Top Ranked
This is the most user friendly chess app out there. Have tried them all but Social Chess is hands down the best!!
Won’t open
Well I was enjoying this. The chess boards were large and easy to use. I liked the turn based games. But a few days ago, with games in progress the app suddenly stopped opening. I checked the app requirements and it still said iOS version 15 or higher, and I have 15.5.0 so that didn’t explain anything. I don’t know what you did but it keeps me from opening now. Fail.
Decode chess price
This website is a great app. However the decode chess analysis takes a long time. Why is the price 119.00 dollars a year? The actual decode chess website is 84 bucks a year and its quicker than your app
Notification
It’s pretty good so far but there is ALWAYS a notification on the app icon like it’s my turn or I have a new message. But it’s not and I don’t. Please tell me how I can make that go away.
The best
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten SON JESUS CHRIST, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.AMEN.
All the bots
This is one of the better chess apps out their but still have to many bots
Social chess
I am enjoying playing SocialChess online however there are some things I cannot figure out. How do I delete a game? How can I count to my wins and losses? Lori Mogan
Never updated my subscription
I renewed my one year subscription in January and still have no stats or any benifits. I even double paid thinking I never actually resubscribed, but I want to know if anyone else has had this or if I can get in touch with someone to fix this because the app before this is better than any other. But until then I’ve stopped completely for good reason. I’d love to come back but not if I’m being robbed. Thank you.
Terrible update
Used to be a decent app. Ruder and ruder people now. Recent update has clock issues, not worth paying for.
I love chess
This is a good chess game, but it’s a lot of racist people on here and very prejudice
There are 1000 better chess apps than this one
There are 1000 chess apps and each on of them are better than this one. Ugly and unintuitive design. The chat section is toxic. Inaccurate ratings. Just trash app.
I’ve been playing this for years and love it. Only one small issue has come up.
Recently, two games that I have played, and my opponent timed out, I have not been able to declare victory even after several days past the expiration. It only gives me the option to resign. I wish this could be fixed. Thank you for many many hours of pleasure. Please have a look at this issue.
Impossible to purchase 1 year membership
I have tried countless times to purchase 1 year membership but the link on the app does not respond. I sent a message to the app contact people and they said that they have not had this issue and it should work. They also said that I could upgrade through their website but I can only see a link to the app store on their website. Am I the only one having this issue?
50% price increase ??
This is a good app, but it’s basic. At £9.99 per year it’s manageable but I’ve just had notification that that is going up to £14.99. What on earth new features are being included to warrant of 50% price increase? Absolutely not worth it unless something massive is coming. I for one will not be resubscribing.
I love this game…
I love chess…. And….
Haptics are awful
Trash smells better than this game, the interface needs serious updates and the tactile can make u make a wrong movement if u r not careful, I play in two different devices and it happens the same, ip16 pmax and iPad Pro 5th it’s not a device problem, more than once I’ve made the wrong movement because of it, the clock goes on its own and is not internet i have 1.2gbs is just is trash Unfortunately must people won’t read reviews and the store will ditch reviews like this
Almost perfect, but got barred for 70 hours…
… just because every time I win I tell my opponent I am Thanos and that I am inevitable… and now they ban me for 70 hours for ‘abuse’. No fair guys. Still… I am inevitable.
Cancelled games ?
Why am I being penalized for refusing games sent over by invite ? It’s counting towards “cancelled” games and making me wait minutes before playing again. AND I have a paid account. What gives ?
Excessive subscription increase
It used to be $14.99. This year it is $22.99. That's over 50% increase in one year. What the hell guys, care to explain? Are you just being greedy or is it the cost of petrol?
Thank you!!! Social Chess
I’ve used the site for 3 yrs now and am thoroughly satisfied:), most times I can find a game within a minute or less, with a solid opponent that’s within my skill range. There are a multitude of customizations and preferred settings, coaching available, and many more useful tools to become a better player!! Thank you social chess for the countless games you facilitate around the globe:)!
Impossible to play games with others.
Wasted so much time even after tagging friends no one gets alerted to new games and new games don’t show up. Deleting.
Free works good
Free works good. Why is it so hard to purchase the non blocked version?

The sun - ELOn Must 1.e4 e6 2.Nc3 d5 3.ed ed 4.d4 f5 5.Nf3 Nf6 6.Bg5 Be7 7.Bxf6 1-0 !!!!!
I didn't like it very much
The controls are not very clear!
