Hardware rival
Dawnbeat makes me wonder if there is a need for hardware samplers. The features of this sampler rival hardware versions especially considering portability. Dawnbeat is also easy on the eyes. The user interface and color customization make it easy to adjust for your visual needs. Give it a try. The ease of use is a win for me.
Fix auv3
Fix the auv3 interface on MacBook that isn’t working at all!!! No point of having that if u can’t use it on a Macbook
Made potential but broken
App has the potential to be dope but it’s broken. Lose all my work every time I reopen app and sequencer doesn’t work. Better as an instrument than an actual standalone app.
The App Keeps Crashing
This is a nifty mobile beat making app. It really has the hallmarks of something that can be great. My foremost problem with it is that it keeps crashing. This is a serious challenge since it crashes either when I am in the middle of making a beat or after I save it. Then, to add insult to injury, although it has a “recover beat” option, that doesn’t work. If I had saved the beat before crashing, it appears not to recognize it for reload. Effectively, the beat is lost forever. I’ve tried to delete the app and install it again, this doesn’t work. It’s a horrible experience. Developers need to address this to ensure the app remains a viable option to the likes of its competitors.

Opened it back up today and looks like the bugs I reported are fixed plus there's newer stuff. Cheers! ORIGINAL REVIEW: I love this app. Hoping for an update that fixes ran into bugs. Present bugs: unplugging/plugging in headphones killing audio playback, locking the device and reopening into app killing audio playback.
Bugs
I was very happy with this sampler app but since the last update, the Fade out Fade in option doesnt seem to change anything. It's just the waves changing but not the Sound. I am a bit disappointed, since I paid for the full version.
Outstanding!
Beyond obvious comparisons with some other sampler apps, this one is a heavyweight all on its own terms. The ability to host AUv3’s internally makes it a perfect sound design/loop maker app, for starters (the big Render button isn’t buried in submenus here.) When you host a sampler inside a sampler wonderful, unusual things can happen… that’s all I’ll say without giving away too much. ;) Would love to see a bit more stability - occasionally sessions with two or more AUv3’s inside will cause it to crash. Big Up to the developer!
Mooi programma, maar crasht elke 2 minuten
Dit programma doet alles wat ik nodig heb. Alleen in een productie is het niet te gebruiken omdat het elke 2 minuten crasht. Erg jammer, en zonde van de 6 euro. Als je wil spelen, vooral kopen, maar voor iets meer serieus, dikke nee.

This will be great someday. I think the developer is really onto something special with this sampler. While it’s currently missing some features and has a few bugs to iron out, I already feel that the design of this sampler makes it more fun to use than others I’ve tried. I look forward to the day it’s feature complete and runs with some more stability. The are some bugs currently: - The app immediately crashes anytime I try to import a sample using Audioshare. It also has crashed while loading vst instruments. I hope it continues to get updates to iron out the bugs. I can also confirm what another review said about the app losing sound after the screen locks. - In VST mode, when I record an audio file I’m only able to preview it once (if at all) then it never plays again when I press the play button. I can still load it to a pad and it plays fine. But, I can’t preview it after the first time. - Where is the ‘Gallery?’ When I record an audio file and choose to save it to the ‘Gallery,’ where does it go? - While running in AUM, after a while anything recorded into Dawnbeat via a mix bus sound like it’s been slowed/pitched down. Then after I close and open it again it sounds normal. - While running standalone, I often will switch between Files and Dawnbeat. When I return to Dawnbeat no audio will play (background audio is set to always) Features I’d like to see added: - Choke groups! - A master stop button added to stop all one shots, loops and sequence at once - The ability to share audio files from other apps within i(pad)OS to Dawnbeat - 24 and 32 bit audio recording - Auto save and auto-resume upon open options Otherwise, I’m having fun with it!
Amazing sampler
I love the design of this app. Please just add an arpeggiator.
Does not work at all
Whenever I open the app, and try to record/add a sample, it crashes the app. It doesn’t even work on my iPad. All of my devices are up to date too. (iPhone 15, and iPad 10th generation)

I love the fact you can sample and use in app drums but everytime I try to add a sample it crashes
Has potential
This app definitely has potential. However anytime I try to import any sample from AudioShare it crashes. Seems there are memory issues that need to be ironed out. iPhone 13pro
Sidechain Fix?
Electronic music is my wheelhouse and my house is many years in the making… I love this app. Something about it has me hooked. That said I’m having an issue with the effects routing, specifically I cannot get the side-chain channel to work at all. It’s there but nothing happens when I tap it. I understand what a sidechain is and how to use it btw. Please fix this! Thank you!

