Effective Organization of Projects and Tasks

Fantastic tool for creating listings (or projects) with additional functionality (calendars, reminders, repeat, notes, storage and email integration). Intuitive interface. Combined withtThe ability to prioritize then view by “all, today, tomorrow, this week and given to others” with a single selection is quick and easy.

I had a problem clearing old data from the app to start new. RTM's process only worked on my iPad after multiple tries. Didn't work at all on my Mac or iPhone. Emailed multiple times requesting assistance. Only reply was from RTM's automated Bob the Monkey acknowledging receipt on my first email. Absolutely nothing after that. No assistance whatsoever. Setting up a smart list does not work on app & privacy issues

I really enjoy RTM however the two major issues I have are: 1-smart lists are basically not functional on the iPhone app, and 2-there are too many privacy concerns (for example app tracks user content). In this day and age, productivity and note apps are only usable if they are end to end encrypted. I don’t feel comfortable knowing that someone at the back end has access to all of my content and information.

If only…

I was hoping the alerts were persistent like an alarm you can snooze. I paid for a year of Pro and so far I’m not really impressed. The simplest thing is missing that would make my experience a lot better…at least give the option to add new items to the TOP of the list. I hate adding new things and then editing to slide them all up. I still have over 300 days on the subscription. We’ll see.

Great List App

If you struggle with lists because you are ADHD then this is your app. Easy to use, you can schedule and prioritize. I had been using it about a month and love it. I like filtering out to just the tasks I need to do today. Sort could be better, I would want it from today forward on due date/time, then priority. And another sort for priority first then due date/time. When you get a lot of items like me you need the sorts and filters.

Disappointment

This app is no better than the notepad every phone comes with pre installed. I was under the impression that it had actual alarms that would go off when your scheduled task was to be completed, it does not. An oldie but a goodie - desperately needs new icon though

The app functionality is amazing: everything needed, nothing that isn’t. GUI wise it’s maybe a little dated... just a little, certainly not enough to kill it - tbh it’s such a solid app it can afford that. But the icon? Induces chills every time I see it on my Home Screen. I can replace it on desktop, but I can’t on iOS. I suspect it’s a devs in joke, a bit of humour, but for gods sake drop it or give us some in app options to change it. My phone is my personal device, and it rankles to have a sense of humour I really don’t share on my Home Screen every time I unlock it.

A love this app

This is THE best app, especially for supporting GTD. It sync's great, catetories, subtasks, tagging all help trememdously with organizing. I have one tiny complaint. On the desktop app - when you add a task - you need to hit the "DONE" button, which feels SO WRONG, because the task is not done. Everytime I click this, I cringe and think of the developer that implemented this without thinking of the user. RTM uses the term COMPLETE when something is done, but still... DONE?? Please don't replace it with a checkbox either. Maybe SAVE would be a good choice instead.

Fine unless you change time zones

I was enjoying RTM as a very simple to do list app, but it has a key flaw: the app basically falls apart if you move time zones. I went on vacation 3 hrs over and all of my reminders became jumbled and unusable. Feels like a pretty major oversight on the RTM team to not offer any functionality around this.

I do not want my personal, private information synced to a 3rd party server. Developers: Let us explore your app WITHOUT having to set up an account. Not worth downloading.

It’s a bit annoying to set up (can’t be set up entirely from phone, you have to use desktop for the features that you want) and I wish having a reminder was the default setting with an option to turn off. I spent hours putting in my gardening and summer chore plans and none of them notify me at all because I didn’t manually add and set a reminder which takes extra time on top of the already time consuming task of making the item. Plus you have to use a desktop to enable reminders. So far apple reminders has been more functional for me but they are too easily dismissed. Not sure if I’ll use this app going forward, pretty disappointed in it. The user interface is also very clunky looking. Between the annoying way to have to input everything, the annoying way you have to set reminders and basically the annoying way you have to do everything on this app makes it not worth it to me. Plus they clearly take your data. They should be paying you for your data.

