I Love The Spiral of Destinies So Far
It is a bit slow to start (to get to the Spiral of Destinies), but once there I got my mind blown. I love the Spiral of Destinies so far, I can’t believe a mobile game is this good. The way the story and gameplay is implemented is awesome, I like that I get to spend a lot of time inside caring for my town and the like with an actual story plot instead of some gacha nonsense story like Fire Emblem Heroes (previous gacha I was invested in, quit about 4 years ago). I wish I could do some kind of upfront payment to support the development of Spiral of Destinies instead of having the game be funded by gacha. The art is also very crisp, I’m a sucker for pixel graphics and the way they’ve implemented the pixel + non-pixel aesthetics is done in a tasteful manner. The characters and designs are likable enough but could use more pizazz. I like that the world is big and full of stories. The music ranges from serviceable to sweet (being upfront, the title theme is the best music in the game). My current main gripe is the music, if it was better across the board my time in the game would be even more immaculate. In my adult life I haven’t played many solo video games for too long. It has been a long time since I’ve been able to say this, but I’m excited to play more of this video game and see where the story goes and be in this world.
Warning: Update 2.10.0 Crashes game client permanently!!
This is an awesome game, but Update 2.10.0 Crashes game client permanently!! Do not update until they fix this.
Too much memory
I want to enjoy this game but the fact that a 2d sprite game takes 10 gigs of storage mostly for fully voiced dialogue and does t give an install option to not have voices at all is a big bummer. I along with plenty of other people don’t mind reading a good story (final fantasy tactics). If I find out there is ever an option to download this game without having to download the voiced audio files I’ll give this game a second chance.
Decent but greedy
drop rate is freaking terrible especially when u pay to play not worth paying for this stupid drop rate!
Takes too long to download/start up
I downloaded and launched it and it’s taking roughly an hour to “update assets”. If it’s worth it in an hour when it’s done I’ll let you know. Worst it can’t do it in the background
Greatest game ever (I wanna pet all the kitties)
I’ve been playing this since it started, and I’m in love with this world. Please, please do not gacha us like some games have done, we pour ourselves into them and then they disappear from our lives with our money and our memories forever (Looking at you FF:Record Keeper and Disney rpgs you know who you are). They’ve given some of us gaming ptsd, afraid to try a new game by them. I’ve cried for these characters, labored, loved. Please never stop this beautiful world, it’s all I have left to escape this angry, ugly Western world. Much love and respect!
I’m done.
I came back to this game. Every day spending time. Working up resources. Spending some money. I’m building up to make a team of new units. Heshan drops, and I’ve been waiting. Over 100 pulls and I lost 2 50s. This game is WORSE than Genshin. I wish I could get my time back… don’t play this game. It will not respect your efforts.
Fantastic Game - But Will Not Play It
This is a fantastic game that looks and feels just like Final Fantasy Tactics of old. However, XD Entertainment Pte LTD is a Singapore company held by XD Entertainment out of China. The data mining and egregious privacy violation is simply not something I can condone. China has been putting some great content out lately. They are doing some great work! But they’re using their good content during a time of western slop in order to harvest data on everyone they can. The PRC is not an entity that can be trusted with personal data. Platforms should prohibit this kind of data privacy intrusion. If this doesn’t matter to you, then enjoy the game. They made it very very good. That’s kind of the point… they know what they’re doing. They know their product is very good.
Not F2P Friendly
That’s the review
Fun yet frustrating
The good: very enjoyable strategy rpg game very much in the vein of Triangle Strategy, with a ton of mileage between the game’s three modes even without spending a cent rolling some gacha. You do have the plethora of new characters to keep the gacha elements making money, however they keep adding in new ways to strengthen your characters and generate resources for free (more time based instead of money). The bad: the bigger bugs (usually fixed quickly) and the smaller bugs (still have some from more than a year ago), the translation quality (sometimes none, just Chinese characters), and dealing with the customer center. Different people have had different issues and I would summarize it as if you feel the game led you to a certain conclusion or assumption, be prepared to get stonewalled instead of helped out, accommodated, or even merely apologized to. In summary: great game, until the moments when you want to ragequit.
