ALMOST five stars
First of all, I don’t think I’ve ever written a review for a game but this one deserves it. This tests your listening, retention, and deduction skills to the max. You fall in love with all of the characters and truly feel immersed in the game. I played for literally HOURS and HOURS each day and it still took me about 5 days to beat all of the episodes that have been released. This is probably my favorite game I’ve ever downloaded. BE ADVISED THE GAME IS NOT FINISHED YET! That was a sad/ happy surprise when I finished episode 3. A few minor flaws with it: 1) I don’t like that you have to play 3-5 mini games after each scene to unlock the next part. If I’m paying the $8 to unlock all the parts of that episode, I feel as if it should cover that as well. It can get insanely expensive buying diamonds to try and skip that stupid match game so you can get to the next episode. I would much rather pay a higher fee to buy the game than feel like I’m getting scammed because I want to know what happens. I would recommend either charging 15-20 to unlock all features of that episode or charge a flat rate of $20 for the game and add in different puzzles that don’t cost money but you have to beat to continue than swindling your customers out of more money. 2) Some of the missions or whatever they’re called that you have to beat in order to get diamonds are frustrating. I get not wanting to reveal anything for the plot line but one of them is “get compared to so and so (not giving away spoilers on purpose)” but you have zero idea when or how you’re supposed to do that. The other one is “flirt with so and so while he does this task” which I did, but it didn’t credit that one All and all I would rate this game a 4.7 out of 5 stars but it would be 5/5 with fixes to those parts.
Minigames are annoying & far too prevalent.
The notion that when redoing the story for different avenues, to her achievements etc requires the same inane minigames you’ve already had to go through once is preposterous. I played Duskwood, I’ve gone through this and patiently waited for the new release but now I’m being blocked from proceeding by stupid, poorly designed minigames.* I’ve entirely had enough and will not be continuing going forward. I feel a great anger toward the developers for this since I’ve put so much time into this and won’t be getting the pay-off from the Duskwood side quests. *They’re either poorly designed or are specifically designed to be awkward to encourage the purchase of gems. The current one I’m on and will remain on because I’m not doing this rubbish any longer involves clearing ~50 obstacles. I can get down to one of them with 20+ moves left and fail.

eu quero mais o jake, pfvr🙏🏻
Matc three game in reality
Now there are mini games that need matching symbols to add ‘stars’. So you can continue the game. Going to delete, and request my money back. This isn’t a an interactive story, it is a natch 3 game.
What the heck?
What I wanna know is, why you make the puzzle so hard and then give us only two minutes of story before pushing us back into it. You guys take so long to put out episodes that are mainly just based on game and very little dialogue. So I’m not sure what takes so long to write everything. Duskwood I loved with all my heart, but it was so much different. Guys don’t fix what isn’t broken. Listen to your readers.
Top Notch
The best “game” I’ve ever played in my entire life. I feel like I’m IN it. From the Story posts to the FaceTime calls, they bring you inside the game and into the adventure. My heart is literally beating out of its chest. PLEASE HURRY WITH EPISODE 4!!!!!!! PLEASE.
What can I say
Android people seem to love the new episode, we have all waited 1+ year for. iOS people wouldn’t know, apparently we have been left out.
Idk
O jogo no geral é perfeito! Eu só tenho que criticar os minijogos, são MUITO difíceis, estou a 3 dias tentando passar de uma fase para a outra ser difícil tbm, isso desanima muito 😭 Tirando isso - as dinâmicas e interação são ótimas
GEM SYSTEM NEEDS REMOVING
As someone who absolutely adored duskwood and played it over 4 times, I was buzzing to play this! But the horrendous mini games and need for gems all the time is nothing but pure robbery! The mini games on duskwood were at least beatable even if you had to persist for while. But I just one mini games where I had to get rid of cloud looking things and the game literally never provided me with enough of them to break, I went over 8 moves without a single one appearing. If you need money that badly just make your game a few quid and give people options on how to spend money, don’t force everyone off your game! It’s a joke and it’s very sad that because of this I will not get to experience the story, because I know the devs are great at storytelling. Just sort the gems and minigames out!!!

I really like it
WHATS THE POINT OF THE GAME ?????
