Formatting doesn’t work with iPhone mini
I subscribe because I think Haaretz does excellent reporting, but I can’t get the app to work on my phone. The overlay ads are impossible to close because the “x” button lies outside my small screen.
Good content, bad app
Unacceptable to have pop up ads before going to content for such an expensive subscription. Half the time the pop up cannot be closed. How is it that a country that can precisely target Iranian generals in their beds can’t build a decent app?
Why is the loading screen still a flashbang when the app is set to "dark mode"

Buggy navigation
App version 5.90 (May 2025) navigating back from wherever you are (article, menu, sub-menu, reading list, etc.) navigating you double back. It makes it a super bad experience. Such an obvious and easy to detect bug shouldn’t have made it into production. Please improve your app quality.
Great Paper. Annoying app
Haaretz is a bold and crucial voice of journalism and free speech, but the app itself has become very annoying. Although I pay (a lot) to subscribe, I have to view an annoying ad covering everything each time I open the app. It’s often hard to figure out how to dismiss the ad. This is a bad way to treat your subscribers.
Rare source of news
I am a proud Palestinian in diaspora. I find this news source to be a rare honest and factual source of news about the occupied Palestinian land, otherwise known as Israel. Western news outlets do not even try to hide their lies about Palestine, Haaretz shines through those dark times. It is, however, very disappointing that it requires a subscriptions I will get this news source from Apple News instead of paying a hefty subscription fee. Please continue with the honest news reporting and u covering the crimes committed by Israel against the Palestinians and their stolen land.
Pop up ads? Really?
I pay about $20 a month for a Haaretz subscription in both English and Hebrew. So please explain to me why I have to sit through pop-up gaming ads to access articles that I’ve already paid to read like they’re Grindr profiles. Although I hate them, I understand and can tolerate the periodic banner ads (journalism ain’t cheap!). But timed pop-up ads? That’s a slap in the face to your paying subscribers. Please don’t waste our time like that. It only gives us more time to contemplate unsubscribing.

Need to set the cookies every couple of weeks. No way to reject all so you have to do it individually. @Haaretz why can’t this be adjusted.
Great news outlet but awful app
App does what it wants. I keep getting news flashes of old articles I already read. I also can easily navigate to certain articles. There seem to be 2 main options for navigation but it’s hard to find your way away from those 2 pages. Can’t always open images up to see captions. Sometimes when you click on a news flash in the live updates it takes you to whatever it fancies showing you. The writing gets 4.5 out of 5 but the app gets 0!

I bought my subscription to read about events in Israel. To read those articles, I must first get rid of advertising. But the ads do not stop. So I rarely have an easy read, sometimes no read at all. Yet, I need complete news coverage.
Gideon Levy is the most honest journalist in Israel!
I subscribe to Ha’aretz mainly to read the brilliant articles written by the great, the humane, the ELOQUENT, Gideon Levy. Yes, I am proud to call Mr. Levy a friend, and, I am thrilled that Ha’aretz sees that he is an INTERNATIONAL TREASURE! May God bless Gideon Levy and his loved ones and may God protect Ha’aretz!
Non-Accessible on iPad
I cannot access Haaretz app because there is no way to close the popup ad for chair yoga. I pay money for this?
English/Hebrew versions
Might be nice if at least some of the lead articles are the same—the audiences aren’t completely different, are they?
Pop up ads seriously interfere with reading
Paid subscriptions to this paper don’t guarantee you can read it. The app is a problem. It is impossible to read an article from start to finish without pop up ads blocking news content.
Up to date but too many ada
I bought the yearly digital subscription for while I am out of the country. It is constantly updating what's happening in the country. My only down side is the constant ads. Whats the point in spending so much money if its ads that i have to always ex out of. This could use a little work.
Left wing Views
As a centrist, I like to read views on both sides. While this definitely leans left, I think they do so fairly. Easy to navigate app.
Stuck on Advertisement
The app starts by displaying an that cannot be dismissed. I am a subscriber and can’t get past the advertisement.
Annoying checks
It makes me renter my details one time in two, I find that very annoying. Why can’t they just remember my details?
Poor
Negatives: doesn’t work off line, constant adverts despite it not being free (more than one while reading one article), often closes, poor to navigate, articles so long it’s hard to tell the difference between facts and opinion. Positive: audio versions of articles available
Netanyahu trial
I find the factual coverage of this trial to date unsatisfactory. As a foreigner (Jewish) very interested in what is going on. I seek current reports on what is happening day-by-day with the occasional analytical article giving broad perspective. I haven’t a clue what has happened on the opening days. Please fix.
Haaretz app review
I have been a subscriber for a long time. Lately I started noticing adds that appeared whenever I read an article. This is a relatively new finding. They are quite bothersome and they should not be sent to subscribers.
Worst digital news app Login for PAID!
Constant reoccurring problems over 3 different subscriptions over the years. I had cancelled my subscription two times previously because of login problems with paid subscription. I tried it again because I really wanted to have more insight into Israel viewpoints. Once again i paid for a one year subscription and downloaded the app and lo and behold I can’t login as the page is not operable for input. Technical Incompetence? It’s a reoccurring issue with Haaretz.