Keeps on being fun!
I’ve played this the longest of any mobile game. Great fun and keeps your interest!
It’s pretty greedy
Their pity system is pretty garbage, ensuring that it’s possible to pull 1k USD on a banner, and still not get a banner unit. (Unless it’s the unit debut, so they FOMO you). Recommended action, pass, and play something else.
please improve design for main character
design for female ver is good but male ver is trash sorry to say this but really, all other is absolutely incredible
Eh
The game is fun for the most part, but the gacha ruins it for me. I can’t get any good new units and it takes entirely too long to build up free currency. I left an came back and it’s not improved since launch, and even after spending a good amount I’ve got absolutely nothing to show for it. Okay game but the rates and the gacha aspect kill it for me. Or atleast if they would just add a few more free summons to acquire. I’m more inclined to spend on a game that rewards me. I don’t necessarily want handouts or anything but like Honkai star rail for instance I’ve played for several years non stop. They give ample ways to farm gems and I’m sure they’ve got more money from me than any other game.
Very fun game… but a couple small complaints
So overall the game is very chill and it’s not super hard to get characters you want. The plot is fun and the fighting and strategy aspects are good! The game even offers sigs in the shop for you that you can buy with event currency in groups of 3 with 33% chance each. One complaint is there is no pity or chance balance for the shop. I’ve tried 12 times to get gear from the groups with 66% odds (i want two of three) and only succeeded 3 times. I have gotten 9 dupes of stuff I don’t want and the issue is that the best trinkets are locked behind this mechanic. A lot of people have similar experiences which can be quite frustrating because the event currency is very limited. Other note/complaints: Canned octopus provisions are weirdly skewed over time. You get more then you can use realistically from an event period (many are time limited) and then run dry for quite a while and back and forth. It’s ok in late game when you have enough characters to auto complete with them but inconvenient in early and mid game esp if you join during a drier event time. Can we please please breakdown low level engraving materials? They do nothing once you *can* get legendary engraving material which is pretty plentiful from events and dailies at mid to high level accounts. Expedition game mode runs out of useful rewards after a bit and then it’s just a slog with the occasional astrites. Thankfully it’s not a ton of time but maybe the ability to get stars or medals, not just badges. Could more events become permanent events so we could get plot? Even if most of the rewards are time limited it was really nice to be able to do old events for context.
Fun
I have been really enjoying this game since download. I love the gacha phone game mode but it also has story modes where you build up your team from the story or you can use your gacha characters as well. I love the diversity that is all in one game not to mention the voice acting (from the Japanese actors haven’t heard the other ones.) is incredible and that art is very good. I haven’t played a lot of games for years let alone phone games but this is taking up a lot of my time because it’s very fun.
Cant even start it
Unable to obtain version info. Just installed and am on wifi. Iphone 17. Agreed to the EULA/age verification, then it stops at “unable to obtain version info”. So unplayable.
Too big
I played this game in the past and really enjoyed it, I redownloaded to have some fun again and after realizing it’s over 9 gigs! I had to delete it. Good game over all but make sure you have the space for it!
Stage 2-16 is bugged
This game is definitely worth 5 stars! I’m only putting 2 for the devs to see the issue ♥️. When you try to progress the story it just shuts down the app. You can make it all the way to the end of the cinematic, then as it fades out it shuts down the app. Please fix.
Good game but no English voice support
Great gatcha game but it gets tedious and repetitive after a while. Also, the Chinese voice acting upon using character skills and after winning a match is nice, but I can’t understand what they’re saying and there’s no subtitles.
Fantastic. Two years daily play.
Great game. Great devs. Very small spender friendly.
No offline mode
Requires constant internet connection - no bueno
Can’t play?
I can’t seem to get past the initial update phase? It won’t download the additional data to begin the game.
