What people like

What they complain about

- Many articles force web view instead of app
The Boston Globe
The Globe App vs. E-Paper
Doesn’t stay on article
When switching away from an article and back it doesn’t hold context and takes you to the first story on the app. Very poor quality control.
Great Paper, ok Web Site
I read the Globe in paper and on my phone every day. My password was contaminated and it was a chore to reset it.
Bad UX / IT support
Good luck trying to send an article to someone from the app. They get a dead links
Needs Improvement
The home page is a scroll of huge pics making it hard to really see what’s going on. If you’re mid-article and you switch to another app and come back, it doesn’t save your place - you end up on the home page meaning you have to navigate back to the article (I got there from a notification so not sure where to find it), and then scroll down to where you left off. That’s just stupid. Give me the ability to config the layout of my home page and always bring me back to where I left off. Put new stuff at the top if you want me to see it, but this ruins my experience.
Bucket list trip
Back to visit Beantown after 60 years. Still love the town AND the Globe. Keep up the good work.
Doesn’t work
Yes, I’m logged in, yes I have an active subscription, yes I can read everything on the website. I can’t read certain articles in the app, the entire weather section is greyed out.
Still clunky
Compared to other newspaper apps this is clunky, hard to search for articles, and not intuitive.
Can only log on or see on phone not on PC
Even though I am a paid subscriber I cannot read articles on a PC as I get challenged to log in. However clicking the log in icon produces no response. This is a chronic problem that was temporarily resolved by Support I can access the paper on the phone however.
Boston Globe
Very well done publication
Can’t access stories
I’ve been paying my subscription (expensive), but I’m can’t access stories. This app is terrible. Next week I’m cancelling.
Leftist Bias
The excessive leftist bias of the Globe is generally harmful to our citizens and approaching the intolerable level.
Search function needs more prominence
I read the hard copy BG and only use the app to share articles with others. I want the search function obvious on the Home Screen. I’m tech literate so this is not a Luddite complaint.
Online
I love reading the Globe online and in the daily newspaper. Having both options is awesome. Such a great newspaper.
Constant struggle to login
Love the journalism, hate the login process. Click on a globe link from outside the app and prepare for frustration. The globe never can recall your login information, something all my other paid news apps do.
Limited ‘Town’ paper. Little sense of the world. EG Vastly different from the NYT
It’s mind boggling how little news the Globe reports. Essentially none. In fact it’s a huge source of embarrassment for Massachusetts literati who have no choice but to read the NYT for actual news. Seems that all the globe cares about is scoring points with wokies. In fact, the less rational the better. In short , if a person or subject is woke, they can do no wrong, and any questionable ethics are ignored. In contrast, if a topic or person are independent & pander free rational, the globe will either bury it on page 100, or not mention it all or report 1/2 of the story, to skew the message to their wokie bias. To appear balanced they will publish the extreme wacky right fringe, but not the moderate, calm minded cerebral centrists. Sad, actually sad.
Why not make it work?
The app has a weird limitation. When I click a link using Gmail and it launches a web page that makes me login and then launches the app... Why not have the authentication built into the app like others?
Professional Journalism
Concise, unbiased reporting of national & world events. A pleasurable reading experience.
doesn’t work
Your $1 for six months subscription doesn’t work. Signed up on May 10, now can’t get in.
Weak Online Service, Y done this service have the worst “search” feature.

Globe app review
The functionality of the news section of the app is pretty good and intuitive. If you are interested in playing the crossword or other typical newspaper games do not bother, that section of the app is wildly out of date and almost unusable.
Digital
I can count on the Globe for the facts very early in the morning. Digital on the iPad or phone is so convienent.Really don’t need the paper version of the Sunday Globe in my driveway, but I understand that advertisers insist on it.
Format
I liked the old format much better. It was easier to get around the paper!
Font and type size too small
Can't read on iPad…too small.
Can’t gift articles
Decent local coverage but I cannot share articles to people who don’t subscribe to the Globe. Most newspaper subscriptions allow for several gifts a month.
Love the globe, with one grievance
I love the Globe, read the sports page every morning as I have for decades (before the app) To imitate the great Chad Finn, there is one grievance with the app. When I am scrolling, I frequently and annoyingly can’t help having my finger click on an ad that takes me away from my article. Get rid of that would be, to quote the great Bob Ryan, “addition by subtraction “
App doesn’t authenticate
Title says it all
E newspaper
This rating is not addressing the content of the paper but rather the technology underlying the E version. As many E version readers, I imagine, access the E version on an IPad or similar tablet, one would think the E version would be completely compatible with such devices. That’s not the case. The pages don’t fit, articles can’t be imported into other apps, scrolling is cumbersome. I read the E version of the Providence Journal daily and the experience is much better (although the content is terrible).
Forced to use the paper instead of app
One of my two iPads apparently can’t access the app version of The Globe which I much prefer to the e-paper. When I try to open the app globe it asks me to subscribe even though I have a current subscription.
New update
Wow, love it after the new update first thing I read every day on my tablet is the Globe so easy to use love it
No longer journalism
Sadly this has become too biased to regularly read.
Needs to stop directing to internal browser
Some articles like (live updates) try to open in a browser instead of an app and then force you to login again. That’s really poor design for a news app that we have to pay for to begin with.
Needs help
I click on an article to read it in the Boston Globe app. It tells me at the top that I should open it in the Boston Globe app. But I’m already in the Boston Globe app. What is the problem?
Accurate and concise report of the days news
The Globe knows how to provide the days news without extraneous commentary and stays focused on the important news
No Thought to UX
It refreshes and exits articles if you put the phone down for a second. Tons of articles just load the web version that then pops up a subscription pop up that you need to manually log in every time.
Irritating to open
Why if I receive an email with an article and invitation to read it is it necessary to go through all the account login rather than just opening?
Hard to log into
While NYT is easy, I’m consistently asked to enter a password to get into the Globe app.
Not balanced coverage
Over the top with liberal opinion throughout the paper -how can I trust what you present as news?
y
website is tgerrible
