The best way to create
MindNode helps me generate thoughts about everything from work projects, creative projects, presentations, major-problem-solving (I love the AI generation of content, which often can get me started, by the way!), and much more. The design is stellar, and there is everything at your fingertips to get your ideas out, organized, and beautifully rendered. Also, I love the ability to export tasks to my task manager, so that I can do the thinking once, and then start to act on the items in the app of my choosing. Did I mention the Apple Watch app, too? It is so handy when you have created a packing list and want to reference it as you roam around the house, packing and ticking off task items in MindNode for Apple Watch. Ideas on Canvas care, have a standard of excellent, and are around for the long haul. Get MindNode – you will be happy you did! well worth the subscription price, every penny of it.
Strict Auto-Layout ruined this app

Excellent Mind Mapping - Preferred the “Pro” version
I’ve used this as my default note-taking tool for many years. I preferred the recent “MindNode Pro” version because it felt more professional - it was easy to create a condensed view of a map, and you could quickly change the color of a branch to highlight categories. In general, this new version feels more cartoonish and creates maps that are harder to work with on a laptop. I’m also really not interested in the AI features. I don’t need the mind map to brainstorm for me - that’s literally why I bought a mind map tool in the first place. Good product, I’ll still use it, but I’ll stick with Pro as long as it’s supported. If they come out with a feature by feature equivalent that works on Apple silicon, I’ll use that instead.
I am moving on
How can an App get worse over time? As a user over several years, I’ve noticed its evolving with trends (cloud only storage - bad move!). It’s not evolving with user needs. MORE IS LESS..
Freehand Abridged
The new limited freehand mode is killing me. Need the ability to move nodes anywhere without having to hold down the option key, and continue to fight with the built in node spacing. I am done fighting….I can’t even move my nodes in outline anymore to the sequence needed to reset. A very long outline is useless now. Export to textile and start over in a tool that gives me freeform layout. Ugh.

Please add a lock node feature to prevent nodes from being edited or deleted unintentionally.
Too expensive
I downloaded this years ago to play around with it but never used it. Now that I’ve learned about mind mapping and effective study habits, I decided to give it a shot. However, paying 24.99 a year to JUST change the font? Absolutely ridiculous. Going with Simplemind instead since it’s a one time purchase.

한글 폰트 지원
기존에 클래식 버전에세는 한글 서체 지원이 돼서 폰트 적용해서 정리하기 좋았는데 넥스트 버전에서는 적용이 안돼서 아쉬워요. 적용 가능할 수 있게 업데이트 해주시면 감사하겠습니다. 다른 건 다 좋아요!
A Great App….but
Mind Node is fantastic app. The interface is clean. The controls are intuitive. It is a great tool for getting your thoughts quickly down on “paper” and then dragging and dropping them into a better order. After iThoughts went away, it’s probably the best mind mapping tool out there, and I have tried them all. With that said, it could be even better with a few tweaks. In particular, I would love to see the developers add a bracketing function to link several siblings together, labeling them with a common thought or them. Xmind has this function (Called: Summary), and although I much prefer the look and feel of MindNode, this one improvement would be a game changer. Although I much prefer working with MindNode, Xmind also has the ability to put a labeled container around several nodes, which is also a very useful function for grouping ideas. Put those two features in an it would be a 5 star app. Another good feature, which iThoughts had is the ability to tout the cursor ein the middle of a long node, with the return or TAB button make a new sibling or child with the text to the right of the cursor. You can accomplish the same thing with cut/paste, but the extra steps this involves is a little frustrating.
Mapping Elegance
I’ve used MindNode since 2011. Have investigated many other mapping apps since (mostly to advise my unfortunate Windows users) but none match MindNode’s elegance and ease of use. New sharing features have proven a bit quirky to implement. Still wish I could share maps with their text notes appended to map elements. But these weaknesses aside, MindNode stands as my goto mapping tool for all sorts of projects and analysis.
Disappeared
Mind map I was working on just completely disappeared suddenly and can’t find it anywhere. Very disappointed because I liked this app but the work I put in for hours is just gone.

제발 텍스트 세부 편집 가능하게 해주세요. 지금 서체 변경과 폰트 크기 변경도 너무 불편하구요, 글씨에 하이라이트 효과를 줘서 중요한 것들은 바로 눈에 띄게 해줬으면 좋겠어요. 그리고 연결선 추가 말고도, 여러 마디 갈래들이 결국 하나의 마디로도 연결 될 수 있게 해주세요. 이거 두개만 되면 진심 평생 구독할듯. 요구사항 1. 서체 편집 더 편하게 - 서체 변경 - 폰트 크기 조절 2. 중요한 글씨 하이라이팅 3. 여러 갈래 마디 -> 한 마디로 연결 되도록
Grid Frustrations.
No option to turn off this snap to grid feature. And zoom feature seems to only be zoom all the way in, or all the way out. As is, moving nodes around moves other nodes and this is very frustrating. Someone enlighten me or please devs, fix this.
Good, if your willing to pay
When I first got onto mind node I was exited. As I started looking around the app I realized that all of the features I liked were not a free thing. Since this is true I switched to XMind because of all of the features.
Mind Node is Part of My External Brain
This app really helps me better understand complex concepts, especially how myriad and subtle ideas relate to each other. I look forward trying out the brainstorming features. Mind Node, Obsidian, DevonThink, and IA Writer have become my go to apps.

