I loved the concept but wasn’t ever able to get the original app to load properly on my phone. If you’ve tried falling fruit before and given up or if you’re scared by the bad reviews, give it another shot!
Why did you change?
Your app was so useful and easy to navigate. Today, I opened it and it’s completely different than before. Now it’s a nightmare to navigate! What on earth were you thinking? Please change it back!

More filter options please
I really think it should have filter options like… filter out all the dumpster diver posts… and it be a setting that saves. I personally don’t want to eat anything that risks having discarded glass or needles… and I don’t particularly consider this foraging. I want to know things like where people saw onion grass, dandelions, or pawpaws… not where people found half eaten bagels… 🤢
Useful but location issues
Installed today. It works well to see your surroundings and add new trees. However finding your location has a real problem (ios 15.latest iphone 6s+) getting the error message «locating you » then «we lost your location gps and network signal may be weak try again » while location and cellular permissions are granted and i am downtown with coverage. and every time i start it i am in Boulder, CO. Please fix this. Otherwise i woud give an higher rating. Thanks to the volunteers
Fantastic update
The latest update makes it noticeably WAY more usable! They really listened to user feedback and implemented some awesome enhancements. I love this app!
Unusable
I was already annoyed I had to make an account but it won’t even load anything. The old website worked way better even on mobile.

This app is clearly a bit outdated, you can see many listings from 2013-2014. But I have a theory, stick with me, that this app will blow up again. With the rise of interest in environments, nature, foraging, etc, this app would honestly be so effective and helpful for more digital-dependent foragers. I’ve seen this around, and I think I’ll see more soon hopefully. This app has so much potential.
So much potential but barely usable
The descriptions atleast need coordinates or some some way to identify where the fruit is. Great idea but bad execution
Great, needs some updates.
This app is so helpful! However, it could be helped by basic updates, such as being able to filter out some plants you don't want to see, and being able to filter basic plant families, instead of needing to specify a specific species. For example, it would be much easier to find crabapples if there was an option to show anything that was named crabapple, instead of having to search for a specific species.
Wonderful
I love this, I’ve been a fan of falling fruit for a long time. Just got an email saying the app was updated so I decided to give it a look. I’m a big fan of food foraging and geocaching. This is a great fun in between 😊 I haven’t come across any issues, and I feel the need to remind people that not every land zone grows the same or good fruit. Success depends on your area! I’m in Houston and the options aren’t incredible but certainly enjoyable.
Don’t waste your money
Good concept but it’s severely outdated. Came across a lot of post from 2013. It’s 2026!!!
A utiliser plus massivement
L’idée est top : il y a beaucoup de comestibles autour de nous sans qu’on le sache. Cette appli permet de les faire connaître et d’en profiter. De mon côté ça marche : mail confirmation reçu, compte créé, le chargement de l’appli a été long à la première connexion mais je peux maintenant voir les endroits et en ajouter.
Love the concept, App needs work
After finally being able to set up an account I have yet to be able to use the App because it never loads any actual data. When I use the (free) website it pops up quickly with locations and pins.
Great idea, weak performance
The app needs to be fixed, there are problems with adding photos, localisation works with problems, no way to edit and to correct informations. I’d like the app to be easier to use because it is waist of time to do/start the same adding 3-4 times. Please fix it because it is worth to be great app

It’s got some minor bugs and there’s plenty of room for improvement, but it does what it needs to do! I’m really enjoying using it and contributing to it.
Charges
I’m a little confused as to why I am getting charged another 1.99 when app stated 5.99 one time fee? And how or where do I cancel if this is in fact a subscription?!
Has great potential but…
Unfortunately very buggy and doesn’t look like it’s being updated any more. - GPS only finds my location if I tap on the location search bar first - once GPS tracking mode is turned on, it repeatedly zooms back to my location even if I want to scroll around - always defaults to Boulder, Colorado (I live in the UK and my home location on the website is set to a UK location) - random in-app notifications steal focus away from drop down boxes so they become impossible to change - the “List” view offers no way to show the marker on the map, so is essentially useless

Doesn’t respond
I paid money for an app that doesn’t respond. It says my gps isn’t working by all my other apps disagree.
Great resource, very user friendlyy
Really useful. My only gripe is that every time you zoom in or out the location tags have to reload themselves - presumably chewing through both data and battery unnecessarily.
Stuck loading
Cool concept, but the app is unusable. I have a strong internet connection but the app is stuck loading. I’ve tried a few different times this past week, but same deal, the map is stuck loading Boulder CO. Oh well, it was only a dollar.
No updates, deal with it
Absolute gem of a concept. Whoever made it has moved on, but it’s still full of relevant info. Fortunately trees outlive apps! Deal with the flaws if you want this delectable info.
Can’t even register!!!
Just a brilliant idea! Why aren’t you keeping up with it???? There are ever more hungry people, including me! I’d love to forage. Please get it running 🙏🌷
Love this app
This is a great app I love using it when ever I am in a new area to see what's around just wish it had a feature where you could load directions to a location via google maps or some other gps type app!
Regrettable execution
I have to agree with the folks below, the combination of multiple inedible trees and the general lack of information makes this app fairly useless.
Catch Us
We are flying through this country foraging for frinedly fruits and un-empty dumpsters. But catch us because this app needs an update. To be able to find location of user using a better map service, or at least to fill the screen of recent phone screens with bigger format/screen size. Thank you, we are falling
Terrible UI
Save yourself the money it doesn’t work
Great concept but app is nearly unusable
Registration is weird because it stops you from retyping the password in any field after you make a mistake once. Then when you finally get in, the ability to filter fruit types just plain does not work. Also despite the name, people have submitted a ton of non-edible trees! So I see hits all over my neighborhood, but on closer inspection they are actually an oak, Madrone, dogwood, hawthorn or any number of other trees that are obviously not fruit and, with the exception of acorns if you are extremely desperate, not even edible. Considering that this app costs money, I was expecting it to actually do the basic things it says. But the addition of non-fruit trees that cannot be filtered separately from fruit trees makes it worse than useless.
Working great!
I was skeptical to download based on previous reviews but a few recent reviews were positive so I went ahead and bought the app. It’s working great! You can search for specific edibles in your area. I did not attempt to edit a point or create a new log yet though. Overall, worth the $2. Would be great to get more crowd sourced data!
Garbage, don’t buy it
The app is barely usable and since it relies on the public to submit locations, it isnt worth getting unless you live in Boulder, CO. I want. A refund.
Doesn’t work on my iPhone 6s
This is a great idea, but when I try to use it, often times my keyboard doesn’t come up to type anything in. I was going to list my loquat trees for foragers, butI can’t. Maybe I’ll try it on my computer next time my loquats are ripe.

Purchased but no account support
I purchased the app and attempted to create an account. The app wants me to verify my email before it will let me log in, but it will not send the verification email. I am locked out.
Works…perfectly?
Thw previous reviews had me questioning whether this was worth trying…but it works perfectly? Registration email was sent instantly and I logged in without trouble. I’m now looking at about 100 dots on the map within blocks of my home (I might be a slight outlier given my urban setting). Thank you Falling Fruit!
Too buggy to function
This app may have worked at some point but it’s broken now.
Love the concept, hate the app
I have been using Falling Fruit for years and it is fabulous, except I cant add any new things to the map in Australia. I’ve tried on three separate occasions to add an olive tree and it won’t show up on the map. Wish it would work properly so I could use it as intended!
