Provident app
The app takes a very long time to load when you are not at home, or it just keeps spinning.
Not completely user friendly
A bit primitive. Also when paying the credit card it does not distinguish clearly between the Minimum Payment, The Statement Balance, and the Total Balance. You have to pull a statement. Which in this era you should have a button for each option of payment. And with immaculate credit and cards with no limit and a credit score over 800 this is one of my oldest credit cards since 2015 and have never gotten a credit line increase. And it’s 2026. I just keep it for the history. I never use it any more because of the lack of trust.
Better than before
There are simple things this app does not do. For one, I cannot set up a recurring payment from my checking to my credit card account, and the payment options are either the minimum due or the full balance, not the statement balance. To set up ebills for the credit card, I have to enter my password for the credit card—which is the same password I used to open the app except I don’t remember it because I use Face ID. And, surprise, the app does not allow me to use Face ID to enter my own again.
Transfer
It took a few times to figure out why my card wasn’t activated and locked but everyone I spoke to was very kind and I think you should close at 2p there is no reason to be open till 4p on Saturdays!
Worst banking app
Just use SOFI. This app is slow and terrible to use.

Always “on maintenance”, very glitchy, need a copy of statement asap and unable to get one because of issues, it always says “try again next time”.
Decent app need URI
The app works decent enough, one thing I wish is that my password manager would autofill my login like it does for every other app I own. Can the developer please send the URI that the app uses so I can use my password manager to autofill my login?

Broken (again)
I generally think the app is pretty good. They UI could be better, but most of the information I need can be found without too much effort. My issue is that it fails often after updates. The current issue (which has occurred before) is that I can’t use the check deposit function. The “touch the screen to capture an image” does not work at all. Therefore I can’t deposit my check. There are other areas in which the ability to tap the buttons does not work. Hopefully, these issues will get resolved soon.
Terrible App
In this day and age of mobile banking apps and improved security, it amazes me just how bad this Provident Credit Union app has been. Not only is the mobile app terrible slow, and the mobile deposit either don’t work or takes forever, the website is also bad. The website is also very slow, and periodically calculates the wrong balance on my accounts. Come on Provident, you can do better that this!

Stay Away Worst Banking App Ever
This is by far the worst banking app I have ever encountered! Low interest rates on your savings and poor banking app is what you get. having been a customer for many years of Provident credit union I’m appalled that they would put this piece of garbage out for customers even after multiple multiple complaints and feedback they’ve done nothing to try to fix it. It takes 5 to 7 attempts minimum to login crashing each time then finally after trying again and again you get another text message for another code, even though you’ve logged in and then it suddenly crashes again! clearly Provident credit union is a cheap bank that just wants to provide the cheapest possible app to provide their customers with not only a garbage app, but the lowest interest rates. As soon as I can, I will be moving to another bank and I suggest you do not use this credit union you want to call i…..don’t be fooled. Stay away from!

If you have an emergency to see your funds or transfer you need patience. It slow and the Zelle transfers are a pain, I wish it was like other apps where Zelle is super fast and you can log in quick.

Provident removed the account total from the app, rendering it partially useless.

Provident has been my credit union since I was a kid. Everyone is so patient and supportive. I especially appreciate how diligent they are in matters of security and verification.

The phone app has been entirely way too slow and not responsive these past few months. (Update) I’ve redownloaded this app so many times and still just stuck on the loading screen. I’m tired of having to figure out ways to make this app work. It’s 2026 get some good engineers to make this app work.

The Provident CU app is super slow to load and sometimes just gets stuck. The account money transfer function is good.

Using this app feels like punishment
I love Provident as a credit union but it’s incredible how terrible their app is. Logging in a slog. You could probably drive to a location in the time it takes to load. And forget mobile check deposit, the app will refuse to scan one side of the check. Sometimes I get wistful for Wells Fargo just because of their app.

slow and doesn't work half the time
mobile depositing checks works 1/4 of the time, and when it does work it takes 10 minutes per check. The ui is constantly glitching and showing error codes when using the camera. Logging into the app has taken me 17 minutes, on my wifi at home. HOW IS IT POSSIBLE FOR AN APP IN THIS DAY AND AGE TO BE SO BAD

My dad opened an account for me when I was a kid back when Provident Credit Union was the California Teachers Association Credit Union. The services and terms for accounts are good and I like not supporting the giant mega-banks.

The Provident CU app is, unfortunately, very disfuncional. Everything about it is poorly designed or made, from the log in process to the actual online banking portion of it. Not only the app looks outdated but every action I try to with it fails. I can’t even do transfers to external banks without having issues. Truly a pain in the rear end. The mobile banking experience has been so frustrated that it has me considering closing my account with Provident altogether as I DO NOT want to go out of my way to visit a branch to do simple transactions that the app should be able to do. The developer team behind this app needs to do a total overhaul.