Dieses AU3v ist unter Loopy Pro 2.0 auf dem IPad 11 nicht ohne Fehlermeldung zu laden. Wenn der Platzhalter angelegt wurde und Loopy neu gestartet wird, lädt die App. Wenn im laufenden Betrieb die App dazu geladen werden soll, tut sie das nicht. Auch beim Versuch Presets zu laden, Absturz der App
Great app but room for improvement
To be honest, this is really a good app.Of course it's very much like koala sampler, in fact I think the gap between them is definitely not as big as it is now.My personal feeling is that the main problem with this app is the UI and interaction, and too many things in front of it make it complicated to operate.If the developers can reintegrate the UI and menus to make the app more intuitive, it will be even better.Be sure to join lazy chop BTW.

This app doesn’t go to landscape mode on iPhone…..and NO option to use midi auv3
Bit of a Learning curve but better, more complete and more complete than any other sampler on iOS.
I’ve used multiple DAWS, apps, and software to make music for over 15 years. Dawnbeat takes it back to the days of the workhorse quirky programming that produced the SP-303 and other legendary machines. There’s a steep learning curve currently. But It is clearly a passion project to make the most complete sampler on the AppStore with plenty of flair. You get all the features you would expect from modern samplers such as auto chopping and a slew of onboard effects. But you also get Au app integration included. No 3rd party link needed. Also if you forgot to press record. It automatically can load the last bit of jamming you did. Definitely not as easy to use as Koala but my god is there more charm and functionality included.

Very satisfied
This app is genuinely amazing. I’m just a teenager who likes chopping up cool sounds and I’m inspired by artists like DOOM and Kanye but I’m not using this for anything commercial. I’m simply wasting my time and I’ve spent HOURS on this app and it is nearly perfect. It’s got great filters and stuff. My only issue is that it crashes sometimes when I try to zoom in on a chop. I would also like to see some more features like allowing a soundpad to stop when another one is played or something like that to stop overlap but other than that this app is great. It has nearly everything that a paid one would have
Glitchy
This app has good features and works well with the sound but it’s super glitchy every time my screen turns off I have to frickin restart the app because it won’t play the song when I turn it back on and it crashes way too often

I thought I found a reason not to buy an sp404 when I started playing with this but I guess that dream was short lived, I put 3 samples from my videos into this thing and 3 AUs and it starts crashing literally 2 seconds into the app being used, PLEASE do not buy this until the devs fix their stupid app. This was so promising but it’s immensely disappointing that the features you have to pay money for ( AUs ) are the reasons you’re never able to use the app again.
Ts amazing
I love it. It’s an actually good functioning daw and free! Only thing I don’t like is if a sample starts playing you can’t stop it it plays until it’s over unless I change jt to only play when I hold it. If you could have a button to stop all audio that would make dis 5 stars. That’s my only complaint but is enough for -1 star. Overall tho amazing app

It’s a great app like because you can record and take it to a piano, BUT I wish I was able to put multiple fingers on the Piano and I wish it was a little bigger. But overall good app

Coming to eat Koala
Luis, you need to add an auv3 plugin version and allow custom backgrounds then you’ll be on your way to catch that Koala! You’re already 1 step ahead with auv3 hosting. Tip: Use tap and hold to move some of your context menus closer to their function. E.g Sequencer edits and pad modes. The default pad repeat is mostly useless and would be better utilised for 2-finger long press menus or swipe up/down. Also, you should find/replace “Dragbeat” in your code 😉
Beautiful UI but needs to be polished
I’ll start off by saying this app is beautiful out the box it gives off a dope vibe but the mechanics of this beat making machine is very in need of a touch up I would almost certain switch from koala to Dawnbeat if the process wasn’t so extra and I think that’s what koala dis so well was how not extra and straight to the point it is however this app has some issues that I’m hoping will eventually be fixed or changed 1. There’s no choke button in the sampler page meaning you have to individually choke each sample and the navigation to that option is super out the way it took me a few minutes to find it 2. As a sampler I was hoping there would be more sampling freedom however when I think of sampler I think of the first one I ever used which was sliceX on FL studio super basic straight to the point you add slice markers and drag and drop samples you slice however the one on dawn beat is very extra for no reason at all you can’t individually add marker points to my knowledge there are two styles of sampling you can do one of them in my opinion is useless so for me there is only one way to sample and the only way to increase markers is to slide this bar to populate but how would I know how many I need in the first place also the bars that populate are dotted lines and look a little ugly to me but that’s just my personal opinion 3. Recording and sequencing samples recording is easy sequencing seems easy enough but when it comes to samples it’s either you find the exact bpm for your samples or good luck to my knowledge and observation there is not time stretch that can match up your sample to the bars/beats Those are just a few things I can think off the top of my head other than that the app is pretty dope I won’t say I regret spending money on this app I see it more as an investment I truly believe this app could be a koala competitor it just needs a little extra love and care so I’m excited to see over time how it develops into the beat machine I know it’s capable of being!

