Used Once
Downloaded this a week ago. Purchased it and after one day it quit loading.
Crashing on startup
After one of the recent app version updates, AHD4 Deluxe edition is crashing on startup. Using iOS 12.5.3 (iPad Air)
at $34, it is definitely overpriced and not worth it.
important to know that it's not the same as the desk version. It's basically a stripped down version of the original dict, this is something they don't advertise.
I am a AHD4 user and where is my upgrade?
How do I get the upgrade to AHD5? I see no way to do this..I would think this is something that would have been thought out in advance for your loyal customers??
Helpful
Easy to use. However there are many words not included
Do not purchase
I paid $16+ a few days ago for this app. It worked fine for a couple of days but now when I open it it shows the message “Total Failure” then redirects to the App Store where other versions of the dictionary are available that require “In app purchases.” This is a bait & switch and dishonest.
Fast App and Good Dictionary
This is the fastest loading dictionary on App Store. The dictionary itself is my go to dictionary. It is also a thesaurus! The voice pronunciation is quite good. I use it often when I see words that's new to me.
A huge bug
It's often happens when I touch a word on the left panel of word index, the explanation refuses to appear on the right panel. No matter how many times i hit on the word, i just can't get the entry. I have to restart the app everytime.
American Heritage Dictionary Deluxe Third Edition
To Whom It May Concern: I just recently bought this dic•tion•ar•y (2 or 3 days ago). Today it asks me to download a new version and also when I open it there is a message that says: “Total Failure”. Should I have to pay again for download a new version? This dictionary was very expensive it cost 30 dollars. Please help. I will appreciate your prompt attention to this matter. Thanks.
Fix the crashes to compatible with IOS 162
I have used this dictionary for several years now. I paid $39.99 for it and it’s been great but Please can you fix the crashes. App keep crashing since IOS 16.2 update
Pricey and outdated, but at least they addressed the iOS 9 issues
Longtime user here, very satisfied with the app despite its high price. Unfortunately since iOS 9 arrived the app has been unusable, and it appeared the developers were going to require all AHD4 users to upgrade to the 5th edition -- at full price, another $25 -- just to get an app that would open without crashing. Fortunately they came through: the latest update renders the app compatible with iOS 9.x. Whew. No reason for new users to buy this one, but nice to see the developers finally giving us the working app we paid for.
Zoom ?
Good dictionary with illustration, but Zoom on pictures don't work !!!
Worth every penny
Not only an excellent resource but the developers have kept this app up to date through every IOS version since it was introduced.
Doesn’t work
No idea why. It just takes me to the app store. I paid for this??
Great
Years of satisfactory answers
I have had this app for years. I use it almost on a daily basis. I cannot recollect a single time where I have not been completely satisfied with the definitions I have found. This is truly a tool for increasing our understanding of the world and I am deeply grateful to the makers of this app.
Not honest
I bought this years back at a considerable cost (39.9$) and couple of years later they stopped updating in App Store. As a result all the dictionaries by Enfour, of which I actually bought quite a few, stopped working on new iOS. Then they would start selling the same title at a higher price. So, as a verified buyer, before you decide to buy, think twice. BTW, they do have a tech support: it’s one man shop I guess. just received an answer from the developer claiming they have regularly updated their products. I pulled back one of the titles I bought Rogets II Thesaurus, and as of now it requires an update which is not available unless you buy it again @$6.99. ( I wish I could upload the screenshot to this rating) My American Heritage deluxe version stopped working at least 3years ago due to its lack of update and ergo incompatibility with the new iOS. So i stand by my claim and urge buyers be aware of Enfour products: they are expensive, they don’t update forcing you to buy a new version and yes, their tech support is one man show at least in the past few years.
다 좋은데 발음 음질이
발음 음질이 너무 않좋습니다. 반드시 제대로 된 음질로 업데이트 해 주세요. 그것만 빼면 나머진 무난합니다
Could be better...
The software is quite buggy. Sometimes I type a word, one found in the dictionary (like "cat"), but the dictionary does not bring up the list of words contained and instead I stare at a blank screen only to have to restart the application and start again. Other times, I want to clear the word that I typed previously, but repeatedly trying to hit the small "x" in the circle in the corner of the search field does not work, so I have to go in manually and erase each individual letter one by one of the word in order to get a blank search field. I have yet to see the application updated yet, although I bought it quite some time ago. I was expecting better from such an expensive application.
An Invaluable Resource
As a person who once owned the dead tree version of this dictionary, I am still amazed that I can carry around an unabridged dictionary on my iPhone and iPad. I use this app multiple times a day.
Crashes with iOS 9
Please fix! It was a great app!
뭐여??
멀티태스킹 지원해주쇼... 쓰잘떼기없는 업데이트 말고.. 신어도 추가하시고... 좆나게 비싸기만 하네...
My go to Dictionary.
A few years back the developers had made a decision to stop supporting and updating this app, meaning eventually an update to the iSO would kill it. I don’t know how many people pushed back, I know I did. Hats off and thanks to the developers for re-thinking that decision.
Stop calling me software thief
Please check my record, I paid for this dictionary on Apple store. You either stop calling me thief or give me the full refund and I will delete this software thoroughly.
Perfect
Loads of features
💩 app.
I wish I could give zero star. The only people they should call a software thief is themselves. They charge a ridiculous price for a worthless & broken app, & they have the nerve to call all their customers thieves.
Amazed!! Just like others
Thanks for the update, I thought I lost this app, though I could run it on my iPod touch 4th, But I want it on my iPhone and my brand new iPad air2 thanks loads guys. This is one of the best dictionaries in the AppStore, the other dictionary(Roget's) is vey useful too.
Software Thief recurring message
I am NOT A SOFTWARE THIEF. QUIT SENDING ME THESE MOTES OR REFUND MY MONEY OR TAKE YOUR APP BACK😒
Best Choice
So glad this update finally makes this app compatible w latest iOS cause I've missed this app a lot. Had to resort to my several other dictionaries, none as good as this one. Owned this for a long time & assure u it far exceeds others. Finally I can delete competitive dictionaries. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
I AM NOT A SOFTWARE THIEF
I think it is absolutely inexcusable that this company would be so concerned about their precious data that they would spam paying customers with messages that they are software thieves. I know that the messages were due to a bug, but the fact is that they knew or should have known that there could be flaws in their thievery detecting code, and yet they weighed the cost of thievery versus the cost of angry customers spammed with spurious messages and chose wrong! I was traveling in Europe when I started getting these messages and initially panicked, thinking that my phone had somehow been hacked. I stopped using the phone until I could get to a place where I could do a Google search to get more details on this. Whoever had the brilliant idea to add this "protection" to their application should be summarily dismissed. I also think the company needs to do a whole lot more in terms of restitution than just post an update to fix the problem.
