Bad.
Hard to use, poor quality gifs, imprecise video editing.

Ad hype
The Ad advertising this app is better than the choice of gifs and navigating it is HORRIBLE‼️ 🙉😬☹️
Render Quality Has Gone Down Sadly (Updated)
Latest Review: (03-01-2026) With the latest version the quality of GIFs has gone down quite a lot i think. Not sure what has happened but it’s very disappointing I think. I’ve used this app since it first released abcs have always appreciated and loved it a lot. But there are new changes I’m not a fan in the interface and just like I mentioned, the quality of the rendered GIFs seeming to be worse really stinks. I hope the developer would please just revert the app to how it used to be. It was so much better in the past in my opinion. Thanks if you’ll look into that please. iPad Pro 13 inch 2025 (M5) Updated Review: I still find this GIF creation tool to just be the very best of the best available on the App store. I have never come across another app that even rivals the top quality on display here in my opinion. I have also found the developer of this app to be very kind, helpful and super attentive in regards to maintaining this brilliant application. Oh and, I also really would like to thank Eric for adding the "Yo-Yo" effect/feature that I requested, it is very much appreciated, works wonderfully and I am just very grateful for its inclusion into the app. Unfortunately, though, with the past two or three updates I have noticed some new, not so nice, issues with this application. One of those things is that app in my use now has a tendency to crash quite a bit. This crash can take place when I am performing various actions in the application or it even sometimes occurs when I first start the app up. I always clear out my temporary memory before I start to use this program, by killing all apps in the background (which I highly advise that users do regardless of what app you are currently using). Also, the render times, app startup and just the app in general feels a lot more sluggish to me. Not sure why that is, of course, but just wanted to mention that as well. Oh and, I am using 5Seconds on an iPad 4 running iOS 8.1.1. So, I still feel that this great application deserves the five stars that I have always given it, my original review is a good indication of why. But, I just felt that it was important to alert the developer to these bugs that I was experiencing. I have found that the dev., Eric, is always hard at work improving this already superb app and exterminating any bugs that pop up. And the frequency of meaningful updates to the app is quite often. So, even though the app is misbehaving for me, I still highly recommend it and feel confident that the developer will get everything sorted out on the technical side, in due time. Thanks again, Eric, for your continued support and dedication to this application and Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. God bless and thanks. Original Review: I am very happy with these two most recent updates to this application. Honestly, though, I do not think that I have ever been disappointed with an update from this top-notch developer. I really appreciate the new red outlined popup notifications of progress in the app. I also really like the new Password Protection feature that was added, thank you. In regards to that feature, I especially appreciate the fact that you can enter characters besides just numbers when creating your password and also that it cannot be recovered if you forget it. Because, in my opinion, that makes this feature that much more safe and gives the user the satisfaction of knowing that it cannot be undone through any outside servers or any other means. Others features that I am grateful for, well, not features per se, but the fact that many former bugs have now been squashed, thank you. I did notice one new bug/glitch, though. It pertains to when I make duplicates of my Gifs in the application. I haven't used the app since this most recent update and I know "Bug, UI fixes" were listed in this most recent changelog. So, this may have been addressed already. But, when I first went to make a duplicate the app crashed. My duplicate was there when I returned to the app after that, though. The second time that I tried to create a Gif duplicate, it appeared for a second then dissapeared. Luckily the app did not crash again. But I just repeated the duplicate action again and it worked fine and stayed there after that. So, hopefully this has been corrected in the most recent update, but, if not I just wanted to make the developer aware of this issue. Thank you for all of your hard work and continued support and maintenance of this wonderful Gif creating application. Thanks again and God bless. iPad 4, iOS 7.1.2
Great find
Make your own animated graphics. Easy to figure out, mini uses Como truly free, and robust. Perfect fun.
They Stopped Updating App
It converts Gif to a slower than Original version and that’s the Pro Add On! It occasionally stops rendering anything.
Great app. Crashing on wmv/avi files w Dropbox tie-in
Generally, a great app for iPhone and iPad. I’ve used a lot over many years and enjoy it. Can’t beat the price. One star off because it is crashing on my iPad every time I try to import a wmv or avi file from Dropbox.
When it works
It’s good when it works, but no matter what I do, most of the time it imports videos upside down.
limited free version
atleast it isnt "free trial" only!
I Love this App
I have been using this app for many years now and I love it
No matter what
The image is upside down after gififying
Best I've Seen on App Store
There are a few of these animators on the App Store… But even as a free app, this is easily the best. Enabling very good manual control, and good export options with no ads!
New update
Can’t pinch to make text smaller. Not so good. More glitchy than the last one was. Still the same problem exists with the last 2 iOS 14 updates. The smallest you can make a word of text is still huge and takes over the whole gif. Please fix please
Would you please add more seconds? Thanks!!