아마 마인드맵 개념에 충실한 몇 안되는 앱 중 하나라고 생각합니다. 그런데 메일로 한 번 건의드린 것처럼, 글자크기도 중심노드에서 멀어질수록 차등적용되면 좋겠습니다. 그게 기본개념이기도하고, 글자크기도 노드 간의 중요성을 나타내는 요소 중 하나라고 생각하기 때문입니다. 그리고 테마가 너무 몇 가지 안되서 다양했으면 좋을 것 같아요.
Why did you break this fine tool?
Why did you break this fine tool? Why did you make it hard to go back to the version of the tool I’ve relied on for years? Why have I wasted ½ an hour right before a meeting in which I could’ve used a MindNode (Classic … is it?) to help explain why there’s a better way to go on the project? Why have I abandoned preparing for that meeting to complain that you broke one the most elegant tools in my kit, leaving me feeling betrayed, like showing up to find the locks were changed over the weekend. I don’t have time to track down *Classic* before my meeting; I only have time to scream *Argh!* (Is that the sense of delight you sought to create in longtime users?)
App is Excellent—Has Fatal Flaw
MindNode no longer uses iCloud Drive for its file storage. The app has its own sandbox, and for me that is a complete dealbreaker. I paid the money for the upgrade, hoping that was a feature that would change as they added features to the new app. Sadly, it appears this is a permanent change. Farewell.

East to use and lets you get right to it- the different templates are great as well. The sync works great across devices
Another Developer Losing the Plot to AI Trash No One Wants
Over a year, and they added AI features no one asked for before restoring the basic ability to view the mind map and the outline view side-by-side like MindNode Classic used to. They should be prioritizing making it easier to do actual work with the app instead of having shoddy work done by LLMs.
Feature I miss a lot
I like the newer version of the app, except the lack of a fully manual option for node placement. None of the snap positions, nor the far-away override of it, are in -sync with my thought patterns and it just doesn’t work for me. I will go back to the classic version and hope that a fully manual option will be offered later. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Confusing naming and pricing
Long time user. Disappointed in the confusing naming. MindNode Next app on Mac under settings is called MindNode Plus, click manage subscriptions it’s called MindNode for Mac and when you need to renew a subscription it is MindNode Classic. What version am I actually subscribing to???
Manual Layout - updated 2026
Updated 2026 - they have the ability to easily manually reposition and I’m changing my review to 5 stars. I love this app!! Old review: I keep trying the new version every few months and keep finding myself disappointed in the lack of true Manual Layout. It’s a showstopper for me. I still use the legacy classic version daily. I will try to be patient but starting to look at other updated options in the market. Hoping for true manual layout in 2026.
File system change…
Moving from independent Mindnode files that could be indexed and searched, contents searchable, etc… to this janky horrible “It’s all within Mindnode” solution has been a catastrophic change for my data and my workflows.
Brilliant, simple but effective app
I’ve tried several productivity apps but I get overwhelmed with the customisation and numerous options. I’ve found visual mind mapping to be easy to setup and be consistent. I love how MindNode look and feel likes it’s part of the Apple family. I would give it 5 stars if you can create sub-folders. Highly recommend.
No longer for me…
This has been my go-to app for many years. But I am really disappointed to say that I’m considering moving on to something else. There have been so many regressions from a productivity standpoint: 1) No more outline/mind map side by side view 2) No more quickly applying formatting across the same level of nodes (or all nodes) 3) Multiple text rendering bugs 4) No stand alone files makes it hard to share across orgs that have their own file systems - but I do get wanting to add collaboration. Too many friction points have been introduced to work as efficiently as I used to. Disappointing.
What happened to MindNode? I have a subscription on an app I can’t find?!
I’ve liked this app for a while but not making the thing I’ve been paying for unavailable for updates prevents me from using this going forward. Great app but the business decision to do this needs to be revisited. Stability is more than just tech… it’s strategy and communication too
Good intuitive updates missing key features
I had to change my review to five stars. I’ve been using the new MindNode Next and it is fantastic. I just have to get over the fact that I can’t have it all. Things 3 integration would’ve put this app over the top in my world. Maybe one day. 5 stars