Banner Drop Rate is Cute
80 Summons on Geralt banner on the Witcher 3 Collab and yet haven’t got him(This is only the REASON I came back to the game) instead I got 2 Yennefers’. Like WTF? What’s the point of the banner if I get another collab character besides the character specific banner(I thought the game news said to divide the 4 characters into 4 separate banners and yet this BS happens). Out of all the gachas I played, this banner pull is BS. And the Game also needs an optimization, ingame loading screens are slow when going to other parts of the game.
Worth a Try
Modest character designs, ACTUAL tactical battles, and decent writing elevate this gacha game, but the multiple story modes and branching timelines make it hard to stay invested.
A beautiful game
A tactics game with pixel graphics, a JRPG-esque story, and an OST by the music composer of Final Fantasy Tactics and Final Fantasy XII. What more can I say?
Letdown for tactical RPG fans
I tried so hard to like this but it’s really just another poorly made mobile game. Many of the game modes are unfun, the UI is pretty bad, the app crashes too often, and it has the unfortunate gacha trope of screwing you on RNG even when you hoard resources. Never worth paying for, and in the end not worth your time even when you’re a fanatic for these types of games.
啊 游戏不错但是人太少啦!
呃
Gameplay is fun but…
Turns out it’s a gatcha game, very disappointing, this could of been a potentially great game on par with epics like Final fantasy tactics and tactics ogre, but it’s just another “daily check in” cash shop micro transaction gatcha game. Very lame
Too Much.
Sword of Convallaria is a good game. Characters and story is great. Honestly, if the characters were more complex than “Haha, I’m actually really sad.” I’d be more compelled to play. A very critical reason why I cannot say I like this game is the fact there is WAY TOO MUCH to do. There’s multiple unfun battles to grind just to keep going. Story mode isn’t fun either because 9 times out of 10 you over power the enemy or there’s just a sudden difficulty spike. There’s no rush I get out of fighting in this game because there’s little to no stakes involved. The game feels generic and actually takes bigger bites out of my battery than Limbus company.
What a Gem!
Top of the genre for SRPGs!
Overcharged
I spent .99 cents why was I charged 5.34$
I love this game
Amazing game!
Too bad it’s Gacha
Same problem as the official FFT mobile, why make it a predatory gacha system; Could’ve been amazing.
Good, but I quit out of boredom.
I was having a great time playing the game at first! However, once I reached level 60 (the maximum level), I lost all my motivation. It felt like I had spent all my time and energy grinding, only to hit a wall with battles that required pre-made teams, which didn't take into account my progress and grinding. Additionally, some battles had single solutions that I had to search for on YouTube videos to complete, which was frustrating.
Amazing game!
I am probably not the first to say this, but this is one of, if not the best mobile games ever. The story is extremely captivating, and it doesn’t feel detached. The decisions you make have consequences. You cry for the characters as the follow you into death or into victory. The story of this game shows the stories of refugees hurt by war, the motivations behind large political bodies, the tragedy of death and it’s a story that I have spent hours immersed in. The story isn’t the only part of the game though, there’s also a multiplayer aspect with the guilds and clash, upgrading your characters isn’t time consuming and boring, and though the game can feel grindy at times, it feels worth it. I also like how there are no ads. I have not encountered any advertisements playing this game, which is a breath of fresh air in a sea of mobile games throwing ads at you every minute. I also like the necessity, or rather the lack there of for micro transactions. You can play this game and enjoy it to the fullest extent without paying a single cent, and I’ve heard from friends that play this game that even the PvP system in this game doesn’t require micro transactions in order to be good. I imagine that it would help some, but I have a friend that says the only thing he bought was a skin and a guaranteed pull for a certain character, and he has one of the top guilds in the game. The best part of the game though is by far the story. I love so many of the characters and I love that there are characters that I absolutely hate. I believe that these stories actually have lessons to gain, and they are incredibly well written. One of the first things that was really put into perspective for me was the Papal States of Rodinia. The continent is called Rodinia, and there is a country called the Papal States or Rodinia in the