What’s the point of the game So basically ur just texting some guy when u start the game been texting him for the last 5 min got board of the game texting the guy an if that all u do in this game it’s not worth playing am not going to be texting the guy for a hour just to do other stuff not worth the download am deleting the game
Puzzles
O jogo é maravilhoso (sou suspeita a falar pq amo duswood 🫶🏻), mas os mini games estão muito difíceis, isso acaba desanimando e perdendo a emoção de jogar 🥺
There are definitely some problems
The actual story seemed decent but the constant need for gems is ridiculous and the little achievements that earn gems only give you maybe one or two gems, I feel like this game is mostly based on the need for money, you spend more time on mini games then the actual story and if you run out of hearts you have to wait hours for your hearts to come back, even for certain choices you need gems, I personally didn’t like this and the prices for silly little gems is also ridiculous, I really wish these type of games weren’t so money focused, it’d be a pretty good game without the mini games and constant need for gems, I wouldn’t recommend unless you’re willing to spend money and play poorly designed mini games, I didn’t even finish episode one before deleting
Moonvale
The game is really good but I don’t want any boy to flirt with me in game like I am not 🏳️🌈 please make update and change it and make choices for flirting it really annoying me
The best mobile game
Moonvale is one of my favorite games, along with Duskwood. The whole atmosphere of the game is incredible. I love the story so far and am excited to see where it goes! The puzzles stay entertaining and have a fair amount of challenge and easy puzzles.
Moonvale
Scary game
Amazing
I’m super impressed with the detail and the formatting of the games! My only singular gripe(which may be the point) is the flurry of back and forth at the end between two stories. My only hope is that the next chapters can come quickly! I’m super excited to find out where it all leads! And who Jake really is!
wanted to love this
Just started playing this after Duskwood, and I can't believe how much they downgraded. Now there's silly use of AI, the mini games are more tedious, you have to pay for premium content for each episode... the whole thing feels like a huge cash grab, despite the cheaper feel compared to Duskwood. I want to play this out, merely to know what happened after DW, but now I hear it's been almost a year since they dropped an episode. If the devs even continue this game, they better take into account all the complaints they've been getting.
Review
Notnintonthe anime characters. They re so unlikeable. I like the original games better
The most addictive games I’ve ever played!
Everbyte Studio has created something truly magical with Duskwood and Moonvale. The whole concept of putting the player right at the center of the mystery as the main protagonist is incredibly immersive. You genuinely feel like you are using a real phone, texting real people, and solving actual cases.Being able to carry choices over into Moonvale is brilliant, and the way the team blends a brand-new mystery with deep, hidden updates from our past journey keeps you completely hooked. The friendly new characters, the insane plot twists, and the realistic multimedia elements make the entire experience so addictive.A massive round of applause to the creators and the whole development team for their amazing work and dedication. I absolutely cannot wait to play the upcoming episodes!
Sorely let down
It’s turned into a cash grab and the whole experience that made Duskwood so popular has gone. I’m not stuck on the app telling me the version is out of date, but no update on the App Store so is unplayable. Such a shame as duskwood was incredible and the mini game made sense with the story.
Love!
I came after Duskwood. I found Duskwood right when they released episode 6. I fell in love with the characters, of course the love interest (which I am playing this in hopes he comes here too in the side story!!!!) and the connections they build so well! I recommended Duskwood to friends and one of them said while they were playing, one of the characters asked what they were doing and he forgot that it was a game! Which was exactly the feelings I got while playing it. After Duskwood, I was apart of the waiting group for this game to drop. I was so excited and kinda let down. I decided to leave it. Well, a marriage, a child and a move later I thought to myself I really miss Duskwood): and I played it for the 6th time (I know it’s a lot but seriously I recommend it). I finished and decided to try this again. I’m being patient this time seeing it had improved in further episodes. I have faith in the developers and excited to see where this goes! Side note: I am just REALLY hoping there’s more contact and story with Jake. 😭 I would love love love it if there was ! Honestly a whole game of it would be awesome. Anyway, I would recommend this game !
Unable to play
Game doesn’t load, even after reinstall
interesting concept .. still might quit
the game itself is interesting. i enjoy the story and the characters. i’m not a fan of the AI, but saw someone say the devs are trying to steer away from it so hopefully that’s true. so why might i quit? the ‘mini games’ are ridiculously hard. i feel like i’ve barely made a dent in the story but i haven’t been able to progress in two!! days because i’m stuck on a mini game. at first, i thought i was just dumb and bad at it, but reading the reviews i realize this is how most players feel. as some others have stated, it does feel like a cash grab at times. the mini games are SO hard that you feel inclined to spend diamonds just to skip it so you can play the actual game. but you barely get awarded any diamonds, so eventually you’ll be forced to spend money, spend days playing one mini game, or quit entirely. and that’s not even including the fact that in order to make more interesting choices or see content, you also need diamonds for that. personally, i’m not interested in spending money on any mobile game. i would happily watch ads to gain diamonds or skip levels or see extra content. i understand you guys need to make money, but sheesh! unfortunately, probably going to give up on this one.
