Frustrating
I find it near impossible to get basic up to date news and info. There was nothing about the aborted racing in NY yesterday. You want to be the F1 of sailing. Copy that app.
Req: Vision Pro Support
Really good advancements with Tabletop AR. Would love to see it come to visionOS for a more immersive experience.
Almost there
1. In landscape mode, the app only allowed me the view from one boat. No other telemetry. No clue how to change the view as it was not responding to swipes. I deleted the app but decided to give it another try. The next time I tried to access a replay it came up in portrait mode with the rest of the telemetry available. 2. View from the boats is a mostly useless and very tight perspective from the front looking backwards. The view we want is from the back looking forward and a fairly broad angle of view to provide context. 3. Changing views by swipe is slow and enormously inconvenient. No choice of view, just keep swiping… and waiting for the windows to reset… until you get a particular view. And then stay with it because it’s such a pain the behind to get to the other one you want. Why not drop downs to select the view for each window? 4. The app tells me I can opt out of cookies and tracking but then provides me with no obvious way to do that.

Great sailing
Looking forward to reviewing the highlights when they are loaded.
Help
Need good information about the next race. Who is in & crew available? Not ticket news for LA California. E-mail is worthless.
iPad issues
I used this app on both phone and iPad and it was fantastic on phone. Only problem however was when I tried watching a race on iPad, the button to direct to the race page didn’t seem to work. I hope this gets fixed but a fantastic app other than that.
Gute Idee lau umgesetzt
Synchronisation schlecht, Privacy optionen gaanz mies. unübersichtlich, mehrwert fraglich.
New app very clunky
Love the sport, which means the app is super awesome. However, it’s really slow to load anything and often states that I have no internet. Few bugs to sort? If we could speed it up that would be great. Not used to the 16k load times anymore. Haha
Losing touch
Both myself and my brother were extremely disappointed with not being able to see the start of the new season on utube Unlike last year.
Disappointing
Slow to load. Difficult to avoid pointless pages when trying to get to updates. More often than no new stories have no text displayed. Freezes. All in all a disappointment given Sail GP is so high tech
Very hard to connect to in New Zealand
A software company should make life easier to connect to
Casting problems
Spotty operation when casting to TV . Sometimes I can cast to AppleTV and sometimes no. Option just not there and very frustrating.
Results?
Why is it so difficult to find the results of the last round? Given these events often happen in the middle of the night, having the results easily to hand would be high on my wish list. I can find the season rankings. But not the results of the Fleet races and finals from the day before. Put it behind a Spoiler Alert notice but at least have the option of finding the latest results.
News broken on new version
Two big problems 1. After reading a news article user is returned to top of news list, even if very deep in the list. Most scroll all the way down again. Painful of catching up on old news. 2. After watching one of the video entries and returning to the news list, it is no longer possible to scroll through the new list - seems to be frozen.
What is the purpose of this?
If you want to see what’s happening with SailGP don’t use this app. It just does something with points (?).
Start time discrepancies
There were start time discrepancies in different parts of the app
Enjoy SailGP, don’t enjoy this app
I find it frustrating that for an app that doesn’t have a ton of features for interaction, I absolutely HAVE to keep the app up to the latest version in order to view the main hub. Next, I received notification that racing would commence in an hour, log in to find that it’s 2d1h… try to report a bug, or notify support, no method to do so. So here I am reporting a bug, as well as odd app practices, as a review. From one dev to another I’d rather do this privately.

Great when you don’t have to login
Does’t work
Creating an account is required and it gets stuck loading during the creation process.
Sail GP
The graphics are excellent giving live info on individual boats speed and their place on the race course.
Overloaded
Generally a good App with great images and design, but this definitely kills usability and load times are awfully long even for basic information like the leaderboard.
Fast and Furious on water.
Went to Sydney this year to experience this year. Enjoyed every second. Will be back for season 4.
Complete garbage
The irony that sailing is so high tech and yet they can’t get a simple app to work is embarrassing. You can’t access the app without having an account, but they can’t figure out how to let you create an account. Thus the app is 100% useless and does not provide any value.
Failed to initialise
Since update app now saying that I don’t have internet and not initialising. App support link in App Store only opens the SailGP website with no noticeable app support area/tab so pretty pointless in that respect. Otherwise, when it worked for 2022 events so far it was pretty good. So deleted the app, reinstalled and working well again. Developers got back to me fairly quickly also to try and rectify.
