Better than Yuka & Fig
OpenFoodFacts is free and community built. Fig makes you pay to scan food products, which as someone who has food allergies I think is ludicrous. OpenFoodFacts has worldwide information and details on more products than Yuka. My only complaint is that the app version for OpenFoodFacts is a bit slow, so I prefer the website version. This app seems really promising and I'm excited to help add to the food database.
Waste of time
It’s free for a reason. Literally half the foods I scanned had no data. And I was scanning common foods like SunChips and Grits. How do you not know what grits are???
Foods missing
I liked that I could customise my preferences for healthy food. It’s also easy to use. However, several of the EU-based foods I scanned were not in the database or missing facts. It has potential.

Pepsi compared to 100% juice
A can of Pepsi Max turned out to be a C and a box of 100% juice was an E....doesn't make any sense....maybe a good scanner but a poor algorithm for nutrition.
Great app
This is a really great app for checking food products, it works great! But it would be nice to check for fluoride contents, for water, mouthwash, etc and have that as a food preferences setting. And also ingredients translation.

Impossible de se connecter avec le mot de passe stocker sur l’iPhone. Et le lien pour réinitialiser le mot de passe renvoie sur l’application avec un message d’erreur.

Amazing app, Can’t believe it is free, Use it every time I go shopping to check I’m not consuming any ultra processed foods, Couldn’t be more happy :)
Good Idea, Bad Execution
Open source data is an excellent idea. But forcing people to create an account to use it is bull and I simply refuse to do it. App is rated accordingly.
One tweak
Love the idea but really need to see NOVA status in the initial listings as it does on web site. Then it would be perfect. Hope this can be done?! Thank you
What I wish could change and I hope will
I’ve been using Open Food Facts lately and it’s an amazing app but what I would love to see in a app is to see if a meal/dish/recipe is processed or unprocessed and it also doesn’t look up the products that I want! Going to a new app!
Amazing Work. But…
The world NEEDS this. Huge THANK YOU to the community of developers making it happen. One of the key aspects that drew me to the app is that it is open source. As such, I expected to find that the app allows data to move in and out easily. I was disappointed to see no support for Apple Shortcuts in the app. I also don’t see any import or export capabilities. Hopefully, these are on the roadmap as they are essential to me. I can’t code, unfortunately, but will look to contribute other ways.

Take Coke Zero, there are 13 different entries and they range from ‘unknown match’ to having eco scores of B and C. If they can’t even get consistency for one of the most popular drinks on the planet, how can you trust anything it says

J’utilise cette appli depuis pas mal de temps, le projet est sympa, mais je n’arrive toujours pas à synchroniser la liste des produits consultés et scannés sur l’iPhone et l’iPad, pourtant les deux synchronisés au même compte… L’appli plante souvent et quand au site web… au secours

No good
I really wanted this app to work as I have a great interest in ultra processed food. However, this app does not recognise many (only about 10%) UK foods and when I try to add the product and provide information the app won’t let me. sadly therefore I will be deleting it.
Useful and Practical
This is so useful. The NOVA scale should be on all foods instead of traffic lights.
Huh?
First product I scanned was not in their database. What followed was 15 minutes of photos and questions I had no answers for. Then requests for the same photos. Then requests to write down the information that was in the photos. They may know all of this. But they don't know the first-timers like me who know nothing about any of this. Screen after screen of confusion. I gave up and deleted it.
Could be great
I’ve only just found out about and started using this app and I do think it could be excellent, especially given very real concerns about UPFs, additives etc. I’m quite careful anyway but with dragging my glasses out, squinting at tiny labels and reading through them in a busy supermarket is a real pain, let alone working out what is recyclable etc etc- sometimes you just don’t know. Just for interest and practice I scanned a couple of items in my son’s kitchen, having set my preferences - including gluten content as I can’t eat it. Item two - big rookie error! App says a product is gluten free when it is not! App identified oats (the only cereal in the granola) as a gluten free item, presumably. Unless oats are specifically identified as gluten free oats they are not! Oats get cross contaminated in growing - alongside gluten containing cereals, or in processing alongside them. This would be a big problem if a user used the app to buy and prepare food for a coeliac, especially if the user is not coeliac themselves, and the food item is served up as ‘GF, I checked’ without the packaging being present. Also it’s an error in your analysis. I would have preferred to notify developers directly but couldn’t find a way of doing so. I hope you are listening.
Get this
Saves a massive amount of time reading labels and I love how you can rate importance of different elements ie dietary preferences, allergies etc. even gives an eco score. Excellent app

