Waste of money
Absolute waste of money. No free trial so you have to pay to even try it, and it’s nothing the free version of 18 birdies won’t tell you
Courses don’t have everything marked but….
The app takes some getting used to but it is a great concept and I will imagine everything will get better with time. The courses aren’t necessarily preloaded with out of bounds/tree areas so you have to do them yourself at times.
It has potential.
The app concept and stats have great potential. But it is let down massively with the user experience and the user interface. Editing a round/shots is painfully clunky. Adding shots and penalties has to be done in a certain lengthy sequence. There are way too many interactions with the app, both during and after the round which takes focus away from the game. I have noted that the stats can be wrong on occasion (-1.17 shots for a stroke and distance penalty, it should be -2). I did reach out to Shot Pattern with these issues and some ideas several months ago but nothing seems to have been implemented. For a paid app of significant cost per year, I really expect better. Response to developer: My app is up to date and using Apple Watch to automatically track shots. So I’d say it’s the current system I’m using (not the old). I have definitely selected the correct “stroke and distance” penalty. I have a screen shot I can fire over to show.

Best Golf App
Basic features are free and they are easy to use. Graphics especially 3D are awesome for planning rounds for new courses or even the ones you frequent.
Not Simple…sorry
I find this app helpful but so damn difficult to manage. It provides good data about my shots that is true. However, the “simple” interface is not simple. I find the ability to mark my starting location and aim point and then mark my shot final location frigging impossible to do consistently. I mash a button combination one way and it works then I scre up and hit something else by mistake and I’m now in an interface where I have to guess where I am on the course re enter my club, etc etc… I have been called out by my Friends for taking too long on the course to hit a ball ( cause I find myself somewhere I’m not expecting to be) I have horrible shots in my dispersion data that I really don’t want. It very well could me a me issue. I feel you need to know that the app is good but it is not simple, quick, or super easy.
Good app. Few suggestions
Really like this and usually refer to when playing, but mostly do after round entry. Can you guys add the ability to save Driving Targets for course you play often? Entry would Be much easier if my driving targets were already set.
Close but not there yet.
I specifically downloaded this app to look at sg for upcoming courses. It’s not basing the sg off of actual data, but an algorithm based on distance - which is kinda helpful but can’t answer the critical question of whether it’s worth taking on risk or not. For example, if you go left and are blocked out by trees, it may still show a positive sg because you’re closer to the hole. Simply being closer to a hole is not enough.
Doesn’t work at certain times
Doesn’t work late in the evening. Not great if you want to preview the course you are playing the next day the night before because if just says searching for courses or doesn’t give you options of tee boxes.
Five Stars for a reason
I’ve used Shot Pattern for a few years now. The app was good to start with and has only continued to improve. There are constantly new additions and improvements made, and it is very simple and intuitive to use. Support was also extremely responsive and resolved the only glitch I’ve encountered very quickly. Overall, I would highly recommend Shot Pattern to any serious player looking to meaningfully track their progress and practice needs.

What a waste of time.
Good idea, but …
The ability to view shot dispersion data by club and distance is really great, but unfortunately the app lacks much of what you can get from other apps such as the Grint. Combining these would be a real win, but until then you need more than just this app. Whoever does it all will win the market.
First time using.
As the title. I tried SP for the first time today, out on the course. I found it very complicated and time consuming to use. Bear in mind I primarily use though my watch (Apple watch Ultra). It seemed very fiddly to get to enter a score and move to the next hole. Maybe I need some more time with it. But for now, I’ll be using golf shot.
Stats/analytics are lacking
The shot/round tracking is solid. I do not like the stats and analytics. Mark Broadie or Scott Fawcett apps are much better for stats.
The best gps app
There’s simply nothing on the market that remotely compares to this app from a course management and functionality standpoint. I never play a round of golf without it.
To short of a trial period to expensive
One week or one round of golf is not enough time to get a feel for this app. If they really believes in the app they would offer 60 days (allow for multiple rounds of golfs). If it was that good everyone would then pay the $100 bucks a year for it.
Clunky but has potential
I’m rating it 2 based on value. It’s a decent app and has some high points, but unfortunately compared to other gps apps with shot tracking in its price range of $100/yr it falls well short in features, functionality and interface. The biggest downside is that for an app with automatic shot detection it just requires too much editing and adjustment at the end of the round and since there’s no way to enter a score, you must go through every shot to ensure accuracy.
