Opposite of Zen
I’m trying to understand why this is called zen. It is frustrating and annoying. You are supposed to bring gens to a symbol to upgrade your pond. I’ve been swimming for days and haven’t found the symbol. You are supposed to eat things that are a pain to catch. My fingers hurt from pressing and trying to chase them. Granted it isn’t super hard but I was looking for zen not arcade.

This game gives you something to do with your phone during your downtime that doesn't demand full attention.

All there is to do is swim fish around so that they eat bugs. You breed them and collect fish. That’s it.

The free-to-play version is arguably a better game
The free-to-play version of this game has limited slots for eggs and fish, and makes you wait to hatch eggs (or spend in-game currency). This makes for a better game. There’s now a meta-game: what’s my best use of my limited resources, what am I best doing in the half hour that I plan to play the game, before doing something else while my eggs hatch? With those limitations removed, you can play the game for hours and hours, which is unfortunate as it’s not a good game. There is precisely one decision you can make when swimming around in the pond, which is when to put points into getting rare eggs. Otherwise you do the same thing over and over again, just with a different skin or palette swap for your fish. Also: Zen? The game is about being an apex predator, trying to capture prey which frantically try to escape your grasp. The meta-game of “gotta collect them all” actively encourages you to engage with the law of diminishing returns, repeatedly breeding fish types you’ve seen before many times before you finally get the one you need to finish your collection. Quite an achievement, to make a boring game so stressful.
Bit in the middle so far
This game seems great to start with. But very quickly becomes repetitive. I hate the way my koi are sorted. I can’t see which ones I should release and which are unique. If they could at least be grouped together, that would help. I don’t like that you have to start from slow non agile koi every time, even when you have upgraded the previous to maximum. Has the bones of a great game, but staring to get bored.
Same thing, but the design
You get a koi and then you make it a dragon, how well first you have to eat pray then is your koi can breed , breed it with mates. Then you have to make the pond bigger, the dragon designs are so pretty that I can’t stop staring!😊

Stressful
Wow, incredibly stressful to play, just cannot control the carp and miss the fish over and over again. Can feel my stress level rising.
Quickly loses appeal
It’s novel and fun at first, but it soon loses any engagement and appeal because of its lack of variety, leading to repetitiveness. Lovely concept let down by any sense of depth to keep you interested.
A good, chill, zero consequence game
Good to play if you like to hit a 30 min mobile game sesh before bed. Nothing you do (from what I’ve seen so far in 3 hrs) can negatively impact your fish besides showing a subtle damage indicator on entering a thorn bush. Beautiful art style and fun gameplay 9.4/10
Not worth your time right now
It’s pretty, sure. But I’ve maxed out about five fish currently and there’s just… no reason to keep playing. The levels hardly vary life to life so it’s literally the same 5 stages for… a slightly different fish. The dragons do nothing and the dragon points do nothing to save you time. It’s just not worth the download in its current state, sorry Apple. TL;DR until they add more content it’s a cute game sure but there’s absolutely nothing to do. I know it’s supposed to be zen but that doesn’t mean not rewarding or fun.
Could Really Use a “Call a Mate Button”
Overall, this is a very good, relaxing game. I would give five stars, except for one flaw. I often find myself with almost all of the koi in a collection, but there’s one left that is frustratingly hard to breed. A “call a mate” button would make it a lot easier to finish breeding all the koi. (If you don’t want to make it super easy, you could make it so it only appears once your koi reached a high level - like 15-20. Or not appear until the fish’s ability points are maxed out.) Please add this button so I don’t spend hours waiting for the right mate to finish my collections!

I love the game because it’s really fun to breed fish and get to learn about different breeds and how rare or common they are, but I don’t like Is every time I get to a higher level I have to get more and more pray for more and more eggs and just kind of gets frustrating but overall I kind of rate this game four out of 10.

I like this version but I miss being able to swim around in the dragon form like in Zen Koi 2. Otherwise the graphics are great.
Stressful
I didn't think this was relaxing at all especially with the expanding pond. It is hard to find where you have to go. And the music is irritating because it is just the same thing on repeat.
