Ugly Game
Ugly cheap looking game typical of the poor quality Apple Arcade gives us. Terrible tutorial that left me with no idea how to play. Deleted game.

Rest in peace, Sega Classics, sonic two and one in the rest of my favorite Genesis remix are gone. Please bring them back and bring your games to your studio so they can know they’re saying good games. We love you, Sega.

Interface is a Nightmare
Basically impossible to just play a game. There’s a million options and it take five minutes to play anything. Don’t waste your time on this one.
Love the game, but excessive loading kills the fun
I love playing Puyo Puyo Tetris on our Switch, so when I saw this on my phone, I thought, now this is a way to practice making chains on my own and surprise-beat my family the next time we play on the switch. I wasn’t wrong, and it is fun when you are not interrupted. Whenever you change focus away from his game to answer a text or whatnot, however, even for a minute, it decides to reload, and it has about eight screens it makes you look at or select something on to get you back to where you were. There does not seem to be a way to save your state, so you just lose the whole match and you start all over again at the beginning loading screen whenever you come back to the app. Very annoying.
Great game, broken controller support on Mac
Excellent entry- effectively a successor to Puyo Puyo 15th/20th anniversary and Puyo Puyo Chronicle. It’s an uncompromised experience, aside from the small pool of online players. However, the Mac version in particular suffers quite a bit— I was only able to get DualSense controllers to work. Xbox controllers, Nintendo Switch controllers, and even DualSense Edge controllers don’t seem to be recognized by the game.

(Continuing where I left off: 😅) 3. The characters, I LOVE the level mechanic for the CPUs, I main Arle cause I’m a beginner first joined on April yadda yadda all that stuff, I am planning to change my Puyo card character from amitie to Arle when I have enough Puyo points and all! I Absolutely recommend if you’re pro go for Yu and rei, they have such a sad backstory and how they become ghosts, but they ARE a duo, so yeah! 4. Teams, I absolutely LOVE when I bunch up with Yu and rei on the red team (team heart, that is), but it’s kinda disappointing since Yu (see what I did there?) can only do it with 3 or 4 players, other than that I recommend it for if you’re a multiplayer expert whatnot :P 5. Icon, icon, icon, icon, you can customize your icon, your icon will show up in battles, your icon is EVERYTHING, it represents who you are in the game, you could have it be Yu and rei and have it all purple, or you could have Arle from Puyo puyo quest and make the icon red for the backround and purple for the border, like I have, I absolutely recommend you go carbuncle with your icon and make it yellow cause you’re the KING/QUEEN of Puyo puyo, you deserve it!

It is a great game but it is so so hard. It would be nice if there were even more helper options and super slow options etc.

The base game is great but the online mode seems to be just bots so that knocks it down a peg
Incomprehensible interface
Seems like the core gameplay would be fun, but the menu system should be scrapped and completely started over with an actual UX designer at the helm. Perhaps people who have played this franchise on other devices can make sense of what’s going on, but it seems like almost no thought was given to making the initial startup - before gameplay tutorials- make any sense at all. Why are save banks even a thing on a smartphone? Why is a vertical stacking game only available to play in landscape orientation? Why did I have to click through at least 5 layers of menus to start a regular game, but still there was no explanation of different gameplay modes? I have no idea what I was doing but somehow got it to play the game, but the overall experience was so frustrating I gave up. It’s so frustrating when two giant corporations with huge numbers of employees combine forces to produce a result that seems to have had absolutely no human thought put into how the basic gameplay experience will work for an actual user on an actual device. Judging by other reviewers it seems a good number of people love this franchise, it seems the desire for corporate synergy and reaching new audiences was met with no resources to actually make this implementation work.

this is the best modern puyo game out right now
i bought apple arcade just to try this game out for a month. this is genuinely the best puyo game we've gotten since 20th anniversary all the way back in 2012. it is actually such a shame that sega put this on a SUBSCRIPTION SERVICE because this game is genuinely so good.
Unbearable, deleting after 5 minutes
Typical condescending Apple interface. Immediately offputting orientation lock, shoehorned in CPU opponents instead of true single player mode and of course, a $6.99 monthly fee instead of being allowed to ever own anything anymore. I don’t want to hold my phone sideways. Everything about the controls was unpleasant, horrible feel to the tapping input. Get it off my screen.

In photo mode, you said that you can create your own Puyo Battle stories! But I don’t see the feature of dialogue. Please add it!

5 minutes of instructions and cut scenes and all this junk you have to go through to play the game. It gets so old when developers do this. Just let me play. Instantly.

