Kia ora, we’re Rankers, a small 100% NZ-owned crew, collecting camping and travel knowledge since 2007. We’ve spent 20 years in our campervan, have stayed in these places and share the truth with you about what's good.

Rankers Camping NZ shows over 1500 places you can stay, including those where the local community has said you’re welcome. Our co-owner Cymen has spent twenty years leaving on-the-ground campsite notes: which end of the campground is quietest, where the hidden toilet is, when to arrive so you actually get a spot. None of it scraped, none of it crowd-guessed. Someone went there.

That’s our whole data policy, more or less. We collect the bare minimum to get the job done, and almost everything in the app works without you telling us anything at all. No creepy tracking, no ads following you around the internet afterwards. Our business isn’t harvesting data - it’s camping.

Over 108,000 traveller reviews, and every single one has been read and checked by a human on our crew - not a computer. Nobody gets to be anonymous, every reviewer verifies their email, and if an operator disputes the facts we suspend the review while we sort out what’s true. We spent years collecting reviews face-to-face with a clipboard, on the road - the habit of checking never left. Untrusted reviews are a complete waste of time.

Camping NZ is run by a handful of Kiwis working around our families, kids and the vege patch. No investors, no head office, nobody to keep happy except you. Which is why this app is allowed to have actual opinions - like which end of a campground has the quiet toilet, or whether anyone’s honestly going to use that portable loo stored under the bed. The big apps can’t talk like that. We can, so we do.

Every campsite, all the info is built right into the app. No signal, no setup - day one, well out of range, it’s in your pocket. Detailed maps are a download while you’ve got wifi. The difference is you’re never left staring at a blank app. Not too shabby.
