Good update
Really like the new update, but the news stories are still often pretty gay.
Not good
App doesn’t work on data. All you get is the perpetual wheel of shame. When you use it on wifi the content is boring at best and amateurish.
Old version is great
I love the old version but, on readin the reviews, I’m not going to update to the new one, BTW why do some obituaries jump back to the top of the list after a few weeks? Why are some shown twice? I think it shows poor (or at least careless) careless editing
Terrible on iPad now
All of a sudden when you press the back arrow, the app becomes a small window and you have to close it completely and restart it. And no more sliding to the next story. Please fix!
Old version was way better
The new version is all over the place, having a hard time posting ads due to them getting repeatedly flagged for some reason (never had that issue with the old version, over the course of 10 years and hundreds of ads posted). I’m sure I’ll get used to the new version, however, I wish there was still a way to use the old layout, it was way more intuitive.

Video Glitch
I tried to watch a video but got stock in it. I couldn’t get back to castanet main menu. For years, I never had a problem with that app. This refresh has glitches. I have given up on the app for my tablet. Landscape mode is terrible. The window gets so small, I can’t see the words. It will not allow me to log in, unless I don’t use the app. This app is not for ipad.
The go to app for Okanagan news
Not the most innovative app but it’s relatively simple and easy to use. Overall it helps me stay informed about the Okanagan area and that’s probably the most important thing.
Update?
Functional but needs an update big time. iOS 18 is leaving this app behind. An eyesore
It’s about time lol. Unpolished
The old app was horribly old. This app is a huge upgrade. It has a number of unpolished and unintuitive things. I haven’t spent much time in the app. Text fields don’t auto capitalize for one. Spelling corrections I think is an issue. When you are logged in and want to message someone, you have to enter a name, you are already logged in. Nope, it says name, you have to enter an email address. I AM ALREADY LOGGED IN! The old app didn’t have this problem. No recent search history, except maybe the last one, yet doesn’t auto delete if you start to type. Search bar not intuitive.

Unbelievably great app. Informative, easy to use, easy to read and full of little side trips like Fly and weather, at your disposal!!!
Can’t filter in apartment search?
New update doesn’t let you filter by bedroom, price, or pet friendly anymore. Useless

I didn't like it at all because it seemed to never get updated. With the new upgrade the castanet app is great I can actually read the new for that day. I only gave it 4 stars because I love that I can see the classifieds but I can't click on a item and see the picture bigger?? Please change this then it would a a 5 stars!!!!!!!
Outdated app, no iPad version either

Dear Castanet So profound stupid that you would profile Brent Wilson of great wealth supporting Colin Basran. Brent’s wealth and development needs for ALR lands certainly meets Basran’s profile of governance I am not wealthy, I own no companies or speculation lands but I vote. I think Castanet should rethink what they publish.
Great app
Fairly easy to use. I spend a lot of time in this app as it contains a wealth of information of interest to me. Has a few glitches though, seems to refresh to the top of the list after trying to go back, also no way to search for a word or article. Overall Very happy user!

This app is so much faster on my phone than the full browser version. Stories, classifieds, videos; all come up very quickly. Intuitive design. I like it - good work!

Fix please
Can’t bump the paid feature ad to the top. Can’t even view the ad description. Only has tabs at the top to delete, cancel, relist. Worked well up until a couple weeks ago, needs to be fixed! What’s the purpose?
Not bad...
Not a bad all encompassing app overall. Probably deserves 3.5 Stars if could give that. Bit buggy in spots such as images in ads and real estate sometimes revert to tiny pic on screen. Reloading from beginning and then reloading ad seems to fix briefly but problem often quickly returns. Not bad, just needs some tweaking.

Use notifications
Do not use my Gmail for your notifications. You should have your own notifications on whatever device it is that the client is using. Your app should notify people. do not use Gmail.

Needs support for this phone. I get bars on the top and bottom of the app view because of the notch on the screen itself but still overall a decent experience

App has some UI issues such as button placement making erroneous presses. Also, signing in to classifieds is a bit of a clunky process. Would be great to flag items in the classifieds and DM buyers/sellers just like the standard site.

Very Bias News
Growing up I was taught to always look for Bias opinions in News by my teachers! This has to be some of the most bias I have ever read! It’s gets worse every year as I try to get news from here every so often and each time I am more horrified what people are reading! I would NEVER recommend Castanet to a friend!
Don't like new side panel
The new side panel has made the app too busy and everything smaller to read! Not a fan.....
Hate the split screen
The newest update with the screen split between news/classifieds and all the irrelevant time wasters that castanet publishes is incredibly annoying. There should be an option to go full screen with the content you are actually reading and not be bothered with the rest of it.

Needs work
When you search the classifieds you should be able to click on the sellers name and see their other listings, just like on the website. The menu bar and the "back" button also overlap as you scroll which is very annoying. Would like to see these issues fixed in the next update.

I’m very disappointed in castanet for not reporting appropriately on anything covid related everything always seems one sided! You don’t show all the truth! This censorship needs to go until then I’m done with mainstream media! Stop hiding the truth from people we have freedoms and rights!
Lacking
Wish it had the classifieds messaging features. Rather lacking in other areas too. Very annoying that you have to constantly keep signing back into the app, maybe a pin code or a one time sign in like Facebook and Instagram..... Could be good and used a lot more if they put a little more into it.
Lol typical
This apps interface is simply not appealing. It's not attractive or to put it simple, it's ugly. Needs to me sleeker, more modern design with more capabilities as mentioned in other reviews
