Nice that I’ve ideas where my genetics came from, I’ve to do research.. all in all I love it!!!!
Disappointed
I used to love my Ancestry subscription. Whenever I had time, I could go back to my account and do a little bit of research and get caught up with everything new. But lately they have gotten very unscrupulous with their billing policies.. It’s impossible to cancel. I’ve been getting charged for three months while I’m trying and a refund so sad.

The cost for this has become astronomical. I do really enjoy it because I am so deeply involved in genealogy but I will probably have to give this up due to the cost
DNA Results/Family Tree
When I got my DNA results I was really excited to start working on my family tree, especially my moms side since we don't know much about her side of the family. But I quickly realized they have several sister websites they want you to pay for to get all the information. It seems silly to me that you have to have several subscriptions just to view your family information. Pro tip, make it all inclusive under Ancestry.com and a little cheaper for all the services and more people will spend the money. Doing it the way you are deters people from wanting to sign up for multiple websites, especially when they are already paying for the ancestry account.

Charged Repeatedly After Cancellation — Still Not Resolved
Extremely disappointing experience with Ancestry. We cancelled our membership on March 25, 2026, yet Ancestry continued charging our credit card afterward. We were charged $149 on March 30, $39.99 on April 1, $39.99 on May 1, and another $149 on June 30 — $377.98 in total after cancellation. We contacted customer service after noticing the charges and have followed up multiple times over several months, but the issue has still not been resolved and the money has not been refunded. What is even more frustrating is that I just received another email saying that the supposedly cancelled membership is scheduled to renew again on September 29 for another $149. I genuinely don't understand how a membership can be cancelled, reported to customer service multiple times, and still continue generating charges months later. At this point, this has gone far beyond a simple billing mistake. I would strongly recommend that anyone using Ancestry carefully monitor their credit card statements after cancelling and keep documentation of their cancellation. I will update this review if Ancestry finally stops the subscription and refunds the charges made after our cancellation.

Pd a great deal for much worldwide info and even stateside not much working. This site used to be far better and more affordable and accessible

Incorrect language
DNA > Regions > scroll down > View All Regions The language is in what looks like Polish. I’m from Canada. Likely a bug with local language script. iPhone 14 Pro Max iOS 26.3
Greedy…
Look…we paid a lot to do DNA testing. Pay walling access to ANY related perks of having ALREADY done the DNA…is greedy…plain and simple. It’s time to be part of expense relief efforts in this country. Lower your subscription rates or do away with them all together. Make your money…just do so with class and fairness.
Review Of Ancestry App
Very good app. Haven’t tried loading photos yet. Don’t know if one can. Don’t know whether minor children and their data is viewable to others who have access, but not the author of the data. The app is almost as good as the original ancestry.com . Quite difficult and counter intuitive as to how to switch from my tree to my wife’s tree.
30+ yr mystery solved
Ancestry was able to help me find my biological father 4 years ago. A question that had always been in the back of my mind once I understood that I wasn’t raised by or with my biological family. My estranged biological mother always told me it was another man and he accepted it although he didn’t truly believe it and never fostered or maintained a relationship with me at all.
Data leak
I don’t like that my account was in 2 data leaks. I think it is fishy and now you guys have my DNA. Please don’t let it happen again

Like to take functionality away
I like the app and use it frequently. They keep putting more and more functionality that used to be free behind a paywall. It’s always great when a company continually shows you how greedy they are. Gotta keep the Blackstone happy before the users. Typical behavior exhibited by private equity firms these days. Completely unnecessary and frustrating.
The app is pretty good but not great
I like this app because it brought me closer to family members, but you should not have to pay for any of this. You should be able to access every single tool for free! This part takes me off.

Constantly putting things behind the paywall
It's neat to see where I'm from, but it seems every time I login there's something else that I don't have access to. I used to see a map where the people I matched with were from, I used to be able to break down maternal versus paternal. Unless they moved it somewhere I can't find it. I just remember being able to do more when I first received my test results.
Good, but needs improvement
I had high hopes I could do more with this app on my phone but two annoying glitches keep me from giving it a higher score: One, the family trees don’t seem to sync entirely with the website, and Two, the app has an annoying habit of erasing search info after you move to fill the next field.

Good app
Hi this site is amazing with all of the hints that we get and it goes even deeper with documents like Birth, Marriages and death notices. I did however get stuck on my Father’s side of the family but Genealogical DNA testing will also help with that. This is where I think that Ancestry should allow us to upload our DNA results from other genealogical research sites like My Heritage I guess I will have to pay again to get DNA kit for Ancestry. Hopefully I can find a package that will test for both parental lineage.

Resets the tree
I am currently doing multiple edits where I delete non-off the tree where I incorrectly put them in there. But it is frustrating where I delete someone and it resets me right back to the beginning of the tree. It’s frustrating because I have to hunt down where I was. Can you please make it so that when you delete somebody, it leaves you right where you were on the tree?

I’ve spent countless hours digging into my history and found some incredible things. I highly recommend this app.

Ui is great but each update more restrictive
The app is most powerful for subscribers but access is tighter after each update for free members the had a DNA test done. It still allows tree navigation but looking at matches is almost useless. Updates focus on allowing you to upload richer information that they then can sell to other members.

I love this it tells you a lot my your family history
Charging for everything now.
I believe that all those who were able to access everything prior to charging, should be grandfathered in. We should not have to pay such high prices for what we originally received at no cost. I should not especially be charged to see my family members tree. I hardly ever come to this app because I can’t access anything. I live on a fixed income and now cannot afford to finish my family research.

I enjoy this App I find though there’s a longer route to get to the DNA page I have to go through Google to get to my matches page. It worries me when I see in red “delete tree” and I’m concerned one day I might accidentally hit it The new matches have dried up recently What would be handy is a search of ethnicity as I have 4% African it would be great to search for say “Mali” and get all the results of my 15k matches refined Otherwise it’s quite comprehensive and fun to use
Money grab-Crashing App-More trouble than it’s worth
The app is constantly crashing and the price for the information is beyond ridiculous when most information can freely be found online anyway. It certainly is no help when it comes to foreign records. My Heritage is slightly better but also still a money grab. The only advantage to Ancestry is they have a little more information than the other.

Great app. Easy to navigate. Sorry that you had to take away the “shared matches”. Generally the people that are on here are here to find answers. Too bad you are making it more difficult snd expensive in our already hard to manoeuvre lives

My Tree
What started as a sapling has now grown into a forest. Absolutely amazing.
Latest update is awful
With the new update, once you add someone to your tree, the app automatically takes you back several generations or even to the start of your tree! It’s brutal when you’re working 10-15 generations in, and it takes you back to the beginning to have to find the line you were working on again. Very frustrating that Ancestry is so sloppy
Hints, etc, emails hang do not take you to anything but a loading screen
My review is in the title. I get emails suggesting a new hint, or trait, but I when I select the link it stalls out and doesn’t take me anywhere. Irritating. And makes me want to stop using the app. I have a screen shot showing the endless spin in trying to load
