Blank screen, then content takes 3+ mins to load/when finally loaded all is in 'error format'
Excited to follow The Ocean Race Europe 2025, but.. After opening the app (for the 1st time) & after the prompt to determine whether to allow notifications, there was a blank screen with the TOR logo for about 3 mins, then all content loads in 'error format' in which the content is not formatted properly for app-form. Appearance is like a website loaded incorrectly. Web-browser version has no issues. Please fix this, guys, I'd love to follow along!
Not bad
Pretty good app, the things I like to look at are: - tracker - Results table (for more data than tracker) - some of the articles Not perfect, there are also plenty of what you could rudely call "BS marketing publicity" articles not aimed at anybody who knows anything about sailing.

Very disappointing
Been trying to figure this app out. I’m not too familiar with this years. Looked at the team listings to work out who to support but there is hardly anything in the summary on them. I’m confused by the two classes of boats but can’t find much on that either. It really is hard to work out what’s going on. Even the first in port race there is no link I can find to watch it, just a short summary video. It looks like it’s going to be really hard to get into this
Best way to stay up to date
The ‘17-‘18 Volvo Ocean race is on and this app is essential for keeping up with all the action.
Slow finish updates!
The finish of the 8th leg was a cliffhanger, especially the last hour. Why then update the DTL, DTF, etc. every 15 or so minutes? That's pathetic, I reckon.
Great content poor usability
Am I only the only one that has to turn my devices upside down to try and get the app to recognise the device's orientation? And why are some things portrait only by default (presumably related)? Super frustrating. Otherwise it's a great way to see and feel the action. So, thank you.

Needs work
The switch from the way the website and Apps were managed in 2014-15 is not an improvement. Go back and use the old platform and the analyze what you are trying to do and why it would improve the function, service and user experience. Now u have spotty coverage, poor live feeds, and a game app that doesn’t know if it shld be a money making tool or an fun devise that generates stickiness. It’s badly designed with weird algorithms that makes arbitrary decisions that make no sense to sailors. Start over and bring back the old team for the next leg.
Wrong format.
Having watched the previous races via the website and live I find the app frustrating. It is a very variable experience. The menu seems to change almost daily. Blog in. Blog out. Loading the ranking can freeze the app without actually completing. So you still don't know who is in the lead. Perhaps the biggest crime is that there are far less emails off the boats included than earlier internet only volvooceanrace websites. It is the voice of the crews that I most miss. That means I have to surf round to other platforms to try and find them. One hub is better than many.
Incorrect screen size iPhone 10
App doesn’t support the notch of iPhone 10. After turning back from landscape to portrait the menu buttons (hamburger) falls behind the time display.
Great start, need to update it for iPhone X
Unfortunately the app, particularly the video, doesn’t layout correctly on iPhone X. I end up having to browse YouTube for the videos, which is disappointing. Blog updates and the tracker work quite well.

Crashes often
I have an iPhone 5S. This ap locks up when I select video option and puts me in an endless loop of hitting "back to home" then the only way to recover is to delete the app off my phone and reload it from the App Store. Sometimes it does this when selecting other menu options as well. I've had to do this at least twice a day since the race started

A small video archive means that if you don’t keep up with the race in real time, watching on demand will mean missing large sections of the race. Enough to quit and wait for the next one.

Try to open any story and it crashes. May resolved other bugs, but clearly still has fundamental issues!

Tracker does not work properly
This version of the VOR app for mobile or tablet does not work like it should. Zooming, ad wind directions or the predicted route does not work at all. Please fix this quickly otherwise the attention of the audience will fade away.
Great App
New coverage for 17-18 VOR is disappointing in some areas. Need more OBR reports and videos and less slow-moving, repetitive dialogue from someone who says he doesn't know what he's talking about. He asks an expert to explain, but the whole report is very slow-moving. Also, it is difficult to find out when live coverage will start. I understand the times of arrival at port are not predictable, but it would be nice to get some idea further in advance so that we know when to start looking for the live broadcast. The website keeps saying a report will come at 1300 UCT, but then nothing shows up, and it is very dated when it does finally get posted.

No longer works
I was enjoying following the race on this app, but it no longer works: it just comes up with an error on starting, and nothing works.
Nice update, but …
Looks like a nice update so far. However, the iPad implementation seems to have a fixed vertical orientation. This is not a good thing for me. I hope they can work out a way to fix it.

Has had it’s up and downs but is working great at the moment. Love the race app experience.

App opens (sometimes) in iOS 11 but crashes all the time before I can access any content.
Great App, it brings you to the extreme
It has everything from the VOR website and more. Performance is good lost of the times. Only problem it had was the video player, it would quit on you.
Tracker Screen issues - pop ups are a pain
When you click on the boats in the tracker the Boat detail pop-ups are problematic. They pop-up over other boats (which is annoying) but currently some pop-ups have a black box popping up over the info box which hides the data.

Video feeds won't play on iPad mini
I have been using this app since the start of the race but now all of a sudden it has stopped playing the video feeds. Very disappointed is an understatement. Any help or suggestions will be greatly appreciated

Previous edition was better
Last edition of the race in 2013_2014 had a better app: updates on the tracker was more real time. For this edition, the app has less features and is more limited. What we want is real time data. It is all what matters.
All fine but...
tracker has been fixed in this version and works fine. Ability to display video clips full screen has been taken away, why? Not a good idea hence three stars. Otherwise, all hunky dory.
Tracking obsession
Absolutely love the tracking feature in this app. So fun to know where the boats are and the distance between the leader and the rest of the field.
iOS 8.0.2 crash
I can't even open the app on the iPhone 6.
Very good app
There is much to like in this app when following the Volvo Ocean Race, like the timer at top of screen, tracker and watch reports. Unfortunately on my iPhone 5 it stops music playing on loading. Thanks for making it so easily available.
Very frustrating app
I want to watch the finish live in the app... The front page should tell us all sorts of info including Distance to finish, time to finish and when and how to watch live. Do I have to wait until 30min before the finish to figure out how to watch? All there is are various articles. Very frustrating.

Good, but what about the missing content?
So we are 6 legs into a 9 leg race and still we don't get the "From the boats" articles in the feed on the app. The only way to get this content is to go to the website. Why?
Excellent content- Poor implementation
This app has great content but is very clunky and generally difficult to navigate around. The news feed items are too big and slow to scroll through, with only one showing at a time on the screen. The tracker is good with excellent information, but again the navigation is poor, several attempts required to select a boat or to bring up additional information, also the auto zoom often selects the wrong boat or just an empty bit of sea!!!
Looking forward to the update...
It's a bit crude at the moment. The ranking info has little data (just the rank, DTF, change in DTL, speed). The wind overlays on the Tracker are very large when it's zoomed in. It would be nice to see date/time of updates. The notifications are good. If it gets a little tweaking it will be 5*
