?😭
Minimal functions
It’s fine as a service of translating books, but that’s all it does. It doesn’t work as a reader since you can’t do basic things like search text, highlight text, bookmark, TTS, markup, etc. That would be fine if you could just export the pdf, since I already have a reader, but you cannot, and this is definitely the biggest problem. There’s no option to upload your own pdfs either, which I’d say is the second biggest problem
Intrigued by this app
Can’t wait to try!!!!
Recenzja
Nie ma książek które chciałabym przeczytać, bardzo mały wybór.
Amazing
Wish all books were free or had more books
decepção
o aplicativo era bem melhor quando não precisava pagar pra liberar mais livros
not enough accessibility features
I was really intrigued by this app, but like with most apps this one does not offer enough accessibility features for those of us who need audio or much bigger font sizes than are currently available. Therefore, I can’t use it. But what else is new? You’d think by now and 2024 app developers would already know to offer more accessibility features than the bare minimum. It’s a shame. edit appreciate the response from the developer. I changed my rating from 2 to 3 stars and hopefully one there are more accessibility features available. I can read it higher. :)
👌🏻
I think this app is very good
Terrible
I downloaded it just to read something and nothing was free. I tried most all of the books and they all said I had to pay so do not buy it.
Suggestions for best this already great reader
Hi, first of all thanks for the free premium. I am grateful for this app, made a big change in life in a positive direction. One suggestions I would like to give is please add a search button to look for new titles also please do add Hindi books like Rabindranath Tagore books, I would love to read them on the go.
Very limited collection of books
The app showing us what we should read.. very less collection of books firsty inspired after seeing ad but very disappointed..
How the app is going so far.
Just from starting the app it asks for your reading level, what’s kinds of books to you like, and even shows some books to see which ones are you favorite or what your most interested in. I give this app a 5 stars and after 5 weeks of me using this app more my reviews is get better and better.
It was free
But right now I need to pay because I upgraded the app
Great but..
This app is great for kids who love to read well all ages but there is no search and I would like to search for the books I love like Dork Diaries
The Betrayal of Art: The Perils of Simplifying Cultural Masterpieces
In a world where complexity is often sacrificed on the altar of convenience, the simplification of cultural works to make them more “consumable” is an act of intellectual vandalism. Such a movement not only strips the work of its essence but also insults the reader’s intelligence, reducing the rich tapestry of nuances and meanings to a thin, lifeless fabric. Art, in its purest form, should challenge, provoke, and inspire, not be diluted until it becomes insipid. The true appreciation of literature lies in its ability to transport the reader to distant times and places through language that is, in itself, a work of art. To simplify is to betray the soul of the work and, by extension, that of the author.
LOVE IT!
I JUST STARTED AND I ALREADY FEEL LIKE A BETTER READER
TERRIBLE
Ok so I downloaded this app to read one book for school, A Tale Of Two Cities. I bought the subscription, but less than a week after doing so, the app now never opens. So you’re telling me I spent money on an overpriced app and now you’re so cheap that you won’t even let me read the books I JUST PAID YOU FOR? NO! ABSOLUTELY NOT. do not download, and do not pay for the subscription.
Great! Needs a few accessibility features
This app is awesome for helping english learners and students who struggle with reading. 2 things would make this app amazing. 1. A search function. There is no way to type a title you just have to scroll through. 2. Text to speech option, or able to use it on a computer to pair it with a text to speech reader. This would help accessibility for those seeing impaired, or who struggle with text.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Honestly I wasn’t sure what to expect but Magibook is kind of blowing my mind. I’ve always wanted to read classics like The Count of Monte Cristo and Frankenstein but every time I tried, I’d give up halfway — the language just felt too dense or old-fashioned. With this app though, I can actually follow along. I started with the “beginner” level and then bumped it up as I got more confident. It doesn’t feel dumbed down, it just feels more… readable? Like someone finally made books for people like me who didn’t grow up reading Shakespeare in school. I’ve already finished 3 books this month which is honestly insane for me. I even started reading on the bus instead of scrolling TikTok lol. There are a couple minor things I wish were better — like sometimes I wish it explained certain cultural references more clearly — but overall this is the first reading app that’s actually working for me.