通信が切れすぎて遊びづらい。ルームナンバー7桁は多すぎ。操作もデフォルトがスライドなのでぷよぷよが滑りまくり。ボタンはあるけどフリックはないっていうのが意味不明

I'm a big time puyo fan ever since childhood and this is by far one of the most amazingly crafted games that I have played in this franchise. Sure, the assets are reused and the translation is giving but overall the game itself is a ton of fun to play with a new overhaul of the menu, UI and the story. That being said, having an apple arcade exclusive puyo title is sad as it alieniates part of the fanbase that enjoys puyo but doesn't have access to apple. The online mode also is pretty barren as I've so far only faced off against bots. It's a bit of a shame as this does have great potential but having it locked behind a subscription limits where this game and the franchise as a whole can go.
Missing Gameplay Aspects
I’ve been a Puyopuyo fan since I lived as an overseas student in the 90s, wishing it would one day get some love here in the US. Finally, it happens, but one thing I loved from older Puyo games are the special attacks each character had that made each of their playing styles unique and fun to use. Right now it’s just a different form of match 4 vs. AI atm. Just not as engaging as past versions of the game were.
Middling version of Puyo
Having played Puyo Puyo on countless platforms it's nice, in theory, to have this in my pocket. Except the implementation is rather weak and should have been better. The game is landscape mode only, which makes sense for most games, but not so much the blocks fall into a tall thin column type games. I get that I'm playing against an opponent, but their window could be greatly reduced in size or just disabled. Even on an iPad the size of actual part area is weirdly tiny. Give me the option, honestly I don't care what the CPU's play area looks like. Then there are the controls. I wasn't expecting much from touch screen controls for this and that's what I got. They're imprecise and difficult to use. The rest of the game is typical modern Puyo Puyo, such is to say pretty vapid and lacking the charm of the older games. At least some of the original tunes are in here.

What’s the point of this game? If only one person can play it in the room on your Apple TV.? The rest of my family just has to sit around and watch me? or I have to ask them to use their 5 inch screens to play (shareplay) while we have a 100 inch screen in our living room for us all to share.
Everything is nice except for the fact that it’s about losing
When I first tried endless, It was so nice but in Puyo Puyo 2, it was so rigged but I also like the fact that it has no ads. NONE! So no 5 star 4 u until u fix the rigged Puyo Puyo 2.

Was hoping to give them game a better rating But I’m seeing no translation found everywhere in the game and it’s really annoying because it gets in the way of enjoying the game Because I’ve played a bit and it’s fun and interesting Just would be better if the issue was fixed

Can’t work out how to rotate in game play!!
I’m not using a controller and I can’t work out how to rotate in game play doesn’t seem to matter where I tap. Sometimes it randomly works but I can’t work out how I’m doing it! I’ve done the teach 3 times now but it’s different in game play 🙄. The cuts scenes in story mode also seem to be quite long but I haven’t really been able to get into it as I can’t work out the basic controls will probably just delete again.
Fun to play, but has a few flaws
I love the Puyo series, it’s kind of the hidden gem of SEGA games. This game was fun and not too hard to get a hang of, but seriously, Apple Arcade? If you’re trying to expand the series to a western audience, it shouldn’t be gate-kept by a subscription! edit July 21: Can you please add Sticker / Request of Puyo Puyo? That song is a banger!
What a waste
Tiny play area! Why??? Play area is maybe 20% of the screen. Annoying story with awful voices For all female character select at start! Multiplayer will not find games ever and is clearly broken. Controls are terrible
I’m changing my views after finishing the game
Reminds me of PPT2, lacking in story and lazy in gameplay. Although I enjoy the modes like dig and quartet, the game just isn’t giving. It’s also just a tiny little cash grab for them (not literally). It should’ve been a paid title on console so we could have more. Hopefully they are working on more for the franchise but it’s been lacking for the past 2 titles. Shame :(

I dislike tetris so an on the go english tetrisless Puyo game is great. Also, Carbuncle is funny.
Awful
After waiting through what felt like hours of pointless animations and story, it finally lets you play, but the game is basically garbage. Horrible controls and terrible use of screen space. Astonishingly bad.

Translation issue
I crony know what to press because every option says “No Translation” or No Translation Found” and it is constant, and is everywhere, where there’s text.
Ok but very hard
The game is ok but it gets hard very fast. I even fought the cpu on the easiest difficulty and it’s still frustrating to play. The tutorial only teaches you combos but not to actually play the game more effectively. Easy to understand but very hard to play.
Kirby’s Avalanche
Dr Robotnik’s Mean Bean Machine is so awesome and so cool, I love it and so do my grandkids. Five stars all around!!
Garbage
There might be some gameplay in there somewhere but darned if I could find it. Yet another game where you just end up tapping speech bubbles to make them disappear as the cutesy characters spout baby speak gibberish. I gave up after a couple of minutes. Looks like it might be a bejewelled clone type of thing.

Impossible to control
Tapping on your own columns don’t control the puyos, I have to rotate on the competitors screen to get mine to move. Disappointing.
Puyo Puyo on a phone without portrait mode is kind of a waste
Not a bad Puyo Puyo game, but the face you have to play it with your phone in landscape is kind of disappointing. The game board would lend itself well to portrait play, even if it was just in a specific non-vs mode.