Good but Frustrating
Former myRoundPro TaylorMade app until they dropped the advanced tracking and club stats. Shot Pattern basically has all the same and perhaps a few more stats. BUT the interface to enter shots is clunky at best and with no way to edit holes and missed tracks along the way it is almost not worth the time. Should just have a single button to track where shot was taken from and next point is where it ended…but no. You have to enter every start and end of every shot…so double the amount of clicks as the competition. The aim v result is okay but most decent golfers aim for landing point not where the ball ends up which skews the dispersion data and stats. It’s almost like the makers of this app are NOT avid golfers. With a few major improvements it might be worth the $130 annual. Right now save you $ maybe $12 annual at best right now.
Beneficial to Improving
I started using the app as a low single-digit handicap. The more data I entered, the more informed I became at preparing for a round - on both my home course and any other course. The latest updates in the statistics area have been game changers for me. They have shown me what area(s) of my game I need to focus on to improve even further. The app will help you!
$99 to sample what a joke
Some of these companies greed is their motto. This is clearly one of those. We want to force you to sign up and give us your information. Go through this process and then guess what you can’t even try it out until you give us 99 bucks.
Sync with watch
If I could get it to sync with my watch while I’m playing, this app would be the best out there. However, even though I paid for this one, I go back to my free app because it’s so much easier to use. Get shot tracking actually working on a watch and you e got me.
Good idea, but poor execution
The idea of this app is great. I am really looking for areas to improve my game and really get a better sense of what my biggest faults are and my strengths. I’m also in general a high handicap so most other apps compare you to scratch golfers or pros which isn’t helpful at all. So the idea of using my game data to figure this out was really appealing. However, actually using the app during a round is just an exercise in frustration. I tried the one week free trial and got 45 holes in before just giving up on it and going back to GolfShot. The first round I tried it out on was a complete mess. I ended up deleting it because I missed so many shots on the course trying to figure out how to use it. I found myself more frustrated with the experience of using the app that it took me away from the actual game. So I went back and looked at the tutorials to understand how the designers expected me to use it. I then tried it on again on 9 holes and still found myself struggling with its usability. I did one more round of 18 before calling it quits. Things it does well 1. Setting your target handicap for improvements 2. Importing shot data from trackers, this is a great way to get started with populating data for your first time out. 3. Giving you a clear understanding of what you’re doing well. Turns out my lack of distance off the tee and dispersion isn’t my main reason for losing strokes. 4. Course previews and overlays of shot data is useful. Some Of my issues: 1. You can’t just input your score on a hole, you have to go and make sure all your chips and putts are accounted for. Which means you’re either doing this on the green or on the next tee and slowing down everything. The faqs say you can do this after your off the green to save time, but it’s so cumbersome on the app that you end up fighting with your location at the time, trying to figure out where your ball was in relation to green, moving the map around. And since you can just leave your score for each hole, you either have to keep track on another app of a real scorecard and then go back to the app after your round. So your juggling two things at once while trying to concentrate on your game. 2. The watch features and app features don’t line up. You should be able to select your club and track from your watch but the only thing you can do ‘mark location’ which forces you to go back at the end of the round and fill in all the blanks. So your either pulling out your phone on every shot to put in your aim line, club selection, and mark the tracking info or trying to remember what you were doing on hole 3 after you’ve already played 18. 3. I really just felt that the whole app experience just slowed me down, frustrated me and took me out of the game I was trying to play. If your willing to be patient with it and have a whole lot of time on the course with out playing partners or people behind you, maybe this app would work out for you but realistically it just wasn’t for me.
Best App for Golf Software for Prep and Strategy
The iPhone app is incredibly paired with the Mac is the best software you can use for prep for tournaments and rounds.
Just data collectors
Reviews are most likely employees, try to delete and it says error , so I’m sure the fact you have to sign up before they hit you with a $100 price tag then can’t delete assures it 100% intentionally set up this way to scam data…
Cool concept but too pricey
$130 per year is a crazy figure to charge for a subscription. I could see maybe a $10-$20 up front price, but there is nothing in this app that justifies the premium subscription. I like the idea of having the strokes gained counter, but pretty much every other feature I saw could be had for free on the Grint or 18Birdies
Doesn’t work 30% of time
This app actually changed the way I golf forever, at first. I’m a premium member—however I’ve grown to a point of frustration and haven’t used the app for 2 straight rounds now. The reason why? The dang thing will not load properly…. Half the time I’ll open it and it tells me to “Subscribe for premium features”… which I already have. The other half the time, the GPS will not track properly and will show the hole in an obscure orientation that doesn’t match reality. Very very glitchy…and honestly I’ve been frustrated with the app enough times to feel like I want a refund for my premium membership.
