Yb Tracking
The YB Tracking app has added a new level of interest in the PH Mackinac for my friends and very amusing Apple tv viewing in the winter. Too much fun. Thank you. By far it is my favorite app. Yes, we follow ourselves up and down.
Next to useless
As others have noted, this app is next to useless. The controls on the “new” viewer are horrible, and the legacy was barely passable to begin with. Nothing scales properly, and trying to rotate your screen to get some improvement somehow works even worse. If you can, try to use the website which is at least “ok.”

Very unstable app
This app is gradually getting less stable. Lack of development and updates is showing with various usability issues being encountered. For example (using the RORC Myth of Malham race) the app has frozen 3 times during zoom. It now only loads with a blank page or displays the map but is locked. Yellow Brick you need to do more work on this as it won’t cope with the Fastnet 2023.
Good… but could be better!
Not the best UI… maps would really benefit from the provision of some sort of scale so you can get a feel for the gap between boats and start/finish points.
Great tool and service for regatta management
We have used YB Tracking service for races over several years. The app works well to help monitor the events and for race fans to follow the action. Customer service is always great too.
Trash
The app version will not let you read notes about boats that have retired, but when you go to the web version on an iOS device to try to read the notes there, it won’t let you as you need to use the app. They’ve now tried to fix this with their new race viewer, but after looking at 3 boats in the Fastnet Race Tracker, it crashes.
Decent
Seems good so far - nice tidy app. Would be great to ‘favourite’ certain teams though - can’t see how to do that, or if functionality exists.
Terrible app
One of the most prestigious races in the world, and an app that does not keep up. There is a reason this clunky crap is free.
Freeze
Frequent freeze on iPad Pro M1. All Ok on iphone 12 pro. Please fix this to get 5*

Easy to use and free. Also works perfectly for the World Arc!
They ruined it.
New update is unusable, cannot click on a boat to save your life and glitches out when you try to use it. No one asked for a 3D viewer!!
Let us choose group
I enjoy the app however, I would prefer to choose the group it am following versus eliminating all the groups I don't want to follow
Zoom keeps resetting
I am trying to zoom in and follow one team, why does the zoom keep resetting?
Kinda functional, poor user interface design
I appreciate this is a free app and by and large it works ok. However there’s no obvious way to remove races you’re no longer interested in, which reflects a generally poor user experience. I’ve also noticed that I will sometimes have to launch the app three or four times before it actually works.
Chicago to Mackinac 2017
I was able to follow our friends boat on this race for about 24 hours. Great app! Great fun!
Destroyed
This may be the single worst update to an app since apps began. Unfortunately a good product ruined.
A Good App
The apps well and have been using it to follow Clipper 13-14. The only reason it doesn't get 5 stars is that it is not very iPad friendly, but works well on iPhone.
Confusing
I cant make heads or tails of the listing for races. No explanation of what the column headings are and i they mixed data types in the table cells. Nice visuals and didn't crash for me as some complained. But hard to tell what some of it means.
Good MVP, opportunities for improvement
I’m happy to see more races converging towards this tracking app. However, some improvements need to be made to enhance the user interface. For instance: - the density of wind direction arrows should adapt to the scale of the map (currently when zooming out, the maps gets entirely covered with arrows); - settings should be conserved for the next visit; - the home button should take us straight to the home page instead of asking for confirmation; - time to the next update of boat positions should be provided on the map. I'm following the London- Cape Town world record attempt. Loving the app. I've become addicted to checking the progress obsessively throughout the day. I look at the lads speed and where they are, then zoom out to see where they are in the current country. The history bar at the base is also interesting. On this particular journey it would have been informative to see the accumulative distance travelled.
Weak app
App locks/freezes after zooming in or switching between functions. Example, look up team, stats, go to map and locks up. Not user friendly. Needs work.
Vendee Globe
I can’t understand why the Vendee Globe, the most impressive and important race along with the Golden Globe isn’t part of the listing. That’s a major mistake. I hope you guys will fix this as soon as possible, as the race started already 5 days ago. I would have rated this app much higher if I could find the Vendee Globe among all the races you follow.
Maybe not great, but usable & darn handy on phone!!

