An idea
I honestly really like the game, it captures the expand to survive, one theme in addition you could pursue is samurai following the exact same mechanics or a really good option is the colonial America or something like that.
Voice over inaccessible
Cant get past the tutorial with voiceover. Sticks at forcing me to attack a free village. Can’t attack, or proceed with tutorial.
Upgrade
Since upgrade Celtic tribes will not open on my iPad.
Terrible last update
It’s most annoying that the game developer thought it’s a good idea to constantly change the order of messages and general functions. If you have quite some messages the system messages are now invisible on the bottom. Another great idea to make the font size in parts of the game so small that they are nearly unreadable. And no option to increase the size using standard iOS functions. Terrible now to play this game.
Fantastic game, but horrible support
I love the game and have been playing it for years. When you play, you can copy an identifier number that game support is supposed to use in case you lose your account. Mine was lost when I got a new phone. It has been over a week and no support from the game “help” at all. It is a really fun game, but don’t count on any help if you ever need it! They are 100% non-responsive!

This game is entertaining, but since yesterday I’ve been having trouble logging in. I’ve checked my connection, and it works fine. I’ve messaged the support team and have not yet received a reply since yesterday. What is happening? Edit: I've deleted, reinstalled, and deleted again, because this game is just straight up pay to win. Sure, speed up your progress of building and research and recruiting. But then you can refill your resources with just a couple thousand coins. Yet the most ridiculous mechanic is the ability to purchase villages on the map, which will be taken advantage of by people with enough money in their wallets. Stay away from this and any other game made by this developer. They're really after your money.
Great but has issues.
I thoroughly enjoy this game, I started slow before I realized you can get resources from tasks and I never knew you can raid AI villages with just a single slinger early game. I only learned how to play the game after I looked it up and found a wiki article. That’s another issue, there’s ZERO help from outside sources. People in the game don’t answer, there’s no wiki page, there’s no discord, there’s not even a Q&A. That’s not to say they don’t provide info tabs when you click the i but I spent hours trying to learn how to get horse drawn carriages and can’t find anything online

I have been playing for several years,I loved it. But as my village count rose, the speed slowed down. Now I have to sit thru many “Loading......” messages, either when I try to rename a village, scroll down, or mass recruit. I really enjoy it, but the speed is getting me frustrated.

Disappointed
This is a menu driven game with very little graphic action. It took me a week to find my way around the menus. There are lots of help menus, but they do not seem to address specific issues. Now after four weeks,I have loads of resources, soldiers etc, plundered at least three 'free villages'a day, but I am beginning to despair at getting anywhere. There appears no help in advising you how to build castles and fortresses, only why you need them, and what the cost is. Will persevere for a few more weeks, this is not in the clash of clans or rival kingdom league. Be interested what other users think

I downloaded this game hoping for a good and imaginative and fun MORPG. I got it! Along with a great sound effect variety in theme and with the constant village background sound effects along with the great variety of Celtic music. This game really makes for interesting play. It’s also very blind accessible. Fun for cited and blind alike. Try it out.
Who’s running this place?
This game has a long history. It is complex and takes a very long time to build up to workable levels. After 6 years of playing this game and seeing many people come and go, it seems to me like the old timers have the responsibility to take care of the game. The management of the game is nonexistent at best. If you have troubles because of glitches or foul players, you can expect no help from them, it’s the old timers that will help. In fact management seems to make the game more difficult in order to save themselves from reporting server problems. Sweeping issues under the rug and hoping people keep using the service is a horrible way of running a business. Ever hear of “the customer is always right”? If the customer is talking to a wall it would have the same effect as complaining to the management. Your on your own unless you can make friends in a very suspicious game.

BUT , they just HAD to try and screw ever more money out of players by slowing everything down , making the only way possible to get anything done quickly to spend money. The excellent graphics/game improvements SHOULD have been a good thing , but instead they were just used to extort money , a good game gone bad , with less and less players bothering to play!
Toxic Community
Used to play back during the old graphics, and quit before the new ones. Came back a year after that and had to quit due to my personal life. Well I joined back a month ago or so, and I have to say the community seems more toxic than ever. Definitely a turn off for any new comers or old heads returning and relearning the game. With such toxic people, it’s hard to love this game anymore.

It used to be a great game but major modifications have changed that.
It's ok, but...
So, I want to like this game, but there are weird little annoyances which bring it down from a 4 or 5 star rating. First off, every time you do something, the game has to refresh or reload, and not just the normal refresh you see in other games. It's like the whole game refreshes within iOS. It was okay at first, but has become annoying to the point that it slows down gameplay noticeably. Also, screen orientation is off. You have to hold the iPhone / iPad one specific way, as the screen won't reorient to how you're holding it. Also, it's quite confusing trying to figure out what level your buildings are without clicking on each one individually as well as figuring out what each one does as they're not labeled. It's just not very user friendly or intuitive. Good concept though, just needs some work making things easier on the player.