Continues to improve
So many apps just kind of stall after a couple of updates, but Shot Pattern continues to add value with regular updates that improve user experience.
No courses
recently downloaded and upon trying to search up my course, it says that there are no courses with that name with whatever i search including many of my home courses and even popular courses in the uk like the belfry still not appearing
Excellent SG Concept But Missed Out on GPS Shots Tracking Functionality
I went ahead and subscribed to the App because of its novel approach to Shot Gain strategy. On the graphics and Caddie preview to strategize and plan your golf round, it’s one of the better golf apps out there. I love the fact that the App has the ability to import data from other sources, i.e., other golf app data or data from launch monitor. What could make this app and SG functionality to stand out even more is to use club distance data, coupled with dispersion to suggest optimal target location for best SG result during Caddie Preview of a course. Regarding the GPS shot tracking functionality during in play, this App fails majorly in terms of ease of use and intuitiveness. The process flow is poorly thought out. I had given this app a few chances but each time I tried, I was left with more frustration than enjoyment. Maybe I need to watch the instructional videos again but it is too time consuming to enter shots for tracking, making the user spend more time on the App than actually playing golf. Here is the process flow I would have thought/imagined: on Hole #1 tee, using the App to gage my targets, set target areas for the entire hole. Hit shot. Upon arriving to my ball, I view the App for distance and previously established target for my next shot and to track my previous shot by a single click of a button with only a sub-choice to select which club. GPS should be able to determine if I am in the fairway, rough, or bunker. That should be all it! Repeat. Overall, this App has great potential but focus should be placed on primary functionality of the app, which is SG strategy. If shot tracking is an added functionality, it must be done with ease of use and purpose in mind otherwise it would fall short just like every other apps out there. Bigger question is how will the collected data be used in future features? I will wait out on renewing until this is improved.
Snow covered
I like the app but every course I play is snow covered in the App. I can’t tell if I’m putting my ball on the green or sand trap. I can’t purchase until that is fixed.
Best golf GPS app by far
Shot Pattern strikes the perfect balance of being full featured and extremely simple, smooth, intuitive, and easy to use. My favorite app on my phone!
Need improvement
Maybe I missed it in the setting but I don’t like moving my finger left and the screen move to the right. At my home course, #2 has woods I can reach with a driver, and I alway lay up to prevent rolling into OB. The app still showed driving into the woods as a positive strokes gained decision. That made me question using it during a round.
This rating is for subscription value only — round entry has too many critical bugs
I’m a paid user of the app. The ability to preview rounds and easily select targets and choose clubs is awesome. By itself, that makes the app worth having. But I got a paid sub so that I could enter my rounds and track my strokes gained. I waited until the GPS tracking was available, as I didn’t want to manually record everything (which the app DOES make quite easy, btw). The live round entry is a nightmare due to the existing bugs. For example, after tracking the first shot, when I change the flag position (once I’m close enough to actually see the green), sometimes the option to track shot #2 disappears. So I have to exit my round and come back to edit an existing round. That wouldn’t be a deal breaker except that occasionally, ~HALF OF THE SHOTS I PREVIOUSLY ENTERED HAVE NOW DISAPPEARED. Gone. As in, I’ll have gotten a par, but now shots 2 and 4 are just gone, while the app still shows shots 1 and 3, and has marked me down for an eagle. This has happened repeatedly, including AFTER finalizing a round and going back to edit a single hole. This is extremely frustrating, and for me, makes the app unusable for live round entry. There are other smaller bugs as well, but nothing near as bad as just losing/deleting shot data randomly. I’m a technical PM so I’m familiar with the challenges of building software and handling non-happy path edge cases, but these are critical failures. This app simply needs more testing (and subsequent bug fixes) before it’s ready for primetime. It’s capable of being quite good.

Only worth a tenth if subscribtion based or a one time payment of anual fee. Should not be subscription based. Cant do sorry for an app I seldomly use.
Excellent Game Improvement Tool
This app is excellent for anyone trying to take their golf game to the next level. It does take a few minutes after a round to enter your shots. The amount of data you get about your rounds is very helpful to focusing your practice.
Impossible to cancel
They make it very difficult to cancel this app and that’s not cool to be sneaky.

This is the best stat tracker on the market and its not close. I’ve tried so many. Yes it has GPS and you can use your phone every shot but for players like me I want to input the round later——and this is perfect for that. Truly the best golf app on market in my opinion.
Set up doesn’t fit all golfers
I drive 280-300 yards and hit 10-11 fairways. But my GIR stinks at 4-7 per round. Your set up doesn’t fit my game…. So i deleted it while setting up
