No Zelle
I don’t have the option to use Zelle I contacted customer support twice, and both times they promised to fix everything the next day. It’s been a month since I opened the accounts, and this bug still hasn’t been fixed.
The name change is terrible.
There was NO reason to change the name to Monterra credit Union. The original name was The San Mateo Employees Credit Union. This name represents all those hard working individuals in San Mateo County. Then it was shortened to San Mateo Credit Union. Understandable. BUT whomever decided the name Monterra CU , so does that mean this bank is in Monterra , California? The original name shows history and class. Even the abbreviated name was good. I hope the suckass who came up with this name feels real good. I’d love to meet that person and tell them what a STUPID name . However the employees are the best.

Disappointed in latest update
With the latest update, the Dashboard option no longer functions. It takes you instead to Account View, which doesn’t have the option to label expenses and income. The only option is to leave a new memo. Disappointed!!
Check deposit camera
Months ago for the 1st time I submitted a picture during a mobile check deposit. The photo was accepted and deposit added to my account. Then 2 weeks later the money was subtracted without any notice. I saw the debit and called accounting. They said the picture was partially blurry and they couldn’t read a section of the picture. Then why was it accepted? I have an account at other banks and their mobile app will reject the photo right away and tell you to re submit a new pic. This only happened once, but there is a way to improve your service. Both in the way the algorithm reads vital info of the check virtually so it would prevent the check from being submitted before it has this info and policy wise, a member of the staff should always reach out to a member by phone email or at least text before reversing the transaction, so no one is inconvenienced in this manner. It only happened once after 100’s of deposits, but it was a negative experience that should be fixed. When I kindly reported this to a staff member, I was rudely told that things your policy and that you all don’t do personalized banking. Whatever that meant. My two cents…

Tired of useless.
Terrible bank, not helpful at all, staff is usually not knowledgeable, they make any interaction as painful as possible from credit cards to getting my own money. Taking my money elsewhere ASAP.

Zelle issue
Only thing I notice is that when trying to send money through Zelle on the app i get a message “ Unable to process transaction. We're sorry, but your payment or request could not be processed. As a result, your account balance will not be affected. Please try Select sagain later.omplete. Which is annoying since I don’t know if it’s Zelle or the Monterra banking app.

Zelle stopped working
I’ve had this bank for a little over a year now. Zelle stopped working for the past several months and it’s tied to the banking app so I can’t even use the actual Zelle app. Looking at other reviews, other people have this problem and Monterra does not seem intent on changing it. It’s a shame that I’ll switching to another bank due to this issue.

The SMCU has great services ever expanding to meet the needs of the customers. It is a great asset to the people of San Mateo county having started as an employee credit union.
Spammy bank
They spam you with so much email, but you can unsubscribe only for 3 months from promotions. No option to track your subscription/alerts/etc in the app too. What a shame.

App is great but i try to use zelle to send money but it tells me that my bank app has zelle but i can’t find it anywhere

I need zelle for important transactions. The zelle function hardly works in this app. I am forced to use it in this banking app. Please fix this issue.