Horrible
You can only read 10 boring books for free you have to pay like $30 bucks for the rest it is horrible don’t download
Scope of improvisation
1. I would very much like to see the new additions to the likes of plato, Socrates, and the likes of political philosophies which are in the discourse. 2. I would appreciate if we could have the option of changing the size of text and maybe the font and colour including the zoom feature. 3. It would be engaging to have markers and text liners and a tool for saving the favourite part.
🥸
Can you add : tab on the edge of the screen to advance to next page please.
Make it free/ add books that people will actually read
It’s not worth downloading if you can’t read anything interesting or have to pay to read a book. Nobody wants to read about “The Gettysburg Address” or anything by Thomas Paine
I request for provide a book rich dad poor dad
Rich dad poor dad
Just read my first book in years!! 🥹
I was never a big reader until I found this app. I kept buying hard self-development books with hopes that they would help me build discipline, but I quit 3 pages in. I always thought that I was the problem, which diminished my confidence further. I stopped reading for a few years completely until I met my English teacher by accident. She recommended this app that she uses to help students with reading. It really helped!! Turns out my English was not as good as I thought, and those books were just not my level. I'm really thankful for this app as I just finished my first book IN YEARS! Can't recommend it enough!
Why did they launch this?
This app has only 9 books to choose from. 😳 I assumed it would allow the upload of any pre copyright text (for instance, from Project Gutenberg), but not so. Maybe they intend to get there. In the meantime, this seems like a premature launch and waste of time.
Maybe I’ll actually read now …
I never leave reviews, but this app intrigued me and has surpassed expectations. I am someone who struggles to read. Trying to comprehend what I’m reading is distracting, and I end up losing track and giving up. I haven’t read a book since I was in elementary school for this reason. It was always a struggle for me. I never even thought to attempt the classics…knowing how clever the wording was. This app has made it simple enough where I can pay attention and still be able to say I read the book. It gives me an opportunity I didn’t previously have. So many people are hating, but that’s because they don’t see the bigger picture. EVERYONE deserves a chance to read whatever book they like. And this app is the key to unlocking that possibility. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because there is a limited amount of options. Ideally I’d like to see thousands of books, not just classics. All genres, all age groups, big and small authors. This app has so much potential and I am excited to see it blow up. You should seriously go on shark tank and get some huge backing to make a software like never before. I’d invest in it.
great for my kid
wasn’t sure if he’d stick with it but he’s actually finishing books now. the language is just right for him, not too easy but he doesn’t get lost either. really glad we gave this a shot
The contents aren’t even good
I was painfully curious so I downloaded the app and checked it out. First, there’s only 10 entries on the app (these things are no longer books). The writing is simplified, and it’s also horrible. There are typos, poor grammar, and most sentences are incomplete because they lack the basic building blocks of a sentence. To call this an educational tool is disgusting. This is nothing but thievery and laziness. To twist the original authors words so much and claim it as educational is abhorrent. This app should never be on the App Store. The fact that Apple allows slop like this is pathetic and embarrassing
Unlearn your ableism before getting this app
Seriously, SO MANY of the posts on social media and these two reviews are based on the premise that this app is “dumbing down” literature. First off, READ the text in the first preview image. For folks who claim to be so “educated”, it’s very evident that you’re viewing this app through a reactionary lens of moral outrage that’s really just ableism masquerading as some twisted sense of undeserved “superiority”. It is very evident that this isn’t for the average person who can read the classics and learned to analyze them, it is meant for people, including educators and the intellectually disabled. This is clear from the start. This is NOT about the “idiocracy” (God help you all who use the same exact movie reference to denigrate anything that you don’t like) this is about ACCESSIBILITY. Accessibility is literally what disabled people lack on a regular basis and those who are intellectually disabled deserve opportunities to learn. Given how new this service is, this is actually a necessary use case to accommodate intellectually disabled and neurodivergent people, as well as those who suffer from functional illiteracy. My main criticism of this app is in the AI implementation. But note that, at the moment that I’m writing this review, it is a free app and I’m hoping that the AI implementation can be a bit better as, currently, the syntax seems to be the main issue. There are times when subsequent sentences don’t really match in terms of context. I think that using more complex large language models for better and more appropriate diction could improve this and, given the cost and potential value, I would see this as a potentially valuable paid service. I would also suggest the author to collect expert opinions from literary scholars, disability advocates, and childhood education specialists who can confirm this app’s value. If such reviews already exist, I would suggest to the author that they add this information to their website and their App Store description.