Would you please add more seconds? Thanks!!
Not to shabby
I’ve had this app for awhile now and made more the my fair share of gifs. This app is kinda fun. I’ve had loads of fun with this app since I’ve had it.
Now Crap
I have enjoyed the app until I upgraded to the iPhone SE 2020. Now I’m unable to type in my password. The keys don’t work.
Good so far!
Excellent quality, perfect import/export sharing, adding better fonts and the ability to change the text to bold or italic would make 5* for me! Well done keep working!
Sonti
Can’t delete what you edited😔
Good, but...
When I select background for text, there is no option to remove it. Had to delete app and reinstall. There is no scroll option for text. Other than that, pretty cool app.
🏆 Not a greedy developer 🏆
APP operates flawlessly. Definitely worth the 2$ It’s hard to find a non bank draining app these days. ❤️
Ad support by NRA (NATIONAL RIFLE ASSOCIATION)
Received ads from NRA (National Rifle Association) on more than one occasion. A bummer for apps to be accepting money from such divisive political sources. Will not use anymore, and I’ve asked all my friends to do the same.
great app! but...
this app would be rated as 5 stars if there wasn't so much crashing! whenever I try and merge a gif into another, it freezes up like its trying to merge the two gifs together, but just gives up and crashes. the first time I used this, it worked with absolute no problems. but now as I'm trying to make multiple gifs into one, the same as I did the first time I used this app, it just doesn't seem to be working anymore. Please could you fix this crashing problem as this is a very good app and it is fun to make the gifs! thanks.
Not Working Now
The app was nice when I purchased it months ago but now it’s not working properly.
Good but always blurry!
This is a good app, my only complaint is that my gifs always come out blurry!
No gimmicks. Works as advertised.
App has lots of extra utilities and features as well.
Ugh!
GIFs are blurry and low resolution. No good. Can’t use.
Best gif maker
Purchased Pro upgrade immediately to support this developer - please add iPhone 6 screen size and support the higher resolution photos and the 240fps video. Definite 5 stars once it's fully iPhone 6 capable.
Bad outside of the app
Great app if you are viewing the gifs you created inside the app. Once you export to your photo album the quality is horrible. Almost unwatchable. Useless for posting to tumblr because of this.
Good App
But prefer the Slideshow where you can add your music.
Thank you!!!
After installing over 30 apps and visited many websites I finally found this gold! Thank you so much!
needs to be fixed.
the gifs that i’m creating keep coming out blurry and the text isn’t even legible.
Useful
I use it to create animated gifs for my web design. Easy to use.
No longer works
Used to work great but when gif is exported to photo album it only exports a still picture :(
Not very good
It comes out very blurry
Powerful
Crashes more often than it used to but still an incredibly powerful free app. Wish it would go back to previous iteration of frame edit view, when I could rotate my phone to change thumbnail size and frames weren’t cropped to fill thumbnail space.
Update
Update to 180p or 4K resolution for the iPhone XS Max or iPhone XS and the iPad Pro. Do a purchase for longer gif minutes.
Does what it says on the tin
It's good for general gifs
won't let me save
It says I've saved the gif but I cannot find them in my videos anywhere?
Great but problem..
Love the app but don't understand when i go to select photos from camera roll , they aren't there within the app but are there in my camera roll??
an actual functioning app for gif production
Does what it should do - no hassle. Thank you for making this.
Fixed it til it broke. Meh.
Fine. You added tags. But now when I go to crop a gif the tag selection appears where the save used to be. So my choices are tag it or cancel. Can’t save new cropped gif. Hope you fix this with the next update.
Does what I wanted
This app does what I wanted. Creates a gif from my videos. Ideal
pas assez d'options
le logiciel est assez limité.
Incomplete
needs better indication of file sizes and frames sizes say similar to gif toaster, impossible to get good res under 3mb for Twitter.
Nice app
Could use more options like folders, longer gifs from 15, 20, 25, 30, 45 & 60 seconds & maybe special effects. Sometimes when you reopen the app it has a peekaboo moment, a window so to speak, where it displays the contents for anyone to see of the last gif played (NOT GOOD). Also, saving is a pain in the butt, make it quicker, smarter & easier to save stuff back to the Camera Roll.
gifs were disappeared after update
I moved and stored some gifs from phone library into 5sGif app, however after update, Gifs are gone. I’ve just lost all my Gifs because of storing only on 5sGif app.
Quite cool
It's great cause it lets you make gif images out of videos of your choice. However, the sharing facilities are a bit limited as it would've been good if you could share the gif straight to twitter/tumblr.
Needs option to loop in reverse
Looping from beginning makes for jerky gifs kids.
Basic & somewhat effective
Good for combining stills to make a short gif and adjust speed of the playback, could benefit from tweaks to playback and image hold times.