Zooming is awful
Cmd-+ should zoom you in to what you’re looking at, but it instead jumps you to to the fit-to-screen view of your entire map. It’s been broken like this for over a year. Such a fundamental need and established behavior that the app fails at miserably. So I have to go to actual size. You can’t even right-click to access a “Zoom in” or “Zoom out”… the only options are “Actual Size” and “Zoom to Fit Content” — an explanation that is also not standard wording and isn’t immediately clear as to what result you’ll get.
No widgets, connections half-useful
The old version had home screen widgets, I don’t see them here Also, connections aren’t rendered in the outline view at all, not even a badge on the row. Makes them easy to forget about
Good App but request new feature
This app at this price point is really good. I am transitioning my To Do (Appigo TaskFire) tasks, categories, etc. to MindNode. It is almost a replacement for my to do list and I love the representation of the nodes as it more closely aligns with the way I think. To make MindNode more useful, it would be nice to add custom fields to nodes, similar to tags, that could be assigned a value, either a number, letter or date, along with a feature to sort the nodes around the main node by those custom fields. For instance, nodes around a main node could be sorted by date or value and arranged like a clock, or vertical or horizontal, tree, or any other way, to give another view of the data and make it very useful information in some cases. The task node is useful, but would be even more useful if the node with the custom date field (on request) could be a repetitive task, like monthly, weekly, etc. and checking off the node would automatically increment the date field and create a new node at that date value. All in all, this is a well designed app that appears to be supported as of Sep 2025. Good job!
Crashes on Startup
It is crashing as soon as I open the app on iPhone 15
Top Notch App
MindNode is an excellent app. It delivers on what it promises. Super functional and clean interface across the entire Apple Ecosystem. I love it. I didn’t give it the 5 out of 5 for two reasons. First, the price. Second, as of writing this there are a few minor superficial hiccups that coincided with adding separate “main nodes” inside of a project. An “Align Tool” that allowed you to select one node and then select a second node and “Center Vertical”, “Center Horizontal”, “Right Align” or “Left Align” the first node to the second would be a really great addition for me. Also, currently in the app, when moving a single node close to a large node tree / system that is built out, the app has an “unseen” proximity around nodes that seems to change depending on whether I am using my phone, iPad or Mac. When I open a project that was I was working on with my Mac on my iPhone, sometimes engaging with certain nodes at all with send the large system As a subscription based app, this seems like it could be a basic developer update / integration. I use the visuals as illustrations and anything that helps me get a clean visual easier is a win. This would bump me
Looking for an alternative now …
I’ve been using various mind mapping apps over the past 20 years. Settled on MindNode soon after it first appeared, and loved using it ever since. But it has changed. The latest version is too restrictive. Layout and spacing options too limited - I want more freedom to layout my mind maps as I want them. The AI brainstorming implementation is really useless. No option to manage files locally in the finder. More limited integration with other apps. It feels like the developer is taking it in the wrong direction for me. The app is still visually appealing, but I am going to test out alternatives that more closely align with how I want a mind map app to work. SimpleMind looks promising…
Removed OmniFocus export
That’s too bad. That’s the only reason why I wasn’t using xmind. Will now switch to xmind.
A giant leap forward
MindNode Next, in addition to being a great mind mapping tool, also fills a large void, that is the gap between ideas and implementation. My favorite feature and one of the primary reasons I chose MindNode over other mind mapping apps is it integration with Apple’s Reminders, soon to be a more thorough two way integration. It already sends task to reminders and helps to keep track of when they’re completed. Soon they will add any new task created in reminders to the related MindNode document. My only wish is that they add true flow chart capabilities to MindNode.

Gna have to buy into reoccurring subscription fees to even see if this is what you looking for. I actually like that they left the free trial scam out of this gimmick app

If you use it robbery, comma, you will be able to feel like the guy in the movie limitless,,. Just kidding but if you don’t follow the steps and let yourself continue to go down the ADD mind spiral,nothing will change: you have to actually take action which is easier said than done, but my note helps and it’s fine and cute which is free by 299 for month is not bad much love aloha

Not ready
I got excited when finally the ability to print was added. But, now I am puzzled by the way it handles pasted text. If I paste text from OneNote it pastes into Next as a graphic, not text.
One of the most powerful tool
Great potential and many features from the Classic versionneed to be incorporated. Once they are in this till would become the best note-taking, analytical tool.
A downgrade
I can no longer find MindNode Classic in the Appstore. This new app is a huge downgrade. The navigation of files & folders is so rudimentary compared to the previous app. I have no option to choose where to save my files! It's like the developers just decided to go backwards. The themes are quite limited compared to the classic one. And fullscreen mode is gone. A shortcut to create a new document with content from clipboard is gone as well. All in all, a very disappointing app. I will continue to use the old one till it's no longer supported then move to Xmind.

PLEASE add a folder structure to the documents. It’s driving me crazy having to sift through so many. Otherwise it’s been great, replaced another app I was using that was discontinued