As of the latest update Dawnbeat supports AUv3 as a player and Fx as well as hosting AUv3. Just wondering was the IAP Dawnbeat ‘Complete’ adds as it seems to have it all already?
Crashes
Every time I go to open my saved song it crashes (it also kept crashing while I was trying to program the sample pads…)
Great but connectivity as AUV3 doesn’t work
This app is wonderful. The only problem is it crashes quite a bit. can’t find away to play in AUM Be wonderful to fix this as great potential for beatmaking

The BRIIK feature makes it Better than MPC!!!
The best part of a mobile sample DAW is the ease of browsing your samples and easily adding them to the pads (simply tap to hear and drag to a pad). Ableton One is pretty nice. DP24 is pretty good too. The bank load feature of MPC is real dope and has one up on Dawnbeats in that way. But when its comparison of everything you need in a mobile DAW (FLS mobile notwithstanding)with easy browsing and an intuitive setup (plus the HIGHLY adaptive and flexible bluetooth MIDI control), for me Dawnbeats is the future of mobile app sample DAWs. I’ve been using this app for about a month now and it’s simply is the best I’ve ever seen for sample drumming. The BRIIK feature is what sets it apart from any other sample mobile sample DAW application. Well, there are no instructions for this feature and the help menu., I quickly figured out how to use it and where it’s strengths lie. It quite simply is the hallmark of the whole app if you ask me.
Unstable
A powerful sampler that’s extremely unstable. Often times audio will quit working mid project and the app will crash without warning. Projects will also corrupt and be unable to open with no chance of recovery whatsoever. Songs will sometimes bug due to the compression causing a constant nonstop buzzing noise. Sections of samples will go mute for no reason after saving with no way to undo. I’ve left so many beats using this app because of how unstable it is.
New King of samplers
We all know which sampler this just knocked off from the top of ios beat making. Everything is dope and seems to be stable. The inclusion of auv3 just but this app in a league of its own. I do have a few suggestions though, one is a dedicated mixer button next to the (pad,sequencer,effects) section. I know that holding the pad + selected pad brings down the mixer but I still think it would be great to have a dedicated button in view without diving into the tools menu. 2nd would be a delete button on the wave edit page. Having to menu dive to delete a sample is awkward. I know you can just drag and drop a new sample and it would erase the old but sometimes a delete button is all you need. One bug I did notice is that when you turn the pad into poly mode is that it no longer responds to the wave edit functions like volume change or panning. I’m not sure if this is a bug or there is another work around for it but it doesn’t seem like it should be that way. 10/15/2023 The AUTO chop definitely needs improvement. You need to be able to add your own chops and I noticed that if you don’t move the first line to show the 0 chop then you will have a blank pad with just noise since chops start at 0 but for some reason the zero slice won’t show until you slide the first line. Also if you try moving a pad with a AUV3 into a mixer channel it will crash so it’s better to just select pad then hit the main channel selector in the adjust section and pick which channel you would like that pad to be in.
It looks perfect but keeps crashing
For what i can tell it looks like an amazing music app...but it keeps crashing when i try to add sounds...crashing every time i try to add a sound from audioshare...crashing most times ( sometimes it works) while adding sounds from either my folder or the included sound libraries...i wish this can be fixed...i really think i could enjoy this app...its exactly what i was looking for...but as it is ...its useless... Can you help me? Thanks
Nice user friendly sampler
It’s a really nice, easy to use, intuitive sampler. I got started on this sampler, but couple of issues prevented me from using it extensively. 1. When screen locks it loses sound, though app is running. On unlocking, sound doesn’t start and app has to be restarted. I have been noticing this lately, so may be os upgrade is causing it. 2. I cannot figure out how to export edited sample to save in wav format to use in other software. Not sure if it is possible to do or not.
