Must have app!
This app kills it every time!! Whenever I’m stuck trying to figure out a used sample I come here and they nail it!
Not working, network error
I am a subscriber, kind of disappointed in hearing of Spotify acquisition, as an apple guy, I can only hope they keep support open with people that have invested in their apple library.
Holds it weight in finding the samples used!!! 🌟
Love it… Holds it weight in finding the samples used!!!
Website is better
Website (when using an ad blocker) is 5 stars. This app is incredibly glitchy and difficult to use
A little misleading but worth it
For the price of the app you can only scan and recognize samples in your Apple or Spotify playlists. To scan music that is playing around you, you have to pay a yearly subscription. That info should have been front and center. Not a bad buy, if you are a producer or DJ it could be beneficial to pay the subscription if the features work well.
Hands down favorite app of all time
I am o b s e s s e d with this app - unbelievable how many hours in futile google searching it’s saved me and it’s honestly my primary music discovery tool at this point too. My friends and I spend hours at a time on it. The search function is so intuitive and user-friendly (+ the listening function w time stamps) it’s almost impossible not to go down a crazy rabbit hole. It’s a fairly simple premise and the earlier versions got the job done just fine, so I think it’s so neat they keep working on it and adding new features.
You hustled me out of $4. Hope it was worth it.
I get that you guys need money, I mean we all do. But it is not entirely clear on your store page that you’ll be paying two separate prices. Why don’t you make that a big banner like you do for the rest of the features so that people won’t feel swindled by you guys. Just a little advice.
Amazing App but
I use this app all the time as I am a producer but I would love a much flush app redesign and when it says this song is streamed from Apple Music it would be better to get the quick jump buttons to work so it is a lot easier to use but apart from that the app is amazing. It’s got all the samples you need even the obscure ones and it is very easy to link your apple or Spotify account with it. But it would be great if you could do an app redesign so it is even more easier to use.
Love the service, but…
… the app has always been frustrating to use since it has never implemented iPad compatibility. and, with the introduction of iOS/iPadOS 26 — since this app has never been iPad compatible — it’s now become infuriating since it can’t support proper window sizing (especially when I want to use it with other apps). I just can’t see myself using it anymore.
Great but…
… doesn’t work anymore for me. This is a brilliant app and does exactly what it says on the tin. However I’m not sure if it’s associated but I commented on a post a couple of weeks ago and now the app doesn’t work. Totally unresponsive. I’ve deleted and reloaded. Nothing. Well done but please fix it.
One of the best apps ever
This is one of the best app ever let you see what song and who use it and who may have to use it in the past I love this app
Just like shazam or more like a SCAM!
Long story short: if you want to feel like you've been robbed by a poorly designed carnival game rather than enjoy your music, by all means, give this app your money. Otherwise, save yourself the headache and keep your cash for actual music! Literal waste of money… I’d give it zero stars if I could! Long story long: Honestly, I'm pretty bummed. I heard a new song, and I swear the first part of it is sampling another song. When I saw there was a “Shazam-like” app that I could listen to songs to figure that out, I was stoked and thought, hey, that’s worth $3.99. Talk about being jebaited because when I open the app to try to listen to the song I wanted to figure out, it wants to charge me another $9.99 as a subscription! On top of the $3.99 I already wasted. So then I try to search for the song manually, and it doesn’t even have the song I was looking for. Literal waste of money, bull!
Add Deezer
Bonne application mais pourriez vous ajoutez la connexion à deezer et non pas juste à spotify et Apple musique
Scanning Spotify Error
A “Network Error” pops up every time I try to scan my Spotify account, making the reason I bought the app totally unusable.
Crashes when Analysing Spotify
Extremely annoyed at this!! Developers please provide a bug fix! Otherwise great App and great concept.
5🌟
Everything I was looking for
Pass, Just use website
Putting the listening behind a subscription paywall after paying a $4 fee for the app is just trash. No way to request a refund. Stay away from this app and just use the website.
Could we get an iPad app, pretty please? 🙏
I love WhoSampled and think it’s the best online resource in the music realm. I would just love to see an iPad app as I use it for music most. I’m using the scaled up iPhone version on it currently. I’m sure it would be great. Thanks
Lacking essential features,
App is ok but is lacking in some essential features. Some are available on the website (which is also lacking) and some aren’t. - Can’t submit newly identified samples through the app. How is this not one of the main features?? They should have this feature along with the option to save drafts prior to submission - No filter or sort options for searches (genre, sample type, exclude words in search, sort by year, filter by year range etc.) - No dark mode Other comments: - The animation when switching between the song and the sampled song is so annoying. Please make it one smooth transition instead of pausing in the middle - One feature that is ridiculous is the one where they pull in audio previews for sample listings from Apple Music and they specifically state “accuracy might vary” and whoo boy, yes it does vary. On the website it’s manually entered in so the audio previews are precise and usually plays at the correct timestamp even (depends on the source).
Can’t login to website?