country, and characters from the Papal States often refer to themselves as Rodinians, even though everyone is Rodinian. It reminds me of how in the United States we call ourselves “Americans” even though everyone from the Americas is American. It’s also a very beautiful game, especially for one with a pixelated, retro style. It does a really good job of blending 2d and 3d to the point where I didn’t realize there was actually 3d parts up until very recently. Literally the only thing that I’m not incredibly blown away by in this game is the voice acting. It doesn’t have English voice acting, which honestly is fine, I normally pick the original language of the game when there is voice acting rather than just English, and I find the voice acting to be a little over the top and unrealistic for the setting, however the voice acting is by no means bad, it’s actually really, really good again especially for a mobile game, it just feels out of place sometimes. Not the cat though, the cat’s voice doesn’t feel out of place even though she doesn’t have realistic voice acting either, mainly because she’s not human. I like that she says “meow” after each sentence, at least in the Japanese voice over, while it’s not represented in the subtitles I think it’s really charming. Overall one of the best games I think I have ever played, and I recommend it for anyone and everyone, it’s absolutely insane that this game isn’t more popular.
Doesn’t work
It just freezes.
Typical gacha.
I really enjoyed the game. But unfortunately it’s starting to become a waifu collector. Just like most gacha games. I need more balance between make to female ratio.
Poor man’s Fire Emblem
The graphics and character design for this game is a bit take-or-leave for me. I would’ve appreciated if this game were 3d but whatever. Not my aesthetic to be honest. Also wasn’t I supposed to get a Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, new IPhone, and a MacBook or was that another game? I don’t know but it seems like it due to the supposedly cheap outsourced advertising I saw on YouTube which were pretty awful compared to the actual game. Also there’s this sexy fox lady I summoned that I wish was in a non-pixelated game like this so I could see her better. Overall, this game is hard for me to recommend. Probably because I’ve seen better games and other reviews say that they have various issues with it. I would prefer your ads away from my online feed unless you have something better to offer so just be glad that I tried your game, please and thanks.
不友好
不是個友好的遊戲,可以玩,但不值得課金。
Rich complex narrative and amazing gameplay
This game rivals final fantasy tactics and tactics ogre as far as the story writing and gameplay is concerned. The gacha feels generous, too.
Ridiculous
The amount of hand holding and restrictive gameplay is frustrating. 20 minutes in and I’m just clicking through dialog boxes trying to get to a point where it’s an actual game
Great Game
Like the strategy / gatcha style game. It might be better to give the player an action wheel or just change the combat style closer to Fire Emblem Heroes.
Not bad but....
Endurance recharge is too slow! It takes one full day to recharge full endurance. This badly affects gaming time and slowly losing interest.... Summon rate is very bad as Legendary is almost non existent and even Gold is extremely rare. Most of the time only get silver & bronze. I don't think I will be playing this for a long time as new games with better rates and available for longer playtime will definitely replace this one. A good game brought down by developers who wants paying players only....
Hi
Fun game
Truly a game
This feels like an actual game in a phone, something that really draws you into the game and the story and only thing frustrates me is i found this gem so late
Can’t connect to server!
I tried everything but it won’t work!
Really good free game but a little pricey
We can see that the producer of this game put a lot of time into the graphic, gameplay and story for this game. The only downside is the the price if you want to support the producer is a little to high. But you can still enjoy the game without it.
Endless cutscenes and auto mode
I am a fan of games where I actually need to play. In this game you just turn on auto and the thing plays itself and you are “victorious”. The only reason you need to touch the iPad is to constantly move through incredibly frequent cutscenes (before battles, during battles, during battles again, after battles, between battles… ugh). You are constantly just clicking where you are told. Even after an hour of play you are still being given tutorial tips. It is a shame that such nice art and combat systems were not backed up by a game that actually requires you to be involved. Why would I want a game that plays itself? Disappointing.