Satisfied Customer
I’ve been on the app for years and love it
Poor service
This platform is plagued with cheating and fake accounts and after reporting cheating the plaintiff account was denied access.
Arts4Me
Awesome game
Servers SOOO variable
This is one of the better online chess games. However the servers are so variable in regard to speed in bullet games. One time you will be someone with 15 seconds in the clock and the next game lose by 15 seconds. After 5000 games it becomes really obvious. If they could correct that it would be a 5 star.
Best chess game ever
No pop ups, no ads, great players and can play with family and friends no matter where u are in the world.
Nobody is real
Over 1/2 the games you play on this app are against bots with 30k games played
New update
This has been my most popular app on my phone, but not sure that I like the latest update. The RHS part of the screen appears to be truncated / cut off and the feel of the app is a lot different than what I’m used to.
Great app, but they need to be better with abandoned games.
It’s exhausting… I’ve played over 4,000 games on this app since 2017. The app itself is great. Happy with game play and features. But I will no longer pay for membership when renewal comes up if the developers of this app don’t get better at ending games that have been abandoned. I would guess the average % of abandonment is > 10% maybe even closer to 20%. There’s nothing more frustrating than to be midway through a game, your opponent blunders & loses there Queen or are 1 move away from checkmate, and they (cowardly) abandon the game. There’s a little green light that lights up if the player is online, and when they close the app, the green light disappears. Cant control how players play, but the app can certainly improve by better catching these abandonments quickly. It’s absurd to have 7 minutes left on the clock, they log off and abandon, and the app doesn’t auto abandon the game until 5 minutes goes by. I really enjoy this app and have avoided switching over to chess.com app or similar - but if this doesn’t improve I’ll be finding an alternative. My time is valuable and I’m not going to waste it because the app devs can’t figure out a better system. Rating it 3 out of 5 stars. If I see improvement, I’ll update my review to reflect the changes.
Great game and format
It’s awesome that you can play anyone around the world at different skill levels levels!!!
Banned account temporarily
I paid for an annual membership. Been playing for two weeks without any problems. I said nothing vulgar, but my account was banned for 72 hours. There’s no way to contact customer support to alleviate the situation. Very disappointed in this app. You can play for free, and I recommend doing that. I also recommend installing the chess.com app here in the App Store. I’ve had a much better experience the past 3 days and I will start using that app exclusively.
Early days, but it works well.
So far I have been very happy with this Chess sharing App. Quite easy to set up and playing a game with a friend is easy and seamless.
Coward Players
Game itself is great, runs fine can’t complain about the game play or the aesthetics. My major and only issue is people who sneak wins. They win after a mistake, easy to click a wrong square on iPhone and then suddenly have to go, but funnily enough they’re online again after a few minutes. Similar with close games but it’s easy to accept an L if you’ve not made any intentional mistakes. I suggest a best of 3/5/7 option be added to the game, that way if players want they can really see who is the better player and not have to worry about people doing a runner if they win. It’s really putting me off playing I’ve already deleted the app once, downloaded it last week and had 3 people cut after me clicking the wrong square. IMO they should play unrated but there’s no way of making anyone do that if they’re scared to lose their rank lol
Battery life.
Is it just me or does this app smash battery life?
Perfect
No ads. I wish there were apps this well-made for everything.
Cheaters paradise on weekends
Great app i like having lots of different chess apps so i can play with whoever but this app like chess.com has a bunch of cheaters on the weekends weekdays are awesome but you will start to see familiar suspicious characters over and over again Edit: now bullet is unplayable on this app the latency is so broken you will lose so many of your games because its just laggy
Almost great
I love the app, it is a great way to play chess with friends anywhere in the world. I especially like that you can just make a user name and start playing without any hassle. The only thing that would make this app better is if we were able to customize the notification sounds. The default piano chord sound is loud and distracting, it would be nice if I could change it to play one of the iPhone text tones.
Used to be good
Sadly you can do very little with this app anymore. Looks like every customisation option now requires a subscription. Switched to to the excellent Chess app, from chess.com
Great but I’m inexplicably banned
Love the app but my account got banned and I can even make another one
Good
Good
Why?
Why would you play here instead of chess.com?
Best Social Chess App
Quick, easy, challenging, thoroughly recommended
Bad update to the app
The new changes have made the app worse.
Pestered
I have used this app over 3 years and have enjoyed playing but for some reason from time to time get pestered by females not interested in playing chess treating it as a chat site or dating app So I have decided to play no more games and let my membership expire