Need new episodes ASAP
I absolutely loved playing this. When it got to the end I was shocked om the edge of my bed like omg!!! I need more episodes ASAP!!
Basura
No pude vincular mi primer episodio después de tanta espera y los puzzles son estresantes
Love this game
Wish they had the 5 dollar option they did in duskwood to unlock all videos and recordings ect. loving the story line so far!!
Tired!
When the app icon changed, I got excited and thought a new episode had finally dropped—but nope, nothing. I totally understand that quality takes time, but it’s been so long that there’s honestly no excitement left anymore. Even if Episode 3 comes out now, it’ll probably take at least another year for the next one. And the whole mini-game and diamond system is just exhausting and way too expensive.
Not Duskwood
Loved Duskwood and this just doesn’t come close. They’ve changed things that didn’t need changing and not made the transition to a new but continued story very seamless. Our characters presence in the Moonvale story is just odd and the Duskwood characters make even less sense. The Jake romance has gone from epic to lame. Just riding on the success of a completely different game. Should have either stayed with the Duskwood world or completely abandoned it.
Too fast
I went through this game way too fast. I was very happy to see my friends from Duskwood. Personally, I prefer the games from Duskwood to the games in Moonvale.
⭐️
There is no need for the puzzles to be as difficult as they are and not enough moves needed to complete it, you can’t even enjoy the game because of the stupid puzzles, this is the same issue as in Duskwood game. The puzzles completely ruin the whole game.

Diamonds ruining the game play
Duskwood is my favorite IOS game by far. I was so excited to hear that the developers were working on a new project: Moonvale. The immersion of Duskwood was so wonderful, but Moonvale requires non-stop diamonds to enjoy the aspects of text-story games that set this game apart from others. The use of video, voice memo, photograph, and personalization, are trapped behind a pay-wall. This would not be an issue if it were not vital plot points to the story. I feel like 2/3rds of my time is spent completing advertisement tasks to unlock a picture or video. It’s frustrating, because the other half is completing mindless connect-three games based on luck in order to make any progression forward. I almost don’t even want to finish playing this game because of it.
No new episodes in past year
Love the immersive and interactive storyline (loved Duskwood)... but we're hitting the 1 year mark and they've still only released 2 episodes... because of this, I keep forgetting this game even exists and to be honest, Ive simply lost interest and moved on to other games because the wait time is just too long. I also never liked the constant requirement to play the mindless match-3 games in order to progress in the story. It interrupts the flow of the story/game, making it easier to just lose interest. I'd rather just pay to own the game or be forced to watch ads, at least then I can multitask...
Лучшая детективная игра
Отличный, насыщенный эпизод. Жду продолжения)))
Sell out to AI
I absolutely loved Duskwood, I’ve replayed it several times and it’s one of my favorite games of all time. So, I was super excited to hear this game was coming out. I was so disappointed to find out that they are using AI for this game. It’s absolutely disgusting and completely disheartening to hear.
Great game as always but…
I love the stories you guys make and im so excited for future episodes. but can we not ruin the moment by including diamonds to unlock certain photos/paths? Its already bad enough we have to do these puzzle games. Thanks dev team for ur hard work though <3
Disappointed
The story is good so far, can’t fault it; I like that video & audio calls now come with the option of subtitles too. But overall, as a huge Duskwood fan, the game feels like they traded passion for greed — it’s all about the money. Everything good in the game expects a fee. The diamond system is horrible & expensive. I initially liked that you could personalise your profile, but the randomised chest means you never get the combination you want. Even if you tap the thing you want, it doesn’t give it to you. The use of AI character images doesn’t massively bother me, but they do feel less “real” & personalised; the photos made them feel more real in Duskwood. Them being real people created the perfect feel. I hate that there’s no way to access old videos / photos / documents / files like Duskwood had (if there is, I can’t find it). It’s expecting you to rely on memory, which would be fine if you could binge play the whole game to completion, but due to the expensive cost of the diamond system, this isn’t possible. I have personally always hated the mini game, & although I love that you can now skip it — it’s far too expensive. The mini-game itself isn’t even relevant to the story — at least in Duskwood it served to unlock data from Hannah’s cloud. This time, there is no purpose to it other than unlocking the next part of the story. Pointless. Just retire it & be done. Overall, the amount of cash I have put in is more than enough to purchase what I consider the main game to be worth. I refuse to pay more & I’m not even halfway through. If the game cannot be completed without more cash, it’s unfortunately getting deleted. I was really looking forward to this game & more than happy if it came with a purchase fee, but this is genuinely disappointing. I’m gutted because the actual story does look good & I want to know what happens, I just can’t justify the cost.