I like the concept of the game; but the way it was put together isn't good. If you have a loading popup every 2 seconds, it takes quite a bit away from the game. Sorry!
Celtic Tribes Rocks
The only problem I have with this game is telling what direction a given target is with voiceover. I can tell how many fields away a target is but I can't tell if it's to the north or the northwest or southeast for example and I'm having trouble getting to the stronghold because of that.
Still needs improvements
It's good we can now see full names but I'm still getting randomly kicked off the game when in middle of upgrading buildings or calculating attack plans etc...the map also keeps going completely cookie where I can't see pink highlights or diplomacy colours. It's also very slow compared to old version.
Awesome Game
I've had a lot of fun playing the previous versions of this game. But the latest updates have given it a much more cartoonish look and made it less distinctive from other games in the genre.
Highly Recommended
This game is the best! It will challenge your strategic and tactical abilities in many ways. It's multi-faceted: be a fighter, be a farmer, be a spy, be anything you want. For once a truly "free" game you can play to the hilt with or without spending money.

You have messed around with a perfectly good app and quite frankly have ruined it. The new buttons and layouts are hard to spot out ontop of the vile wooden paneling. It appears you have gone for the iOS7 look but tried top hard. The app in no longer simple and easy to use, it is confusing, and almost unusable/ playable

Pay to win heaven
This game used to be fun. The devastating ruined it when they made it pay to win. You can do everything with money in this game. DO NOT PLAY UNLESS YOU ARE PREPARED TO PAY HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS. It wouldn't be so bad if it were like clash of clans pay-to-win. In this game, if someone who spends money doesnt want you to play anymore, guess what, they take all of your villages using troops they payed for with real money, sent from villages they captured using potions(in game payed currency). You can get everything you want in this game with money, and without it your not even able to compete. On their new 'battle server' the pay to win players are dominating. The normal players are just ants to them. Let me go into more detail on just what they can do. In this game you start off with a single village. You grow that one village up until your big enough to capture another. Then you can build up your two villages. Or, instead of building up and taking the time, you can spend like $15 and get your second village instantly. Now, this is also a pvp game, and not your normal pvp, where you lose completely and it doesn't really affect your game too much. You can capture other players villages too, resources provided. Heck, you can capture them all! If you lose all your villages you start all over again at the beginning with one village. It could take you months to catch up again, even if they decided to leave you alone. Or they can just continue to take your one village. Now i dont mind losing, as long as it was a fair fight, and he beat me strategically. But what happens, is one player, can spend a few hundred dollars, get all troops and resources he needs instantly, and then attack you and reset you. If you don't get the point of this review by now, than play the game and see for yourself. But don't say you weren't warned. Find out like the thousands of people who stopped playing the game because of this. Developers, your app will be dead soon. It won't be long before your non-pay to win players realize there isn't a point to play anymore and just delete the app. Then your pay to win players get bored and stop too. I hope you make some changes that aren't focused on making you more money, and soon.
Good but not great
Good game but is slow to start..... Takes about 3 weeks before you can start conquering villages and some of the gameplay can be confusing. Not much on the eye but all in all entertaining. Needs to be better for five stars

Problems with achievements in game centre
I have 142 villages and will soon have 150, but still the game centre has not allocated me my points for the 100 villages achievement. There may be other achievements that I am also missing points for as I am sure I'm owed a troop number one and I have no idea what the "hidden" achievement is for. How can I fix this? (IGN Curuwen).

This is incredible! It has so many good elements I don't even know where to begin. It's interesting, challenging, educational and frustratingly addictive all in one. I would like a few more music tracks, simply because the current ones keep getting stuck in my head. By far my favorite thing about this app is the level of accessibility. I'm totally blind, so finding voiceover-friendly iOS games is a struggle. There's a slight lag when you're at the main village screen, but otherwise I have no complaints. Keep up the good work :)

Good job fixing the frame rate guys! The game is awesome again however the gem shop STILL does not work and I'm tired of entering the arena and be out up against a lv 50 who one shots my whole party, you should only have to fight people who are the same or have a lower level Better yet label people as being a hard fight so you don't end up wasting energy. Ty

Longer i play it. More i think is rubish game. Buildings take ages to upgrade. No way to cut that time. There is no off, deff ranking. No build in calc. Units walk forever. Cost alot. Crap support. It has nice graphic tho and briliant music
I like the new update.......Almost!
The new layout is actually not that bad, however. As with other comments above, 1) You can't select the whole message if you want to copy and paste. 2) It doesn't show the whole message and it doesn't show the players full name. 3) I've been kicked out of the game several times today which is annoying, but with every update you will get problems. So on the whole, I like the new update but it needs tweaking a little....or a lot!!!