Too fiddly, looks horrible, overpriced

RTM was the first task manager I ever used. I could never get push notifications as I couldn’t afford pro, and while the natural language input seemed great it used to drive me up the wall as it didn’t accept things the way I naturally type them. I thought I would give it another try due to it having separate start and due dates, and a really advanced smart list system. However I’ve given up in frustration. It’s confusing that start dates are on the right and due dates on the left. The filter system is too confusing. A lot of the colours don’t stand out against the background. That cow logo is as ugly as it ever was (sorry but it’s true). I can’t see how to add tags in the task input window and it’s too frustrating to learn how to do anything. But my number one biggest complaint is that if a task starts today, it doesn’t appear in today - that only lists tasks due today. Sure, I can make a smart list. But the WHOLE POINT of start dates is for things to just show up! If it starts today it should show up today like in Things! Otherwise there’s no point offering dates. I use TickTick at the moment and considered a switch for the complex filter system but won’t be switching. RTM is too confusing, lacks calendar integration and pro is expensive and doesn’t seem to include that many features. It’s also just to difficult to work out how to do anything. I have never understood why RTM pro is so expensive and I still don’t. Also, a warning: you can get a refund on pro after 14 days but only if you buy through the website. It won’t tell you that in the app. And it also costs slightly more through the website which is unacceptable - RTM didn’t send me a good explanation for this when I asked why they had set a higher price on their website. So be warned. Sorry RTM but you really need to step up your game. This app is overrated and overpriced.

I moved to RTM from Todo which worked great but was clunky for simple tasks. After using remember the milk for a few days I paid for a subscription and went pro. A year later they sent me an email staying the price went up 25% and it was time to upgrade because my subscription expires today. Great customer service- send an expiration reminder on the day the subscription expires. The pro features were shut off before I could even get to my desk at work and copy my subtasks over to the notes area. Typical cash grab apps. They give you subpar features just a bit better than the free apps online and constantly raise fees. I’ll go back to TODO and enjoy the app I only had to pay for one time.

This App is Great!

I love this app! I use it to stay organized with everything. I use it for household chores, shopping, errands, and home maintenance reminders. I'm also an avid gardener and it's helped me to better organize the research I need to do before selecting plants. Using the tag system, I can designate individual traits (like sun, water, and soil needs) to each plant which I then can quickly match to one of my plant beds. I then use it to track maintenance, watering, and fertilizer to-do's. But most importantly, this app has really helped the communication between my husband and me. My husband has an "exploded diagram" view towards household chores on the verge of being a hoarder. He just doesn't "get" cleaning or the concept of "tidy". Or in other words, he has no idea which chores should have a higher priority or where to start or even what to do or how often to do it. RTM helps me break down bigger tasks into smaller tasks which I then prioritize for him. For example, if I need him to clean the kitchen, he knows there's a task on RTM that says, "kitchen" and sub-tasks that say, "clean the sink, the stove, the microwave, the floor, etc." (OK, so I'm still the one cleaning the kitchen, but you get the point.) Same thing with errands. On the "Shopping" list I have individual tags for specific stores. I have a grocery store tag and I add items we need to it throughout the week. I then have a second list called "Errands." He looks at the errands list, sees "grocery store" then he goes to the tag for the grocery store and sees exactly what groceries we need. It's great! Same with home maintenance. Who remembers that they have to change their furnace filter or clean their dryer vents and other boring home chores? Now we put stuff like that it on the list. It's really taken a lot of frustration out of our marriage. And don't get me started on office to-do's! Thanks Remember The Milk!

On the negative side, it’s not the prettiest iOS app. Its design language is not native to iOS, and it is worse for it. The app interface is good - a little dated in the way users are forced to interact with individual list items (click to edit rather than swipe for common features), but otherwise not bad. I like the way dates and priorities are entered when an item is first created. But not enough to subscribe for $29/year to sync across devices. I wonder if this app has forgotten that it's only a to do list app, or if maybe the creators are trying to discourage people from subscribing. I would consider a one-time fee of 9.99 at the very most.