Would be better if you could also include your own options of things you’d like to always remove , eg; sunflower oil .
Needs More Users!
This could be such a great app if more people utilized it and input data on the food that they’re eating.
It was better
I chose this app because it had the NOVA food classification clearly indicated as first result. Now it is hidden among other information.
Cannot sign-in
This app has lots of potential. I am able to scan products, but when it comes to collaborate adding to the database it requires an account. I made an account in the computer before I tried this app. The app keeps telling that user or password are wrong. I was not able to create a new account either.

Could be great
This could be great. An app like this is needed. However not many products were recognised here in the UK. Also even ‘clean’ foods were marked as ultra processed. I wanted to contribute information to help the app but was unable to complete the sign in process. I think the product information could be better represented so that more people could make useful sense of it. Good luck!
Love the idea but it crashed three times in the first two minutes.
I want to love this ap; it is something we all need to offload the decision making process in choosing the right foods when we don’t have time to look up every ingredient. but the developers need to test us more because it keeps crashing when I try to sign up for an account.

Fab app
Tried a few and this was the best for my purposes which was identifying UPF and trying to clean up my diet. Real eye opener and now I try to contribute whenever I find something missing.
Not good
Great idea, shame it’s so frustrating! Cannot get the app to scan products- it needs to be quick when shopping. After taking the trouble to try and complete information on a product not found, won’t accept and save info.

I’m so impressed by the developers who created an open source food database that’s free. It has amazing data in it. However, it needs some polishing. Ceating an account is unnecessarily glitchy. You can’t get an ampersand for the email address because it gives a phone keyboard for the account ID. I found a workaround by using the microphone feature of your phone. Then it gave me a regular keyboard for some reason. Small things like that should be easy to fix. Then I would not hesitate to change my rating from 4 to 5. I guess it might be difficult to test the fix since one only registers once.
Adding food information
It is really hard work to add new products. It takes forever!! I support the aims of the app but not sure I have the energy for the process to add information about foods not listed
Code fabricant
Pourquoi ne plus mentionner le code fabricant d’un produit et son lien vers votre site internet ? Alors que cette information nous permet de connaître quels autres produits sont fabriqués par le producteur et de pouvoir savoir si, par exemple, un produit de distributeur est identique à un produit de marque ! Par exemple les fromages souvent mêmes produits sous différentes appellations ! Merci
The best app if you’re going ultra-processed free
As some one who is beginning their journey to being 100% ultra process food free, this app is invaluable! I encourage others to catalogue any new products they encounter when shopping, it’s actually a lot of fun and quite educational!

Works as described but lacks data
This is a great idea. The problem is that although the scanner recognizes the product (at least generically, but often not the specifics such as the brand) there is no data in the dB for many products. The first four items I scanned all asked ME to enter all the data from the package. Tsk tsk. If you’re crowdsourcing the data it’s going to take a while before this app becomes useful.

Very helpful
Really helpful to plan meals with ingredients according to my preferences. The contribution system is simple too. I predict this app will be very important for my focus on finding and eating non UPF
App doesn’t work
The app doesn’t work. Can’t create an account and can’t scan any products.
Scanner works fast and well
The scanner works well and is fast. Great for the French products but not so much for the US. The database needs to grow more.
Two years between the last and previous review
Can’t be that great or popular if no one feels compeled to review, i mean not even a negative review in two years?
Really want this to work, but it didn’t
I created my first product from a scan, and took the photos. While they were spinning I added all the nutritional information. But the photos never uploaded, and worse, I can’t save my work in progress to try again.