Where to set language?
Where to switch from french to English?
Best app ever to exist
I love this app so much
Seriously buggy account creation and log-in
Would love to use the app, but something is seriously buggy with the account creation and log-in. You create an account and password only to have it tell you repeatedly that there’s an error. I know SailGP is trying to grow and increase fan engagement, but they’re never going to get there with issues like this. Uninstalled the app since I never got to actually use it. Needs improvement.
Mostly good
This app is quite slick, but it needs a few things… AirPlay support or chrome cast support Improve navigation for finding the race replay Fix the buffering issue when you go forward more than a few minutes
Depth of Information
This app is absolutely incredible and FREE. I can’t wrap my head around the amount of camera angles, in-race information, and explanations on various telemetry it provides for free. Very clean interface and it works quickly. Incredible incredible app. Probably one of the best apps I’ve ever seen.
Upgrade?
This latest upgrade rendered the app unavailable!
Race replays: 1st day great, but where’s 2nd day?
I’m trying to catch up with the series before Cowes. The Sydney and San Francisco first day replays are great. However, I don’t see how to find the second days of racing for those cities.
Works Well!
This App has loads of features and works very well on an iPad. Rotating the screen shows everything very clearly.
Abysmal performance
App spins around uselessly never connecting. Do NOT waste your time with it. Just visit the SailGP website, that runs fine.
Actually worked really well!!! But....
App was really good but its biggest problem was that it was just too data hungry for a mobile network! It was constantly freezing and the cause of the freeze was pretty obvious... the video.... When you could get something happening it was great, but for someone actually watching the races, it wasn’t a very complementary experience... Would highly recommend providing the opportunity to remove the video from the display and possibly add a few more data points. Perhaps even a simple comparative summary screen... speed vs heading and current wind speed for all six boats..... Perhaps the next level up from that is rather than the video of the umpires view, is it possible to provide the actual animation... with some zoom capability.... it was impossible to see as it was... it was so small on both phone and tablet...and added to the bandwidth issues... Oh, and the guy who complained about the high pitched whine in the audio??? It’s the sound of the boats/foils in the water!!!! Overall, held held high guys.. it is a great app!!!
Cool App
Very cool app, great footage of sailing, many cameras and you can choose your angle. #zarmy
Crashes at login
I have this app on my phone and it’s great but on the iPad it just crashes after trying to log in. All support links just take me to irrelevant pages.
Great app, needs some polish.
The actual viewing experience is nice, with multicam views and telemetry. I found myself viewing the FB stream on my TV through a connected MacBook, while using this app on an iPad in umpire view and and iPhone showing telemetry - usually split view with AUS & JPN, but changed telemetry to whichever boat was on the host broadcast a few times. Some minor quibbles follow. The Rolex countdown timer has been wrong until version 1.0.4, and there’s not enough localized information about when the live-streams will begin. The website’s watch page had confusing/conflicting information for most of the week. For Sydney Day 1, finally in version 1.0.4 of the app, there was an accurate countdown timer, but no start time in my time zone (or at all). Ever since the coverage of Day 1 ended and the replay became available, there is no countdown to Day 2 or start time, just the current time in Sydney and in my time zone in the Rolex banner on the bottom. This has made it difficult to plan our local club’s viewing party (Severn Sailing Association in Annapolis, MD, USA). On my iPhone XS Max, the video could not be zoomed to full the whole screen, and the home bar remained visible during the entire video (live and replay). As there’s no Apple TV app - why!? - one would think the Airplay experience would have been good. Sadly not. Since the app doesn’t support Airplaying the video, I had to resort to Airplay screen mirroring. Airplay screen mirroring to an LG OLED paired with an Apple TV 4K required me to manually zoom horizontally and vertically. The home bar was still visible at the bottom unless I zoomed in to remove that part of the video from the screen. App support for Airplay should fix this. I understand that smooth live-streaming to a large audience and drone live-streaming caps dictated a 720p live-stream. It would be nice for replays to be shown at up to 4K. It would be nice for app users to be able to temporarily zoom and pan the umpire view ourselves; after a few seconds of no pan/zoom activity, it could go back to whatever pan/zoom the umpires have selected. Thanks for a great experience so far!