Another dead end game
Just like A Elmwood Trail it stops in the middle of the game so you never know what happens until they finish more episodes …..
отличный детектив для тех, кому нравится duskwood и в целом данный жанр
эпизод 3 невероятно затягивает, очень жду выхода 4-го
Where is Jake???
Jake Donfort was given a promised return and that promise has not been kept. HOW DARE YOU TEASE US WITH NYMOS?? Jake best return because it is not the same without him. This game can not separate our love.
Moonvale
Amazing game. Found seriously interested can’t wait for episode 3. If you are a bit impatient though, the mini games might not be the best for you as the waiting time for a new heart is 20mins
Not so much a ‘detective’ story
I was really excited for this after duskwood. This game so far, although the chats with characters are good, is lacking the detective element. I don’t feel like I have been given any tasks or have to do any problem solving or investigative work. Just chatting! Which is a shame. Duskwood felt more immersive with real websites and social media accounts etc.
Fun but mini game?
I love these kinds of games, the text and videos, solving the mystery etc however I don’t love the mini game you need to do in order to continue it. Thats not even my biggest concern. It’s more i paid $7.99 to unlock i guess all response options but then you cant skip mini game and get no diamonds.ive been stuck on a mini game forever and $7.99 for an app game is already kind of a lot but then to pay even more for diamonds…im thinking, is the story worth the money? I don’t want to be that person but i guess it just kind of surprised me. Also, using diamonds on skins, frames etc and it’s not even the one you pick, a random one generates so you continue using diamonds until you get the one you want? Feels more like a money grab then care and love put into a game..idk…
Suspenseful
Very gripping. Excellent
Boring
I paid 7 dollars and still they want more money for gems. The mini-games look like a candy crush knock-off and worst of all, I am bored. This game is boring. I paid $7 for trash.
It’s a good game
I think a lot of the reviews for Moonvale are low because people are comparing it to Duskwood. If you played Duskwood when most of the episodes had been released, you’ll get more invested than you would if only the first episode had been out. Moonvale is still a decent game. You can play for free if you want to. If you want the extras you can earn currency with a little patience, or you can buy it. The characters are engaging, and I’m looking forward to the next episode. I would prefer to be able to buy a complete package to access everything, but in my opinion it’s still better than most similar games out there.
Disappointing
After Duskwood, I had high hopes for Moonvale but I should have known better - sequels are rarely as good as the original. The storyline is intriguing, but the gem system renders the game virtually unplayable without spending a small fortune - and that’s just with one chapter available so far! Duskwood will always be one of the best games I’ve ever played but Moonvale just feels hollow in comparison.
Solid Story, Not So Much The Rest Of The Game
I’m going to try and be as nice as I can in this review, because I know Everbyte worked hard on this. Moonvale has a solid plot so far, and it seems interesting. That being said, the game doesn’t nearly as real as Duskwood did. In Duskwood, every character had a profile that you could click on. You saw links to things that they liked, or to their social media accounts. You saw images of them which told you things about their personality. You even had notes. The Duskwood characters felt impeccably real. Duskwood became my comfort game that made me feel better. It was everything I needed. In Moonvale, the characters barely feel real. Not only are the profile pictures AI images, but there is nothing else to the characters. No links, no images…this is all you get. Furthermore, in Duskwood you were able to play all of the mini games until you reached 100%, minimising interruptions. In Moonvale, this isn’t an option. You have to complete the exact amount of mini games they tell you to at a time, meaning interruptions are maximised. I get that this is supposed to echo a real-time game, but it frustrates me to no end because no one in real time is going to be taking a break from a chat for multiple days. In addition, once you have purchased a media file, you cannot access it again. It seems a little ridiculous to me that you spend 19 gems on a picture of an envelope, only to never see it ever again. There is no way that you can access any previous files, which completely ruins the premium choices and makes me not want to spend gems at all. I believe that Everbyte did work very hard on this game, and I can see that from the story. But, I’m going to be honest, they’ve worked hard on so many wrong aspects of the game without bringing back what worked so well in Duskwood. I don’t think I’m going to be connecting with any of these new characters, but I’ll keep playing because I have faith. I’ll also definitely be replaying Duskwood, because it makes me feel so much better than this does.