I love Haaretz so I’m giving it a high rating! It won’t get five stars because the app is simple, filled with annoying ads, and frankly the layout and design is quite sophomoric

Everything I get from friends applauds Israel’s every move. Since no nation is perfect, I am now hearing about Israel worts and all. Does not make me love the nation any less.

have a subscription, yet constantly asks me to sign in. canceling five days after subscribing. moving to a different Israeli news source. Haaretz, you need to up your digital game. your product is terrible.

Excellent writing
Not subscribed yet. Enjoying my free articles. But I am hooked on the timely and fact finding news reported by the authors. Human interest articles are so enlightening. It seems I learn so much about the area. Having friends living just north ofTel Aviv keeps me glued to the content.
What happened to the iPad app?
Very annoyed that I’m being forced to this app for an update from the iPad app. This one is not optimized for the iPad.
Content good GUI not
The iPad app does not display well - spoils the experience of otherwise good content.
Why does it turn off Spotify?
Not happy that Spotify is shut down if I open this app. There is no need for this under normal circumstances. So what is the purpose? And the ability to comment on articles and other comments has recently gone very buggy.
Good but Shaky Journalism
We need a left-leaning voice in the press, and Haaretz is a good option. However, unlike the New York Times, Haaretz mixes news and opinion, which lowers one’s trust in its accuracy. Still—the best liberal voice on Israeli affairs.
Critical News Read
Critical perspective on news reporting for an international audience. I read the financial times front to back. Yet, I’m always drawn to the multiple perspectives of this news source. Critical analysis is provided on such a wide array of topics. But, the biggest surprise is the added articles on latest archeological news in the whole area which seems to spring up in every corner. The details on excavation sites has been amazing on the actual artifacts details/history along with current plans and/or modern construction issues. Incredible.
Great paper - terrible app
The app is one of the worst apps I’ve ever encountered. It freezes constantly. Feeds up endless ads. And won’t let me sign into my subscription - so I am constantly bombarded with pop-ups prompting me to subscribe. Absolutely terrible! Aren’t Israeli some of the best technologists in the world?? Why can’t you build a better app?

Pop up ads?!?!
The new app version has improvements in some areas, but now includes pop up ads!!! Not only on loading but also while clicking in other parts. At this point there's no good reason to have the app installed. You might as well use a good browser app. And I say this as a subscriber. Plus, the app limits you to two hundred characters if you want to explain a problem. Well, then I have to review it to have more space.

Such a frustrating UX
The app is so poorly built that I can’t believe it comes from Israeli engineers who are usually the most competent software developers. Even though I am a paid subscribed user, the app constantly asks me to login when clicking on articles. An article catches my eye and then I am blocked from reading it.
What's missing?
Why is the supplement "gallery" not included in this iPad version?

Great news outlet but irritating app
It's a great news outlet however when you download the app you have to register to be able to read the articles. Not very user friendly

Cannot log in!
I have had a Haaretz subscription for many years. Thought I would try the app. Right for the start it was clearly not the way to go. Before I got any news I was swamped with ads. (I definitely do not read Haaretz to view ads!) Then I was asked to log in. But when I tried to click that button nothing happens. This app is not a masterpiece of Israeli technology! I’ll be returning to the old fashioned web version. Very disappointed.
