What people like
- Helps you read before bed
- Good for short reading sessions
- Includes audiobook listening options
What they complain about
- Not actually free despite the name
- Books feel generic or AI-generated
- Lacks popular classics and well-known titles
- Hidden paywall surprises new users
So far so good
I really like the questions asked. Like for instance, I LOVE to read but my attention span has changed greatly due to some neurological problems that I’ve been dealing with. So this app will remind me to just do a 10 minute session and up as I feel comfortable. I love audible books too. That ends up making me fall asleep and I don’t know when I knocked out. So just doing a 10 minute audio session with an alarm will help me too. I’ve got to get those neurological brain waves and muscles back into shape. I feel having to not worry about paying for it, helps a lot for me!!! I was always thinking about the 14.99 a month that I can’t afford just to read maybe 20 minutes a month!
N/A
It’s not even free
Not free but worth it
I like reading and listening to books, this app offers interesting shorter books and a variety of genres
Did
No graphic novels
It’s okay
This app is good but not the best. It has many books of the genre I want to read about, but it doesn’t have the books I want to read
Thanks
Thanks for letting us read free
Not free!!
Not fre
Dark mode?
It’s an amazing app, I love it so much, but there doesn’t seem to be a way to turn on a dark mode, and the light mode hurts my eyes. Is there a way to add the feature? Or is the feature hidden somewhere in the app and I just can’t look. Overall amazing app though, have loved reading on it so far.
FREE-books but... U need a trial..?
Apparently freebooks needs you to have a trial so it can be free.. Whys free in the name then..?
Said free but…
A real convincing title but really just not free and not lots if books to choose from
New to the reading world
Love everything about it
NOT FREE
Why would you name an app freebooks if it’s $40 a month. Ridiculous
Love this app, but
I wish the books had pages. As someone who tracks the amount I read in pages, not chapters, I would appreciate if you could add a page function for the readers that want it along with the chapter layout for the readers that like that format
Blah
if you like to track your reads on apps like goodreads this isn’t for you. everything i’ve wanted to read isn’t listed anywhere. and i’ve never heard of most of these titles
Good app but
Add Harry Potter please
Great reading app
I love this reading app as it allows me to customize the text I’m reading but it also allows you to recap on everything that you have read so far making it easy to remember everything in the story.
Warning: THIS APP IS A SCAM!!!
I signed up for a 7 day trial. Early on the seventh day, hours before my subscription expired, I was charged $39.99 for an annual subscription. This was a premature decision for FREEBOOKS. Apple refused to honor my request for a refund. By the way, these books are low quality and read by an AI reader. I’m really by these inappropriate actions!
Needs more popular and representation books
The title says it all
NOT FREE
I downloaded this app because it says free but it’s not. You get a trial period and then you pay afterwards. Not for me and I thought I would let others know.
✌️
such a good app!
Horrible experience
I canceled my subscription well before renewal and I was still charged
It’s good but with important caveats!
Instantly made me create an account without letting me look at what they had to offer, then prompted me to create a review without looking at what they had to offer, then paywalled me after saying that the app is FreeBooks. Has a lot of AI generated cover art not sure if the books are made with AI but the cover art is. With all that being said there are some interesting stories on here. The app is beautifully designed listening to the stories is simple and quick if you want to read they give you that option well just know that the app isn’t free. It’s paywalled. Wish they’d not lie about that but that it is a good app. Despite that all that
free books
It’s ok to me
I love FreeBooks
I love too read before bed it really helps me wind down my mind and helps me sleep better at night
NOT FREE
Why title the app FREE BOOKS and then immediately try to charge me $39.99?
My Review
I was trying to find a free audiobook app. I stumbled across this app and thought to myself “wow this app looks amazing!” It had the title free books so instinctively I thought it was free! It was amazing and I was answering the questions with absolutely no payment whatsoever! I thought this was a game changer until it asked me to start a free trial and then I would have to pay… you literally have the title “FreeBooks”!! I was really annoyed about that but it genuinely looks like a good app if you want to pay the money, personally I don’t.
Early review prompt
This could be a 5 star worthy app, the setup seems pretty easy and self explanatory (coming from a programmer), but I will say I was asked to leave a review before I even finished the setup… I apologize if I change my mind about the rating later and cannot change it, but either way I was asked to leave a review way too early. Then again, Apple may be in charge of that and not the owner of the app. ❤️thanks for helping me getting back into reading
The best book I read
Relaxing a mystery
Limited choice of books
I typed in at least 10 classics and not a single one was in this app
Generic stories
Every story is so generic except some and also there are basically no pictures in the kids books
More books
Do you think you could add more modern young adult or children’s books since I don’t really want to be reading all the old fashioned books?
Amazing
I love this and I can finally finish a bunch of books. This is a must have!!!
Not free
Makes me get free books plus when making account with way to x
good but not at the same time
at first i thought the books were good but then i started reading more and was noticing a lot of repetitive phrases and sentences. i decided to look up the authors and the book title and they wouldn’t come up, the author would either not exist and if the title existed then it was on a completely different book that had nothing to do with the one i was reading, so i don’t really know if the books are ai or what but i was only reading the romance books specifically so i don’t know if it had something to do with that and if this was happening with other book genres as well.
Great read
I recommend this book to anybody who likes deduction of reasonings
free?
How are you going to say the books are free and you can read any time but then it costs 40 dollars per year? Do not advertise something is free when it is not. That is false advertisement. The only thing that is free is the free trail.
Not free
It’s weird that the name is freebooks when you have to pay to read them, doesn’t make sense to me
Free books
Much easier than hawing to go to the lib
no variety
i got this app and was really excited, because it seemed legit and easy to use. i've been looking for free book apps so that i read more often. i have a very wide taste of books. i read classics, such as osamu dazai, fyodor d, scott fitzgerald, and let me tell you.. they had NOTHING that even peaked my interest in the slightest. absolutely nothing. only boring sci fi romances that were made by low budget, unknown authors. thanks, but i will be uninstalling. good luck with this app.