I love this app!
The app works great and is an excellent way to follow the races. Like any app you have to learn its tricks, but it works like a charm. I don't understand the criticism about price. It's a relief to be able to pay a fair price for an online experience and have to worry about privacy issues. I wish my favorite online haunts even gave me that option. Kudos to the yb team! N.B. This rating interface is horrible- text disappears as I type and I keep having to manually insert "return." I don't recall rating an app before so I have no idea what it's going to look like.
Made me lose interest in following the race.
Thought this was a refined product from my recollection of past races, but apparently no longer. This makes it not worth following. Glad I am not a sponsor of this race, as it would be a waste of my dollars.
Buggy
I won’t complain about the lack of features relative to the “desktop” (web) version. But given the minimal feature set, those features should actually work. Any time the app loses focus, you lose your race tracking. “Error: Sorry there was a problem loading this race - please try again.” Funny because there wasn’t a problem 2 seconds ago when I last had the app open... Usability is also a bit wonky. It uses the universal symbol of “search” (magnifying glass) as the zoom button. Not sure how many times I’ve hit it hoping it’d search for a boat I’m tracking. Nope, that’s the “Teams” tab. Find your boat then figure out the concentric circle icon means to highlight the boat back on the map. Get the basics right then we can talk about the features it lacks relative to the website.
Crashes, Twitchy, But Only App of Its Kind
On iPhone SE, YB is twitchy and crashed often. Not even close to the usefulness of the desktop version.

Great for tracking plus a very helpful support team that responds and solves any issues. Top app.
Super buggy
This app would be great if it didn’t crash. It’s almost totally unusable for all of the races that I did this year since it crashes almost immediately. Last year it worked pretty well.
Race tracking
Every time I login, I have a terrible time trying to find my particular boat. I do not know what to do to be able to track my particular boat

App is great, but I want it on all my devices, will not pay $2.99 for each device, please confirm it can be restored to all my devices.
Update and customer service
Updated this morning and nothing would work 😠. Emailed the company and got a response shortly after (on a Sunday as well!). Nick worked through the problems I was having with the app, even offering a refund if the suggested fixes didn't work. It took a while but we finally got there... Great customer service 😀
Basically useless
This app is terrible. It lacks any features that would let me follow the team I want to keep track of in a race other than that they still exist.
Could be better
It worked on my iPhone 6+. I was able to track my 2 friends racing in KOH most of the day. Please make the zoom function also make the car numbers get bigger. I needed a microscope to read them. It would also help if you could label some of the main geographics such as "main pit", "back door", "chocolate thunder" so I could orient

Worst app ever to follow sailing races
Following a sailing race from the armchair is all about understanding what is happening on the course and on each vessel; it is all about data: wind, currents, and boat speed and course, comparing these data in a specific time range give the juice of it. Well NONE, absolutely noneof this is doable in this horrendous app, wind representation is absolutely horrible. Using this app is a continuous accidental jibe! Stop it!
Make it easier to use
Can you please make it easier to select the teams. To have to go in and Unselect all the sections is a hassle. Plus it does not stick when you reload it. Make it easy and make it the same as viewing the leaderboards
Must pay to see live races but free to see on computer
Not so good that you can get the live race updates on the web for free but must pay for them on the App.
Yellowbrick arc coverage
Disappointing to find that the £1.99 iPad app for the ARC Race lacks many of the features that are on the free Internet version.
The worst version yet
I’d give it zero stars if I could. I’ve been using this app to track the Chicago Mac Race for years and this is by far the worst version yet. These are my top three issues: 1) You cannot save favorite teams, you have to go through the process of finding your teams every time you open the app. 2) You cannot tag a boat and have it highlighted on the map. 3) You cannot select and follow a single boat within a team, you have to see all of them. You’ve done much better in the past, fix this for next year!
Free app/$$ races
They should tell you that virtually all the races are purchases.
Bit basic
Love the idea of this app but needs more thought. Majority of people want to follow a small number of boats within the fleet as friends or family are racing on them. There is no facility to create a group of favourites to follow and finding the boat or boats you are interested in is clumsy to say the least - was going to purchase this years Fastnet but will out the features mentioned above I will not be bothering - shame