I’ve purchased this and the annual subscription; IOS app works well but no way of finding out how to log in to the website, or if this is even possible having purchased via App Store.
Such a great tool
Love having the ability to quickly find out who sampled what in my favorite songs, which leads to more fun music discovery!
Misleading
Not only is the app $3.99, but you must pay an additional $10.99/month to utilize the basic function of this app (the one it’s advertised for). Don’t bother & just use a free app with literally the same functionality, unless you have that kind of extra cash. Imo this app is stupid
Great App! Well Worth it!
Great App! Worth it if your a die hard music fan and want to see where some of the ideas came about by using samples and find some cool cover songs and remixes. I would highly recommend it.
Doesn’t work
It crashes anytime I try to scan Spotify
Fix the sign-up via email please
The sign up via email doesn’t appear to be working on IOS? Just freezes and doesn’t let me enter any details for the password. Thanks
best app
One of the first apps i make sure downloads on a new phone. it’s a great reference tool in general as artist/DJ/collab if i ever struggle with a client on origin or “I wrote this” syndrome, i can just pull this app up and instat karma 🤣
will it ever load?
app is dogwater. it never loads the song im playing on spotify. never loads a search. what am i paying for?
One of the best purchase i made, but...
Great app, LOVE it, but some songs are missing. Also, whenever I try to login with Spotify, it shows: The login credentials you entered were wrong.
Charge you 3.99 to charge you 10 bucks a month
The main reason I got it in the first place was to use it like Shazam. Come to find you have to pay a separate monthly fee to use that. Waste of money. Just use the website.
Good database, however subscription based even after purchase.
Awesome database and discovery of samples used however I thought this was $5.99 to buy the app to use the microphone to identify tracks like Shazam, didn’t realise I needed a subscription for $15.99 a year to be able to do that. Didn’t see the mention of in app purchases before I bought the app.
Only tea for receipt’s
Thanks for talking me out of retirement
Static is so bad
I’ve just played my first tune, and it sounds like from the 1920’s.
For music lovers
This has to be one of the best apps for discovering new music and gaining knowledge in the music you know. The only thing this app needs is optimization for the iPad.
Gone downhill fast
One of the best apps I have ever downloaded - but last update no link to Spotify so the samples are just random and you can’t actually hear the part of the song it’s from Also links to covers are wrong. Look up “Heart - Alone” says it’s a cover of some classical song :-( Please get this app back to what it was originally or sadly it’s getting deleted
Pretty decent
It’s smoother than using the website but some ‘open in Spotify’ type connectivity would but a bit more up to date date than taking you to a YouTube window.
Great sample research tool
This great for all new comers to really research hip hop samples to know the origin and original songs
Smh
Had this app for a few years now. Just use google
Aye!
Homies! Optimize for iPad and you may have my extra star!
Further Hidden Charges
I found the app pretty pointless. It doesn’t do anything that their website can’t provide and most annoyingly there’s a further £8 subscription charge to allow access to the microphone for instant listening and sample information. Twelve quid is pretty steep to get sample info.
Not sure
I was lead to believe this app would be able to identify songs that Shazam can’t by accessing some other database and that’s supposedly why it’s worth paying for I’ve had it for a few months now. it can’t.
10/10 no notes!
Love this app for music discovery
Rip off
They make you pay for the app, but you don’t even get to use it until you pay the $9.99/ months subscription fee. It’s very misleading to make people pay for an app that they can’t even use until they pay again for the subscription fee so they can double dip. I refuse to support a company that operates like that on principle alone.
DJ必須!こんなアプリ欲しかった!
DJにとって必須アプリ!これがあれば元ネタ検索・同ネタ検索も簡単!! Shazamの様な聞き取り機能があれば神アプリです!
Audio doesn’t work on the sample videos
I love WhoSampled and have been using the website for years, but have experienced technical difficulties with the audio. For some reason, the audio doesn’t play for an of the videos (samples or originals). Could the developers of the app please look into this, as I don’t know whether it is a common issue or not. I have not experienced audio issues with any other app/music on my phone.
Where’s the Jump button?
I love the website and I’ve been using it for years. But I’ve just went ahead and spent £3.99 on the app, and there’s no jump button like on the site. Which is one of the main features imo. So it’s not a complete version of the website and it’s technically a rip off for that price, because it doesn’t work the same.
🐐

search doesn't actually work?
i don't get it. the app doesn't seem to work at all. website is way more effective.
MAJ !
Some problems...
Fantastic premise but utterly floored by embedded YouTube audio not playing?!? Really makes the app useless... Hope this gets fixed asap.
Great app but....
It's a great app but the design is so poor. I'm often finding myself trying to work out how to find what songs were sampled and giving up as it's so much fuss. Rebuild the app, stop it looking like an old iPhone. Add better integration with Spotify, tidal or other music streaming services, youtube is not always reliable and it frequently doesn't work via the app. If this was all fixed the app would be a 5 star, but at the moment the money is just not worth it.
